Kane is 24th in NHL history in shots on goal, 3rd among active players. He led the Rangers in shots on goal in the playoffs vs NJ by a good margin.
Kaner looked good after his surgery. I don't mind him coming back, but it's would have to be for super cheap.

He looked great after his surgery and would have been the Rangers 2nd best forward. He will not be super cheap, he will get paid a fair contract wherever.
I could see Kane with Bread and Trocheck and moving Laf up to play with Mika and Kreider. People keep talking about splitting up Mika and Kreider but that would require moving one of them to the third line….which makes no sense. I’m looking forward to see Cuylle next season…. he’ll most likely add some more weight during the off season and could push for a top six role if the Rangers fail to sign a right winger…… right now he’s penciled in as 3lw but with Laf’s success moving to RW anything is possible.
When Kane had the surgery, I said no way to resigning him. Which I still feel was smart to do. Like you said, most players end up not getting any better or retiring. Kane did well with Detroit and the surgery worked. So now that he's proven to recover, If he's that hungary for a cup and it's affordable, I would sign him. Rest him through the season so he ramps up for the playofffs. We still need another big size winger/agitator and a solid, big strong defenseman to clear the crease and settle things down...and a big blueline shot doesnt hurt either.
Bad move ! We need to get younger and bigger not older and smaller! He is past his prime , great player but too risky! LGR!!!

Kane's 5v5 goals per 60 last year would have been 2nd on NY behind only Panarin, and way ahead of everyone else on the team. He had 20 goals in 50 games, 2 were on the power play.
Rangers need to spend on younger players. Pat Kane is too old. Not worth it any more . Why do we always go back to over the hill players

@@shotamakarashvili3714i get panarin didn’t score goals as much in the ECF but he had 4 game winning goals first two rounds and his line was solid in the playoffs trocheck and Laf did great
I'm not saying Kane wouldn't bring anything to the team but I believe there are better options in terms of play off style of hockey. Florida series showed obvious thing- Rangers need tougher guys that can physically check and fight to be competitive at highest level. Kane wouldn't contribute to that innmy opinion.
We need a true top shelf elite center on line 1. It would have to be a team friendly contract. But line 1 was virtually dead in playoffs. We also need Marchessault on wing. We need more guys up front who are willing to get nasty . Trade mika, Chytil, and Kakko.
It would not be a team friendly contract, bc he is not friends w your team and owes you nothing.
IDK about this he is kind of old.be he can get injured I mean if he is healthy and can be the Kane of the old.but how much $ does he want that's the question???
these comments are why the Rangers fanbase is generally considered the worst and least intelligent in the league. Kane last year was great, and had 1.2 5v5 goals per 60. this would have been 2nd on NY to only Panarin, and way ahead of everyone else. Rangers fans saying he's washed, old, terrible, "would take him for the minimum only", "only could play on the power play" are just embarrassing themselves. Unlike the Rangers Kane is not a power play specialist. he is a real hockey player.
Love Patrick Kane but this is a horrible idea, go back and get some more spaghetti to throw against the wall.

The Panthers showed that the Rangers are too soft and need more grit. With Kane, the Rangers wouldn't have fared any better against the Panthers. He's not the missing piece!

I totally agree. But I have been a very long time Ranger fan, since the mid 60’s. This mindset they are stuck in, personally I think it’s Dolan, isn’t going to end anytime soon. Bottom six definitely needs size, grit and physicality which comes from the latter. Forget it. That ain’t these Rangers. They need to change this teams culture. Start with scouts, then players. Unfortunately for us, it ain’t happening

Dumping assets to aquire him injured was stupid, acquiring him again when you know we need more physicality, sounds like Drury needs to go immediately! Don't do it Drury!
Kane was great last year and is one of the great playoff performers of all time. He was NY's best player in the playoffs on one leg.
This is so typical, and exactly why i hate and regret being a rangers fan. The only people dumber than a typical rangers fan are unfortunately in the rangers front office. What has everyone been saying the rangers need to improve on? The forecheck, getting to the slot/net more, increasing team speed and toughness, finding a defenseman that can move the puck competently. Exactly which box here does Kane check?
So they are going to spend the little money they have to not fix any of their issues and expect to magically get better, gotcha. Adding another slow footed pass happy perimeter playing turnover machine that doesnt want to play hard isnt going to help this team win when the refs put the whistles away again. And Kane requires power play time by the way, so who are we kicking off the power play? You know they wont do that to mika, panarin or fox, so that leaves kreider and most likely trocheck, the two guys that get to the slot and net... And i guess so much for giving Laffy a chance at PP1.
I cant wait until next year's post mortem when everyone is stunned that the same old routine failed to work again and spend approximately 1 week saying how we need to get bigger, stonger, and faster only to then recommend we fix our problems by coaxing Gretzky out of retirement. It would be great if anyone would put a little thought into building a cohesive team with players that actually complement eachother, instead of just compiling players with stats that will look nice on a spreadsheet. This is exactly why they never win. And most of you guys cheer on the stupidity until it blows up in your faces and then you pretend like you never supported the decision. Its sickening.
Kane is soft plus; injure prone..... An over passer......
Kane is one of the most durable players in the NHL for almost 20 years now. And is 24th in league history in shots on goal. He led NY in shots on goal in the playoff round by a lot.

Patrick Kane? Please tell me it ain't so, Drury is a sucker for this Kane guy, one player is not going to win the Cup, there is MARCHESSAULT, TOFFOLI, TERÄVÄINEN that can be better choices. If i am going to be excited to watch Rangers games surprise me with a better selection.
Kane is much better than any of those 3 players, and greatly outproduced them even through his injury.
