Just a tip that I have implemented for the past year and works a treat. I usually go shopping once a month when I get paid. I have a cupboard which contains everything I need to last me for the month. Things like paper towels coffee toiletries etc. so this usually means one in the cupboard and one on the go. Obviously there are some things that you might have to have two or three things of the same product in there. Every time I remove something I then write it down. I keep a pen and pad in there just for this purpose. Come shopping day I just rip the page of the pad and my list is all written out. None of this standing there with your pen poised wondering what you need. Ps pmsl 🤣 at your tumble dryers story x
Shannon, Grants kiss and his swagerr-y walk was so cute. How nice that he made you the spice rack. The drawer thingy will be great. The static cling story was too funny and I'm sure totally mortifying. 😅 😆 Cheers
For recycle bin i use a laundry bag one of those for transportation/traveling and water proof /washable. I bought two sow when one is dirty got another one on stand by. Reusable and less use of garbage bags. Thanks for this video for the tips and motivation 🙂
I love the retro tile in you kitchen. I hope you keep it when you do your big renovation 🙂. And was that your orange tree at the beginning of the video? It’s incredible!
Thanks for the video, you have a lovely family! The bread maker might still last a long time, our washer sometimes make a very loud noise, but it still works just fine!
Hi Shannon. I really liked this video, it gave a very homey, comfort feeling watching it. I bake 2 or 3 loaves of bread at a time and bake it in the oven. I freeze the extra ones and keep it in the frig after taking it out of the freezer. I can't believe Levi is beginning toddler stage. Would love to see some of the vegetarian meals you make.😊
Thank you, Michele! I have never tried baking bread in the oven besides sourdough. Do you still a bread maker for the initial process or do you do all of the loaves by hand?
I just kneed by hand. You might try a no kneed recipe first. This one is good by: Jenny Can Cook.- 2-HOUR Fastest No Knead Bread. (I didn't want to put the link on your page,, but just google the name/recipe name)
Lol. Last week I ran around all day with a dryer sheet in my tee shirt. (I don’t always use them but I do use them occasionally). Didn’t notice until I got home and changed clothes. 😅😅 I can also relate to “retro kitchen” (except for mine, I guess you could call it “rustic” lol). Charming when people see it (sort of an original-circa 1940s ish-rough, unpainted tongue and groove wall right behind the sink area w/ a high ceiling) but they really don’t know the half of how “rough around the edges” it really is with day to day use. The rest was sort of filled in and painted over white. To its credit tho, that is some of the hardest and sturdiest wood I’ve ever seen in my life (Aka you can’t just hammer a nail in for hanging. You’d have to have a drill. But on the plus side, you never have to look for a stud beam). Lol.
I can relate to your kitchen! Someday I will have to show some up-close video because our kitchen is really bad too. Charming like yours but on a daily basis there are lots of problems lol.
Regarding static cling in laundry, we quit using dryer sheets and now use dryer balls. Throw them in the dryer with your wet clothes, and you will see a great improvement in the static cling. So much better for the environment than single use dryer sheets, and an easy fix.
I also use the dryer balls, but I don't think they made it into this load. My kids love to find them and then it becomes a game of throwing them around LOL. I probably need a few more so there are always some in the dryer. =)
Your home Always looks so tidy and neat. Do you use Dryer balls? They work to reduce static cling without the added chemicals of fabric softener. I switched to wool dryer balls years ago.
Curious how you keep your sunshade sail outside from collecting water during the rainy season? Love your static cling story, hilarious. Grants I got a smooch from my honey dance, to cute. 😊
The sunshade pulls back and can be secured with the rope it came with. When it's fully secured there is actually a small cover that is installed on that area. But if we accidentally leave the sun shade open and it rains then it has collected water and we just use a sick to push it up and the water rolls out =) I hope this description made sense.
When you say your youngest son has the right amount of clothes, how do you determine how much of each item you need? Looking to get the next season of clothes for my 18 month old and debated how much I will need
I like how bright and cheery your home looks! I like your retro kitchen. Ours is from the early 70's and we are not quite sure if we want to remodel it. It's a piece of history, in a way.... especially when the previous owner had taken such good care of it. Just subscribed.
Thank you for being here! It's hard to think about redoing the kitchen because part of me just loves the retro look, but ours is in terrible condition. most of the tiles are cracked and in the 1970's someone did a few "updates" that really didn't go well.
Appreciate you avoiding plastic laundry bottle. Cant help wondering why you are using a dryer on a fine day. In Aotearoa nz we would line dry outside or use an indoor drying rack.
I can't speak for Shannon but where I live in the US we line dry because some of my family has allergies to things outside. If we were to dry outside those allergies would now be on whatever was line dried and eventually it would be inside. This would then lead to medication. To avoid medication we use the dryer. We tried a drying rack but with a large family we didn't have enough room and we needed to run a dehumidifier with all of the moisture that was now in the air. It cost just as much to run a dehumidifier as it did the dryer. Sofor a few reasons the dryer makes more sense.
Hello, When I lived in NZ we also hung our laundry because it was so expensive to run an electric dryer, BUT here in the USA most dryers run on gas which is practically free. For instance to heat all our water for a month and run the dryer for every load it's close to $15 to $20 a month. I feel with the time saved it's worth it. I do hang a lot of clothes that I don't want to shrink or finer things I don't want to wear out fast.
The Gray color is called Agreeable Gray by Bher and the white color is Frost by bher. I really like both colors. The white is a very bright white though.
A jumper my husband has been wearing to work for the last two days, had a pair of my undies stuck in the sleeve. Of course,it wasnt until he was in the middle of the hardware store that this discovery was made, followed by a few awkward moments trying to hide them.
😂😂😂...about the underwear. Darn static. I'd be dying. Shannon, is that your orange tree? If so, I am filled with envy! It's too cold to grow any kind of citrus where I live, and it's so expensive.
That is actually the neighbor's tree that hangs over our side so we do get oranges =). We did plant our own too so hopefully by next year we will have some of our own oranges too.
I have wood floors too. I noticed one day as I was vacuuming the hard surface in my bare feet that the debris I thought I was picking up was shooting out the back end of the vacuuming and pinging me in the feet. Now (sigh) I crawl along on hands and knees and sweep with one hand while holding the vacuum nozzle in the other. I get a LOT of bits and bobs up that way. Is it just my vacuum??? Anyone else notice this?
This does happen to me too! Sometimes I will take off the spinning head and use the long hose instead, we have so many crumbs right now since Levi is learning to eat on his own. =)
I love your kitchen, it is beautiful and unique. Much nicer than all the generic kitchens that are just like thousands of others. I am secretly hoping that you never remodel that fabulous room.
I love Earth Breeze. I have been using it for over a year now.
I truly enjoyed watching your home reset! I love seeing how a simplified home works ❤
Thanks so much! 😊

I'll be sad to see this kitchen go! So unique and vintage 😍
Grant's "kitchen walk!"😂
Shannon, Grants kiss and his swagerr-y walk was so cute.
How nice that he made you the spice rack. The drawer thingy will be great.
The static cling story was too funny and I'm sure totally mortifying. 😅 😆

Thank you! 🤗 I love that spice rack, it's a great update so far. I hope you have a nice day.
Morning Shannon! Love the reset videos. You have simple living down to a beautiful science 😊
Wow, thank you!

Great tip!
Grant never fails to make me laugh. That walk after giving you a kiss killed me😂
Haha!

Yes! Thank you!
You must LOVE looking out those big windows at your gorgeous garden yard🪴
Yes I do!
Grant is just too cute!❤ He’s doing a great job on his new channel!
Thank you!!
Thanks for the video, you have a lovely family!
The bread maker might still last a long time, our washer sometimes make a very loud noise, but it still works just fine!
You are right I will probably still use it until it completely breaks LOL.
Your Hubby’s swagger after giving you a kiss 😅 lol, awesome
Shannon I love your garden it is just beautiful.
Thank you so much!
Happy Valentines day ❤

@@michelesusanne1 thank you I will look it up.
I use my bread machine to make the dough, then put it in a bread pan and bake it in the oven. The loaf is more of a standard size.
I love that wedding pi in your hall!it's soooo cute
Thank you!! 😊We had a really fun wedding.

A ball of aluminum foil in the dryer reduces static cling. We’re in Texas where it’s hot and dry, and it definitely helps
Thank you!

I love resets! I have been opening windows, too. It makes such a difference! Yes on taking advantage of momentum! - Belinda
I hope you are doing well. =)
Is that your orange tree???
It’s big already!! 😳
Thanks for all the motivation Shannon❤
Hello, no that is the neighbor's tree. I wish our tree was already that big =)
Nice to see your husband often in the video 😊
😊
It is a great tip to keep the exterior entryways swept. I want to do better with that especially when the weather is warmer!
I was wondering what your husband's TH-cam channel is called. I'm a single Mom who does my own wood working. Maybe he has inspiration. Thanks
Hello Shannon,I do love all you ideas on your channel, take care and see you again soon Thankyou xx🤗💕🐕
Thanks so much 😊 I hope you have a nice weekend.
Sharon if you pin a safety pin inside a garment / jumper etc it stops all static. Amazingly it works no matter how small the pin!😂
Oh I will have to try this! Thank you =)
Your home Always looks so tidy and neat.
Do you use Dryer balls? They work to reduce static cling without the added chemicals of fabric softener.

Thank you Linda, I hope you are having a good weekend. I do use dryer balls, but I am pretty sure they didn't make it into this load LOL.

Do you have the option of grocery pickup and/or grocery delivery?
We have a grocery store very close to our house so it isn't too hard to shop, but sometimes I do wish things could just be delivered LOL.
@@shannontorrens1 Delivery and grocery pickup are big here in GA.
How are you vacuuming hardwood floors? I thought the bristles from a traditional vacuum would damage the floors.
I have never seen any damage yet, but these floors are really bad anyway. It would be hard to do more damage than what is already done.
Tks for the video, Shannon.
