The restaurant business is the toughest business I know and restaurant owners the most resilient people I know. If you're already in business or starting one, you must have a budget and recipe costing cards. Period.
This is crazy. You are short in saying NEVER GET INTO RESTAURANT BUSINESS. Whatever business you engaged in you can be rich. its just a matter of multiplication. First know your market,(Who are you going to feed?). Second find a Chef whose specialties will most likely satisfy your market. So, you are going to feed travelers. The location of your restaurant must be along the highway. Travelers are hungry and in a hurry. So your menu must be dishes that are familiar to them, quick and easy to prepare. Think what the children most likely want to eat too. Your comfort rooms must always be immaculately clean. Does it have flat space for replacing diapers? There are 3 factors you must observe and your staff at all times: DELICIOUS FOOD, CLEAN in and around the restaurant and the most important of all GOOD SERVICE. If you want to have branches, design a fool proof control system from inventory to cash sales. Weak control system encourages pilferage. Weak manager seduces staff to behave improperly and carelessly. So be kind, just but tough. I already have 4 restaurants and 2 more to be opened soon. 1 in January and the other one, by March. So, good luck.
May I add some more: its not true that your business success depends on expensive advertisement. Word of mouth is the most effective ad. if you satisfy 10 customers a day and endorse your restaurant to ten individuals, imagine how many customers you will have in a year's time. How many customers do you think you'll have in ten years time? Also, don't listen to those who say you need experts to tell you what to do. That's waste of money. The fact is "experts" are those who have ideas but have no experiences whatsoever. You learn as you go along. Adjust here and there and always listen to your customers spoken and unspoken feedback. Focus, focus and focus on your customers. Dale Carnegie wrote something like this, "When you go fishing, you don't bring with you chocolate that you like most but worms because that;s what fish like." Your customers needs and wants should be your utmost concern. Again, don;t ever forget the factors I mentioned above. Hammer them on the heads of your staff because nothing can go wrong if all those 3 are well carried out.
@@NhungNguyen-ne4wr I thought I answered you already. Anyway, yes let's be friends. I advise you to save money needed for fixed assets. Only borrow money for your working capital not to saddle your newly opened business with huge interest payments. Remember, you are just starting and you have no idea how much you are going to earn. So as much as possible only spend for important things needed to jump start your restaurant. As you go along, you will know what other things you need to improve service, make your food attractive and delicious and to maintain cleanliness. Have you decided what kind of food you will serve? Visit existing restaurants and know their selling dishes. Why are these dishes selling? Know the prices, observe how their staff move around, arrangement of tables, the over all appearance of the restaurants, their toilets, their kitchen and most of all know why they have patronage. Know too their weak points because those are the things you have to have in your restaurants to be able to compete with them. I am so confident already in this business but believe me my knees shake and I suffer sleepless nights every time I open a new branch. This is what I usually do. While the space is being renovated, I hung this huge billboard saying. "watch for the opening of- - - -" It has pictures of our specialties. A week before the opening day, We hung another billboard that says, Taste our dishes for quarter of their prices. We also hung many billboards giving direction and invitation along the highway two kilometers away in both directions. ( did I tell you already, my restaurants are meant for travelers but not exclusively? The prices so shockingly low, people can't resist but come hahahaha. I opened a branch with free meals for the whole day. We did not do it again because we were overwhelmed by people. It was a nightmare. So don't go to that extreme hahaha Then we reduce the discount to 50%, after a couple of months to 20% . In normal operation, we maintain 25% discounts in our 5 selling dishes but our specialties are priced normally. Don't hesitate to ask specific question if you have.
Good Karma is one of several beer-lover destinations in downtown San Jose, but it is unique in it's simple happieness. Order your premium beer, have it poured, and move on to enjoying a good drink. The beer selection is great without being overly expansive; the food is EXCELLENT without being distracting. so Many tings wrong with this video: * It is Creating Impression that opening a restaurant is the worst Idea and very risky one, however this business is as good as any other business. * It does not need expensive advertising, simple social Media marketing and putting advertisement in local newspaper or media is enough. The best marketing is one where your Happy customer spreads the word about your restaurant. so Instead of spending a lot on advertisement you must focus on Service and Food. * If we want to compare statistics then 90% startups fails every year, comparing them with restaurant Industry, 60% does not sound that bad. We must need to understand why restaurant fails, it is not a easy business so casual approach to it's will not help you. You need to be professional and spend your money wisely. Keep the decor simple, keep control on Kitchen Pantry and avoid food wastage. Have regular talk with the staff and Customers. Staff will give you idea about how to increase efficiency while from Customer you can get to know about your scope to improve. * Those who say restaurant business can not make you rich are living in delusional world, it is one of the most talked about business. So many travels channels focused on food and restaurant only. McDonald and KFC, Pizza Hut, Domino aren't this all are restaurant chain? * Restaurant business needs careful planning and better financial strategy. Location is Important but not as much as this channel is focusing, at the end of the day it is all depends upon what and who is your target customer. You won't believe how much people travels to have food at their favorite restaurant. * Location will help you for a short period only, but it should be match with quality food and service, otherwise people will stop visiting no matter how good that location is. * so if you want to start your restaurant then focus on your target customer and then choose the location and type of restaurant. all the best and good Luck 👍

Good Job, ALUX ...as an update to this issue, the food industry (Farm >> Grocery >> Restaurant) has taken a fatal blow with the Covid_19 virus 'scandal' ...like the previous post-2000 (9/11, 2008) crisis, of the INTERNET (dotcom & communication), and financial (housing) bubbles popping ...this one can be called THE FOOD STANDARD (health, medicine, safety) and will change the 'commercial' world forever ...Since 2008, when 50% of commercial traffic disappeared (noted by the empty shopping centers and malls) ...NOW, foot traffic and entertainment venues have been driven indoors (Pay-Per-View), ironically for the convenience of the INTERNET (system, that has developed 'SmartPhones' and remote video conferencing) ...The 'Freelance 1099' labor force seems to be taking the challenge with 'shopping & delivery' services to supplant 10% of the Labor Force that disappeared almost overnight ...Restaurants are being replaced with 'Ghost Kitchens' and 'Food Trucks' that cater to closely-held neighborhoods ...Hotels and Motels are being converted to 'Homesteads' and wearing Costumes (with air filtering masks) is becoming 'Fashion' led by Celebrities (That feel our pain) ...The MEDIA has kept this ball in the air and on fire since the 2000 ball drop at Time Square in New York, NY IMHO, civilization has finally succeeded and can now stabilize with a rich history of suffering and challenge to tell our ancestors ...someday

Have you guys noticed that : eating out is very difficult and expensive. in an area, typically, you might find an outlet selling pizza, you might sometimes find a restaurant in which meals are quite expensive, and that's it. Here you barely have : very few foods, and they are expensive You can eat almost nothing, Do you guys see ? This model is very inefficient Eating out is nearly impossible Something is definitely missing it is : a restaurant where food keeps changing, food changes every day Chefs also rotate A meal is going to be cheap You get new foods every day. After a period of time : you will have eaten thousands of foods Do you see the difference now ? This model is way better Eating out will finally become possible.

This video is somewhat helpful, but I don't appreciate the condescending negative tone of the video. It's like scare, scare, scare and that will ensure that whoever watches this video will be successful in opening a restaurant. No, you just bummed them out, so that no one wants to open a restaurant. Because obviously everyone is in it to get rich and avoid working weekends and holidays.
I work for a restaurant as a food runner, garde manger, bus tables, janitor and deal with customers and prick servers. I lost all weekends. I work during the holidays. My days off are usually Monday and Tuesday. The pay is decent. Good news free food 😋 that's due to having good relations with cooks. Bad relations with cooks lead to headaches and sabotage. .... So yeah opening a restaurant here is not for the faint of heart. In Mexico you are allowed to turn your home kitchen into a commercial kitchen. That saves money and time

However, either way, *I KNOW*I WILL* find a way to make it regardless~ Cheers! ;)
*LOVE* your channel, THANK YOU!
Yes i have seen a unique restaurant with unique system for taking order...
Always getting schooled on this channel:)
Can you do 15 things about the gaming undustry?
The one thing I say that most locally owned Restaurants is the menu. Too much menu items. Keep it simple but make it high quality so that you’re making profit from everything.
I think that's very tough on the family and the spouse when one of the spouses have to work on holidays. People expect holidays as a time to spend with family but sacrifices need to be made in order to put food on the table.
What about everyone that works retail anyhow?
I would also add free samples. A lot of times I don’t know how something tastes if there isn’t a free sample.
Good Job, ALUX
...as an update to this issue, the food industry (Farm >> Grocery >> Restaurant) has taken a fatal blow with the Covid_19 virus 'scandal'
...like the previous post-2000 (9/11, 2008) crisis, of the INTERNET (dotcom & communication), and financial (housing) bubbles popping
...this one can be called THE FOOD STANDARD (health, medicine, safety) and will change the 'commercial' world forever
...Since 2008, when 50% of commercial traffic disappeared (noted by the empty shopping centers and malls)
...NOW, foot traffic and entertainment venues have been driven indoors (Pay-Per-View), ironically for the convenience of the INTERNET (system, that has developed 'SmartPhones' and remote video conferencing)
...The 'Freelance 1099' labor force seems to be taking the challenge with 'shopping & delivery' services to supplant 10% of the Labor Force that disappeared almost overnight
...Restaurants are being replaced with 'Ghost Kitchens' and 'Food Trucks' that cater to closely-held neighborhoods
...Hotels and Motels are being converted to 'Homesteads' and wearing Costumes (with air filtering masks) is becoming 'Fashion' led by Celebrities (That feel our pain)
...The MEDIA has kept this ball in the air and on fire since the 2000 ball drop at Time Square in New York, NY
IMHO, civilization has finally succeeded and can now stabilize with a rich history of suffering and challenge to tell our ancestors ...someday
Thank You So much by the do make a 15 Things About Zimbabwe PLEASE!!!!!!!

Always confirm the order with the customer so he or she knows you care about accuracy. Put gloves on before you clean with chemicals so you do not die. Always clean with food safe materials.
I would like to open my very own restaurant called Retro Lunch, which is a 50's style restaurant.

I am thinking about a new type of restaurants: eating-spots
in eating-spots, food keeps changing, chefs also rotate
this is opposed to current restaurants,
thanks to this rotation of food and chefs, eating-spots are more powerful than restaurants,
along with that, there is an app,
people vote for the food that will be cooked in the next days
menu is influenced by the live input of the people via an app
After working in a restaurant, I would never want to own one
why ?
@@tejdushad01 there are so many variables in running a restaurant, and there are so many things that could go wrong
I own one now without ever working in one
How so?
@@tejdushad01
Watch kitchen nightmares with a pencil and paper
Overbuying food
Poor management
Non fresh ingridients
Not buying proper equipment
It's practically a constant balancing act where if you fall you loose money, and that throws you further off balance
I was expecting Ramsey
U are the best! Love your vidos
Thank you for all this important information
Can I get some details on running a salon business ?
Have you guys noticed that :
eating out is very difficult and expensive.
in an area, typically,
you might find an outlet selling pizza,
you might sometimes find a restaurant in which meals are quite expensive,
and that's it.
Here you barely have : very few foods, and they are expensive
You can eat almost nothing,
Do you guys see ?
This model is very inefficient
Eating out is nearly impossible
Something is definitely missing
it is : a restaurant where food keeps changing, food changes every day
Chefs also rotate
A meal is going to be cheap
You get new foods every day. After a period of time : you will have eaten thousands of foods
Do you see the difference now ?
This model is way better
Eating out will finally become possible.

Edward Ladrera I’m setting up my restaurant here in India and I will definitely take your advice...
@@holysmoke9326 Good to hear I breath life to your enthusiasm. I heard Indian dishes are deliciously hot hot hot. Someday, perhaps I can visit your country too to adopt some of those salivating dishes. I am leaving for Pakistan very soon to climb mountains. I will definitely pass through Karachi to see that street covered with all kinds of street food. Also, I will visit some markets, I heard full of so many kinds of spices. Customers are always thrilled to try new dishes you know. OK Naam, good luck to your new restaurant. Don't worry. You WILL succeed.
Edward Ladrera thank a lot bud, give me your Instagram id or something so I can’t get in touch with you..

Hey alux, pls make a video about clothing business startup..

Hey Alux, Can you please make a video of 15 Things you didn't know about Johnson & Johnson
Any great control ideas? I find all servers, cooks & generally staff steal & I can’t be there 18 hrs a day.
Thanku for uploading ☺☺☺
Thanks 😊
Can u make video on clubs or bar plzzzz luv your videos😍
That saves money and time
The thing is, if this makes you scared or seem down, maybe a restaurant isnt for you. I understood all of these and feel i want to own a restaurant.
