As a score guy, I'm hoping the John Williams Superman theme is used sparingly. As in as little as humanly possible during the actual film. I don't want it kicking in during the most Supermany moments, I want an original theme to kick in. Use it during the credits. Use it during the opening credits. Put hints of it throughout the film, but no much that it overshadows everything else. If they do a montage saving sequence, or sequence where people are discussing Superman as a public figure a la Batman v Superman and talking about what he's done or failed to do, use it there. Just don't let it be the theme for the David Corenswet Superman. Basically, if it's used at all, it should be how the theme from Star Trek: The Motion Picture (which overshadowed the theme from the original series) has become synonymous with Star Trek, but hasn't just been the theme for everything Star Trek going forward. It's used, it's referenced, it's hinted at, but other than Star Trek: The Next Generation, it's not the theme of any show. It is used in most of the other movies, but the Michael Giacchino scored Star Trek films didn't rely on it and instead had their own original theme (which is a banger).
I definitely agree there! Don't lean into the nostalgia too much and make it THE theme, but use the motif in quieter moments while he gets his own unique theme established in these big bombastic battles
@@Eron55555 I'm just gonna have to disagree hard there. See, I personally would prefer if it's not used at all. When I say I'm a score guy, I mean that I'm very picky, especially with character themes. In addition to the fact I think John Williams' Superman theme is extremely overused and overrated, it's also a theme that only works for that version of the character. It wouldn't make sense for Henry Cavill Superman (and didn't make sense in Josstice League, just like Danny Elfman's Batman theme didn't make sense with Batfleck), and it doesn't even work for me in the trailer. Especially when they already said they'd be creating a brand new theme. Now, it won't bother me as much as it did in Josstice League, because Hans Zimmer had already created a new theme that had been used for two separate movies. But it will still be disappointing that I won't have gotten to hear a new theme for Superman. I mean, if STAS, My Adventures With Superman, and Superman and Lois (among other Superman projects) had ALL used the John Williams theme, they just wouldn't be as fun as they are. And I will ALWAYS stand by that. Score is important to a film, but especially the themes for the characters. And if the themes feel like they're for the wrong characters, or for the wrong versions of the characters, then it drags the whole score down. Whether or not the theme does end up being used in the film is up to them. I just know that if it was up to me, it WOULDN'T be used. And that if I was in charge of Assassin's Creed, I'd stop letting Ezio's Family be remade in new styles or referenced in new AC themes, because it's not the AC theme, but Ezio's theme.
@@DarthTingleBinks I don't think it should be OVER used at all. Just once. One moment. Remember the beginning of Superman 2 when it was showing the events of Superman 1? How can you not like that score? Now, I'm impressed they are using it at all even in the trailer, and I have a feeling that is all we'll get or something very mildly similar. I can understand where u are coming from, but I think it deserves one moment.
I really hope this will be a fantastic movie, that said, I already know it will not be my favorite Superman film this and ALWAYS will be 1978's Superman: The Movie. I understand that the MAIN reason for that is a touch of nostalgia because Christopher Reeve IS THE Superman of my childhood, but another reason is that the story reflected the ideals that the character was founded on. In recent iterations there has been a darkness to him that dives into Batman's territory, NOT Superman's. Let Bruce/Batman brood, Clark/Superman is supposed to inspire.
The issue with people crying about lex company being luthercorp and not lexcorp you have to remeber that yes superhero's have been around but it's still very early in Superman's career. He and lex will only be meeting for the 1st time in this movie
Christopher Reeve best Superman ever Cavill way way too dark dropped a building on people hello Cavill terrible Clark Kent but that's Snyders fault Superman is hope light goodness lets go this looks really really good My Daughter and I Loved this I cried when I saw Krypto 57 yrs Superman fan
9:43 you do know the Snyder Daily Planet logo was a nod to the Donner film right? It also made sense that in a realistic world that it looked like that. They also had he globe inside the building which was also the same in the Donner film.
Grant Morrison said that superman stories are human stories but with a paul bunyan scale. If thats the case krypto is the babe the blue ox to supermans paul bunyan they are a package deal 😂😂
THIS is what I've been looking for!! You've said everything I've been feeling about this trailer. I have been on X and people are just fighting and the Snyder people are being so rude about the movie and ripping on it. I just want to enjoy this version of Superman. THIS is what I've always envisioned Superman to be. Like the old 70s movies I've been wanting a return to embracing what Superman is and what his original suit looked like. I love the suit! I love the colors and I went absolutely nuts when Krypto showed up! I LOVE IT!! I was instantly in love with the dog!! It's such a breath of fresh air to have someone staying true to Superman's mythos. I'm really hoping the script is good for this movie as that is what just didn't click with me in the Snyder movies. I never enjoyed the script and how people acted in those films. I love what feels like a movie that kids will hopefully love too and bring them in. I don't want to be a stodgy old adult only wanting superheroes to be dark and edgy.. make them hopeful and colorful again and embrace their past. Great review man! Loved it and LOVED the trailer!!!
Krypto was also in Smallville jfyi. Also, there's a possibility that the giant glowing ball of light toward the end of the trailer could be Solaris the sentient artificial star, who also appeared in All-Star Superman, which this movie is heavily inspired by.
Also. Costume Designer (for theatre, albeit) here. Your point about the lordtech suits is exactly what I’m thinking myself!! I feel like I should a breakdown post on the costumes in the trailer! Omg it’s all I looked at. 😊
Anyone ever wonder why Clark and Louis float when they kiss passionately? Think about it. Clark has to sometimes concentrate to keep his feet on earth. When they kiss, she makes him feel lighter than air.
I honestly didn’t know what to expect from this trailer but I can safely say this is everything I could have hoped for. The trailer gives us just enough to get us excited without giving away too much. James Gunn clearly understands Superman and what makes him great. I liked Henry Cavill and the Snyderverse but I understand why that portrayal didn’t sit well with everyone. The grounded and realistic Superman was worth a try but that time has come and gone. This is the Superman we need right now.
See, it doesn’t matter how powerful Superman is at the end of the day. He is just one man. He may be the Man of Steal, but he also has a heart, being one of the kindest, most humane beings in fiction there is. Despite all the terrible things that happen everyday (war, poverty, illness, assault) he tries, and always holds on to hope for what the world could be. Despite it all, he loves Earth, and he cherishes humanity with every fibre of his being. You wanna know what’s insanely compelling about Superman? I’ll tell you. To paraphrase Lois Lane, he is this alien; this being of immense, incomprehensible power and grandeur. He can move faster than a speeding bullet, leap over buildings in a single bound, and run faster than a locomotive. He could do or be anything and get away with it, and what does he decide to do with this power??? Help people… Superm- no- Clark Kent (Kal El) is the kind of person who saves a child and when they compliment his goofy costume with red trunks and a cape, he says “Thanks. My Mom made it for me.” Clark Kent is the kind of person who will save the life of his enemy before his own life. Clark Kent is the kind of person who will unabashedly admit that he likes pink and that it’s one of his favourite colours because he’s not afraid to be vulnerable in front of the people who matter to him (RIP Christopher Reeves). Clark the kind of person who will bear the incredibly human guilt of being a god, powerless to make the world perfect or safe for every single person everywhere. Clark is the kind of person who will stop everything he is doing, even when he is dying, just so he can stop a young girl on a roof from making the worst mistake in her life; and just be there for her when she desperately needs someone there for her. Superman is incredibly powerful and can fight off entire gods. Yes. However, he’s also the immigrant from the stars. He’s a farm boy raised in Smallvile Kansas by two compassionate, loving human beings. Clark didn’t understand himself for a long time, and felt he’d never belong. As a kid, he’s been bullied, had his heart broken, and gone through many of the same experiences we humans do every day. Life continued on and he went to prom, played sports, graduated from school, got a job, made friends, laughed at a joke over coffee, be madly in love with someone who he thinks is leagues above him, and mourned the loss of loved ones. What’s so touching about Superman isn’t how many planets he could theoretically destroy, it’s instead wondering how he can face a world with so many flaws, and keep fighting every day for a better world. Superman is the embodiment of humanity at its best. Superman IS HOPE, because hope can never be fully squashed, it can never truly die. I heard it once from a friend of mine. They said… “Everyone gets Superman ALL WRONG. It’s not the “super” part that’s interesting. It’s the “man” behind it all.” See you all in July.
The reason why I don't mind Superman having some inner turmoil is because we saw it in Kingdom Come (no coincidence they gave him that logo). He lets the newer, more aggressive heroes take the stage, which I'm pretty sure will be the opposite of what he does in the film. It doesn't work in stuff like BvS because he's literally just sad that a few political figures don't trust him - he's also the ONLY ACTIVE HERO in the damn world. With this new version, at least I know there's a Green Lantern down the street who is willing to step up lol
I bet he isn't even gonna fight the kaiju. The kaiju is gonna be innocent and superman tries to protect it and lure it back to space while the Terrifics are trying to kill it
Seeing everybody talk abt Krypto, and how we HAVE to protect him at all cost, when we know a Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow movie is in the works is just…IF YOU KNOW YOU KNOW BASICALLY.
Everybody seems to think that the character in the black suit with the "U" logo is Ultraman, but has that been confirmed anywhere? I really think it's going to be Ulysses instead.
How will superman handle all the homeless people in the world and hunger? Does he pass them by or ignore them notice it never show them in any superman movie. Homelessness are everywhere is superman only fight crimes to make a better world?
IS that fr Nathan Fillion?? bro he more looks like David Dastmalchian that played Polka dot man in Suicide squad.. never mind, as i was typing this I kinda see his face now, damn that bowl cut made him look like a different person god damn!
MoS was snyder’s version of “Atlas Shrugged” and JL was him directing another version of Watchmen. and Moore created Watchmen as an ANTI justice league. essentially, the guy NEVER UNDERSTOOD superman and the DC universe in general. snyder’s universe looked great, TBH. the costuming, the world building (krypton, metropolis next to gotham city), the cinematography, even the casting. i really think Jesse Eisenberg would have been a great Luthor with the PROPER script and director. but the guy can’t write a proper story or direct.
@@jamiekelly6851 ok I guess but superman and Lois being a married couple hasn't always been a constant thing while mister fantastic and the invisible woman were pretty much always a couple
8:34 imma have to disagree with you on this. Because one the misconception is that "without Lois Lane, Clark Kent/Superman would crumble." And while I do believe that she IS a very important person in his life. It IS (and should be) the morals that his parents raise him under that SHOULD be his north star. That's why the death of Johnathan Kent due to a heart attack is so important to Clark's story. He lost someone to something that he can't defend against. Kingdom Come Superman's Lois Lane dies but he does become evil. He retreats from a world and becomes a farmer on the old Kent Farm. Back to HIS human roots.
Yeah, about how Gunn is able to manage groups of heroes and makes them work: Guardians of the galaxy worked, because nobody knew those characters, so is a lot easier for the people to get invested in their individual stories and get to know everybody, that's why it worked so well but, in this movie we have freaking Superman, I'm sure that I will want the focus to be in his story, more than I could care about the other heroes, and I will want the focus on Lex Luthor more than the other villains. Personally, I consider the first guardians of the galaxy movie the best James Gunn's script today, but this movie needs a completely different approach. And I consider The Suicide Squat the laziest James Gunn's script today. That movie has so many characters that are there just to waste your time in a joke, moving the plot forward in a lazy way or that plain and simple, don't even matter, that I felt the passing of time during the entire movie. The forced protagonism and plot armor ticker than the Hulkbuster of Harley Queen was other thing that make me rolled my eyes the entire time, along with what I call: Gunnerisms. What is a Gunnerism?, Is the lazy emotional device that James Gunn uses to provoque an emotional reaction that often feels cheap and manipulative, for example: -The bumbling idiot: A character that's really dumb but also is childlike, and it makes you feel bad when somebody gets mad at because of their unaware stupidity, this was a recent incorporation to the Gunnerisms in the form of King Shark, and unfortunately, Adam Warlock. Who could be the archetype of this in the Superman movie? maybe Metamorpho. -Animal abuse: Violence and torture of cute animals with big bright eyes, that of course is going to make you sad but is developed in such an obvious way that you see it coming a mile away. Yeah Kripto, sorry buddy, at some point of the movie Ultraman is going to kick your fluffy little dogy ass so hard, that will let you in the brink of dead, buy you´ll survive because James is not as dumb as Snyder to kill you this early in the story. -The mascot: The most adorable member of the team that is there for selling plushies and make you go "AAAAWWWWWWW" all over it, Baby Groot anybody? Looking at you again Kripto, and maybe that Snyderbot that got destroyed in the trailer. I really hope that this is the James Gunn's movie with the less Gunnerisms in it, and that the movie doesn't feel bloated with so many characters, heroes and villains, that take too much the focus from the main character that happens to be freaking Superman, who for me, should be the entire focus of the movie, with Lex Luthor. P. D. Sorry for the essay instead of commentary.
Relax with the man of steel hate. Superman was getting beaten every movie in played in and died to doomsday. This whole indestructible narrative needs to stop
As a big Superman fan too this trailer made me tear up a bit.🥹❤️💙🦸♀️ Everything in this trailer just truly felt like a Superman movie that genuinely embraces that this is comic book world. Just seeing Krypto, that kid praying for Superman to help him, the beautiful bright colours and shots and this teaser's epic yet empowering theme gives me hope for DC and James Gunn's vision for the DCU. David Corenswet looks absolutely perfect in both Superman and Clark. I am especially excited for Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor since he looks very accurate to Lex from the comics, and you can see his burning hatred for Superman in his eyes. Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane also looks great, and she and David will surely have amazing chemistry together on screen. I also am hella excited for Guy Gardener's Green Lantern, Mr Terrific, Hawkgirl and Metamorpho's debut too, even if Guy Gardeners baldcut does look as dumb as it does in the 80's Justice League International comics. Thank you, James Gunn!
It's honestly the Jon Williams OST and Superman actively saving the kid in the trailer that's carrying right now. I do not like that there are more superheroes in this film. Where is the outcry that was there for Zack Snyder when he did the same thing? Also, Superman isn't all smiles in this trailer. Where's the outcry that he's moody and broody that Snyder got?
Let Bruce/Batman brood, Clark/Superman is supposed to inspire.

loved your excitement
David’s gonna be the best Superman/Clark Kent. I’m calling it now.
The issue with people crying about lex company being luthercorp and not lexcorp you have to remeber that yes superhero's have been around but it's still very early in Superman's career. He and lex will only be meeting for the 1st time in this movie
This trailer hit me hard
Sometimes I just need my own Krypto to take me to the shower upstairs when I have work in 30 minutes
I love the whole shebang
The Whole Shebang loves you
You always cook in these 🔥 🔥 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Omg wait, that's the Engineer on top of Luthorcorp!
Coming from a fan of the Snyder movies, I'm giving this movie a chance.
Grant Morrison said that superman stories are human stories but with a paul bunyan scale. If thats the case krypto is the babe the blue ox to supermans paul bunyan they are a package deal 😂😂
JAMES GUNN YOU ROCKED MY WORLDDDD
@@crispity You’re sick. Get some help soon!
Man I really need to watch Smallville already
OMG! Okay so I love the little note before commenting. Thanks!
Also, I ADORED the Krypto show omg and now he looks JUST like my dog. I’m SO excited
Also. Costume Designer (for theatre, albeit) here. Your point about the lordtech suits is exactly what I’m thinking myself!! I feel like I should a breakdown post on the costumes in the trailer! Omg it’s all I looked at. 😊
Do it do it so it, it’d be very cool to hear from your perspective!
0:00 he did the meme
Not one smile! What is this? Man of Steel?
😏
Anyone ever wonder why Clark and Louis float when they kiss passionately? Think about it. Clark has to sometimes concentrate to keep his feet on earth. When they kiss, she makes him feel lighter than air.
This is the my new favorite thing ever
The person on top of the Luthorcorp sign is actually, probably, the Engeneer
Can not believe you think blue + orange is unique. It's the most overused colour grading in cinema/TV. And it's not blue, it's teal.
I could’ve worded it better but I mostly meant that it stands out among the comic book movie genre which is often filled with a lot of greys
First time I watched David Corenswet was in the Hollywood Netflix show and immediately knew he'd be a great Superman
The real Superman ❤
Help people…
Superm- no- Clark Kent (Kal El) is the kind of person who saves a child and when they compliment his goofy costume with red trunks and a cape, he says “Thanks. My Mom made it for me.”
Clark Kent is the kind of person who will save the life of his enemy before his own life.
They said…
“Everyone gets Superman ALL WRONG. It’s not the “super” part that’s interesting. It’s the “man” behind it all.”
See you all in July.
The trailer reminds me of the 90s animated series.
The kaiju is gonna be innocent and superman tries to protect it and lure it back to space while the Terrifics are trying to kill it
Harry Dunne is in the movie.
I'm interested to see a comic book Superman
15:10 I think that’s the Engineer
Seeing everybody talk abt Krypto, and how we HAVE to protect him at all cost, when we know a Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow movie is in the works is just…IF YOU KNOW YOU KNOW BASICALLY.
how to download the pc version of DESKTOP wallpaper ?
Ditto on everything about Krypto....my fav part of trailer.
30:09 Hm, interesting commentary about the sun. You could call it a 1 star review.
Because the little girl doesn't seem to know what's going on around her in general, I'm thinking we're going to find out she's deaf.
Wait that would be such a cool idea
Everybody seems to think that the character in the black suit with the "U" logo is Ultraman, but has that been confirmed anywhere? I really think it's going to be Ulysses instead.
Without spoiling too much, it was pretty much confirmed by a toy leak
You’re not sacrificing me bro 👨🏻💻
People are so used to Dark Knight version of Superman (MOS)
How will superman handle all the homeless people in the world and hunger? Does he pass them by or ignore them notice it never show them in any superman movie. Homelessness are everywhere is superman only fight crimes to make a better world?
Supes vs a kaiju gives the 1940s animation vibes.
15:10 That's actually the Engineer
Subbed
I love it all only one thing i wished Superman was more buffed
I encourage you to look up David's workout pics, that man is built like a fridge
I don't think that opponent to Superman, is Ultraman...but a character known as ULYSSES...aka Neil Quinn...
IS that fr Nathan Fillion?? bro he more looks like David Dastmalchian that played Polka dot man in Suicide squad.. never mind, as i was typing this I kinda see his face now, damn that bowl cut made him look like a different person god damn!
The power of a silly wig!
So why haven't you done Nimona yet. It was nominated for an Oscar.
13 years? Wasn’t 2013 like 11 years ago?
I'm gonna be honest I don't know how I got that wrong and I'm shocked you're the first to call me on it
Could that giant orb be Solaris???
I think it's likely honestly!
SUPERMAN IS KISSING A MAN IN THIS MOVIE SOOO GOOO AWAY
MoS was snyder’s version of “Atlas Shrugged” and JL was him directing another version of Watchmen. and Moore created Watchmen as an ANTI justice league.
essentially, the guy NEVER UNDERSTOOD superman and the DC universe in general.
snyder’s universe looked great, TBH. the costuming, the world building (krypton, metropolis next to gotham city), the cinematography, even the casting. i really think Jesse Eisenberg would have been a great Luthor with the PROPER script and director.
but the guy can’t write a proper story or direct.
The flashes cgi was bad but the cinematography was good. I thought it was a good movie and had a good concept.
Cavil will always be Superman to me but gunn did direct GOTG so…..I’m def here for it
The tom holand of superman
21:51 what about reed ricards and sue storm they're the only relationship in comics where they have been consistently married
I would put Reed and Sue at a STRONG number two!
@WholeShebangYT honestly they're number one
@omoefeasiemo3601 I'd say cultural relevance probably would put them at two but fair enough.
@@jamiekelly6851 ok I guess but superman and Lois being a married couple hasn't always been a constant thing while mister fantastic and the invisible woman were pretty much always a couple
@@omoefeasiemo3601namor says hi lol
Yeah, about how Gunn is able to manage groups of heroes and makes them work:
Guardians of the galaxy worked, because nobody knew those characters, so is a lot easier for the people to get invested in their individual stories and get to know everybody, that's why it worked so well but, in this movie we have freaking Superman, I'm sure that I will want the focus to be in his story, more than I could care about the other heroes, and I will want the focus on Lex Luthor more than the other villains.
What is a Gunnerism?, Is the lazy emotional device that James Gunn uses to provoque an emotional reaction that often feels cheap and manipulative, for example:
-The bumbling idiot: A character that's really dumb but also is childlike, and it makes you feel bad when somebody gets mad at because of their unaware stupidity, this was a recent incorporation to the Gunnerisms in the form of King Shark, and unfortunately, Adam Warlock.
I love Superman and love that theme, I know the movie is going to be good but my only concern is that Gunn put too much comedy in the movie
Relax with the man of steel hate. Superman was getting beaten every movie in played in and died to doomsday. This whole indestructible narrative needs to stop
As a big Superman fan too this trailer made me tear up a bit.🥹❤️💙🦸♀️
Everything in this trailer just truly felt like a Superman movie that genuinely embraces that this is comic book world.
The hypocrisy is hilarious. Altogether, the trailer was decent! I liked the colour palette that the film is going for
Kirby exist and he solos
He dies before martha kent
If kripto dies everone will that is my promise
Why is louise lane making weird faces walking around with a coffee mug ?

Be serious, 30 min video on a trailer...
It's called passion
This is just my idea. They should use Krypto for the marketing. Like Krypto & Superman going for a walk for a marketing thing would be funny and also Soo adorable!!
This new superman logo and suit is only good for New52 Superman, nothing more..
We got Sailor Moon Superman before GTA 6 😂
What's wrong with Sailor Moon?
Never liked Guardians of the Galaxy, tried watching the first one, fell asleep 3 times....dough Suicide Squad was great...perhaps it's due to me not having any interest in cringy Marvel characters beside SpiderMan....Superman, I donlike the trailer, it looks like CW tv show....I like having a lot of characters....so I'm not hyped one bit but I'll give it a shot...I just don't see it being special even though Superman is my favorite character....
Three seconds into this video and it’s a thumbs down, quit and can’t watch this garbage no more. Absolutely annoying screeching voices of kids is just too freaking much..
A crazy thing in this generation is a man and a woman kissing in a movie wow we are back 😅
Compare with the MAN OF STEEL trailer then wake up from your delusional sleep. This looks like it belongs in the dollar store!
This teaser is terrible! This is going to be the worst Superman movie ever!
