Blackbeards bounty increase may have had something to do with Koby being kidnapped, powering up his commanders with Devil Fruits taken from others, recruiting Kuzan, or maybe there is some other event we don't know of yet that relates to why Blackbeard was on Winner Island with Law besides just getting the Poneglyphs.

I like the idea of Luffy's bounty (and maybe some other straw hats too) shifting to "Only Dead". It would be an effective way to show an increase in the world government's pursuit of Luffy without changing the bounty, though they could change the bounty alongside as well.

Didn't Blackbeard attack Amazon Lily and kidnap Koby during the Wano arc? I always kind of figured that was what caused his bounty to increase, albeit it is quite a large increase for something like that. I can't remember for sure now, was the whole thing with Garp taking place in a flashback simultaneously with Wano, or was Garp's rescue mission happening concurrently with Egghead? With all the jumping around that was going on in the story at that time, I can't fully remember. But if that was during Wano, then that would probably reason enough to double his bounty.
I personally think there will be an increase for Luffy, and possibly Blackbeard considering they are the two who have knowledge on the five elders right now. If that is the case, then Sabo might also be included in the bounty increase

Akainu, Kong, Sengoku, and Shanks also might be able to notice Saturn not acting like Saturn due to previous interactions. Especially Akainu who likely hates them already, and would be looking for a way to hurt them in the name of absolute justice if an opportunity arose.

Like I said Akainu is likely looking for a fight so he likely is watching everyone for his sense of justice. Sengoku has interacted with them enough to know if they're being weird even in small passing conversations. And we don't know much about Kong, but I'd be shocked if he didn't deal with them enough to know their personalities some too. Even just a "go away" or "leave" might be enough to know its not Saturn if he appears in a place the Gorosei never go and doesn't ask for an update or give commands to one of those top level Marines. Also be shocked if Saturn didn't warn some of those people Catarina has the 9 tails fruit so she can imitate anyone and she touched Saturn which he was furious about. Shanks has some incredibly powerful Haki, I would guess he can knock out Catarina Devon but not Saturn with it. And we don't know how much he interacted with the Gorosei before, but it is possible he has met them numerous times besides the one meeting we saw.
It doesn't matter if the bounties go higher or lower to attract bountyhunters... We have yet to see the first bountyhunter who goes after the strawhats 😂😂
16:15 one thing to note is that Blackbeard post egghead would also get a bounty increase as him and his crew have been making CRAZY MOVES during this arc. Between raiding Amazon Lily, intercepting and engaging Law at Winner Island, Invading WCI, Katarina Devon engaging Saturn at Egghead, and taking down Garp. Also I do feel the rest of the straw hats warrant a bounty increase as while yes Luffy is the one doing the most damage, they are still willing accomplices to the madness and mayhem as well as guilty of assisting Vegapunk, who has been branded a criminal, in his attempt to leave Egghead. Also that irate leopard is a top Cipher Pol agent.
I think there might be an increase for Luffy and Blackbeard. Luffy has crossed fists with the elders, an admiral and survived without any big issues. And Blackbeard is probably doing his usual Blackbeard stuff, which at this point is surely not going to go unnoticed by the world government.
One of the things I worry about is the rest of the crew not getting more development as we go or more instances of sudden development like Robin using Demonio Fleur in a fight once but us not exploring it further. I do hope Oda gives up time for more of that as we go.
One thing that could make a higher bounty feasible is waving off the rule to exclude other pirates from collecting it, so we could get a good reason to have Cross Guild and possibly Blackbeard after the Straw Hats
I think Catarina Devon took Saturns for so that she can control S-Gecko when they capture him and use him to create a zombie army since Moria wouldn't cooperate and got freed by Coby.
think about when luffy said if he picks the wrong route, he'll just keep trying till he gets it right. that alone could potentially extend the story if oda wasnt actively trying to wrap it up. think about how long roger sailed the grand line

Honestly because of Zoro's current bounty having 11/11 in it already, we might not see an increase on the crew member's bounties anymore. It might be that only Luffy will get bounty increases.
The only reason to increase crew member bounties is to draw out the captain, like when ace was captured and the marines were able to draw out whitebeard’s crew
Blackbeard does a good job at keeping his bounty lower than should be - shanks bounty kinda seems artifical given his ties to the elders - luffy having a high bounty just gives more traction to his impact on the world.
I think that raising/adding bounties on Strawhat allies/friends makes sense in world. Franky House, Nami's sister etc. being targets of the government puts Luffy in a worse position and shows the increase in threat from the Strawhats.

My absolute favorite thing about Bounty's in one piece is that they are incredibly popular. Everyone loves them but they are pointless in many ways. They do not reflect strength outright they do not directly dictate anything. The other major aspect of them being useless is that we have never seen a significant bounty turned in during the story. The concept of the bounty hunter is there but nothing is ever put there by oda and its a masterpiece. His own ridiculous number scaling that everyone loves but hes constantly trolling because they are empty numbers.
I could possibly see it happen that Luffy's Bounty increases because of the events on egghead, but that we won't hear about it right away because they escape to Elbaf and might not get any updates on the news right away If Elbaf then has some events happen as well, it could "fit the timing/pacing" of the bounty increases a bit more from the reader's PoV when they hear about it afterwards.
Honestly, I feel like the bounties are more of a navy thing than an elders thing, so now that he's actually started fighting the elders (who like staying in the shadows and keeping things calm) I think they might change things up. Increasing it would be somewhat meaningless and lowering it would be unsatisfying, but removing it and spreading rumors about him and his death instead would both lower his influence in the world and give us a shock as readers. I do think it would be a loss to miss the increase to 5,656,000 though.
We have sadly to see almost any bounty hunters in the series as a threat. Additionally, I think what sets Luffy aside from the rest of the supernovas is his crew. Strawhats without Luffy are much more capable than Kid's or Law's.
I actually think the member of the crew most likely to gain a higher bounty other than Luffy is Sanji. Zorro and Sanji have had their bounties higher or lower than each others for the past few arcs as a bit, and this would continue that. He would have made an impression against Kizaru in their fight so it seems more plausible than a Zorro bounty raise.
I think the only dead works but they've got to get that number higher because the whole crew just went to an island where info on the void century is and allied with the evil king loki . This is probably the most dangerous anyone has ever been .
The bounty system is almost becoming the power level in early dragon ball. Almost. Because differently from power levels, the bounties actually have more reasons to exist besides being a power measurement
I thinking it will be one of two things. Either they change Luffys bounty to only dead, or they announce a permanent buster call on Luffy. My reasoning is they'll try a prevent him from gathering more allies by effectively threatening to wipe out any island that lets the straw hats land.

I think the MOST accurate prediction is that Luffy's final bounty will be that 5.656 billion you stated. Aside from that, I assume AFTER ELBAF Zoro will probably sit at like 3.5b, Sanji at 3.3, Jinbe at 3.4, the rest of the strawhats in the 0.5-2b range, Robin is a toss up at 2-5b strictly because of the Poneglyphs, and Luffy will sit at 4.2 BEFORE being reunited with Shanks so he can be proud. The only other toss up might be Luffy getting his new bounty but NOT being reunited with Shanks because Blackbeard will kill him just as soon as Luffy gets the news. Oh and Chopper might raise to like 1100.
Maybe not luffy but one of the vegapunks if any of them survive would certainly get a bounty, especially after the video. I can also see luffy's poster changing from "dead or alive" to "dead". This might be a misconception on my part but I thought that, generally, if you kill the criminal, then you get less money than if you brought them in alive because a justice system would like to try and punish a criminal when possible.
I’ve been thinking that since the Gorosei now know that people are recognizing Luffy as Nika, most notably the giants, there is no doubt that he is their highest priority. I can see Luffy getting a only dead bounty, but the reward would just say “negotiable” since something open ended and vague would leave it up to the imagination of whoever gets him without the WG having to commit to anything after the fact.
Maybe the bounty gets so high that it starts to entice people that aren't bounty hunters. Like random people with T-bone or even like a king or a nation. It would be enough money revive a whole island
When it comes to the bounty hunters you’re thinking too small. It’s any ridiculously high bounty is going to be way to strong for any one bounty hunter to go after. So instead they’d need to team up which means they’d have to split the rewards. So a larger bounty would incentivize a larger group of bounty hunters to go after them
Luffy was the main reason kaido and big mom were taken down, but the world government didn't wasn't to give him much credit and split his bounty between kid and trafalgar. So his bounty should have been at the 4.5b range to begin with, so it being upped to around there would make sense.
Fighting the seraphim is a pretty good case for the crew getting an increase. Also Sanji & Franky standing up to Saturn & Kizaru. Plus more might fight the 5 elders. Another reason Luffy’s bounty might get an increase is if it becomes known he has control of ancient weapons.
I like the idea of Luffy getting his 5.6B bounty before the end of the story but at the last scene the "new" marines finally realizing that all pirates aren't bad and actually setting his bounty to zero, striking it entirely because Luffy is not someone that needs to be captured anymore. His old bounty poster goes on into legend while Luffy and his crew are able to sail the world truly free as unwanted individuals.

Also he ate the hito hito no mi model nika, but again, we didnt know until gear 5. So my question: how are they related? Can only someone with the nika-fruit become joyboy? Can only the reincarnation of joyboy awaken nika? Would luffy be joyboy even if he ate another fruit like the mera mera no mi? I like the idea of Luffy's bounty (and maybe some other straw hats too) shifting to "Only Dead". It would be an effective way to show an increase in the world government's pursuit of Luffy without changing the bounty, though they could change the bounty alongside as well.

Didn't Blackbeard attack Amazon Lily and kidnap Koby during the Wano arc? I always kind of figured that was what caused his bounty to increase, albeit it is quite a large increase for something like that.
I can't remember for sure now, was the whole thing with Garp taking place in a flashback simultaneously with Wano, or was Garp's rescue mission happening concurrently with Egghead? With all the jumping around that was going on in the story at that time, I can't fully remember. But if that was during Wano, then that would probably reason enough to double his bounty.
I personally think there will be an increase for Luffy, and possibly Blackbeard considering they are the two who have knowledge on the five elders right now. If that is the case, then Sabo might also be included in the bounty increase

Put a bounty on Luffy's hat, so he gets targeted more but not in actual fights and that motivates normal people to act. Just like that one admiral that got sold over by a civilian
idk I personally definitely think the whole crew deserves at least a bit of a bounty increase just for seeing the gorosei in their "demon" forms, like they killed all the navy soldiers that just even saw them, surely that has gotta somewhat apply to people outside the world government as well

Akainu, Kong, Sengoku, and Shanks also might be able to notice Saturn not acting like Saturn due to previous interactions. Especially Akainu who likely hates them already, and would be looking for a way to hurt them in the name of absolute justice if an opportunity arose.

Like I said Akainu is likely looking for a fight so he likely is watching everyone for his sense of justice. Sengoku has interacted with them enough to know if they're being weird even in small passing conversations. And we don't know much about Kong, but I'd be shocked if he didn't deal with them enough to know their personalities some too. Even just a "go away" or "leave" might be enough to know its not Saturn if he appears in a place the Gorosei never go and doesn't ask for an update or give commands to one of those top level Marines. Also be shocked if Saturn didn't warn some of those people Catarina has the 9 tails fruit so she can imitate anyone and she touched Saturn which he was furious about. Shanks has some incredibly powerful Haki, I would guess he can knock out Catarina Devon but not Saturn with it. And we don't know how much he interacted with the Gorosei before, but it is possible he has met them numerous times besides the one meeting we saw.

16:15 one thing to note is that Blackbeard post egghead would also get a bounty increase as him and his crew have been making CRAZY MOVES during this arc. Between raiding Amazon Lily, intercepting and engaging Law at Winner Island, Invading WCI, Katarina Devon engaging Saturn at Egghead, and taking down Garp.
Also I do feel the rest of the straw hats warrant a bounty increase as while yes Luffy is the one doing the most damage, they are still willing accomplices to the madness and mayhem as well as guilty of assisting Vegapunk, who has been branded a criminal, in his attempt to leave Egghead. Also that irate leopard is a top Cipher Pol agent.

I think there might be an increase for Luffy and Blackbeard. Luffy has crossed fists with the elders, an admiral and survived without any big issues. And Blackbeard is probably doing his usual Blackbeard stuff, which at this point is surely not going to go unnoticed by the world government.
One of the things I worry about is the rest of the crew not getting more development as we go or more instances of sudden development like Robin using Demonio Fleur in a fight once but us not exploring it further. I do hope Oda gives up time for more of that as we go.
One thing that could make a higher bounty feasible is waving off the rule to exclude other pirates from collecting it, so we could get a good reason to have Cross Guild and possibly Blackbeard after the Straw Hats
I think Catarina Devon took Saturns for so that she can control S-Gecko when they capture him and use him to create a zombie army since Moria wouldn't cooperate and got freed by Coby.
think about when luffy said if he picks the wrong route, he'll just keep trying till he gets it right. that alone could potentially extend the story if oda wasnt actively trying to wrap it up. think about how long roger sailed the grand line
I think it would be interesting if instead of getting money for killing Luffy, you get to become a world noble as now it's insentive for absolutely everyone
Honestly because of Zoro's current bounty having 11/11 in it already, we might not see an increase on the crew member's bounties anymore. It might be that only Luffy will get bounty increases.
The only reason to increase crew member bounties is to draw out the captain, like when ace was captured and the marines were able to draw out whitebeard’s crew
Blackbeard does a good job at keeping his bounty lower than should be - shanks bounty kinda seems artifical given his ties to the elders - luffy having a high bounty just gives more traction to his impact on the world.
Just take a min to appreciate Oda ability to make every TH-camr wrong with every release.

I think that raising/adding bounties on Strawhat allies/friends makes sense in world. Franky House, Nami's sister etc. being targets of the government puts Luffy in a worse position and shows the increase in threat from the Strawhats.

My absolute favorite thing about Bounty's in one piece is that they are incredibly popular. Everyone loves them but they are pointless in many ways. They do not reflect strength outright they do not directly dictate anything. The other major aspect of them being useless is that we have never seen a significant bounty turned in during the story. The concept of the bounty hunter is there but nothing is ever put there by oda and its a masterpiece. His own ridiculous number scaling that everyone loves but hes constantly trolling because they are empty numbers.
I could possibly see it happen that Luffy's Bounty increases because of the events on egghead, but that we won't hear about it right away because they escape to Elbaf and might not get any updates on the news right away
If Elbaf then has some events happen as well, it could "fit the timing/pacing" of the bounty increases a bit more from the reader's PoV when they hear about it afterwards.

Honestly, I feel like the bounties are more of a navy thing than an elders thing, so now that he's actually started fighting the elders (who like staying in the shadows and keeping things calm) I think they might change things up. Increasing it would be somewhat meaningless and lowering it would be unsatisfying, but removing it and spreading rumors about him and his death instead would both lower his influence in the world and give us a shock as readers. I do think it would be a loss to miss the increase to 5,656,000 though.
We have sadly to see almost any bounty hunters in the series as a threat. Additionally, I think what sets Luffy aside from the rest of the supernovas is his crew. Strawhats without Luffy are much more capable than Kid's or Law's.
I actually think the member of the crew most likely to gain a higher bounty other than Luffy is Sanji. Zorro and Sanji have had their bounties higher or lower than each others for the past few arcs as a bit, and this would continue that. He would have made an impression against Kizaru in their fight so it seems more plausible than a Zorro bounty raise.
I think the only dead works but they've got to get that number higher because the whole crew just went to an island where info on the void century is and allied with the evil king loki . This is probably the most dangerous anyone has ever been .

The bounty system is almost becoming the power level in early dragon ball. Almost.
Because differently from power levels, the bounties actually have more reasons to exist besides being a power measurement
I thinking it will be one of two things. Either they change Luffys bounty to only dead, or they announce a permanent buster call on Luffy. My reasoning is they'll try a prevent him from gathering more allies by effectively threatening to wipe out any island that lets the straw hats land.

I think the MOST accurate prediction is that Luffy's final bounty will be that 5.656 billion you stated. Aside from that, I assume AFTER ELBAF Zoro will probably sit at like 3.5b, Sanji at 3.3, Jinbe at 3.4, the rest of the strawhats in the 0.5-2b range, Robin is a toss up at 2-5b strictly because of the Poneglyphs, and Luffy will sit at 4.2 BEFORE being reunited with Shanks so he can be proud. The only other toss up might be Luffy getting his new bounty but NOT being reunited with Shanks because Blackbeard will kill him just as soon as Luffy gets the news. Oh and Chopper might raise to like 1100.

Maybe not luffy but one of the vegapunks if any of them survive would certainly get a bounty, especially after the video. I can also see luffy's poster changing from "dead or alive" to "dead". This might be a misconception on my part but I thought that, generally, if you kill the criminal, then you get less money than if you brought them in alive because a justice system would like to try and punish a criminal when possible.
I’ve been thinking that since the Gorosei now know that people are recognizing Luffy as Nika, most notably the giants, there is no doubt that he is their highest priority. I can see Luffy getting a only dead bounty, but the reward would just say “negotiable” since something open ended and vague would leave it up to the imagination of whoever gets him without the WG having to commit to anything after the fact.
Maybe the bounty gets so high that it starts to entice people that aren't bounty hunters. Like random people with T-bone or even like a king or a nation. It would be enough money revive a whole island
Luffy's bounty has increased without the other Straw Hats' going up. His alone going up isn't unprecedented.
When it comes to the bounty hunters you’re thinking too small. It’s any ridiculously high bounty is going to be way to strong for any one bounty hunter to go after. So instead they’d need to team up which means they’d have to split the rewards. So a larger bounty would incentivize a larger group of bounty hunters to go after them
They could “ raise his bounty ‘ by allowing fellow pirates to turn him in with full immunity and give them a new title or immunity
Luffy was the main reason kaido and big mom were taken down, but the world government didn't wasn't to give him much credit and split his bounty between kid and trafalgar. So his bounty should have been at the 4.5b range to begin with, so it being upped to around there would make sense.
Fighting the seraphim is a pretty good case for the crew getting an increase. Also Sanji & Franky standing up to Saturn & Kizaru.
Plus more might fight the 5 elders.
Another reason Luffy’s bounty might get an increase is if it becomes known he has control of ancient weapons.
Marines can also receive the money after capturing the bounty. The guy that was allowed to capture Kaido all those times must be VERY rich
I like the idea of Luffy getting his 5.6B bounty before the end of the story but at the last scene the "new" marines finally realizing that all pirates aren't bad and actually setting his bounty to zero, striking it entirely because Luffy is not someone that needs to be captured anymore. His old bounty poster goes on into legend while Luffy and his crew are able to sail the world truly free as unwanted individuals.
I think bounties will not matter after Vegapunk's reveal at Egghead. The world will be in chaos. The race to One Piece will hasten

I'd like to think the World Government would rather deny Luffy the satisfaction of giving him a Gomu Gomu bounty but then again, they could maybe want to shift the focus from the Nika devil fruit back to the Gomu devil fruit.
Even though it would make all the sense in the world for Luffy's bounty to skyrocket past everyone after all the things coming ahead on Egghead and increasingly less so for that to not happen at this rate, somehow I don't see him actually surpassing Roger's bounty, before he has officially become the new pirate king.

Luffy inherited the will of joyboy and is thus the reincarnation of joy boy, but we didn't know for sure until gear 5.
Also he ate the hito hito no mi model nika, but again, we didnt know until gear 5.
So my question: how are they related? Can only someone with the nika-fruit become joyboy? Can only the reincarnation of joyboy awaken nika? Would luffy be joyboy even if he ate another fruit like the mera mera no mi?
And if it needs the combination of joyboy and the gomu gomu no mi to awaken nika, would it be possible that there were other reincarnations of joyboy in history who didn't eat the nika-fruit and thus never established as a thread/god/person?
