    Really helped me in PA school, thank you. Especially the practice questions. *For SJS, both lamotrigine and carbamazepine can cause it, so they probably won't show up together among answers. For elevated LFTs, both valproic acid and carbamazepine can cause that, though valproic acid may be the more classic case. I'd also bet they wouldn't have both as answer options for transaminitis. Many thanks again!

    Lamictal was worsening my oral lichen planus which became erosive where my gums would bleed and become swollen. When I stopped Lamictal my gums issue resolved considerably. I have read Lithium can worsen OLP too which concerns me as I feel I need a mood stabilizer to help with my lows.

    Not doubting at all, just noting that it seems weird to me that Lithium works through the IP3 pathway. Given the side effects, I would have thought it would affect ADH V2 receptors (cAMP signaling). The IP3 ADH receptor are V1 receptors. Thyroid issues could be either cAMP (TSH) or IP3 (TRH).

    • @DirtyMedicine
      @DirtyMedicine  4 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Your train of thought is a little too concrete for this; the reason Lithium has so many toxicities/side effects isn't because it affects intracellular signaling as your comment would suggest, but because toxic accumulation of Lithium salt in various organs results in dysfunction.
