    I usually don’t ever comment unless I have a question…but with the Mode Envoy at $189 or the QK80 at $180 or even the Bakeneko at $100 or for wireless QK60 at $159 the prices of these novelty keyboards featured are outrageous! Just to throw in a fully built comparison the Keychron Q4 at $169 I mean come on, those are just a few full aluminum/polycarbonate keyboards you should be featuring on your channel. You guys have the technology to test all of these great boards at the highest level. You could really get a lot of the custom keyboard community viewers on board (no puns). Just saying especially you Plouffe, I’m sure any of those board designers would be happy to get a board on your channel with the millions of viewers. This way you can actually recommend (high quality) good sounding “budget” boards that some people don’t even know exist (non-keyboard enthusiasts buying a razer keyboard that don’t know any better). Just my two cents…

    • @phatanhduyle7259
      @phatanhduyle7259 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The circular style keycaps are a shorten down version of MT3 keycaps, which to some is more comfortable to type on, just not because of it being rounded but rather taller, more concave in the middle of each key and has a more aggressive curve between the rows.
      But yea, for this specific board, the keycap set being round is essentially just for look

There are a TON of other possible recommendations in the space now, so it's pretty great as a keyboard hobbyist now.

    I got myself a DareU low profile mechanical keyboard 5-6 years ago, the EK820 68 keys. Back then it was pretty unique and no one else are making them except for Keychron, which cost a lot more in my regiion. I like the blue switches so much that I bought a second one with red switches. Today there are much more choices available, and even DareU themselves released a successor - EK868.

    I have Nixies on one of my boards and they're...okay. Def need to be lubed because they're pretty scratchy, not so much filmed because they're pretty tight (at least mine were), but otherwise okay. Super interesting switches and I'm glad to have a board with them on there, but...IDK if I'll go out of my way to buy them again.

    Probably sacrilege to say I'm the custom keyboard sphere but I honestly just wish there was a board with the same layout as likes of the Corsair k95. I use the number pad consistently, the media keys for 2nd monitor content and have a few qol macros on that left side row but dosen't seen to be a board that has all of those along with hot-swap

    • @Monique-iz8lp
      @Monique-iz8lp ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There are some full size custom boards too, although nowhere near as many. Your best bet would probably be a separate numpad/macropad, like keychron Q0 or Megalodon 38%. Then you have all the extra keys you need, and the freedom to pick any board you want

    • @kli.4162
      @kli.4162 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Maybe have a look at the keychron q6. It has basically the same layout as the k95 minus the programmable keys on the back. But it does have a volume knob and 4 extra keys above the numpad. Plus qmk support and hot swappable switches. I‘m going to get it myself since I also wanted a full size mechanical but with ISO layout instead of qwerty, which there are a lot less options for in general, so It‘s really my only choice.

If you want something that sounds nice and thocky (unlike the very tinny sound coming from these) then make sure to get the foam and silicone inside and the aluminum case. It's not gonna cost much more than these but you get much more value. Whatever you decide, don't forget that this video is an ad so do your research before purchasing.

    These are dedicated keyboards, meant primarily to be used on a desk. So... Why do they insist on having the keys crammed just like in a laptop's keyboard, and don't even have a Numpad (which even my laptop has)? Damn, even their arrow keys aren't separated from the rest of the keys. Seems super uncomfortable.

      I'd say having crammed keys is better, less travel space between each key allows for quicker typing.

    Any ideas on what to buy if my Corsair mk2 k70 low profile dies? (Full sized, wired, low profile keyboard with RGB, preferably Cherry red/brown switches and that has German layout) Thank you

    The guided channel for the USB-C cable is extremely annoying if you happen to lose their proprietary connector since 3rd party ones most likely won't fit... You've seen it before by Razer and scold them for it all the time, so sounds fake when you suddenly say it's cool.

    isn't long overdue a video for silent mechanical keyboards now that the Cherry MX silent ara available?
    Maybe if there are budget options employers would stop buying crappy membrane ones

    I hate the look of the rounded key caps. Also how that pink chassis has the edges form to the rounded key caps so you probably couldn’t even install standard caps. Or they would look awful if they did fit.
