For dude to say he don’t know why this is a classic is asinine. Why review an album that you have no frame of reference of? First off you have to understand the surroundings and everything that came with the release of this album. Everybody thought Cube was crazy for leaving NWA. Nobody thought he could go solo and be successful, so he was under immense pressure to drop a great album and he did just that. This album was released the year I graduated High School and it dominated the whole summer here in Chicago. Every car that drove past was playing this album, every boom box was playing this album. The production handled by Sir Jinx and The Bomb Squad was top notch and Cube was at his lyrical best. This album was urgent, intelligent, ignorant, funny, original and most of all great. Almost 30 years later I still play it quite often. When people review classic albums what needs to be considered is, if you can’t remember what you were going through or doing and what was going on in the world, you probably shouldn’t review it, especially rap music. R&B is different because 98% of it is about love of some sort or dancing. Rap is different, A lot of the time you had to live it to get. This is one of the top three or four debut solo albums of all time to me.

Feefo can't be from the Chi. No way. Even at a young age the music was there and was played by everybody. And if you're from the midwest you heard music from everywhere.
1990.....Hell of a year for hip hop.I wasnt born yet when This and Public enemy fear of a black planet came out but later that year. The 1990s was dope there was alot of illness that came out of that era. The "Nineties" January 1 1990 - december 31 1999. There was a decline in quality as we got to the latter part of the 1990s era but thats just me.I didnt like the late late 1990s i moved onto video games round that time cause the 2000s was the SHIT for gaming. Countless classic games from the 2000s. 2010s was TERRIBLE for all media
Don't even give him that excuse. This album is from my era, and it's one of my all time favorites, but I love and respect tons of music that was made before my time. Great albums span generations and live forever. Nothing about AMW sounds dated or "dusty" as he claims in my opinion. This cat just has questionable taste. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but it's a FACT that this is a perfect album. Props to The Bomb Squad and Sir Jinx!
@@moussegarbonzo8352 First of all, it's your opinion that it's a perfect album, stop spouting it like it's a fact. Second of all, he's not obligated to like it. And thirdly, it sounds dated. Without knowing the date and listening to this album anyone with any musical knowledge know it has that late 80s early 90s hardcore hip hop sound. It is an amazing album though, dated only means it's overall sound is indicative of a certain era of music, it doesn't tell you anything about it's quality.
Anže Kokalj I’ll “spout” whatever the fuck I feel like. When I stated it’s a fact it’s a perfect album I meant it somewhat playfully. I understand everybody has and are entitled to their own opinions. It’s a perfect album in my opinion. I am around a lot of people who are considerably younger than me and I know that many of them have zero knowledge of music that came before their time. It doesn’t make them bad people, but I do feel a bit sorry for them. I grew up in a family that constantly had music on, and maybe I’m lucky that I got to experience the sounds of my parents and aunts and uncles, but I feel like that wasn’t a unique situation to people of my generation. I was in high school in the early 90’s and most of my friends were hip to Marvin Gaye, The Beatles, Hendrix, etc. We listened to music from our era too of course, but we recognized the brilliance of a lot that came before us. I’m not trying to dis the younger generation here. They have a lot to offer, but I feel like the Internet kind of kept the kids, and mommy and daddy in their own little worlds with headphones on, and they didn’t have the exposure to a lot of stuff they would have had the stereo been a regular part of their household. Eh, what the fuck do I know.

The bomb squad's sophisticated production with a gangsta twist was bananas and meshed so beautifully with cube it was crazy !!! The only other album out at that time that could compete with it was Fear of a black planet.
Damn, why Myke? lmao
@@cinematic7928 This album is a classic to me and it came out two years before I was even born. Age should not be an excuse. Feefo only enjoys hip POP not dope hip hop
Feefo STOP
Damn Feefo...this is a classic that you are calling "dusty".
U never heard this album and u supposed to Dehh lol
You have to develop an historical context for reviewing older albums.
Dude whack...
U don't understand it's a classic because it's not ur era
@@anzekokalj1374 "It's Sounds Dated" hahaha it's from 30 years ago lol.
Yeah, I’m 26, but I understand the impact this album had. I used to bump this shit when I was in high school and still do now.
