I owned a 2005 49RPH Defever for a couple years. Loved that boat. Cruised it from San Francisco to Vancouver in some dicey seas around North California. Was amazed at how it handled the seas. Hope to get another trawler of some sort one day.
Thank you Jeff. That is a great old boat. A little updating and she looks ready to go. I am one wanting modern electronics but otherwise a full service on things like the life raft and extinguishers and lets go. Cool.
Ron: She will survey well and you can always improve every boat, but I'd take Mi Amor as is for the first few months and I'd probably have a very short list
My grandparents had a 44 and did a lot of cursing. Sc to Trinidad and the great loop. Awesome well built boats. After seeing this video , I like the layout of 44 better. Many reasons but a few big ones- more space aft deck for a outside table for dinner/drinks close to the galley and master cabin and guest cabin more separation with forward aft layout, 44 you have a sound proof door to engine room don’t have to enter from galley . 49 is still a great boat. Thanks for the walk around
This would be perfect for us. I am wanting the indoor raised pilothouse now, and preferably with a nice captains chair. If they come with a little berth, or become a little berth that's even better. The master has to be midship or possibly aft, but I like how this one uses the forward berth for two levels of bunks instead of the standard v berth. The midship berth is perfect and even though I think the only shower is in the master, that isn't tragic if you seldom have overnight guests. I like the twin engines but I'm not sure what the cruising speed/fuel consumption is like. The Flybridge is perfect and we actually have a canoe and want to get a couple of kayaks and we would probably load them on the deck with dingy. It checks all the major boxes for us anyway.
Tammy: This DeFever is a great design and there are quite a few out cruising. Good to find a brand and model that works so you can focus on finding one. Keep looking and you'll be successful.
My friend as a similar boat. Jeff, never noticed the following so will have to re-watch it again, how many hours on the engines? Does it have thrusters? Where is it located at the moment?
Billy: No, Mi Amor does not have bow or stern thrusters. Her twin engines make her nimble. They could be added, but so far none of the owners have felt the need.
In my dream, I have $550K USD to buy and upgrade a trawler as a live aboard. This one checks all the boxes, and at $375K, I'd have enough to do her right.
Rolf: Pricing and hours can change so we don't include them in our videos. All of that with photos, specifications is available on www.JMYS.com thank you!
Hey Jeff, I was unable to find this boat on your website. It does check a lot of boxes for me. It’s unlikely I can afford anything over 50 feet and newer than this. Hours on generator and motors would be nice to know as well as the last time the a/c was gone through. I’m thinking it must have a heating system.
OMG - Show more of the boat and less full screen shots of your boof head. It’s a TH-cam video, eye contact whilst speaking is not required. Get that camera in front of you and keep it pointed forward. I really like your reviews, you know your stuff, but unless you are selling yourself with the boat, it’s a bit scary to see a 55” head on the screen every 10 seconds. 😉 No harm - but just the boat next time old mate. Nice old man joke in there 😂
Smokey: I disagree. They have made continual improvements and she is beautifully cared for. When someone makes a broad statement like that it's hard to take them serious.
Love trawlers but tired of looking up this guys nose. Get some video camera training and turn the camera around and show us the boat. Don’t want to see your face constantly taking up 25-50% of the viewing. So basic, hard to imagine I have to even say this - don’t you ever watch your own videos???
PD: Wow, thanks for such a flattering comment. Of course I watch my videos, there is editing and titles and dimensions to input and proof. Normally I have a camera person, this time I filmed myself with a new camera and was figuring it out. One-takes and on to the next to get it done in time to catch my flight. Understand your point, I don't know why you have to post here when you can email me directly with some constructive advice? This isn't about me, it's about the boat. Almost every other comment is positive and most are not focused on me. After nearly 100 videos I think I'm going to do it my way.
Jerry: I'm sure you have seen less pleasing things in other videos, I am not sure why a personal attack is warranted? This boat sold a long time ago. Just exit the video next time, you don't have to look up my nose, just move on.
Great work as always Jeff.I agree with the other comments. The Engine room is very clean. Doesnt look like a 20 year old boat.
Jagpimp: Thank you, it really tells the story of how the current owners look after their boat doesn't it?
Beautiful Defever! Some lucky owner is sure to be enjoying her now.
Prof: Yes, they are and it she is a great DeFever!
The DeFever trawlers are brilliantly designed boats, love them.
Fred: They are a 'bedrock' in the trawler world - sorry, couldn't resist. Agree, good looking, well designed.
I truly love this boat and it's design. Truly timeless, no wonder they sold so many.
Blewyd: Yes, a good looking profile and a flowing layout, Arthur DeFever had a good eye and Wilson Lin put it all together in a quality package

Paul: Arthur DeFever knew what he was doing and left a lasting legacy.
I love this model of DeFever
Mike: You have a good eye for trawlers!
Very nice boat, cleverly designed and well maintained.
Dave: Thank you, I agree!
A clean engine room usually means a well maintained boat. That engine room is clean!
Capt: Exactly and you can see how well they look after the entire boat, real pleasure to have this boat available.
Thank you Jeff. That is a great old boat. A little updating and she looks ready to go. I am one wanting modern electronics but otherwise a full service on things like the life raft and extinguishers and lets go. Cool.

I love this enjine room. Everything is open and easy assecibile.
Pieter: Agree, good lighting, wonderful access.
That is a beautiful boat. Thanks for the tour
Playte's: Thank you for watching!
Sweet boat for a retired couple. Just the right amount of boat to handle. The arch looks like it hinges to fold aft for a great Looper.
Mrchairman08: Yes an ideal size. The arch does have a hinge to lower.

Meant to say *cruising* although they cursed a lot too ..cheers
Pate: DeFever models have different advantages. Layout is super important. Thank you for watching.
Nice boat here! thanks for the tour!
Thoughtful: Thank you for your time and comment!
Fantastic boat!!
Kelly: Thank you, she really is!

It's a nice starter boat, it checks a lot of boxes.
Jason: Yes, or an end boat, two cabins, two heads, two engines, active fin stabilizers, ready to go!
Nice Boat! No time to talk now...... Got to go watch the 360 video! LOL! 😎👍⚓
Captain Rick: You are the best!
I like the shower door. Is the guest head a wet head? (There was a little rug, so I couldn't see the floor.)
Sarah: Yes, wet head. Thank you.
Are ever in the Great Lakes area? Videos?
Mike: Great Lakes are trawler country and I'll do a video there when I get a listing.
That would be a great liveaboard for me.
Matrix: Agree, would work well for a liveaboard.
My friend as a similar boat. Jeff, never noticed the following so will have to re-watch it again, how many hours on the engines? Does it have thrusters? Where is it located at the moment?
IRC: Engine hours approximately 3,260 each, no thrusters, located in Isleton, CA (near Stockton) California Delta.
Does the boat have bow and stern thrusters
Billy: No, Mi Amor does not have bow or stern thrusters. Her twin engines make her nimble. They could be added, but so far none of the owners have felt the need.
Is there any new model on this boat, and how does the bot dealt with rough seas
A Tupou: You would need to speak with Seattle Yachts about production. She behaves well in tough conditions.
In my dream, I have $550K USD to buy and upgrade a trawler as a live aboard. This one checks all the boxes, and at $375K, I'd have enough to do her right.
Scott: We are getting a lot of activity, she is attractively priced. Thanks for your note.
I can Trust Jeff.
KNZ: Thank you, that means a lot!
Info
Daniel - she sold, we have details in the listings sold section of JMYS.com
How much was this?
Approximately $350,000.00 in 2021
Lekker man lekker
Gerhard: Thank you!
used to the max new owner's will need a deep pockets of money
Smokey: Were you watching with your eyes closed again?
Just an FYI, when you shoot a video of the boat, show the boat not yourself all the time.......Thanks.......
Paradise: Noted, thank you.
I do not care what it cost BUT it ould be nicewith a price tag
Rolf: Pricing and hours can change so we don't include them in our videos. All of that with photos, specifications is available on www.JMYS.com thank you!

It's not "planking". It's "grating"!
Leon: Grating is better, thank you.
Videos would be much better with you BEHIND the camera so we see the vessel’s features and NOT you!
Tim: Thank you!

Spatial: Message received and appreciated, thank you.
looks like it needs alot of updates !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Smokey: I disagree. They have made continual improvements and she is beautifully cared for. When someone makes a broad statement like that it's hard to take them serious.

Get your face out of the video. I like this boat and your video is fast enough to keep my attention. It's like a continuous selfie for you.
Austin: Noted. I try new things and the boat sold. Glad you liked the boat, that was the intent.
We want to see the boat not your face
Houk: I can see why.
Thank you
Way too much of that guy's face.
People are here for a boat video.
Rick: Thank you, I'm that guy
Having to look up your nose is kind'a gross.
Jerry: I'm sure you have seen less pleasing things in other videos, I am not sure why a personal attack is warranted? This boat sold a long time ago. Just exit the video next time, you don't have to look up my nose, just move on.
Why do you think we need to see you while you’re filming?? It would be much more productive as a viewer to focus on the boat. WTF dude…
Scott: You must be new to my channel, thanks for watching.
