Highly recommend the Topsider. It's a vacuum hand pumped to draw all the oil from the dip stick housing. Never have to jack the car up. It's fantastic.
Lovely view of the car against the setting sun, but the third brake light is red, not clear, as your video of a month ago demonstrated. I think you should have a discussion with the continuity editor. (GRIN).
Thanks for the feedback dad! 😂 When you film and edit your own videos, it’s easy to miss things like that. Perhaps you would like the role of continuity editor?
@@db192 Just keep using the opening & closing shots as headers & footers, because they reveal the essence of open top motoring, as a beautiful day draws to a close.
You will need 6.5 litres of oil, I would imagine a filter change may need a little more oil but as you say it doesn’t hold any reserve so it may just be to soak the filter paper.
Great video but you need to recheck your instructions on spark plug torque. All information I have seen for the M54B25 engine is plug torque of 25 Nm or 17 ft.lbs.
QUICK QUESTION - When you say the oil capacity is 6.5L, does that mean you put 6.5L in, or is that the maximum? I'm just buying some oil and looking at 4L bottles.
If you are changing the oil filter as well then put in 6.5l of oil with the 2.5 litre. This should bring it up to the correct level. Then just check the oil level to check it’s ok and always good to check again after the first drive to make sure it doesn’t need a top up.
Good spot, I bought the oil online using my registration plate to suggest which one is best and this one was on the list. BMW definitely recommend 5/30 but sometimes a different oil weight is suggested given the age and wear of the engine.
That is a very sensible location for the oil filter. Usually it's in the bowels of the engine bay, unloved & untouched.
Perfectly explained. Well done. Good man
Thank you glad it helped
This video was so helpful! Thank you so much for making one! very much appreciated!

Luckily I have access to a ramp or I would definitely do this instead!
Defo good idea. Bought one the other day. Sucked out oil from Discovery 4 and Honda CRV. Next will be Z4. Great bit of kit.
Cool! will look into this, hopefully not too expensive
Pump might be fine what about sediment in the bottom of pan? Your thoughts?
Nice clear video 👍
Thanks
Thanks! Fantastic video
Thanks!
Awesome videos! Thanks!
You’re welcome, glad it helped
Another great video, many thanks 😀
Amazing. Great quality video. Well explained and made it look simple. Now do i try it on mine or book it in for the service?!?
Thank you for your comments. I would say that if you are confident to do it then have a go, make sure you keep the receipts for the service history!
Thanks very much, have the very same car and won't be selling it as its mint....niceness!!
Awesome! Thank you!
You’re welcome!

Great video! What oil exactly is that - Castrol 5W30M ?
Thank you, yes I used Castro magnatec 5W30 fully synthetic.
@@db192 Thank you!
Ery helpful video going to give it a go in the next few weeks
Glad it helped! I bought it from eBay. Ultra racing have a UK store. Well worth getting for sharper turning abs looks cool too!
I'm guessing the top mount oil filter really doesn't need any extra oil as it's not acting as a reservoir.

Thanks, I got them from a forum so it may have been incorrect information passed on.

Great video except you say the oil it takes is 5/30 BUT the oil your putting in says 0/40?? What gives? Thanks
