Lyrics: I was born the runnin' kind With leavin' always on my mind Home was never home to me at any time Every front door found me hopin' I would find the back door open There just had to be an exit For the runnin' kind Within me there's a prison Surrounding me alone As real as any dungeon with its walls of stone I know runnin's not the answer Yeah, but runnin's been my nature And a part of me That keeps me movin' on I was born the runnin' kind With leavin' always on my mind Home was never home to me at any time Every front door found me hopin' I would find the back door open There just had to be an exit For the runnin' kind I was born the runnin' kind With leavin' always on my mind Home was never home to me at any time Every front door found me hopin' I would find the back door open There just had to be an exit For the runnin' kind
away from home at barely 13yo& been on my own ever since. I'm 70 now with 2 grown kids& 3 grandkids & I had a great life with my wife and family till she passed away. ( cancer 12 years ago in sept.
I to put it simply, my parents were always fighting & would beat the sixth out of us kids, so I ranSept. away at almost 13& never looked back. Has a good life with a wife & 2 kids, but now my wife is gone(cancer).& I'm 70yrs old.
Great song by the greatest of all time real genuine country music it's sad that modern country has gone so far off course and went to the rock and roll sound long live real genuine country music
I get so aggravated when singers cannot sing their own songs... This is Not the case with Mighty Merle Haggard, he got better with time, the more he aged the better he sang... I was working on a computer & manufacturing system in Bowling Green Kentucky a number of years ago and my working partner and I had to stay the weekend, so on Saturday night we decided to go over to Nashville and go to the Grand Ole Opry, it was last minute, so we got tickets on the internet and had them at the will call desk and hauled it over to Nashville, we didn't even know who was going to be there and just decided to go and see the show... When we got there and sit down and the show started, they introduced Merle Haggard.... It was one of the best nights ever.... RIP Mighty Merle... You are surely missed....
I just heard Chance Howland crush this song, and now I’m tearing up at the Hag’s version. I miss this guy so much and I will die sad I didn’t go to his Dec 2015 concert when I could have
Country music is not the same today. I have alot of CDs of old country. I played in a country band back in the 70s and 80s. Did alot of Tanya Tucker and Jessi colters songs. Miss sjnging. Loved it. Merle Haggard and Waylon Jennings and all of them back then loved them all. Clydia McKean.
I was born in 1962 and turned 62 July 2024.ear buds in blasting that music and locked the world outside. I can relate to this song did it many times. In the late 70s 80'S 90's. So much loust with the Lady's. I finally .Still here August 2024
This is my favourite from the album. Running is my nature.... a part of me that keeps me moving on. Been running for the last 15 years and counting.... highway is my home. Now I'm a 25 years old fugitive; a rolling stone.

Lyrics:
I was born the runnin' kind
With leavin' always on my mind
Home was never home to me at any time
Every front door found me hopin'
I would find the back door open
There just had to be an exit
For the runnin' kind
Within me there's a prison
Surrounding me alone
As real as any dungeon with its walls of stone
I know runnin's not the answer
Yeah, but runnin's been my nature
And a part of me
That keeps me movin' on
I was born the runnin' kind
With leavin' always on my mind
Home was never home to me at any time
Every front door found me hopin'
I would find the back door open
There just had to be an exit
For the runnin' kind
I was born the runnin' kind
With leavin' always on my mind
Home was never home to me at any time
Every front door found me hopin'
I would find the back door open
There just had to be an exit
For the runnin' kind
I don't understand

Merle Haggard looks great , even though he is older, he looks great.!
He was a handsome man.
He lived what he wrote and sang about, we are (with a few exceptions) down to Kristofferson and Willie now and when they die so will the industry
