I hope people start to appreciate really how great Jon jones truly is . The run he’s had I don’t think will ever be duplicated, his first 4 title defenses were against former champions . Truly remarkable , I hope he gets the W against Gane and dominates the heavy weight division.
Jones cheated multiple times in the past, both with PEDs and eye-pokes. Permanent asterisks on his legacy, his last fights showed he is not that guy anymore. Considering how shitty of a person he is, and the fact he's an unrepentant cheat, I hope he loses at Heavyweight to Gane who is 10 times the person Jones is, and is far more deserving of that belt and greatness. Honestly Mighty Mouse is prob the most dominant UFC fighter ever. I haven't looked into it much, but just thinking out loud, plus he has a 100% clean record. You can argue his div wasn't competitive though, which is a fair argument. There have been other potential goat fighters like GSP etc also, never caught on PEDs.

Man if Santos didn’t lose his entire base w not one but both his knees blowing out like that I think he could’ve def beat him by stoppage in that fight. Would’ve had a solid chance anyway. Crazy he fought on those broken stilts like that. That’s gotta be one of the gutsiest performances of all time. How he wasn’t in excruciating pain w all those ligaments and tendons torn in both knees is crazy. Had to be perfect center tears somehow.
Yeah, every time he caught Jon with those massive punches Jon felt them. The thing was that Santos had the chance of a knockout, but Jones was using all kinds of different techniques.
I remember that jones vs gustaffson fight like it was yesterday. Buffalo wild wings back when it rocked. The whole restaurant was going ballistic the whole time!
Peak Jones was so complete, athletic, and cerebral. He has become an even more thoughtful fighter, but when he was at his athletic peak he appeared unbeatable. Silva, Fedor, Khabib, and Aldo had it as well, but none had the unbelievable athleticism; DJ might be the only guy to look as unbeatable as well as being so athletically gifted. Also that Gus fight was his greatest battle, Reyes was also really great, but got'damn that Gus fight was good.
24:06 look at that combo 🔥 Jon has gone up against the craziest of fighters and all of them went complete crazy mode for Jon. Matches to be thankful for. Enjoyed the video nicely done
The only thing I wanna see more of from Jonny is his boxing. He throws amazing kicks, knees, and elbows. His wrestling is obviously elite. I just wanna see more with his hands. He’s got the longest reach ever. If he threw more combinations, and really extended his punches, he could be putting people to sleep.
Right, he’s a super creative striker but rarely pieces together combos with that reach. His skill is still enough to dominate all but the very best strikers though.
@Evan Sullivan Since the gus fight he has been pretty good with boxing... His head movement and reaction time is probably the best in the u f c now...His SApM is only 2.22 in 26 fights
Reminds me of the quote "A good fighter knows his mental and physical limit but a great fighter always finds a way to win" Though he couldn't figure out Reyes and just waited for him to tire out 😂
Jon’s body of work is incredible. Evan’s, rampage, machida, rua, belfort, gane, sonnen, mans seen and retired some absolute legends and still going in 2024
I’m glad someone pointed this out. That specifically stuck out to me in this video as well. It seems like Jones is on some psychopath shit upstairs lol It’s like he has the mindset of wanting to and not just only the skills to do damage in there. Made him an absolute killer in the cage yet in the outside world didn’t seem to mend so well.
I remember watching Jon Jones early on in his insane title run. The resume of this man is probably the most impressive in UFC LHW history. It was clear he was an insanely talented fighter. Then watching him on Ultimate Fighter, he seemed like such a mature and genuinely kind person. He was a great leader to the guys he was coaching. It really seemed for a while like he had it all, save a few blemishes. It’s sad that he made so many poor decisions in the public eye that ruined that reputation. Otherwise, he absolutely would be widely considered the GOAT without question.
Been a die hard fan for 2/3 years watching every event never seen Jones live but this man is scary looking forward to seeing him in the octagon this year
Jones fights like he's controlling a computer game fighter, unleashing rare techniques with no-hesitation what so ever. Flying knee, axe kick, spinning back fist, spinning heel kick, up kick etc etc etc Mans a phenom
I still think his fight with Vitor was most underrated. He submitted a black belt in jiu jitsu with an americana. Very nice basic choke after you learn a basic rare naked choke and he pulled it off. Also while being a yelllow belt himself.
watching the highlights of the gustafson fight and the reyes fight was crazy, forgot how competitive those fights were. even thiago santos had his moments
Just take a second and look at all the people he beat in this compilation, think of all the fights we have watched them shine, I mean people go on about Khabib being undefeated but look at Jones resume, it's insane he beat so many former world champs and beasts in their own right
Yeah. Sometimes truly incredible, champion-level fighters peak during an era where's there's one dude better than them. In another time, they would have been the champ.
Would 100% be the LHW champ nowadays if he Was still fighting, his quote about Jon was also crazy "For me beating Jon Jones is bigger than winning a belt' Holy shit man🐐
I always wondered if Sonnen had survived the round, what would've happened... Jones still would've found a way to win, I'm pretty sure. His toe/foot looked gnarly, though.
yeah what a hero battling his demons using his car to smash into a pregnant womans car and running away like the little thug bitch he is. Truly the greatest fighter of all time, thats why he needed to grab ears, poke eyes, knee on the ground, kick on the ground, and do T 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
These were all top notch opponents at the time too. Legends in their prime. Plus Trt Vitor who I still believe is one of the greatest fighters of all time
Seeing prime Jones versus guys like Machida, Evans, Vitor and even a previously HW Cormier really reminds you what a massive advantage he had in size. Still insanely impressive nonetheless, but nearly every opponent he faced his own size, he controversially won like versus Gus and Reyes, or had very mediocre fights like when he fought OSP and Anthony Smith.
just like conor a fighter could have jones by his foot leaning backwards and jones could still punch him flush....and that happened many time the first Gus fight he clearly lost then the second fight jones was roided up 100% and jones lost to Reyes also Reyes fought the fight of his life and the judges took it away edit...Kennedy stomped jones and was robbed
Ok let’s all be honest, it’s gonna be good to have Jon Jones back! He really is one of the most exciting fighters to watch. Let’s hope he’s as good at heavyweight as he was at light heavy. What a beast!

All the guys you named are certainly top top echelon... But those guys trained hard, honed their talent... Jones is the definition of a true genius who was so good that it bored him so he half-assed it and STILL outclassed the best... Those who know call him a genius, while others just couldn't classify it so they called it "a gift from God" in order to explain it... Every other goat dedicated their lives to MMA while Jones was the bored Einstein who got coked up and drugged up and literally gave what he felt like when he felt like it... Even the Kobe's and Jordan's of the world went full blast their entire lives at all times... Jones didn't train hard in combat from day one like khabib or GSP... He's like Will Hunting from Good Will Hunting who just walked in and embarrassed all the established greats and never took it seriously... That's just a small little thought of mine

The only thing I wanna see more of from Jonny is his boxing. He throws amazing kicks, knees, and elbows. His wrestling is obviously elite. I just wanna see more with his hands. He’s got the longest reach ever. If he threw more combinations, and really extended his punches, he could be putting people to sleep.
his clench work is nasty with the elbows, cranks and chokes. he uses his reach to guide jabs to expose weak points to get into the clinch

I still think his fight with Vitor was most underrated. He submitted a black belt in jiu jitsu with an americana. Very nice basic choke after you learn a basic rare naked choke and he pulled it off. Also while being a yelllow belt himself.
