    That’s a great system from the looks of it , I’m working on the same thing getting off grid I’m done with 4 and $500 electric bills that’s unreliable I’m running 4 Tesla batteries right now and I don’t feel it’s safe enough hopefully upgrading by summer

    Joe, after all the battery and inverter reviews, what do you prefer? I'm grid-tied w/net billing. I have 12.3Kwh solar, true 9.75Kwh ac coupled system. Looking for hybrid 12k inverter and battery or an all in one system. I would like to keep my initial invest cost as low as possible without shutting myself in the foot. I'm having paralysis from over analysis.

    That’s a pretty sweet setup! Lux looks like a great inverter. Would be a fun system to test out! Having everything inside the wiring area (behind latches and not tiny screws) just looks like a very nice clean way to run all your cabling. It really simplifies installation as well. I mean just look at everything you had on your wall before, and now you have 2 things on your wall…
    I hadn’t heard of the Ethos system before though. Kinda interesting that they run connections from the combiner all the way down to the bottom battery as well. Must be some way to equalize current draw across all the batteries. You mentioned that their IP 65 rated. Do they have internal heaters as well? Just wondering how they would do outside in the MI winters…
    Looking forward to the next videos to see how it all performs. Thanks!

    • @AveRage_Joe
      @AveRage_Joe  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It is a pretty sweet setup and super easy to install! lol yeah all the stuff I had before. Some of it was for future expansion but yes, this simplifies it quite a bit!
      Yeah the cables from lower battery to controller would be similar to how we connect our diy batteries to keep an even load across them. Yep IP65, dont think they have heaters or I dont remember seeing anything. Could be in the future tho? Yeah we get COLD AF here to so I wouldnt install them outside. Maybe in my garage but not outside.

    Never connect panel ground close to the inverter or in your case inside the inverter unless there are compliance requirements. One small lightening strike and your inverter, BMS are gone.
    Run the panel earth to a seperate ground rod or if you have an ground rod in your house, connect to it at the earth level.

    • @AveRage_Joe
      @AveRage_Joe  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So I should run a ground wire from the frame of the panels straight to the ground rod. Wouldnt it be the "same" since all grounds go to that rod. Also that ground bar is there for the solar ground. Either way I know you want all metal grounded to a single point.

    • @ruchira1991
      @ruchira1991 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AveRage_Joe Yes ground wire from frame straight to the ground rod at earth level. And no its not the same because as we know lightening follows the path of least resistance to ground so if you run an wire to the rod, it wont likely travel back to the inverter. Trust me I had to replace my inverter because of a lightening strike before I knew this

      It is working out really good and is working a lot better then my growatt so far. Solar intake is a HUGE improvement as well! No quirks as of yet. A cool thing about this inverter since I already have a sub panel. This will backfeed my main panel to power the stove, AC amd dryer which I couldnt really do before. Thats another plus. I will say tho if your not doing anything grid tie and maybe you dont have sub panels like I do. Getting the 6kw is cheaper for 2. I am extreamly happy with it so far.

    Great video as always! Interested to learn more about the time of use function. Our use case is that we have a solar system setup as net zero export. Downside is it throws away excess solar when the homes loads are lower than what the solar is capable of at that time as the system throttles the solar output to match the load. Time of use would allow charging the batteries during the day and discharging them at night. Time of use Questions are 1) can you set the time of day the batteries would charge? 2) can you set the charge power to never draw from the grid to do this charging (monitored via the ct main feed data) 3) can you set discharge time and power? 4) can you set discharge power to never send power to the grid (monitored via the ct feed data)? We would be using this in ac coupled charging (no connection of this inverter to dc panels, this is handled by our existing setup). Thanks for consideration to answering these questions

The output feeds my sub panel which shouldnt go near 12kw. The backfeed wires/input wires are on the main panel which power the stove, AC and Dryer. Please test the grid tie zero export capabilities. Using CTs on the homes mains.. most people rarely have power outages.. most are simply concerned with lowering the electric bill.. so most of the time offgrid features should not be used until needed.. this inverter can power the homes main panel. No need for a critical load panel. When the grid isn’t available (which rarely ever happens) the inverters AC grid input breaker would be turned off. Also shut off grid supply to the main panel and then run the main panel from the inverters AC output…

      I have been running it with the Zero Export enabled and it works great. Since I had a system before and already had it connected to a sub panel thats how I wired this system but you are correct, no need for a sub panel with this inverter.

    Hey brother, can you explain what gauge wire you used from your inverter to your load panel? I am planning on using only 120v and run it to my load panel(all of this is off grid). What gauge do I need? Or how would you explain it for a better understanding?

      I used stranded 6awg THHN to and from. I could possibly go down to 4awg since the panel is kinda far but I allready had it from my 12kw growatt that I took down. I havent had any issues running anything. Why not run 240v to your panel?

    About time you got the best inverter/charger. You need more battery. This inverter is recommended to use 28 kilowatts. I have 28 kilowatts and it is very happy. We are completely off-grid with ours. I am using 32 EVE LF280K cells and two JK-BMS with 2 amp active balancing. the LuxPower has two separate battery inputs. you can connect your DIY batteries to one of the inputs.

      Chinese made, high frequency inverters use the cheapest inverter tech on the market. Why do you think no American inverter manufacturer on the market use this inferior inveter tech?
      American made inverter chargers are all low frequency, transformer based designs.

      Interesting, this high freq inverter can surge up to 14,000 watts for 10 minutes with 8,000 watts over 6,000 watts of imbalance on one leg. And the self consumption is only 70 watts. Low freq are generally high self consumption. And LuxPower is not a recent start-up but a proven platform used all over the world for years. You really need to do some research before you make a comment. I am not a Chinese fan boy but when a company makes a good product you just respect it. Sol-Ark is Chinese also.

      And so what? It's hard to comprehend comments like this on youtube videos. You get videos for free here. How do you think these youtubers get little money from their videos? There's no harm in showing things like this advertisement or not. Not everyone is out for a Lifepo4 cell build, with balancing and BMS struggles. Some people want plug and play, and that's okay. People like you have a.d bl.oc.kers turned on and expect youtubers to teach you everything for free while making nothing out of it. Do better!
