    Hi Todd, I've watched a number of your videos and find them to be informative and helpful. Could you please explain what's happening and how to walk correctly in the cases of knocked knees (genu valgum) or bowed legs (genu varum). Would these be special cases that would prevent one from loading the knees and hips properly? thanks for your help.

      If there is a significant anatomical deformity, it will change the nature of the movement and I can't say for sure what the compensation would be. Research shows that people who are bowlegged with arthritis in the knees have reduced pressure from walking duck footed. My goal is to catch people before the development of real structural changes because then it isn't possible for me to analyze the consequence to how the core movements will affect things.

    I like this video :) needed! I have a lot of surprises immune and cancer and recently had a stress fracture non injury related . Then because of my auto immune I have moderate atrophy on my quad . The right knee is now bothering me. (That one isn’t stress fractured) I am stressed though and frustrated I am 53 and was always active . I need to walk and workout . Any tips ? Keeping the muscles strong is essential to preserve your knees. Low impact exercises on land are most helpful. You can checkout my exercise playlist which has very low impact movements based on Tai Chi which can be helpful. Tai Chi is proven to be beneficial also. My exercises use the same principles without having to learn Tai Chi

    Hi Dr when i try changing wieght to the other leg. In loding résponse And After tuck thé pelvis and turn thé pelvis backward i lOse thé flexion of thé knee because thé knee folw thé pelvis plz explain to me that point

    • @ToddMartinMD
      @ToddMartinMD  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The knee should begin to flex the same instant you begin to tuck the pelvis. If you are walking correctly, it will always flex as soon as the heel touches the ground.

    Please tell me which side of lower abs are active while standing on both foots with equally body weight distributed, because I think that both side of abs activation is the wrong technique for body posture it will be tilted our pelvic posterily. Please clear my dought

      You are correct. I am going to post a video on this in a couple of days so you can see the details for standing posture. For now if you go to my most recent posture video you can see the explanation. That will be easier than writing the explanation.

    I want khnow in the pepoel using thé gluts in your vidéo you Said thé shifting wieght by tuck the pelvis . In the push off way i khnow it's the Bad way for walking i just want khnow how they shifting thé wieght from thé rear leg to the the front . Leg

    • @ToddMartinMD

      They step forward by leaning as they push until they fall onto the forward leg. The lean can come from the upper body or by keeping the pelvis in an anterior pelvic tilt. After they have fallen onto the forward foot, then they use the lower abs to transfer weight, but the timing is off

      @@ToddMartinMD how they using thé lower abb by tunking and how Can that happend if they in antrior tilt of thé pelvis before

    • @ToddMartinMD
      @ToddMartinMD  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rimassbouchia4260 Thanks for asking. I combined the two ideas incorrectly. If you are leaning forward from the top, you can change weight with the lower abs. If you have a fixed anterior pelvic tilt, all that is done is that you pick up the rear leg by flexing it without changing weight. That is why the weight distribution is so dangerous for people with an anterior tilt.
