I just purchased this title this past month. It is my favorite Bomberman game on the N64. It should have been the first game released in the US for the N64. Being that it was released late in the system's life, it was sadly missed.
For the longest time, my favorite Bomberman game was the Japan-exclusive Super Bomberman 5 but then I picked up Bomberman Hero... SBM5 has met its match
Same that SNES Super Bomberman 5 was on top of my list alongside the PC engine & Megadrive version - Mega Bomberman/ Bomberman '94 & then I discovered this gem. Luckily I managed to get the disk. The battle modes are my favourite. This one has some special things, love it. Also there's Super Bomberman 3 on the SNES it was only released in Japan & Europe, that 1 is my 3rd favourite. Worth checking out.
When I first saw this game, my mind was blown. It reminded me of Saturn Bomberman and with the other Bomberman games released on the system having such a polarizing effect on the fanbase, its a shame this game was never localized. Luckily, as you said, this game is quite import-friendly and hopefully people will give this game a try after seeing this.
Marco Wolken id hope so too, thats why i like doing the japanese eye because there are so many games which are still a blast to play that a lot of people may know nothing about
Man, I keep thinking I'm done collectins N64 stuff. Then you make a video. Last time it was Tetrisphere. Now this! This looks amazing. I'm going to have to import this for sure! Thanks for posting this.
***** FYI, Sega Swirl is a clone of a Japanese puzzle game which was originally known as Chain Shot! in 1985. A similar game was later created for UNIX workstations in 1992, called Same Game. Same Game has been remade and ported to many different computers and game consoles. Western players will better recognize fairly similar games under the names Bejeweled and Candy Crush Saga.
This certainly made me envy getting Second Attack all the more. Never played a lot of Bomberman, but the well crafted adventure of B64 certainly gave me an interesting new perspective on the Mario 64 style of world building. Whenever I see classic Bomberman, I'm less impressed. I just don't find the strict puzzle style to be all that appealing, though this game set certainly seems to have enough going for it if I was to pick it up. Good show as always, Glenn!
Sad the Bomberman Franchise is nearly dead today, he deserves better... My favorite games are the N64 ones, I just love the Worlds and the bomb planting in a 3D. A classic often forgotten is Bomberman Tournament, the RPG elements gave a fresh breath of air into the Bomberman formula!
Absolutely love this game. I have it right here ❤ The SNES Super Bomberman 5 was on top of my list alongside the PC engine & Megadrive version called - Mega Bomberman/ Bomberman '94 & then I discovered this gem. Luckily I managed to get the disk. The battle modes are my favourite. This one has some special things, love it. Ollie Martin strange how they ditched all of their progress with the 3d styled games to go back to basics, especially as they didnt release this in the west
Wow looks brill Glenn and western friendly to boot!! great stuff, you should do a table/review of the games you've covered and how 'western' friendly they are, kinda rate them
I always loved this game, I was lucky enough to snag it on eBay years ago when it was more rarely on there. My friends and I played the multiplayer mode a lot.
Holy crap, a fully 2D Bomberman game? On the Nintendo 64? NICE! I had no idea about this one. *Edit-- Watching further, wow.. it's a mini game collection. Interesting, this isn't quite what I expected.
I really like Bomberman 93/94(for the TG16, I have them from the Wii VC), Generation, and Saturn. I've spent a lot of time playing those. I've played some Hero recently and like it but it's not a favorite. And I still need to get the other N64 Bomberman games(though 2nd Attack/Arcade aren't cheap so not sure when that will happen) Bomberman Arcade looks fun. I don't have any japanese games for my N64 yet(I do have Sin and Punishment but on the Wii VC), would have to look into how to play them. With the different gameplay modes it kind of reminds me of Pokemon Stadium.
Pimpalicious1987 I've always wanted a pc engine but never had the chance to own one, so many cool games on there id like to check out. it really wasn't popular at all here in the uk on its launch...i didnt know a single person who owned one back then
Same thing here. The only way I've played TG16/PCE games is from the Wii Virtual Console. Some pretty good ones like the Bomberman games, Lords of Thunder, and Ninja Spirit.
Huh, I just assumed it would be classic bomberman and just ignored it (as I prefer the adventure bomberman titles). That minigame park thing looks fun though so I might stick it on my radar.
Yeah bomberman park is pretty rad! It's confusing as this is known as bomberman 64 in Japan and the game we know as bomberman 64 is baku bomberman there
very intresting bomberman n64 game me and my youtube friend name chrono loved the n64 bomberman games and no doubt me and my youtube friend chrono will definatly love this one as well ^_^ i also dig the soundtrack in this n64 bomberman game i always thought all the n64 bomberman games had great soundtracks and my youtube friend chrono would agree with me but im getting ahead of myself great review as always i'll definatly play this one on a n64 emulator for sure and my youtube friend chrono will no doubt play bomberman 64 arcade sense he is a huge bomberman fan and all so anywho great review and keep up the good work
Well.. here something i didn't know about it. ^^; The game looks quite interesting with some interesting features. But for another it reminds me a old game release for the WII and PSP, Bomber land. Or a least quite similar. Too bad it never came out to outside of Japan. :(

awww, pang! (buster bros) that is really brings some memories playing as a child and the 3th mode looks like a certain mode in puzzle quest...
Another great review. I like bomberman hero, the soundtrack alone keeps me going back to it.
I love that soundtrack too!
This looks flipping incredible! I wish this had came to North America. Damn this would have been perfect!
At least you can play it now! Let me know how you find it when you do!
Damn, I had no idea this game existed.
Poor Europeans only getting 2/4 Bomberman games for N64..
Yeah kinda sucked hey
and america to.
@@Piboom4 North America had 3/4 Bomberman N64 games.
you mean lucky

***** thanks for watching, hope you enjoy it when you get it!
I totally agree with you, this channel has been my guide on what to collect and im always keeping a watchful eye on my ebay account...so many games!!!
the eye intro is awesome 👍👌
Thank you :-)
One of my favourite series and this one my favourite version of the ones for the N64. Love it :)
The 3rd Game mode reminded me A LOT of Sega Swirl For the Dreamcast,by the way, great video as always
Thank you, I don't know that game but I'll look it up!

I love bomberman 64 the most in the world!
but this one seems like a nice throwback for the series. I also loved mega bomberman!!!
All great titles!
Is it just me or does it seem like all the good sprite based games for this console with the exception of a questionable yoshi game got left in Japan?
mischief makers and (i believe) mk 64?

Yeah this is cool because the main bomberman park mode doesn't have a puzzle element to it
Nice one Glenn, another insightful review
Gunnerholic thanks gunner :)
This is a must!!!
I recently learned that this game did receive an English patch.
I don't know when it came out, but I'm definitely happy it's a thing.
Have you tried it?
This game looks really fun, I’ll definetly pick it up if I ever see one.
Thanks for suggesting this video for me :)

Diablokiller999 i will get around to reviewing the last 2 n64 bomberman games soon i hope
I felt that this game is like a bomberman land port in some way

very interesting game i wonder why they didnt bring it out sooner i mean it seem like a basic bomberman game with a couple modes extra
Ollie Martin strange how they ditched all of their progress with the 3d styled games to go back to basics, especially as they didnt release this in the west
yeah i guess they thought theyed make a quick buck off of this
I actually didn't know this existed until now!
Wow looks brill Glenn and western friendly to boot!! great stuff, you should do a table/review of the games you've covered and how 'western' friendly they are, kinda rate them
That's perhaps a good idea!
10% ;)
I always loved this game, I was lucky enough to snag it on eBay years ago when it was more rarely on there. My friends and I played the multiplayer mode a lot.
Yeah now it's time hire a hard one to find
I really enjoy this version of Bomberman.
Love the Taka Michinoku music in the beginning. Are you a fan of puroresu glenn?
Yup I am, I’ll watch the big NJPW shows mostly for kenny omega but I also like Marty scurl as I’ve met him a few times
Time to blast this joint.
argenis garcia amen to that!
Heh, i didn't even know this game existed, thanks Glenn.
Play it and I hope you like it!

*Edit-- Watching further, wow.. it's a mini game collection. Interesting, this isn't quite what I expected.
Austin Mackert the 2d style bomberman is quite a long game in itself, its not the easiest but there are a ton of levels just in that mode alone
Never knew this game existed. Only ever played Bomberman 64 and Hero.
Did you ever play second attack? That rocks too
great review, this is one of the bombermans that i have to get and that i am sad that i didnt pick up when i found one online.
Yeah because now the price is high for an import game

yep ^_^ and that's cool to know too

I hope you give this a play, it's worth spending some time on :-)
As a bomber man fan, I wish this came to the west.
muy bueno se ve este bomberman
i think it was ugly, but i think if it would have looked more like a n64 game then it could have done vary well.
