  • The Rhino 2 Big Battery is great for use as an off grid power system in my shop. This install has a 15kwh lifepo4 self heating battery with 6000w pure sine wave inverter. A small shop like the one I have can run from this system with ease. 2000w of solar power feeds this system so that it can stay off grid.

The inverter only needs one of the battery cables each. Even that is over kill. Since those cables are 2/0 and you really only need around 1awg cable. So you could install some lugs on there and remove 2 of those. Love these 6kw units. They are solid

Your power projects have been ambitious and impressive. It's amazing how much they are gifting you in gear for all this.

Thank you. Yes. It's surprising how fast companies will send power equipment when you start making videos.

Did you have proper isolation with the positive and negative leads going through the metal box of the inverter.

You make a good point. I will separate the battery cables so that they go into separate holes in the inverter.

I was glad to see that you put all the cables in connectors going into the inverter, bare cables going into metal cases worry me !
These batteries come with two cables for both positive and negative for the larger inverters like the 18k, you only need one for the 6000. No worries until you want to add an additional battery, and then the angle of the connectors on the battery will be a problem for the parallel connection cables.
Just FYI, that big battery is exactly like the EG4 brand that is sold by Signature Solar and Current Connected.
One more note is that the battery is a 14.3kw, not a 15kw.

Are you switching the neutral and ground? Should you be?

no groments for the battery up into your wire box for the positive and negative? Seems sketchy having those feed up through those cut outs long term if they shift and rub against the metal of the box to potentially cut them long term. With that said though, nice setup overall.

I would have opened the other hole for the negative. Putting both in the one conduit seems shady.. yea these systems are getting pretty darn good.

That is a valid point. Opening up the other battery cable hole is a good idea. This system has been running over a month with zero problems. I have not dropped the battery below 85% full.

What is the max voltage per 1 mppt? Is it 385v or 480v per 1 mppt or is it half between the 2 mppt???

On the 6000xp, each pv input is 460v. I used ten of the 400w/37v panels on each input on my inverter.

I thought EG4 made this battery? Is it really made by lux power and EG4 and BigBattery rebrand it?

    • @LandtoHouse
      @LandtoHouse  หลายเดือนก่อน

The inverter is a lux power. Eg4 rebrands it and ads some breakers.
The battery is the same. Bigbattery and eg4 both have a model.
