can you imagine if KD was able to make that draft day trade and picked up both Levshunov and Demidov??
@@Darrakkii he should have drafted Demidov, then try and traded up to get Luvshenov. Even if they traded up and Luvshenov didn't fall to them, they may have had a chance at Silyev, Dickerson, or Biium.
right but his effort/offer was pathetic, he is NOT a competent GM nor a leader.... don't confuse using buzz words when addressing the media with competence. This season is a do or die for KD, last years team was one of the worst teams ever assembled yes injuries happen but a competent GM has contingencies, the team was pathetic... if Bedard gets frustrated with his teams play and starts acting like a child, KD is probably gone. He has one job this year; Bedard skill set makes league highlights every other night and you need complementary talent and am afraid KD laid an egg in FA
@@celestialdesign9611 just gotta be patient man, I don’t think Davidson is doing a bad job. Yeah we had a garbage team last year and the year before but that’s normal during a rebuild. Like Shannon said, if they’re still bad in 2025-2026 that’s when I’d fire him, but I really don’t see that happening. Too much young talent to be bad for forever
@@anthonytony8328Yes I 100% agree you with. Anaheim, Columbus and Montreal were all deadset on Sennecke, Lindstrom and Demidov, KD should've drafted Demidov and traded for Montreals pick. And if that ended up not working go for Buium who fell to 12th, he may be left handed but he plays his off side on RD.
@@celestialdesign9611who were you expecting in FA?
Excellent break down of Chicago ... You know more about them then most of our local writers and really understand what KDs plan is. The prospects are solid and our GM is sticking to his plan - he says it ... Then follows thru.
Follows through and skips a gem in demidov
@@kyledelcotto4550 hawks needed a D Man. They were gonna take a D before someone on the offense. They tried to snag both but as the powers be, is what it js
Most Blackhawks fans really like Kurashev. He one of the few players that has been on the team the last few years that we still see as being on the team when the Hawks are contenders in several years.
He’s more skilled than he gets credit for but I don’t think he’s a top 6 NHLer. Can see him getting bounced for a bigger / more defensive winger down the road
he's the perfect piece to fit anywhere in the lineup during the rebuild, and slot into an offensive bottom 6 role when it truly matters
Kurashev has come a long way and gotten better each season. I like him a lot.
Kurashev will be a fine third-liner slotted correctly. He is not a first-liner, for sure.
It's amazing how well you know this team even while we suck so bad rn. Even the respect given to Vlasic and Guttman. Major respect, ESPN needs this kind of knowledge for the game and the players
Really like the vet additions to help mentor the youds. Too many youds were handed NHL spots last season. Exciting to watch the rebuild!!
Sensible Blackhawk insiders are saying 70-75 points. Most have Slaggert in Rockford, some even think Korchinski will spend time in Rockford since he couldn't go there last year. They are about 50-50 on Nazar starting in Chicago or Rockford. All have Jones-Vlasic as the top pair on D to start. The one-year deal guys will probably be dealt at the deadline to contenders; opening up room for the kids that started the season in Rockford.
We must listen to the same insiders. I think some time in Rockford would help Korchinski. Last season he looked over his head in much of the sense. Albeit, the kid was set up to fail when Murphy got hurt and he was stuck with Megna or Tinordi. The time Wyat Kaiser spent in Rockford last year looked like it benefited him. He looked like a different player when he came back to Chicago.
Korchinski and Nazar will be in Rockford probably most of the season
70 pts is realistic and should be the objective.
I'm sorry but 20-25 more points is a massive jump, they may have filled out their roster but they are not THAT competitive of a team
@@Darrakkii they were a depleted team last year racked full of injuries actually most games they put out a glorified AHL team. If they were full strength they should have had at least ten points better so 70-75 on paper is a massive jump but in all respects it’s not.
Mrazek was amazing last season. Soderbloom was god awful.
hawks will be very watchable this year, while still finishing low enough to garner a high pick, and while rockford should be a force in the ahl, especially if levshunov signs. cannot wait for 24-25.
Love it! I'm a huge Hawks fan and actually looking forward to the season. Go Hawks!
I hope Taylor Hall comes back on all cylinders. Another player I love to watch no matter where he plays. Faligino too
I hope Reichel and Mikheyev have bounce back seasons, too.
Reichel,I hope so,but don’t bet on it!
Really looking forward to having another Slovakian goalie in the league at some point - just as a quick pronunciation tip Gajan's name should be pronounced with a Y sound rather than the Spanish J - so Gah-Yan rather than Gah-han. Thanks for the great content as always!
I Love the moves. Teravainen was a top 6 forward on a playoff team. Bertuzzi is top 6/9 player, who will go to those dirty areas to win board battles and get into the goalies face. Veteran help on the back end. A good back uo goalie who may challenge for a full time goalie spot. Now if Mikheyev can have a bounce back year and get back to his 14% shooting %, that trade could be a steal. Add in the prospects and the Blackhawks future looks bright.
These moves are awful bro. The Sens, Jackets and Ducks gave out bigger contracts that are harder to trade and it has been foolish. The Sharks just did it with Toffoli and Wennberg.
Trying to win too soon hurts teams in multiple ways.
@@DanRaidersWarriorsSharksGiants
These aren’t “trying to win too soon” moves. They’re just acquiring actual NHL talent. The roster was abysmal and injury prone last year, idk how exactly some of you expect them to get better without spending a bit in FA.
@@rc5564 That is what the draft is for and trading for prospects and draft picks. Plus all the top AHL talent.
Winning meaningless games hurts many bad teams constantly.
@@DanRaidersWarriorsSharksGiants
Can’t have Bedard with only AA, Hall, and Kurashev to help
@@joey2614 The hawks would have been better off to trade Bedard the moment they won the draft lottery. Some teams would have offered a kings ransom for him without even seeing him play 1 NHL game. If the hawks never win a cup with him remember I said that.
Almost every team has 1 to 5 really good players but if the rest of the team is bad they never matter.
Giving out bad contracts to help the teams best prospects is what the Senators, Jackets and Sabres have done and it completely failed and hurt them all that they did it. The Sharks just did it too with Tofolli and Wennberg.
With proper drafting and scouting of cheaper vets a team can make the playoffs and win 1 round before they start paying out big contracts trying to win.
Kurashev is a a great player but on a great team would be a 3rd line wing. He would be a Versteeg esque player on a good club.
Will love to watch the Sharks, Ducks and Blackhawks this next season. We've got a great season coming up. Very excited
All those of those teams will be at the bottom of the basement fighting for the lottery again
Great season…? 🙄
It will be interesting to watch certain projects develop and improve, but that’s it. All of those teams, like Columbus and Mobtreal, have a ways to go before reaching respectable competitiveness.
@@Mitch-ui8ps Nah, they will be much better

Matoon and Martinez are set up for deadline flips.
time will tell to see how well all these new players mesh together. GO HAWKS
Blackhawks- Blues is going to be a great rivalry again, for years to come, as they both load up with young talent and aren't far apart at all with their current groups. Upcoming Winter Classic should be a great way to kick off the next ten + years between these clubs.
If Bert bedard and teuvo is all on the same line I can see each of them getting 60+ points
Great video thank you! -hawks fan
Quite excited to check out this upgraded team live
Man, it definitely felt like more than a decade in Chicago ha.
Let’s GO Hawks!! The Hockey Guy rules 🤘
no he doesn't
Seth Jones, what a bummer, that contract will hurt them along the way, nice guy, junk contract!!!
@@tomfilipiak3511 eh.. not so bad tons of contracts coming off the books were good.
I trip out every time Shannon says “Kyle Davidson”
Nice hawks gear
7 years. Without the Covid season it’s 7 years without the yoffs and even then we got fucked by the blues in 16 and preds in 17 so the last time Chicago actually played competitive playoff hockey was 15.
Marek Vanacker was also a 1st round pick #27 overall
I know, but I only highlighted the top 2 picks in each draft.
Vanacker Isn’t Levshunov or Boisvert. Both of them are significant atm
Mentioned him @ 7:33
@Creatorfragments Don't discount Vanecker. He plays, as they say, a 200 foot game. Plays in all situations. Was second in the OHL in SHG. When Nick Lardis got hurt, Vanecker was moved up into his spot and put up a ton of points.
@@anthonytony8328 He can shoot the Puck that’s for sure.
I think the Blackhawks will fight for a playoff spot but at the last 2 months sputter down the end.
This is for sure an improvement from last year!!
It got brutal to watch when Bedard was injured...
That 2017 Predators series still haunts me
I am super excited to see how Nazar does this year
Hawks fan here,
I think Reichel will find his step this year, kurashev will get better defensively, I do expect Nazar to crack this line up, I also look at a guy like Gavin Hayes at getting a possibility of some NHL minutes.
D wise I think this team although isn’t huge names, is stacked to the point former high draft picks like Del Mastro, Nolan Allen won’t even get a sniff, not in the future with Levshunov and Rinzel coming up and they will have to trade them.
I love Teuvo coming back, I would have loved to get another former hawk/leaf back in Domi but Bertuzzi can hopefully find another gear with a guy like Bedard.
I am thoroughly pleased with the direction of this team I think it’s time to now get out of the rebuild and build that winning culture back.
I expect the hawks to be battling for a playoff spot in 2025/2026, and to be battling for a cup in 2027 ish area
Great video. Go hawks
The Blackhawks should have a 25 to 27 point increase
LOL
@@Lebowski55don't laugh, that's absolutely doable. But you have to realize that a 25;point increase still puts them drafting 5-7.
They were so bad last year. Not a tank like the year before but injuries killed them
@@kevinbrisolara4848 If they only go up by 10 points, something went very wrong. It possible, but unlikely. I would put the over under at 72 points.
@@rfjohnson69 The no forwards was such pain to watch i had to stop a quarter though the year.
I think 10 more wins is doable.
So,for your information, love Bedard, but he is not a very big guy, though he has growing to do,I am suspect of his overall speed?
Last season, the Hawks were unwatchable especially when Bedard got injured. Yet being a loyal fan I suffered through the games. I can only hope for a minor improvement because I don’t think I can do that again.
I expect Chicago to not be picking in the top 5 next NHL draft. I doubt they're a playoff team as of now, but we can all plainly see how they're mixing veterans with youth and allowing the best of the best to make their mark so they can be the next man up.
Your excellent coverage! 🎁🥅🏒🖼️🌟🌟🌟
They way i see it the Hawks go as the kids go. If everything goes perfect ( it never does) they fight for the playoffs( about 92 points). Realistically if the kids take a step forward, the hawks fight for about 82 points in the season. IF the kids stay at the level they were at last year probably 70 points. Of note the Hawks had 52 last year and 59 the year before. My optimistic guess is 78-84 points this season. While 20 points better this still puts them 3rd form last in the Central Division.
Brossoit gonna make a name for himself as a starter
Pump the brakes. He played fewer games on a better team last year. Backing up the Vezina winner. Hes a good backup, and there is no shame in that. The hawks were absolute ass last year, with hopes that this year they are slightly better. This is a far cry from being an environment where LB becomes a starter. Prove me wrong im up for it but caution is needed.
Mrazek seems to have that locked down unless he falls off next season.
Blackhawks games are fun
Maroone will be on the 4th line
This is a playoff team. Mark my words.
A few more players coming to Chicago who aren't just on one year deals, likely dumped at the deadline for picks.
If the goaltending can be stellar, Hawks could be a dark horse playoff team. Very unlikely, but I wouldn’t necessarily be shocked
@@SMG2fanatic As a hawks fan it’s kind of what I’m scared of. Did Kyle make this team too good too fast?
@@TeebTimboe Hawks have one of the best pipelines in the league. Even if they have a season like the Flyers did this year, I wouldn’t worry too much. I’d just enjoy the ride. But like Kevin said this team will probably be bad again anyway.
anything can happen, but i don't think theyre in playoff mix next season. be lucky if they go .500
I expect them to be in the mix for a wildcard spot but thats at best lol
If they stay healthy I don't see why they couldn't get to around 80 to 85 points
The Hawks blew it by not bringing back Adam Boqvist !! He’s only 23 .. HUGE mistake !! Florida has a smart GM !!!
They’re not going to be good for a few more years, but it makes sense to at least get some decent line-mates for Bedard.
Great breakdown. You know more about the Hawks than you should. Passing on Demidov is going to haunt Blackhawks fans for years to come.
Vlasic will be with Jones, hes our best defensive defensemen.
Hall missed all but 11 games last year, Athanasiou missed about half the season, Bedard was out for a month. They had various other injuries that kept them from being probably about 15 points better than what they were. So, when you add in more scoring up front and better defense, I think it's feasible to see 15-18 points more. I wouldn't be shocked to see them be in the low 80s for a point total. They will still be 8th or 9th worst team in the league, but a huge improvement.
I don’t think they’re a playoff team this season but the next.
Sounds like Korchinski is might start out in Rockford to further develop him.
The Bowman administration rushed guys too soon. See Adam Boquist, Henri Jokihariu and Kirby Dach
Wouldnt mind trading Kurashev while his stock his relatively high. I dont see sustained production from him when hes not on Bedards line.
Yeah. He scored just 1 goal in the 14 games that Bedard was injured.
I’d like to see him get another chance off the top line and see if he can finally produce there. If not, bump him up to Bedards line 3 weeks before the trade deadline, put up some numbers, then trade him.
I don’t really see him fetching a whole lot either way. Better to keep him
@@dparis2172He can, and should, finally be slotted down on line 3 where he naturally belongs.
Do the hawks also have Nolan Allan on the back end?
He’s probably not ready for a full time NHL gig. Still in Rockford next year, no doubt.
We’re going to be really good in a few years. Davidson has been stellar
I like what the hawks have done this year. They have like 16 forwards signed for next year so it would be interesting to see who makes the lineup. Here’s what I have for now
Bertuzzi bedard kurashev
Hall reichel Teravainen
Mikheyev Dickinson Nazar
Donato Foligno Athanasiou
Korchinski jones
A.Vlasic Murphy
Martinez Brodie
Mrazek
Brossoit
Bedard and Hall staying healthy will make the Blackhawks a better team before all the additions.
Call me crazy, but I could see this team be .500 finishing around 11th or 12th in the west. Bedard finally has some help up front, and I expect him to take a big step offensively this year. The defense has definitely gotten better with Martinez and Brodie, and I really believe Brossoit can play solid in net. The other young guys on the team should take a step forward as well.
I really like the additions they made. I think if they stay healthy they can win at least around 36 games. They definitely have better depth now. Gotta keep developing the young guys and hope they can lead the next great team.
A rebuild done right.
I really like these moves. My Blackhawks are not ready to spend big on FA, but adding the variety of Veterans (grit and experience to mentor our young core) and most especially BROSSOIT makes us a lot better than the last few years.
***Worst case scenario: BOT 5 of league again;
*DREAM: we challenge/end as a Wild Card?! (LOVE THE CHANNEL, SHANON!) {{GRATEFUL fan in CHICAGO}}
When do the Hawks make the playoffs? Obviously not in 2025. 2027, maybe?? Bedard should be a freaking beast by then, and he should have some help in one form or another.
Looking competitive for this coming season. Western conference is going to be crazy
This team should be better but not near the playoffs. I think another 2 to 3 seasons of building things up and then we should expect better days in Chicago. But having said that I do like what Chicago is doing. They got a lot of veterans to surround Connor Bedard and the other young players coming up through the system. I do think Kyle Davidson has Chicago on the right track. It's just going to take some time.
I really think they might be in the mix for a wild card position.
@@adriane7841Maybe, but you also gotta remember who is in their Division. Stars and Avs are still around, Nashville and Winnipeg are experienced, Utah is a very young and hungry group, along with Minnesota and St. Louis who can definitely be tough to play.
But you never know which teams catch fire and which ones flame out. So never say never.
@@adriane7841In November.
@@Charles_Groebs They likely got better than MIN and StL
I think stars take a dive this season!
I predict that Hawks will be about 7th or 8th worst team in the league next year as far as points. Any higher would be a surprise. If they make the playoffs, their young defenseman would be why and they are just figuring it out.
A stat nobody talks about are shots per game by players or teams.
Most every team in the playoffs avg 30 shots a game with only the 15th and 16th teams at 29.All the other non playoffs teams were down around 26-27.
I use to harp all the time that Joe Thronton was over rated because when the team needed him in big situations he never got any shots on net he was a one dimensional board battle guy good at no question but he could not be relied on to score or even shoot.
A number a MUST see is an avg of 2 shots per game from your top 6 otherwise move whomever out that is not getting pucks to the net.
Now of course you also need players that get to the net but again rebounds creates shots on net so you can see that shots matter.
Conor Bedard at only 18 was able to put up 206 shots in 68 games that is VERY good a 3 shot per game avg.So his stat alone skews the Hakws as a team which lowers the rest of the teams shots/gm /avg down even further.
Kurashev is up and down with puck luck. During the worlds he was not standing out in the Switzerland team. The effort was there , he created some good chances but was not a consistent scorer. He has still some work to do, but he is still young and I believe in his development.
Hawks need to figure out a good place for Reichel, cause if he sticks on the 4th line, the hawks have a problem. He feels more natural on wing, but it would be great if he could take hold of the 2nd line center position. It didn't work last season, but maybe this one? Dickenson i think it's best fut for 3rd line center.
He had a hard sophomore slump. I think he’s firmly in the top 6 this year.
@@MisterCaution god i hope you're right
@keithkosmal 2 years ago, Reichel had success with Athanasius and Kurashev. Hope Richardson tries uniting that line to see if it could have the same success???
@anthonytony8328 i think that would be in the cards since bertuzzi and teuvo will probably be playing top line. Taylor Hall will have a place on the top 2 lines if he can stay healthy, too.
@keithkosmal IMO, That should be the 3rd line, with Dickenson, Hall, and Mikheyev on the 2nd line. If Mikheyev can regain his scoring touch (14%/15%) that trade will be a steal.
THG, Vlasic and Jones are going to be paired again. They were separated at times to get Korchinski or other players going, but for most nights, they were inseparable.
id put reichel on the wing with foligno centering the line. foligno is way better at draws and they need that.
I don’t see Reichel playing on line 4.
im going to follow on san jose and chicago a lot the upcoming season. somehow i seem to lost interest in arizona now that they are utah, but we'll see
GO HOCKS!
GO BLAWKS!
GO CHAGO!
It feels weird seeing Big Rig on the Hawks, but it is a smart move having a 4th line guy still there to protect other players and not be a pushover on the 4th line and create traffic in front of the net. A good move for a 1 year contract.
I think I’m gonna have a tougher time adjusting to Martinez in a Hawks sweater. But all past grievances seem to melt away once they don the best crest in sports
adding two 20 goal scorers is an improvement yeah only on a KD team
Bertuzzi 100% will score on the Leafs next season. I am optimistic about Chicago, they greatly improved their depth, also have Maroon so they may make the playoffs. Looking forward to seeing them.
I think they are done being the league floormat, but my guess is that there are a few years left before this is a playoff team.
I think they've improved enough to be right around 500
Is this a start of season preview?
No, those start in August.

Larry Brossoit should win them 20-25 more games just by himself!
Gutman: "It's a fake!".
The log jam in the lineup is real, Rockford may be stacked, they may even start Korchinski and Lefshunov in Rockford together cause that is hopefully your future 1 d pairing, then, Slaggert and Nazar will also probably start in Rockford just because in the past besides Bedard Davidson likes to let the kids “over cook” in Rockford which isn’t a bad thing, see what happened with Kirby Dach, look what happened with Alex Vlasic after 3 years at BU then 1 full season in Rockford, he was solid last year. I agree with them probably still being a year away from really contending for a playoff spot but the worst is probably over now.

Did I not see that the Hawks reacquired Sam Lafferty? As part of one of those draft pick swaps? I thought I did…
The hawks traded for his rights and offered him a contract but he decided to test the market and was signed by Buffalo
Mrazek should've been an Oiler at the deadline
He extended with the Hawks pre-deadline, so that became very unlikely.
This is why Columbus was smart to turn down that trade for next years pick. They're done tanking, and they'd have even more incentive to go for it if they had traded their pick.
Agree completely. That trade sounded asinine from the get go. Why take a gamble on a possible future top 5 pick when you have the sure thing already? Though I suppose this draft class wasn’t necessarily seen as stellar so next year’s should be better
Bedard should hit the 50 goal mark this season

Love the white jersey over the red
When I was a kid the white was the home jersey, so we grew up worshipping the red because we never got to see it in person. 50 years later, I'm all about the white.
Agree, those white jerseys are the best. I don't like that collar they have had that started when Adidas start making the jerseys
On paper is correct. In reality it ain't much.
first off: Frank Nazar's last named is pronounced Nay-ZAR, not Nay-zer. i know the Hawks aren't a team you follow closely, so just heping you with the pronunciation
anyways, as constructed, the Hawks shouldn't have a top 5 pick next draft, but will probably finish with a draft pick in the 6-10 range
also, showing the Hawks with under $5M in cap room is very misleading, as CapFriendly (long live CapFriendly!) has 15 forwards, 6 dmen & 3 goalies on the roster, which is too many, so their actual cap room will be over $7M when the proper roster moves are made. just letting you know!
So,he mis pronounced his name,so mister know it all responds, get a life!
Can you take a look at the Calgary Flames? I curios to see your thoughts on them after selling Markstrom and Mangi. And drafting Zayne Parekh.
I think Calgary may be the worst team in the league this year
@@Me-eq3sgNope, clearly it will be SJ & Mtl as the 2 worst. Det & Chi could also be dreadful. Those might be the bottom 4 for me.
A combo of Pit, NYi, Phi, & 1 of StL or CLb would complete the bottom 8 for me. I could expect the Ana & Buf to be the next couple of teams rounding out Top 10 - as their core are still too young.
If I had to pick some teams that would rebound from last yr & kind of contend for a WC it would be Min, NJd, Cgy, & Was (didn't deserve to make the playoffs last yr but could deservingly make it this yr with a better offense)
NYi & LAk will regress this yr I think & miss out though. Flor might as well. Ott doesn't have a WC team either, they for finish 8th - 12th worst team range yet again.
They are definitely gonna need to be bad this year because they are not gonna make playoffs and they need to be bottom 10 if they wanna keep their 1st round draft pick.
Is this Reichel kid the son of Robert Reichel per chance? That was a guy I liked a lot when he came back after going back to Europe. Yes he came back with Toronto and I'm a Habs fan, but I wouldn't mind playing Toronto playing NHL on PC (until '07, after that I just patched the game for the line-changes and new/retired players/trades and didn't buy '08/'09 because they had stopped improving the graphics and general revamp console versions got circa '08/'09, but this isn't a bash-on-EA video, I'll stop here). I remember as a kid having a whole lot of Score series cards and I had a Robert Reichel one when he was with the Flames and Score only had the previous season stats on the back, and I was wondering where this guy that had just scored 40 with Calgary went, he wasn't in NHL 96 for PC (the first quasi-3d one, isometric is the name I think?) and I was glad him and Renberg came back at the same time, about the last time Toronto had a deep lineup, early/mid '00s.
