Black Friday 2024 "Deals" - Local Pick Ups
Black Friday is always a crazy day for one reason or another. In the past I've picked up some deals for BF and the same is true for this year. But for 2024, I decided to do my "local" shopping much later in the day to try and avoid all the rush/crazies. Hit my fav big box shops in the evening and didn't really have anything specific I was looking for so that means I was susceptible to the "bin bait" of cheapie/cheesy tools/items in the cardboard bins that were "heavily" (yeah, sure) marked down. Then the more expensive items caught my eye and my wallet.
The two "deals" actually turned out to be relatively decent deals as compared to their "normal" prices. I guess you have to decide for yourself what that normal price is based on either the in store or online pricing/marketing and what to or not to believe (for example, are things artificially marked up and then a sale price listed to entice you more towards a purchase). In any case, I picked up a few items I will actually use on the channel and in the garage for project work, so I'd call that a score for BF 2024.

Unboxing & First Look: Large Tactical Backpack
มุมมอง 984 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
If you follow the channel, you know I'm a sucker for a "deal" and the daily deals gets me every once and a while. This time was no exception. This large tactical backpack (go bag, get home bag, etc.) was 50% off (I never know how valid those deals are) so I looked at the specs and decided to go for it. Here is my unboxing and first impressions.
SHOCKED! - Unboxing / First Look: TEMU EOTECH Clone...WOW - Red & Green Reticles
มุมมอง 2.4K9 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Doing this video caught me completely off guard and quite frankly shocked me to be honest. I found this product by accident while browsing FBM for channel ideas (e.g., restoration, projects, etc.) and saw the marketing tile and decided to click on it. I have friends/family who don't have too much positive to say about TEMU, so I have tended to stay away. I can get enough cheap, knockoff and or ...
"New" Old Dual Channel Dashcam Replacement
มุมมอง 7514 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
If you own your own dashcam for your vehicle, I'm betting you've experienced one or more of the following situations: 1. Memory card fails or corrupt videos 2. Camera stops keeping the correct time 3. Camera fails completely I tried to remedy the situation by picking up a used version of my same model that is no longer made, only to find out the seller scammed me. I then "repaired" or so I thou...
BEST Buy vs Amazon: Samsung G7 Odyssey Neo G7 43" 4K Monitor Rant
มุมมอง 13521 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
I've heard before that BEST BUY is Amazon's showroom. I think that used to be more accurate when BEST BUY was more expensive than Amazon, but now for many if not most items, especially in the electronics space, BB is either the same cost or a bit less than Amazon from my experiences. Case and point. Guy at work tells me about his 43" monitor on his standing desk. I didn't even know PC monitors ...
DIY Project: "Building" a Standing Desk
มุมมอง 125วันที่ผ่านมา
I've considered a standing desk off and on for a few years now. Working remotely and sitting down at my desk all day long probably isn't the healthiest position to be in for long periods of time. I finally decided it was time to get a standing/height adjustable desk. Looked online and found I couldn't get exactly what I was looking for in a single, ready to assemble package. Either the top was ...
Late 2024 LP Primer Cost - Still Too High IMO
มุมมอง 1.5Kวันที่ผ่านมา
So for those of you who reload, you know the painful reality of any primers from a cost and availability point. For years they've either been scarce, very scare or unavailable. The meant the cost-demand financial model kicked in and prices skyrocketed. Still too high in my opinion. This video is about a recent local and VERY old new stock purchase. In 2010 primers were $.02 ea. My lowest non-co...
Rubber Picatinny Rail Cover - No More Sharp Edges
มุมมอง 5414 วันที่ผ่านมา
The stocks on some long p e w p e w s sometimes have a small picatinny rail to mount mono pods or other rail compatible devices. Depending on your seated position and how you hold your arms, the sharp edges of the rail can "bite" a bit. This short video covers a solution I've found for that bit of discomfort.
New N+2 Data Storage Strategy: Sabrent Dock = Flexibility & Redundancy
มุมมอง 12514 วันที่ผ่านมา
This video covers my next steps in my new approach to a better (for me) data storage strategy given my most recent RAID 5 enclosure power failure. What good is having RAID if the perfectly functioning hard drives are inaccessible due to a chassis or enclosure failure? This N 2 approach focuses on housing and accessing disk drives at their fundamental level and implementing a manual RAID 1 or mi...

NAS RAID Failures: 2007 to 2019 and New Storage Strategy
มุมมอง 16614 วันที่ผ่านมา
I jumped on the NAS bandwagon in the early 2000's with, if memory serves, a NetGear 2 drive mirror set. A few years later I picked up offerings from Thecus (N4100 and N4100 Plus models) that offered expansion in a decent form factor and implemented RAID 5. Thinking more about an N plus 1 strategy I picked up a Synology DS416slim in 2019 and instead of the 3.5 inch drives for the Thecus, I used ...

DIY Holiday / Christmas Project: Santa Mailbox

About a year ago I was walking through a local department store and they had some Christmas decorations that caught my eye. Specifically, a Santa Mailbox. Where did you say you had your case prep center dust cover made? Thanks
I brought the duckbill/canvas cloth I picked up at a local fabrics store to a local tailor that I've had do quite a number of my covers.
My 2 cents. I am former military [ Navy HM3 ], and an outdoor/ prepping enthusiast for many years. Like you, I have purchased some products based largely upon price, and have learned a lesson that many others also have. Using inexpensive and poorly made gear for casual purposes isn't a big deal, it will suffice until you discover it has some serious shortcomings. But purchasing inexpensive gear for what may be a life and death purpose is a fool's errand. As you say, the purpose here is " bug out " or making movement under duress. You want gear that isn't going to suck nor fail at a critical moment. The bag you showed is not the kind of bag you want to bet your life on. C V Life is one of many purveyors of cheap, poorly made stuff that will suffice under ordinary, casual use. Of course, it will fail over time, zippers will break, stitching will fail, etc. For everyday use, that's just inconvenient. But under life and death circumstances, gear failure can be devastating. Buying this kind of gear has to be purpose driven. The $40.00 you spent on that bag could have been put toward a more purpose driven bag that will hold up under harsh conditions and probably last a " lifetime ". How much is your life worth?
Thanks for the perspective. Appreciated. I'm a firm believer in getting what you pay for and my expectations of this backpack align with what I paid.
I enjoy your videos - Can you tell me the size of the Quick Change Tool Post? I see sizes like AXA, BXA, OXA - I'm confused on what size fits on this lathe. I have ordered this exact lathe and expect delivery this week and would like to change this out as soon as possible. Thanks so much.
Thanks. Hope they help in some way or another. My quick change tool post and tool holders are size 0XA. Good luck with your new lathe.
@ Thanks so much. Take care.
Take it from someone with an astigmatism who tried one of these. It’s not a holographic sight. It’s a dot.
After closer look, totally agree.
The magnifier is actually pretty useful and the NV will change the color from red to green it's definitely not water prof also it may hold zero if you put a little lock tight on the adjustment threads but lol. But the magnifier once again is pretty useful. Vid a little long, but look to see your range report
My son said the same thing about the magnifier, which in my opinion, is the real (no pun intended, as this absolutely is a fake/clone and I'm not trying to say it's anywhere near the real McCoy) "deal" here. Would I put this on a long pew pew I need to run with? No way. Airsoft or PCP long pew pew? Why not.
@ReLoadersBench I actually purchased that to just tinker with and see what happened. Messed up the glass so trashed it. Mine had the logo like the real deal, but the NV button was a giveaway because it changed from red to green. I do use the magnifier, so I'm not mad
I watched on 2x and it was still way too long.
and jumped over to your channel to see how you do it...and to no surprise...you don't. Imagine that. Seems all the experts on how to make a YT video have no content of their own as an example. Gotta love the keyboard critics.
God damn man over a half hour and u didn't even test it out??? And saying even if it doesn't hold zero it's still good? What??? That's way more important than how it looks!!! I just wasted 15 min (I watched it in x2 speed) for nothing
sounds like you need to call a whambulance...
and how do you no if the original ones are real ,and not fake ,,,no guarantee , possibly made in same factory
That's simple. I don't trust ANY company selling EOTECH/Aimpoint (or any other high end optic/holo/sight), so I always verify the serial numbers (real products have them) with the vendor to confirm authenticity. Also, I will only purchase this type of REAL gear from known/trusted sources (e.g., Brownells, MidwayUSA, etc.). Rain forest has SO many fakes, but if willing to use them, make sure FREE RETURNS.
The key is to use it? You didn't use the cheap stuff to actually shoot at the range?
Oh I'll mount it on something and take it to the range for fun just to see. My real interest is in the magnifier, however.
One time at band camp.
It’s perfect for my Hi-point 1095😊
10min just to open the damn box and show the damn product.. and after 30min.. we still dont get to see the damn thing in use on a firearm! - Damn it!
Range report will be my next long winded report/video.
Very thorough and informative video. Thank you!
Opens box at 09:07 thank me later^^
5 minutes just to unpack the thing... Life is too short for your shit.... You're outta here...
Shut up and open the damn thing....
I bought a “Gibson” Les Paul from some Chinese company several years ago. Looks wise? AMAZING! All the logos and hardware looked as good if not better than the real deal. Function wise? As expected, there is no way to get that Les Paul sound thorough cheap Chinese pick-ups. Looks cool on the stand in my living room I guess!
Brother. Shortened these things up. Chop. Chop. Got paint to watch gettin dry.
I watched other video, EO are made here. I forgot which state.
Nice to know some things are still made in the U.S.A.
Michigan
Sadly they dont hold zero
No surprise at all. Essentially a Hollywood prop.
I agree that customer service im person has gotten worse with the new generations. Also, with phone and online customer service being exsported outside the country, everything across the board is bad. I will say the service i got in Bestbuy in Oklahoma was pretty good. What state do you live in?
EOTech changed their logo in 2016 from whats on the temu box to whats on your boxes
All my Temu Trl1 hl lights i paid 40$ run as good as one on sale for 135$. Their Romeo5 optics are just as well too.
They are not "just as good" and if you think they are you're either blind or just don't have the real thing to compare it to. Wait till it gets wet or you drop it although I get the feeling most of the people who buy this kind of stuff will use it once and then hang it on their wall to look at and never use again. Plus you're supporting the theft of intellectual property when you buy products like this from shady sources on Temu. There are plenty of good reasons why this is actually illegal in America and reputable retailers won't knowingly carry knock offs of American products. Streamlight and EOTECH spent lots of time and money to develop these products and provide paychecks to American workers. The owner of the factory in China that made these cheap fakes isn't going to spend the money you gave them on developing next gen red dots and lights, or even pay a fair wage to its workforce. There are absolutely amazing less expensive options out there when it comes to optics these days, so why support theft from American businesses? Because you covet the logo? To convince your friends you're a "cool guy" and bought the real thing? It's just a sad and pathetic reason to support theft. Save a couple more shekels and get the real thing if you love the brand so much you would buy a knock off just for the logo. This sad mentality and shady business practices are part of the reason why these products cost so much in the first place and why so many American jobs get "shipped over seas" BUY AMERICAN!!! or don't, like I said there are lots of great inexpensive options out there, but don't support the theft of American ideas or spew this nonsense that these knock offs are the same thing or somehow equal to real American products... Especially with that flag in background of your profile picture, you should be ashamed of yourself brother.
They're still selling the same model numbers for cheaper. today it is selling for $96.89 to be honest I've seen other channels stress testing these Temu and other Chinese manufactured models they found online , most of them paid more than you did . The stress testing didn't go well. But i think if your just using them to do some plinking , or airsoft, or target practice they are better than the real deal... one because they are much much much less expensive , two if they break you don't have to freak out, 3 as I alluded to before you aren't depending on them for defending your home , or using them for purposes of hunting game Etc. they are actually a decent little deal to have something that works , clearly not as well as a real deal Eotech but they do work for having a good plinking session.
Ed Brown poor or non-responsive customer service is disappointing to hear.
Thanks for the work done so far. Looking forward to the range test. It would be nice if it works and provides a budget minded alternative for people that can't afford to spend over a thousand dollars on an optic.
Black Friday sale for 55$ now
Even better. I thought it was a good combo deal at $100. For $55...a steal as long as you realize what you are buying.
ANY DAYYYYYY!!!!!!!! now
lol I was thinking the same thing
are you able you able to send a link to the page?
if you go to TEMU dot com and search for "eotech sight with magnifier combo" you'll see the available versions.
We share the same taste in bullet/brass cans and table saws. 😂
I have seen other videos with people praising/impressed with hobby stuff for their interest and they were also surprised with price/quality of "stuff" from that site. Glad you did well :-))
You have done an incredible job restoring this beautiful old saw. Can't wait for your next video.
Thanks, it was truly a labor of love...expensive love, LOL.
🤔
Black Friday sale doe 55$ now
Looks INCREDIBLY dim compared to a real eotech.
Maybe I should have shown the red/green reticle at its highest and lowest settings. I run my EOTECHs with just enough visibility to overlay the target, not wash it out. This clone/knockoff is just as bright (and just as barely visible on its lowest/lower settings) as my real EOTECHs. Unfortunately, the camera doesn't pick it up so well. Again, for $100 I can't complain. It's definitely better than any of my no name cheapie red dot sights, that's for sure.
It doesn't account for leadscrew backlash
Ummm, what do you expect, it's a low end/budget "solution" on a low end/budget mini lathe? I got what I paid for and I'm satisfied with that. Machining is a hobby at best for me, not an activity where I derive my livelihood.
Didn't actually test the knock off. Very poor review.
And the reason to test an obvious fake product is? Especially when the price was almost the same as the OEM. Do you hear yourself? Stupid comment. Knowingly purchasing a knockoff or clone for MUCH less $ would have been a reason to spend time on a review. That wasn't the case. Maybe you should try making a video for your channel, Jerry, instead of trolling channels that are actually posting work/content.
What is the brand of your metal rack ? I built a wooden one but would prefer a metal rack.
That storage rack is made by Whalen. Picked up at Costco.
Hello & good afternoon I have A quick question would ?U happen to know where can I purchase the same battery back U have?
The only Taser model that shipped with that specific battery pack was the Pulse Plus (+). From what I am able to find, or rather, not find, they are basically unobtanium. Shame.
Glad you posted this! I just got the same lathe and was like "Wait... where the heck is the motor?!" Didn't realize it was built around the spindle like this. I haven't seen that on any of the other mini lathes. Mine works fine for now, but it does make me a little nervous for the future. Much more difficult to replace/upgrade than the conventional motor design and placement.
You gonna buy this today though?
Reminded me of a car salesman...only interested in "helping" me if I was going to purchase...otherwise his time/effort wasn't worth it. These folks don't realize their jobs depend on folks not taking the easier path of not driving to their local BB, but instead staying home and clicking the mouse a few times, adding items to their cart and having them conveniently delivered to their door relatively quickly all for the same price or lower.
You didn't want to get one of the OLEDs? They are only 34 inches though. I had issues with the neo g7 and displaying gridlines while gaming.
😊
Wait until you see the finished version. Came out way beyond expected or hoped. Truly amazing machine now with a second life.
My white and red stripe boxes were bought in 1987-1988.
My recent overpriced, IMO, pick up is definitely vintage!
If I remember correctly I heard Palmetto State Armory was spinning up a primer manufacturing facility to go with their AAC line and I think I heard they spent $100,000,000 on it. That is crazy money.
No doubt. Gotta sell a LOT of primers at $100/brick to break even on $100,000,000 investment!
FYI... Smelting is the process of turning raw oar from the ground into usable alloy. The art of bullet casting requires you to "melt", not "smelt" your alloy
