Hi Kevin , Also available from Amazon are 1/2" sched 40 pvc tees that are sized and threaded to accept the chicken / rabbit nipples. No drilling required ! You simply decide on the spacing between the nipples and cut the 1/2 pvc pipe to create that spacing. Assemble and you are done. My chickens are outside in a chicken tractor that has a shelter , roosts , and nesting boxes. I collect the rain water from the shelter ( coop ) roof and direct it to the five gallon bucket and it goes from there to the nipples. I get rain often enough that the bucket has never gone dry . My feed set up is on the opposite side and I fill it once a week. The feeder is below the coop so it is more or less protected from the rain. Depending upon which way the wind is blowing. Everything is contained within the chicken tractor which has wheels. Two minutes each day or every other day to move the chicken tractor to a new position. The part that takes me the longest usually is collecting eggs.
I love learning new things and I have learned so much from both of you. We closed on our own homestead yesterday 12.3 acres in Londell mo I am so excited to start trying things I've learned. Thanks for making time for us in your day I love it and look forward to every video!!!
This is by far the best way to water any birds. Keeps water clean. I have a set up I think you would like but can’t seem to paste a pic in comments. I will try sending to your Facebook page a bit later.
The 2 strand electric fence seams to be working great for you guus i cant wait to pasture raise our pigs. Thanks for what you guys are doing we learn so much from yall
To stay on cheap side, drill holes first ,then heat end of pvc pipe and squease in vise to close ends, then get ice maker tube and two fittings, put one on the back of longer pvc, then for mounting use saw to cut 1.5 inch long pieces for mounting split those pieces and heat to expand ,and to go over longer pipe for mounting drill and heat to go over pvc pipe use them for mounting couple of drywall screws and ready to go
Great idea, cleaner water for them and less work for you.....a win, win! I have seen people give their pigs those horse balls (I don't know what their true name is. Lol) and rope dog toys and they play just like kids. But I think I remember them telling me that the pigs eventually ate the rope. Lol. We have put up an old tire, like you would to make a swing, for ours to push around at times of boredom. Just if you do, beware of the height, make sure they can't try to climb through like ours and get stuck..... thank goodness we were still observing for possible mishaps when it happened! Wish we had of caught those following 30 minutes on video! It would have been a hit on AFHV! Thanks for sharing and God bless!
Quail are awesome they have such unique personalities they love cilantro too. Just make sure you have one male to 4-5 females. The male can be pretty mean...with each other when fighting separate them. Oh yeah and they are fast exciting the cagelol
I just saw the part of a later video where you talk about starting to incubate your quail for the first time, and I noticed that you changed to the watering cups versus the square nozzle things. An update about that would be nice considering you suggested in this video to use the ones you did that are in your amazon store....
Those pigs are cracking me up! Hey Kevin, I use that watering system for our quail! After a short few months, mine did leak at the barb so I eventually did add plumbers tape. God bless!
been checking everyday for more quail videos, i know you guys havent had them long, just wanted to say im looking foward to the knowledge once you're able to pass it
Ok here is a series I'm impatiently waiting for....quail everything! My husband loves quail but I've never raised them. Can you do a batch for meat in a Mobil chicken tractor?? I built the lumnah acres chicken tractor with all the accessories which includes the bucket with those nipples. Wondering if this type of setup can be used for quail? If so I'll build another one!
Would you consider selling a ready to assemble kit with all parts needed, except for the 18"pvc, clear tubing, and bucket. It's hard for me to focus and find the parts separately and a kit would be most helpful.
I’m wondering that too! It looks like later he switched to the cup version. I need to make one pronto because I’m sick on washing the quart sized waterers daily. 😆
How are the quail doing? Have you started processing any yet? If so could you share some information on them? Example, how many needed per person. How long from egg to processing age, etc... We would like to expand our homestead meat options. Thank you.
No update video? I searched on your channel and couldn't find one, so I guess I'm onto another channel to look for a solution that is tried and true. I'm back. I've researched and I'm going with this type of nipple so will watch this video again to see how you made the waterer.
Most of mine cracked tried Teflon same thing ended up with pvc glue and caulk then found out that they make the 1/2” tees in pvc...would have saved allot of time and frustration.
I just found your channel, the first video i watched was you moving the pigs to the bigger area with electric fencing. I remember you saying the only draw back is you dont have running water in that area so you have to bring buckets of water. I have found on TH-cam videos of people showing how to dig 12’ wells and it seems to work well and is simple with some elbow grease. Just a thought
Thanks for sharing. The water system. look very economy.

Our pigs used to love the basketball to play with. Great watering system. Thanks for sharing.
I love starting my morning with Billy Graham, Joni Eareckson Tada, and my friends Kevin and Sarah.

You have some of the coolest ideas, Kevin. Next spring when I get quail again, I'll have to come back to this. Maybe even rig one up for les chickens!
Wow the pigs look a lot bigger
been checking everyday for more quail videos, i know you guys havent had them long, just wanted to say im looking foward to the knowledge once you're able to pass it
Keeping it Dutch has the new improved feeder..
😃
I can't find the Amazon link for the nipple waterers? Thanks for the video!

y'all have a great day!
Ok great video. We need this. Just built a quail habitat!! Looks like our son has a new project!!! Would you do anything different?

How well did this end up working? I'm just building my cages getting ready to start.
I’m wondering that too! It looks like later he switched to the cup version. I need to make one pronto because I’m sick on washing the quart sized waterers daily. 😆
Debating on this style vs cup style...how did you decide? Have you been satisfied with these? Thanks
@Greg Babin ,
I use the cup style. My chickens seem to prefer being able to drink rather than just sip.
How are the quail doing? Have you started processing any yet? If so could you share some information on them? Example, how many needed per person. How long from egg to processing age, etc... We would like to expand our homestead meat options. Thank you.
I used the same poultry nipples for quails they are too rigid! The quails don’t have enough pecking force to get water out of it.

Where’s your follow up video mate?
Most of mine cracked tried Teflon same thing ended up with pvc glue and caulk then found out that they make the 1/2” tees in pvc...would have saved allot of time and frustration.
Is there any reason I couldn’t use 1 inch pvc pipe. I have some leftover from a previous project

Question how much Apple cider vinegar do you put in a 5 gallon water for the quail
Great content!
How do you keep it from freezing in winter? Ty
We don’t use them in the winter.
@@LivingTraditionsHomestead what watering method do you use in winter? Ty
Link to the update video?
They are eating the bag.
How did sarah like her surprise
It looks like the quails legs will go through the wire spacing?
Hi Kevin,
Are you keeping the quails for the eggs or do you also eat them?
We are keeping them for both but they aren't laying yet.
I hope they are then laying quickly as they need to earn their keep. LOL
Why no roost branch ?
Hey Kevin,,, What kind of quail are those?
Corturnix
Now if there was one that wouldn't freeze for those of us with quail way up north......
You aught to give them some dog toys, something to play with
hi can u please tell us more about quail :)
how u bread them or what kind of food they eat ....i wana start rasing them for meat
No that is not the first retrieving pig are used to play soccer with my pigs and they will bring the ball back to me for a swig of beer lol
thats not really a bung, its a bulkhead fitting. Would be better off using barbed 90's
Kevin, buddy, you do not look well. Its in your eyes. Have you seen the doctor lately? You have me worried. [Video on quail waterer from aug 17 2018]
Don't overpay for bestbuy sux ballss.
Careful, that pig will become a pet. Makes it tuffer to put in freezer.
We won't have a problem with that. 😊 Been harvesting our own meat for years.
Damn; this guy is sexy.
