    Don't depend on your kids to take care of you in your old age. Our kids have their own life.
    What we need is to a lot of life-saving money and pay others to take care of us in our old days.

      Exactly idk why Hmong OG keeps expecting their kids to take care of them when they old and if the kids can’t they will curse them. They need to stop that. We live in America and we need to work and pay bills not like Laos.

    Hmong parents needs to change their 1975 mentality of expecting their kids to take care of them. Youre only setting yourself up for disappointment. As a parent, I chose to have kids to experience the joy of raising these little human beings to be productive members of society, to see them grow up to achieve their goals and be happy. Children should not be indebted to their parents for giving them life and caring for them. When you choose to have kids, you should be prepared for the responsibility of taking care of your kids without expecting anything in return. Dont get me wrong, it would be nice to have our kids take care of us but dont guilt trip your them if they dont do it. They have their own life and family to support also. To say your kids are selfish if they dont fulfill that duty, just make you selfish as well.

    One thing I hate is how parents compare their love for their children to their children's love for them because it's not the same! koj thov lub ntuj kom koj yug lawv, g yog lawv thov lub ntuj kom lawv los yug koj na. Stop comparing! There's no comparison, esp between a baby's 💩 vs adult 💩!

    • @maryly09
      @maryly09 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's not the same. Caring for a baby is different from caring for an elder. Wiping a baby's poop is different from wiping an old person's poop. Don't shame your kids for not being able to care for u like u cared for them. And don't even compare the two bc they are like apples and oranges only.

    • @gurl08
      @gurl08 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I agree! As parent, we gave birth to our children willingly. Our love should be unconditional. However, it’s unfortunate that some parents feel that their love comes with a price.

    • @mayalor5081
      @mayalor5081 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I totally agree with you on that. Parents need to understand that just because their children don't take care of them during old age doesn't mean they don't love them. That's a big responsibility.

    I think everyone is quick to judge when he mentions how his kids wont take care of him. I think hes just coming from a hurt and broken heart. His love for his kids are eternal, and just wish they would love him back and care for him that way as well with or without the governments aid. He is a gentle soul. But of course everyone has their own perspective of his story. Great story!

    Hmong people, especially the old generation, don’t know the concept of saving for retirement. Their retirement is their kids so they have many kids in hope that one will take them in and care for them. That might work in Laos/Thailand but not here in the US. Also, stop comparing your love to your kids as a debt. This expectation of “I cared for you when you were a baby so now you have to do the same for me in my old age” is crazy. Your kids didn’t ask to be born. That was your decision so it’s your responsibility to care for them until 18.

  • @amazinggrace8136
    @amazinggrace8136 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    It’s annoying when I hear parents complain about how their children don’t take care of them like the parents did when the children was a baby/growing up. IT IS NOT THE SAME THING!

    • @daisyvue
      @daisyvue ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes!!! That should not be a reason to have children. Having children and parenting should be unconditional. Knowing that you've raised kind and independent human beings who can sustain themselves is the ultimate reward of having children. Telling them and expecting them to care for you as you did for them when they were young is conditional and is a set up for unattainable expectations and disappointment for both parents and children.

    • @kevinthomas3539
      @kevinthomas3539 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, it shouldn’t be the reason, but as children we should look at it as an HONOR, to serve our parents in their golden years! It’s hard to care for aging parents and it takes all the children to coordinate care so the serving is evenly distributed.

    • @amazinggrace8136
      @amazinggrace8136 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@kevinthomas3539 Key word “Golden years”. Most Hmong parents stay with one of their children their whole lives. Plus, I believe everyone should be saving for their own retirement/funeral. Be a blessing, not a burden to your loved ones.
