    *What is your favorite camera hack, tip or feature that you think people should know about?*

    • @abhirupbasu3761

      All tips were great but I loved the time lapse tip the most!! 😄😄🔥

      Super handy hey! I love that function too.

    • @cabinadefotos
      @cabinadefotos 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great video! Another hack is that you can install apps to it, basically it's running a modified version of Android and there is a way to install custom apps that are not accessible in the camera's store. For example I wanted to install the time lapse app from Sony but since I don't live in the u.s. The App Store did not let me buy it. So after some research I found out you can install custom apps. So there is a time lapse app which lets you take time lapses in photo mode with silent shooting!

      Juanx- That’s so true! I think there is an “app” that disables the recording limit as well

    I just picked up a Sony 6500. Thanks for those great little hidden features, Dunna. For the focus tap zoom in feature you can actually set a time for when it jumps back out to regular view. This way you don't have to double tap again.

    • @dunnadidit
      @dunnadidit  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes I think it even defaults to this feature but I disabled it for fear of smashing my camera for ever time it snapped back out when I was trying to focus haha! Thanks for watching Borgi!

    Gotta say, this was good. Thanks for all the tips and tricks. I love my a6500 but definitely feel like I don't use it to it's potential. I mainly shoot action photography and often have a difficult time with autofocus but I do like the camera (and lenses) and am happy to learn more about hot to use it properly. Thanks again.

    Memory recall is my jam! Got 4k 24fps and 1080 120fps set up and it's so handy.

    • @dunnadidit
      @dunnadidit  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That was how I originally set it up too! Lately, it’s S&Q on one, 120fps on the other, and then I spend 90% of my time in manual mode and I just make sure I’m on 24fps there.

    • @ekphotography
      @ekphotography 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Dunna Did It S&Q you lose quality, that is a no no.

    • @dunnadidit
      @dunnadidit  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s still a higher bit rate than the video that the a6000 shoots and I was happy to post the videos I created with that camera, so for the convenience it affords me, I still like it. It depends on the situation though, if it’s something that I ABSOLUTELY need to have top quality and crazy editing capability, I’ll shoot a raw photo timelapse. But there are lots of situations where that process is cumbersome and not really necessary. For example, you can shoot a quick timelapse on your phone and it can be more than useable for a vlog or something like that.

    • @eaeastudio5923
      @eaeastudio5923 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My memory recall is slow, whenever i switch the dial 1 and 2, it pop up the setting information, this wasted few seconds where i can't start shooting instantly.

    • @dunnadidit
      @dunnadidit  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ea Ea Studio - interesting, I don’t switch modes often but I haven’t noticed them taking a lot of time. I’ll have to pay attention to this from now on.

      My favourite is the silent shooting tip which allows the seamless switching between video picture profile and RAW photo shooting w/o any effect. Bonus tip I personally came across which is handy I'd like to share with you is to set up the "Custom Key (PB)" to launch the Application List. I found this useful when I need to use my smartphone as a remote trigger. Further, I've arranged the "Smart Remote Control" app on the camera as the first app so when I need to use my phone to communicate with the camera I'm only 3 button clicks away! You should try it too, beats having to dig through the menu to find the Application List when you need it. Happy creating! 🤩

    Fantastic work as always! My favorite camera hack currently is white balancing for tungsten light and using those lights as practicals in daylight scenes. It looks so naturally beautiful.

    • @dunnadidit
      @dunnadidit  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cool! I think I get what you’re saying but can you explain a bit more? Balance the camera for tungsten so instead of looking orange, the tungsten lights look daylight and the daylight looks more blue? Or balance for daylight so that the daylight looks natural and the tungsten has that warm orange glow?

    • @JomToons
      @JomToons 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dunna Did It balance tungsten light to nearly white with slight yellow, daylight looks very blue and it has a nice effect! 😊

    Thanks for all the great tips in one place. Yeah, I am a big fan of using the various memory slots. One hack I have heard of (but haven't started using) are these little rubber "dots" with adhesive on the bottom. You stick them on to whichever buttons you like so it is a little easier to feel and press the buttons. I will have to track them down myself because I really want one for the video record button. Thanks again.

    • @dunnadidit
      @dunnadidit  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is a cool idea, I do feel like the buttons could be a bit more... tactile? ergonomic? I can't think of the word. But easier to find without looking haha. I've seen something like what you're talking about for the shutter button. But I could see it being really handy for the dumb record button like you said!

      So I think they are called button bumps. The person who makes them also makes a few other unusual, inexpensive accessories for Sony cameras. I guess there are others besides button bumps though too.

    Tip #2 about clear image zoom... I followed the steps you show and set cust button 3 to zoom but when I'm in video mode I'm unable to zoom in as mentioned. It still has that button for iso modification. Can you specify what steps are needed to use that zoom function in video? I use a 16mm sigma so I'd love to be able to use that! Thank you!

    • @dunnadidit
      @dunnadidit  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I only ever really use Clear Image Zoom for video. If you are shooting raw, you can get the same effect as CIZ by just cropping in in post.

    Hi Dunna! Great video, especially the PP hack with the silent shooting option ! I have a question about the S&Q : did you manage to save the S&Q in a Custom Menu 1 or 2 ? It seems that it saves all my setting except the S&Q > when I hit RECORD on my selected menu 1 or 2, it starts a regular video recording instead of S&Q :(

    • @dunnadidit

    • @dunnadidit
      @dunnadidit  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t know! I’ve been pondering this myself. I had an external monitor for a bit but I sold it because when you plug in a monitor, you lose the ability to use face tracking in 4K. So even though I can’t see myself when recording internally, I have confidence that the face tracking is working. But some of the features and functions of the ninja v are pretty awesome too.

    For the AF / MF button hold trick,
    I assign custom button to AF-on / back button focus, then disable AF function in shutter button.
    So, only one button press whenever i want to AF, after release, it stays MF.
