I’ve actually called Phoenix Police when the handicap spot is taken cutting off my access to places and the officer laughed at me. Tell me there was nothing he could do about it and he had real crimes to go investigate
The cop has a point if they responded to every call regarding parking the criminals would be ruling the streets plus you need to complain to the business owners so that they can try and get a tow truck in to get the spot cleared open.
35 years ago my supervisor at UPS told me to take the handicap spots at strip malls when he was training me. When I brought in the tickets a while later he tried to get me to pay for them. I just laughed and said it's not my vehicle registration that'll get suspended. EDIT: I was young, wanted to do well at my job, but knew what I was doing was wrong... It was in the late 80's
A lot of the time it is hard to find accessible parking. Hard to do a curb in a wheelchair, walker, etc. People who don't understand this are ableist. Disabled are the most discriminated population.
It's not just delivery drivers, parking and handicapped. I'm handicapped, and I completely flip out when someone parks in handicap, I block them in, I start screaming and honking my horn until they leave.And then if they don't leave well, I don't even want to say what happens.

I use to cut up on parking spots and all of that stuff. Honk my horn and argue and everything. Ow I only honk my horn if someone is getting ready to crash into me. Those gig drivers don't care where they park. I live in a condo and often see them in handicap spaces, reserved spots, in the middle of the road, on the sidewalk, etc.. On the other hand, drivers in vehicles with a company name on the side tend to be more respectful of where they park.
I’ve reported such ELEGAL parkers and theyve told me they don’t ticket those elegaly parked cause a lot of papar work and nothing is done

They don't have enough parking spots for delivery drivers obviously. Here in Atlanta we have to hide and run inside really fast before parking meter attendance give us tickets because they target delivery drivers. It's absolutely insane
And watch out for getting a ticket while holding your phone in your hand while in your car for accepting an order. I'm a Door Dasher and deliver flowers. It happened to me. $175.00 worth.
Well, some of these restaurants don't have designated parking spaces for us delivery drivers. So, I have parked in them but it wasn't that long. I also have a sign in my window and at times put on my flashers. In your video, I see plenty other spaces where delivery drivers could park. But, I do agree if there's plenty of non handicap spaces but drivers use the close to the restaurants spots.

I see this happening more and more in Miami,Hialeah,Miramar Florida.I was a nurse 42 years and I use to move patients up to 400 lbs with ease now I can’t even walk due to my back and both knees. Many times I see this young people do this I sit and cry quietly in my car other times I say something and my cop daughter gets mad she says mom people out there are insensitive and she’s afraid they might do something to me….this young ones that abuse the system and not enough cops to give them tickets will get old some day! We all carry a little old person inside! And the system will be worst and who knows there won’t be any handicapped spaces then….like everything that gets abused, gets taken away!!!!!!

So I deliver doordash and I also have a handicap parking permit. Considering that I can see both sides of this situation I would say that the best thing to do is that handicapped people who need that parking space can wait a moment for the delivery driver to leave. These restaurants usually do not provide parking for a delivery drivers or if they do that is being taken by regular customers. We are not getting paid by the hour, if we do not make our deliveries fast we are actually losing money and not making money. The delivery driver will be quick, they will be out of that handicap parking spot in little to no time. I agree that they probably shouldn't park there however there is no other solution until we make legally designated parking spots for delivery drivers like we have legally designated parking spots for handicapped people. Back when taxi cabs existed there were taxi stands on the sides of the street or in parking lots, we need to bring those back but have them for delivery drivers and Uber and Lyft drivers. As for now I will continue parking in the handicap spots when I'm going to pick up my delivery orders but then again I'm also handicapped and have a permit.

That's because the police are often guilty of doing this themselves. When on nonemergency calls - they block emergency egress &/or handicap parking too. Why would then bother enforcing it, that would mean they might have to abide too.
This is what happens when police give up. Cops wouldn't even show up the last 2 times my car got broken into and almost stolen. They don't even give tickets out anymore. This might offend some but undeniably half of people who can use those spots have all day long anyhow. Almost everywhere any delivery can even park for a minute is against code "illegal". If there's five handicap spots open I'll use the furthest one, if that's not consideration enough, whatever. I have noticed how some who have placards, and ramps, can't even park with consideration of others, only themselves. If one side is for unloading chair, then back in allowing access for both people.
@@GrantTravels23 legally the person it is issued to has to be in the vehicle. If you doubt it turn them in. The number on the placard or license is tied to your drivers license or state id. Yes they will check it, take a picture of vehicle and the plate/placard being in violation, take it to police station if they won’t deal with it on the spot.
The Fines should be $500 or based on the previous year federal income taxes if you make $100k you'll pay more than $500. If you require a handicapped space have a phone, have all the non-emergency numbers to your local dispatch center cost these people their rating and $500 or whatever the amount is. once an officer shows up to write them a ticket then let them go if you really want to screw with them and aren't on a fixed income follow and hopefully after the original pick-up and delivery you call again.

We need self police check outs 😅. Like literally develop an app in which we can ticket each other by scanning the plate and barcode 😂. But to be fair, delivery drivers would then also need their own spots and decals just like every product has its own barcode

I called out a delivery driver for doing that, he threatened to beat my a….. when I called business he worked for they did nothing to him, called corporate. When I talked to them they tried to blow me off, told then what driver did was illegal by parking there, they did something when I pointed out they had drivers breaking the law.
As a delivery driver the root of the problem is people will often take the carry out spot so we have nonwhere to park and with most gig jobs we don't get paid by the hour. And before you yell at me insm also handicapped, so i understand both sides of the argument.

Tbh, I did this a few times only when I am very very sure that it won’t last 30secs (some restaurants are quick or if the order is my second pick up order and I’m sure it’s ready.. also at midnight 12am-3am when disabled people shouldn’t be out that late lol just kidding) BUT AFTER WATCHING THIS VIDEO, I’ll be more cautious and try not to park there anymore regardless of the situation except for midnights.. tbh, I’m not doing long walk at 2am.. too many coyote, fox and raccoons etc
The resturants need to withhold the order until the driver moves the car. It's their parking spots for their customers, they need to provide "delivery" spaces and help enforce their own parking lot.

Maybe the stores need to add another entrance for delivery? One that away from the handicap space, so the delivery person can do his or her job.
Lots of businesses have “Pickup Order” spots, all it’ll do is replace a would be handicap so it’s a never ending issue.

Blocking a handicapped spot is illegal and makes it harder for those with physical disabilities. It's called being a decent human being.

Just rent a handy place card. I know lots of people who are ok with $5 a day rent 😅

We need self police check outs 😅. Like literally develop an app in which we can ticket each other by scanning the plate and barcode 😂. But to be fair, delivery drivers would then also need their own spots and decals just like every product has its own barcode
It's not just delivery drivers I wish they quit emphasizing its delivery drivers I am a delivery driver who is handicapped and yes I use the handicap spots also but in most cases I park elsewhere

I called out a delivery driver for doing that, he threatened to beat my a….. when I called business he worked for they did nothing to him, called corporate. When I talked to them they tried to blow me off, told then what driver did was illegal by parking there, they did something when I pointed out they had drivers breaking the law.

Every business that does deliveries needs two or three designated parking spots for deliveries.. maybe just a 10 minute parking spot will work

As a delivery driver the root of the problem is people will often take the carry out spot so we have nonwhere to park and with most gig jobs we don't get paid by the hour. And before you yell at me insm also handicapped, so i understand both sides of the argument.

Tbh, I did this a few times only when I am very very sure that it won’t last 30secs (some restaurants are quick or if the order is my second pick up order and I’m sure it’s ready.. also at midnight 12am-3am when disabled people shouldn’t be out that late lol just kidding) BUT AFTER WATCHING THIS VIDEO, I’ll be more cautious and try not to park there anymore regardless of the situation except for midnights.. tbh, I’m not doing long walk at 2am.. too many coyote, fox and raccoons etc

The resturants need to withhold the order until the driver moves the car. It's their parking spots for their customers, they need to provide "delivery" spaces and help enforce their own parking lot.
How about we give up this silly delivery kick? It only benefits the business that no longer has to maintain a dining area, a cost that is included in the food price. If I want cold, wet food, there's always McDonalds.
Uber eats should let them know that yes you are allowed 2 use those spots but for only 2 hrs and no more.
Don’t they know that gig delivery drivers/workers are exempt from all traffic and parking ordinance/laws? They drive however they want, and park wherever they want.
Enforcement is the issue? When a city the size of Phoenix only has 150 Traffic enforcement officers to begin with, how are they going to enforce something as simple as a parking spot? Yet, everyone wants to defund the police right?
