Hornady 9mm Bullet Feeding Die Redo/FAIL - on Dillon XL750: Part 1 - Last 2022 Video??

As many of you already know, I like to run my progressive presses as mechanically as possible, no electronic bullet or brass feeders. I initially installed a Hornady 9mm bullet feeding die on my XL750 when I assembled all the parts in early 2020. I added the SocalSW Mag-P bullet feeder.
For the most part things worked. Not quite sure when things went south but a while back I was spending more time dealing with bullet feeding issues than I was with producing 9mm rounds. Time consuming as well as frustrating.
So I decided to fix my bullet feeding die. FAIL. Just made it worse. Decided to start from scratch and replace the die. This video is the first of two videos covering that replacement process.

Took screw driver and spread out the slots a little

As you found out, these dies are very sensitive to adjust, and don't try any bullets that aren't smooth sided (lead or coated lead with crimp grooves or cannelure, waste of time). The funnel is the PTX bullet expander for the LNL AP case activated powder drop. After spending $$ to get these feeder dies for all 8 of my pistol calibers and getting tired of all the hassle (like you are experiencing), spent $46 each on 3 DAA Mr Mini Billet feeder dies that cover all 8 handgun calibers plus their 223 and 30 cal dies, all issues disappeared, only adjustment is die depth for bullet release. The Hornady dies now just sit and gather dust. BTW, the RCBS handgun bullet feeder dies are even worse, but their rifle bullet feeder dies work just fine. SoCalSW makes the bully adapter for the DAA dies also, or you can wrap some electrical tape around the top of the DAA die and use the Hornady type you've already bought.

With all the resources they have, Hornady should really get their shit together. They should be able to do better than this. Somebody sleeping at the wheel at Hornady.

Dear lord, there has to be a better design out there. I’m curious how the weight of the stack of bullets will behave against those collets? That thing seems to be way too sensitive.
