    How can you live with yourself ? This whole video should be titled "how to force a primate to live when it would rather die" . the only thing those "babies" need and want is their mothers.

    To keep a baby marmoset secure and warm and properly fed, wouldn't it be better to leave him with his mum?

      Allison Jenkins tell us, how do the breeders have all these babies if the moms are dead? Your post is ridiculous and 100% bullshit because you want to make yourself feel better about stealing a baby monkey by convincing yourself the mother is dead and that you're "rescuing" the baby. Sorry, that's bullshit.The mothers live their entire lives in cages and pump out new babies every gestation cycle so the breeders can sell them. That is *fact.* It really does not take much to do basic research about the baby monkey "pet" trade and learn what happens...you should do your research before posting BS.

      Cindy Blevins Breeding moms actually become quite used to relinquishing their babies..to the point where they willingly hand them over.

      Are you attempting to suggest that eventually they don't care any longer, or, are you subtly suggesting that the breeding female has developed a serious mental illness due to having her babies stolen from her over and over? She has a bad case of learned helplessness and is probably pretty neurotic. So, if you are suggesting the mothers don't want their babies, you are wrong.

    Heating pads can be dangerous. Especially with infant monkeys as they can chew through it when they get teeth but also because they should never be used without constant supervision. I'm pretty sure that's on the warning label. Any time you use one. It's recommend that you use a hot water bottle. Yes, they cool down but I doubt before the marmoset would need another feeding. I'm surprised that you, someone portraying a professional when clearly there's a few things you don't know. I recommend you update this video immediately.

    • @mistymitchell7280
      @mistymitchell7280 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You do know not all heating pads are electric right? Like they don’t plug in to the wall to work.. kind of like hand warmers. Not to mention they actually make them for animals and are just as safe as water bottles

      @@ElizabethBuddySafariBobs no...but, an adopted animal means there's no other resort and you have a primate that cannot be rehabbed and back out to the wild. I would guess after enough time...these little guys get more and more tame. Marmosets and capuchin...i know there are selective breeders who try to breed the most docile of monkeys. Still; you can take them out of the wild but you cannot take the wild out of them. :) owners need to know they will get bit! Ugh advice: why not play a foraging game? People don't engage them enough i don't think.

      SimsLover1989 This has nothing to do with preventing an endangered species from dying out. These people are breeding these animals for profit. They are not a sanctuary because sanctuaries do not breed and sell animals. I can't believe how naive so many people are about this. Depressing.

    I imagine the rescues are from impulsive decisions to get a monkey then realizing that it takes too much time, effort, money, or caring. Or perhaps it’s close to death from improper care, and the owner thankfully surrenders them. Just my thoughts, since all the monkeys in the US are bred, with a rare few being smuggled in. I have not researched those numbers, however.

    Heating lights are extremely dangerous, they are a fire hazard and should never be left on unattended or constantly unless they are so cool you can touch it steadily with your fingertips without burning you. Some bulb heaters are completely unsuitable and can actually cause extreme fluctuations in temperature resulting in chills.

    I hope you will start to teach new baby monkey owners how to learn to see the world from their monkey's vantage point. While this is so important, it is almost never done. For example, explain how the noise of loud things that we might not think about such as bangle bracelets, can scare them when being held, or as we are reaching into their enclosures. Or when suddenly wearing an unfamiliar watch one day, especially a big shiny or prominently designed one, can take them aback, or cause them to be reluctant to walk out onto your hand when they were fine about doing it before. Also, that "getting in their face" and smilng broadly will equate to baring your teeth to them, as they as babies don't naturally relate to smiling as a friendly monkey gesture. In time they will associate that behavior to the corresponding mood and actions that accompny it in people, but not initially. And if someone isn't aware that they are doing it, puffing your breath in their faces while talking enthusiastically or laughing can be distressing to them. Some people use it successfully as a deliberate alternative means of disciple against biting, and as a substitution for the unkind practice of ear pinching and twisting that you will still see people do upon occasion today. I can show you a video where I spotted it being done. Also heating pads for any sleeping baby (with baby pets included), are always potentially dangerous, not only by risk of burning skin but by burning bedding, and you should never urge people to them without an appropriate type of thermostat that will independently measure the warmest area usually under the pad and switch the pad off and on again at intervals to regulate the heat actually being produced and given the room's present temperature... and don't rely upon lit switches that indicate " lo, med, hi" or "1, 2, 3 - 10" to control temperature since heat builds over time and it will not adjust to reduce heat once it has accumulated ), never fold up a pad and follow all of its directions. And in the case of those using radiant heating, a safety device using a thermostat/rheostat, (often found made for reptile owners) senses temperature and will dim and brighten the radiant source to regulate its output of heat. But be sure to use the correct one of the two types expained above. But in any event, use an objective measure of heat in the bed or living enclosure, that is, a thermometer or sensor with a temperature display (but avoid those color changing strips). We must use a display of actual temperature because our sense of what is warm and comfy can be subject to great variation, plus what is too hot to a baby who in in that space continually may seem cozy to us upon just one moment's touch. Also, never coach someone to use supplemental heat without providing a cool end of the enclosure where the animal can move if they feel too hot, while advising people that animals won't always make use of it when needed and then they can become overheated. So ultimately we have to frequently check the animals themselves who are using supplemental heat for signs of their body's temperature and condition, in addition to using the safety measures above. I know this woman in the video means well, but you just can't give as many incomplete explanations as she is being inclined to give about animal care, especially here, where you are going to be addressing first time owners of little understood animals and animal care practices.

    I tell you something about owning a monkey as a pet, I don't like that idea of getting a monkey for a pet and dressing it up as a baby I seen one that they train him to walk like a human being they taking these monkeys and try turning them into something else, they are cute but they are wild animals, they shouldn't be trained to walk upright that's not their nature they shouldn't be trained to eat with a knife and fork, and after all that training you put them in a cage so what do that tell you 🤔😏 I really hope they are not taking these babies from their mothers I agree with so many others in their comments about they're not pets, I just seen in China they are eaten or pets, and in some of the countries eat monkeys, if you want a small pet that bad I suggest get the smallest dog or the smallest cat and be happy 😄😄😄😄😄

  • @elizabethgaspodnetich9676

    The very best way of caring for a baby monkey is to let it stay with it's mother monkey where it belongs. How do you sleep at night after you tear this little baby away from it's mother and the trauma it causes them has to be horrible. If you people want pets then go to your local shelter and pick up and unloved DOG OR CAT that needs a good home. Leave monkeys in the wild where they belong.

    • @GozerTheGozerian

      Kat STOP SPREADING YOUR IGNORANT BULLSHIT. It takes thousands of years to domesticate animals, and you have no idea what you're talking about, these monkeys are taken from their mothers immediately after birth. If they were allowed to stay with their mothers "for a good amount of time for the baby and mother's sanity and health" then they would never be separated. Have you ever seen humans taking a monkey baby from its mother? Have you? Because it's one of the most brutal, fucked up things you can witness.
      Go to the Arroz Marisco channel and watch the videos about Bossy, a wild rhesus macaque matriarch -- she lost her baby daughter 6 months ago and she's still grieving, as you can plainly see in the videos. Educate yourself. You are spreading BS because you want to justify keeping a baby monkey as a pet. And it is profoundly wrong.

    I have read a lot of opinion in the comments. We can each have our opinion but to claim our opinion is the only way and anyone not with our opinion is horrible, or whatever other names are being used to refer to people, makes the one spewing their opinion as expertise just as inane as those they point their finger at.

      They don't think is cruel because it makes money. Even though enslaving is unconstitutional it is still going on. Permanent change can happen through education and evolution. People have to help people learn about sharing and love. Love will conquer evil. No law ever did nor ever will.

      plan1380 people make money off selling wild animals all the time cause dogs and cats were wild animals before and then they were sold and they still are today

    • @GozerTheGozerian
      @GozerTheGozerian 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Phandom girl - Wrong. Cats and dogs are *domesticated* *animals.* You cannot domesticate a wild animal by making it a "pet." It takes *thousands* of years to domesticate a species, and it only happens when there's a benefit to domesticating them. Dogs helped humans on the hunt and helped guard human camps, and in exchange the dogs got a regular source of quality food, security, and warmth. Cats helped humans by hunting rodents and other vermin who tried to eat human grain stores, and in return cats got a regular food source and protection from humans.
      Dogs have been domesticated for 30,000 years. Cats have been domesticated for 10,000 years. Monkeys cannot be domesticated. They're too social and intelligent, and they offer no tangible benefit to humans.
      Keeping monkeys are pets causes monkeys to go insane and causes them a great amount of suffering. It's wrong.

    • @chikaefobi3059
      @chikaefobi3059 8 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Actually, no. Baby monkeys in the wild are latched onto their mothers who are swinging and jumping from tree to tree.

    • @KatLikeKZ

    • @m.e.c.1007
      @m.e.c.1007 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Actually the more they are moved around the better. They would be hanging off their mom who is twitching and jumping around on trees. If they don't get the movement they suffer mentally. I laugh when people treat them like they are made of glass. Watch how a mother monkey moves and treats the baby. The best monkey owner tries to mimic the mom as best they can. That's when you get a happy healthy monkey!

    Get over yourselves. There was a time when dogs and cats were wild too but I bet some of you own a few. These New World monkeys are loosing their natural habitat due to the large amount of lumber being harvested. The next time you print a picture or post a flyer about animals please take a minute to realize that your paper products helped to rob these animals of their natural homes. On a side note, it is still illegal to trap and sell wild animals. The animals in this country were born in this country and the breeding stock is quite often the adults 'pets' that irresponsible people didn't want anymore. IMO, the greatest crime is in having a pet that you toss away once you realize that there is a lot of time and responsibility required to keep the pet healthy. If these folks did not support the adults by selling the offspring then the adults would have been put down because their original owners lacked the responsibility to learn about what they were getting into beforehand.

      kymberlyn3 "the breeding stock is quite often the adults 'pets' that irresponsible people didn't want anymore." Hello? Please finish the thought. Why breed more "cute baby monkeys" for irresponsible people to adopt and then dump? Continuing the cycle endlessly...

      +Susan DA , you are exactly right on this not being a popularity contest. However, I would love to know what credentials you have that makes you able to tell someone they should not have a monkey for a pet. Seems to me that all of the people that yell "that monkey should be back in the wild" lack the necessary credentials to even open their mouth about something they know nothing about. Therefore, all your points are null and void, every single one of them.
