Yes! Wayne's World is still one of my favourite comedies. Gremlins is a movie I watched all the time as a little kid. I'm pretty sure I destroyed the rental vhs copy from our local video store. My parents told me that they think I literally watched our Laserdisc of Gremlins 80 or 90s times... No idea why it's that film, but it just is. And I still love it because of the nostalgia. I know every line of dialogue by heart. A film I watch repeatedly nowadays is John Houston's *The Treasure Of The Sierra Madre.*

Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior is a movie i have seen thousands of times over the years and i still love it. As an Australian kid growing up in the 80s this movie was important for me because it was an Australian film doing it as big and as spectacular as anything that Hollywood was putting out. Its such a superbly made film. Thank you George Miller for creating this masterpiece! I firmly believe thats what a classic film is - a movie you can throw on any time, and never, ever get tired of watching it.

In my younger years (0-18), the movie I saw the most and knew the most was probably _"Scrooge"_ (1951) with Alastair Sims. My family watched it multiple times during December, including multiple times during Christmas Eve while we were opening presents. I might fall asleep, and I could wake up at any point in the movie and instantly know where I was in the movie, and could start quoting lines.
In the late 1980's and 1990's it was probably _"Delicate Sound of Thunder"_ (Pink Floyd). I'm sure that's not the kind of "movie" you expected for an answer, but I replayed that so many times that I wore out the copy released on VHS, and I was pretty far along the way to wearing out a *second* VHS tape when a version on laserdisc was released so I bought that. There is no movie where I watched it so much that I wore out a VHS tape.
From 2000 to now my guess would be _"Mystery Science Theater 3000: This Island Earth"._ Both me and my sister were huge fans of Tolkien while growing up, and we both absolutely loved the Peter Jackson movies ... but it takes too long to watch all three of the extended releases! To watch all three takes over 12 hours, while the riffed version of _"This Island Earth"_ is a mere 1 hour and 15 minutes. It's much easier for me to find 75 minutes to watch a movie than to spend 12 hours watching! This is another movie where I've pretty much memorized the entire movie.

Even as a kid I was kind of cerebral and was drawn to the high concept ideas, especially when it came to origins. • @imarxb
      @imarxb ปีที่แล้ว

@@fazanchaudhry9907 I'm not a writer... But became aware of Akira a couple of years before it's official UK release in early 1991. That's when I saw it, aged 24. At the time I read mostly British, European and some American comics but never any Manga. But had seen a few Japanese animations.
Went with a friend on the first night and was completely stunned. Had never seen so many genres mixed into one film, especially an animation. Didn't know what to think, but I know I enjoyed it. Left me emotionally exhausted. Watched until the last credits along with the entire audience in a full studio. When everyone got up to leave you could hear a pin drop. Even when we got outside of the cinema there was minimal talking with most people just uttering words like wow and unbelievable.
A couple days later I went back to watch it again. Even giving another friend the money to go see it. Couple months after that a few friends and myself traveled a couple hours away to watch it at an university screening. Then not long after that I bought it on VHS. The collectors edition with a separate Production Report. And also a dubbed version which was awful, even changing the ratio for TV.
The year after at Glastonbury 92, I watched it again with a few thousand other people in the cinema field. By then it had gained cult status. With the massive screen and stage speakers, it was an incredible experience.
Years later I bought it on DVD. Where the dubbed version was vastly improved. Before then I would always watch it in Japanese with the subtitles on.
It still remains my favourite film and cinema experience.

It could have been the "Nerds Are Cool" vibe. Still rewatch it once a year. Yes, the film has this dated 80s look and sound, especially the costume design and synth soundtrack. But it's the "Airplane" of comedy sci-fi movies. So much stuff happens in the background, especially on the pa system during the Lectroids lair scene. A cult classic in every way. I'm not sure that I'd go along with likening Star Wars to Lord of the Rings. The last thing Lucas was aiming for was character : it was a riff on Saturday matinee movies and played very much like an early video game. In Lord of the Rings, Jackson was very much into developing character and convincing friendship ties so that you become invested in what happens to each character. The SFX was like a bonus but the core of the film was much more on a personal and human scale.

Star Wars, Holy Grail, Princess Bride, Citizen Kane, and Kurosawa's Dreams--the latter because I wondered why, with the backing of Lucas, Spielberg, and Warner Bros, he chose that as his project.

Definitely those college stoner movies in the 2000s - how high, van wilder, euro trip, road trip.
Made a 12 yr old want to go to college right away!

ya got me there. Haven’t seen it in a while. between 2000-2004 I watched it at least 50x. i still regard it as the ultimate collaborative masterpiece of mainstream cinema. All departments working at their creative peak with gusto.

This happened alot in the 80s were there was no internet and most of us had no cable so only 3 channels so alot of us only had the VHS tapes that our family had accumulated and me along with so many of us would watch and rewatch the VHS movies it was that or watch Regis and Kathy Lee, wheel of fortune, family feud, or the news

I have a lengthy list of movies I watch at least a few times every year. Predator, Terminator 2, The Burbs, Dumb & Dumber, So I Married An Axe Murderer, Ninja Scroll, Ghost in the Shell, Twister, Total Recall, True Lies, Groundhog Day, Almost Famous, Fight Club, The Matrix, 30 Days of Night, Two Hands, Grandma's Boy, Office Space, Life (Murphy & Lawrence), Kill Bill, Mad Max Fury Road and Cloud Atlas. Overall I'd say I've watched The Burbs the most. I'd add Aussie comedy Crackers to this list but I reserve it for once a year at Christmas. Geez now I know why I watch less and less new stuff every year lol!

What about movies you watched over and over as a kid that fill you with shame now: 'Teen Wolf Too', 'The Sherrif And The Satellite Kid', 'Mac And Me', 'The Boy Who Could Fly'. I feel no shame in watching 'The Explorers' so many times, though, a great film even now.

Mine was the polar express. I remember one year I saw it every day in December. That's not saying much because I'm 21 and I still love watching it. I never seen a movie over 31 times but polar express might be at least 300x in my life. I would put Revenge of the sith, Infinity War, and Spiderman 2 after that
