Ian, I've seen several other videos that show the MRG install and tips..Especially leavbe the ball CLOSED and put on the new seal.. That keeps it from being dropped into the black tank.

Hey Bill, Ian here. I found it tough to manipulate the seal with the ball closed, but I could absolutely see that being beneficial! Thanks for the tip!

I have a lot of calcium build-up. I soak the rubber seal in vinegar. The biggest problem is getting the calcium carbonate off the ball and the underside of the bowl where the seal normally sits.
Do you have any suggestions for that? Vinegar will not 'stick' down there and it takes at the very least an hour to do its job of dissolving the calcium build-up.

Hey Thomas, Thanks for the question! One of my good friends in service said that you can try CLR to help remove that BUT...and this is a big BUT...would absolutely have you talk with a tech first, if you can bring the unit in even better. I hope that helps! - Chris Young

@@campingworld I found a way. I soaked an old rag in vinegar and squeezed it between the ball and the top. I left that for a few hours and repeated it several times. Afterwards I was able to easliy rub of chunks of calcium buildup.

Are there more seals other than domestic and how do you know which one your toilet needs, thank you

There are. It honestly depends on the brand and model of toilet you have. Dometic and Thetford are the two most common brands out there, but others do exist. You can check out this Thetford video to see if this is closer to your RV toilet! th-cam.com/video/VeDjn0_Rg28/w-d-xo.html

Great video. I always wondered if the seal could be replaced. I've been limping along with my original seal by just cleaning the seal and ball as best I can and then putting vaseline on the under side of the seal. This usually gets it working for another several months. Another video shows applying some silicone grease directly to the bottom side of the new seal before putting it in place. It seems like a good idea. When I change mine, I think I'll do that as well.

Vaseline and other petroleum-based lubricants are said to deteriorate the seal faster.

We have a Sealand (Dometic) 510+ ceramic toilet. Even though I have to remove my toilet bowl to replace the seals, I’ll take that over that seal replacement. If that got dropped down into the black tank - NO, Thanks! Bad design in my estimation. Great video though!
Thanks for wear gloves! I’m sure that was a NEW toilet!😁 Also agree with @garydietz8807!🤢🤢

Gotta love how he says to wear gloves and then touches everything with his dirty gloves, same thing happens in a restaurant, I always see people wearing gloves while touching their face or things around the kitchen that has already been touched by unclean hands

Hey Gary, Ian Baker here. Valid point, lol. I guess it's the classic "Do as I say, not as I do", haha.
