The absolute most valuable accessory for these cameras are lens adapters for other lens mounts. Legacy/vintage lens and other non native glass provides a new look and quality to these cameras thanks to the mirrorless design. I have several different adapters and lenses and I find that with Sony's focus peaking and magnification, it is a joy to use old lenses and the best part is that they're very cheap and can provide amazing results.
Just wanna say that the SmallRig really is the first thing you should look at. Its really cheap, sturdy and makes your camera that much more versitile by adding mounting points and a better grip.
You mention having filmed a long wedding ceremony using the battery grip. Can you share about how you do that with the a6500 without running into overheating issues? I have two a6500s and I"m terrified of filming long events with them because of this. Would REALLY appreciate your strategy for this type of work. Thanks!
Sony NP-F batteries are the best. The 970 one lasts me a full wedding day with the a6500. Best purchase ever. Also The Zhyjun Mini Dual Handle is the best gimbal accessory ever invented. It gives a comfortable grip, has the hot-shoe on top to put on the battery base plate for my NP-F, I can put light on it. In addition I can put down the gimbal on a flat surface with it, without the need of the mini tripod. I now you are a huge fan of Zhiyun Crane gimbals, but I'd recommend to you to test out the feiyu-tech a1000. same payload as the crane v2, acra base plate, and it has the design of the ronin-s that allows you to see the screen of the camera. also it is more compact than the Crane V2. ;)
I love my Peak Design Capture Pro clip, BUT ... I did have an instance once where I dropped my a6500 because I didn't clip it in securely (my fault). Luckily, the camera hit the ground on the corner near the battery compartment and there was only very mild body damage to the camera. Still works like a champ, thankfully.
Jason Vong I’m incredibly fortunate it didn’t completely destroy the camera since it was dropped from waist height. And in fact, that’s what led me to buy a SmallRig cage for a little extra protection. Lol
I have been watching alots of your videos, really enjoy them. I am using the samyang 35mm 1.4 for Sony A7M3. My subjects of shooting is not particular. Thinking to change my lens to Tamroj 28-75mm 2.8. Can you give me an advice? Really appreciate for your time.
Yes, i've a manfrotto tripod, a quick release manfrotto on my crane +, and put the peak design pro (last one, without any adapters - jason i confirm - on my a6500 and my backpack. my a6500 can be fixed everywhere in a few seconds
This is awesome! I have never known on the battery gip. Yes I do agree with you the V2 with dual handle is a beast! sufficient enough for the a6500. However, for monitor suggestion, I rely a lot on face recognition AF and reviews mentioned it doesn't work with Small HDfocus. What about the Atomos Ninja V ? Does face recognition works if records 4k internally / externally? Thanks in advance Jason ! Love your sony reviews =)
Cool video 👍. I have a question I have seen those red things on the camera on multiple videographer’s camera. What are those two red circles attached to both sides of your camera?
They are called Peak Design Camera Anchors, They are used with the Peak design quick strap to quickly attach and detach your camera straps. I personally have them on all my cameras
@@CallMeRabbitzUSVI Hey. Thanks for letting me know. It’s was a very old comment but thank you very much for still replying to it. I forgot to edit my first comment but yeah. I went to Best Buy after a few weeks from the comment and found it there. Thank you again! :)
Does the a6500 still over heat and turn off with the battery grip with 2 batteries in it? Kuz my a6500 over heated and turned off at 30minz at a wedding...good thing it was my back up
Melvin Pacheco use a small rig with an external monitor. Pull the lower screen away from the body. Use an external monitor to power the 6500. Turn the overheating option to high. You shouldn’t have the issue after that.
Im having difficulties each time to record video need to turn ON/OFF at right side of the cam even using the xternal monitor especially using the gimbal..any other optional xternal monitor that record simultaneously?plzz help me..thanks ^_^
Watson Duo LCD Charger with Two NP-FW50 Battery Plates B&H # WADSONPFW50 MFR # D-4228. My favorite charger. I have two of them. LCD display for charge progress.
On professional shoots with time i always go with a set of fixed ND's. On everything else the Tiffen and B+W ND's are pretty good but can have disadvantages to fixed ones. So it depends.

Awesome man! I hear great things when people adapt Canon FD Lenses

still to this day, my favorite cage. The ones for FF are too clunky
Indeed. Am actually thinking of making my own handles for it, i have a weakness for bamboo...
That bokeh is insane on some of these shots!

One question: When I use an external Monitor with sony a 6500 the built in monitor turns off. How did you manage that both are working?
Gotta shoot in 1080p :(
Hi Jason, you can make a 2021 video out of this. I have a Sony A6600. It would be nice to see what has changed since 2018.
Have you ever tried using the crane with the battery grip on? Great video!!
I have not, lemme see!
Interested to know if it works as well
You recommend this mieki grip over the other third party grips?
thanks Jason for the great informative video 👍👍👍

my heart ached for you man :(

Hello!hows the battery grip?does it flex when attached to the body?or it feels solid?
Can you recommend a tripod for beginners. I’m going to use it to take my own family pics. I have a busy toddler and will likely be shooting outdoors
Great Video! I wanted to give new life to my a6300!!
Some of these items would definitely do that!
What’s a good all around lense for a6300 landscape and some portrait ? Ty

Hi Jason, Do you know how to turn off the monitor LED (Andycine4k) with the battery on?
What about for Sony a6000... Plus the video mic... Some suggestions please!!!
Yo bro,is the meike grib work well with dji ronin s?

Hi Jason thx for this vid ! do you have a link to buy a good HDMI cord for this screen ? I bought like 4 different and they all broke :(
So I can use the peakdesign capture clip connected to my camera. And then with the quick release from Manfrotto attached to my zhiyun crane 2?
Yes, i've a manfrotto tripod, a quick release manfrotto on my crane +, and put the peak design pro (last one, without any adapters - jason i confirm - on my a6500 and my backpack. my a6500 can be fixed everywhere in a few seconds

Hey I know this is an old vid but can you use the peak design capture clip with the smallrig cage?
How'd you get the sun's natural lighting to glow like that on the subject in focus?
The AF did a great job!
Hey man, are those Alpha colored (Orange) Anchor Links??? :D Where the hell did you get them?! :D
This is awesome! I have never known on the battery gip. Yes I do agree with you the V2 with dual handle is a beast! sufficient enough for the a6500.

It did not for me. Make sure you turn on the Extended Temperature Warning so it prevents itself from shutting off
would the monitor show when you are recording on the a6000 or the a6300
ND Filters, Learnt it a hard way.
Nice video bro. I’m happy to see you and your beautiful lady working together.

Jason Vong 😁
How about a budget (under 100USD) gimbal?
Selling Sony a6300+50mm Lens only been used couple time
nice!!!
display cool!
its my dream to find a girl that loves the same work as i do
Dreams come true.
Putting my camera into my PD capture clip never made me feel as content as Jason looked in that b-roll footage. Maybe I'm doing it wrong :/
hahaha!!
Love from pakistan
thanks for watching!
α6000,,,,,,
Had a mic in most of the shots but no mention of it, not even in the links. Must've been a crappy mic or hella pricey.
i can get 6000 shots or 6hours of filming with 1 charge on my 80d w batterygrip
👍👍👍👍
Tha bokeh though
the buttery bokeh look from the Sigma 135mm f/1.8
no official battery grip because...drum roll please........APS-C is DED.
hahahah!
जब L C D है तो इस की क्या जरूरत है
yup. really useful. however will add another 8lbs of weight in your backpack and may shortened your lower back lifespan.lol
ND's
oh absolutely! Which do you recommend?
On professional shoots with time i always go with a set of fixed ND's. On everything else the Tiffen and B+W ND's are pretty good but can have disadvantages to fixed ones. So it depends.
