      tusi 74 you should either RMA it or find the problem. I’ve had the v2 and v3 pedals and not a single peep. They are whisper quiet. It’s not the design

    Too bad you're not into flight simming. With your access to gear, you could build a pretty awesome flight sim rig.

    • @Jayztwocents
      @Jayztwocents  8 ปีที่แล้ว +82

      I used to be WAY in to Flight Sim. Very sad that MS dropped the program

    • @totoritko
      @totoritko 8 ปีที่แล้ว +32

      ***** Well then good news, look up X-Plane and Prepar3D. Prepar3D is basically a continuation of the FSX core, whereas X-Plane is a completely different platform. Both are actively being developed.
      I fly X-Plane and provided you've got good flight controls, feels very close to real (speaking as a real-world private pilot here) - about as close as you can get without a motion platform.

      @Jayztwocents  8 ปีที่แล้ว +53

      ***** In short, when it comes to flight simming, the pastures have never been greener and we're positively spoiled for choice. If you're interested, I can help you get "back in the game" so to speak :) And we can do some shared cockpit flights online with other people and real air traffic controllers (yes, that's a thing, people simulate real-world airspace and procedures).

    my problem with racing sims, is I learned to drive with my butt. So until I find a racing chair with 'realistic butt feeling' I feel there's something missing.

    • @coinsagE46m3
      @coinsagE46m3 8 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Building on the one reply you've got already, buttkickers are only part of the equation. There's a program called SimVibe that you use in conjunction with the buttkickers to send the correct signals in order to have the kickers fire accurate to what ever you're doing in game (ie your left front tire runs over the edge of the apex, you'll feel a bump on the left front corner of your rig). Seems that's what you could be looking for.

    • @SOfilmable
      @SOfilmable 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      When driving on a track, you are getting a lot of information that you need from your butt-o-meter. You can feel how much more your tires can go before they let go and stuff like that. People talk about their butts, but it's actually everything that your body is sensing while driving on a track. None of this comes into play much when driving on the street.

      Sim racing does take some adjusting due to the lack of actual g forces to let you know when youre pushing the limits.There is compensation built into the FFB and the best thing i find, is to run high volume on tyre noise, its a great indicator for when youre about to be going backwards!

    • @Ryukin631

    i'm tierd of hearing people saying. IT'S COOL BUT WITH THAT KIND OF MONEY YUU CAN BUY A CAR AND RACE IT ON THE RACETRACK. shut up, people that buy this kind of high end stuff probably have a very cool car, so they don't need a crappy 1500$ car, this setup is for having same realxed fun for an hour or more at home. try to came home after work, take the car, go to the track, race it many days of the week. you will end up dead, or broke and very tierd. this is to have same fun being confortable at home....and Jay.... are you unintentionally trying very hard to make us very jealous? you have a nice job, beautiful house, probably a beautiful wife, smart children, cool car, awsome car, badass pc and so on. you are a very very lucky man. wish you even more succes in evertithing

      ^ Someone who actually understands the attractiveness of sim racing.... Doesn't seem that many people do. It's all about the flexibility of it, and being able to do it on a whim. Which you can't do with a real car unless you're like literally carjesus.

      @codysoper6 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I haven't spent that much on sim gear, I have spent more than I bought my car for tho. but living in Alaska, I'd probably rather spend $70k on a sim than an actual car as I could use it year round(assuming my transportation still has heat and winter tires ;p)

    Glad you contacted Fanatec, your channel just gained a new love interest. I've had Fanatec products for years now and absolutely love it, will never go back to a thrustmaster or logitech wheel. Hey the universal hub can have 5 button boxes attached giving you 22 buttons to map in game eliminating the need for additional button box. with the no Xbox hub you get 20 button to map on PS4.

    I learned how to power drift with the help of sim racing wheels. I learned to feel the different grip changes so I could apply the perception in real cars. I felt confident to try after the learning process. I live in Michigan and I drive a 300 lb-ft rear wheel drive car in the snow every winter now. I love when it rains or snow

    I went from a g25 to a mid range Fanatec set-up a few years ago.My old g25 served me well with only one button on wheel failing (was my ptt) after many thousands of hours of driving over many years but the fanatec kit is on another level, even the lower end stuff! FFB is stupidly good in asseto corsa and it has be reliable so far.

      It wouldn't really be that difficult, but the problem is there is no support for that kind of effect in the Force Feedback protocols. So nobody is going to invest money into developing the system - since it'd have to be a completely custom system, which means every game or sim would need custom support for it, and every piece of hardware would also need custom support for it (and by custom support I mean drivers and other software).
      It's not hard, it's just that it doesn't fit into any existing standard, i.e. Force Feedback.

    While I think it's commendable that you're doing all you can to make the setup feel as real as possible you're making one huge mistake there. First I've been sim racing for years, have an extensive setup (detailed video on my tiny channel) and have been a Porsche and BMW certified track driving instructor for years. Okay, the mistake you're making - not wearing shoes. Do you drive your Nismo in socks? Other cars in socks? Nope. Wear shoes in your sim, if you have driving shoes or thin soled shoes wear those, big giant running shoes aren't great. Adding a pair of even decent driving shoes can make a HUGE difference in overall feel as again you don't drive cars in socks so don't drive your sim in socks! /rant :-)

    • @ross-carlson
      @ross-carlson 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Happy to share my quick thoughts - there are 3 use cases, sim only, sim+light track driving, sim+real racing. Assuming most everyone will fall into the first 2 categories you can get driving shoes from SafeRacer or Pegasus Auto for say $125/pair and you could likely just choose based on style as they are all pretty similar. You could also hit your local sporting goods store and get a pair of wrestling shoes - the key to a good driving shoe is they be very light with a very thin heel and thin sole. Again this assumes you don't need full fire protection which I'm guessing not. If you go SafeRacer or Pegasus just call them and make sure you can return the ones that don't fit or you don't like, that is very common. Again thin and light is best, heavy clunky cross-hiking shoes are about as bad as you could get!

    umm, you say that when you drive a car "you're using a hydralically assisted steering (setup)" this only really applies to older cars where hydraulic steering is used... most newer and more high end cars use electronic steering, so its actually more like using a racing wheel because the steering wheel physically isn't connected to the wheels on the ground

    great review. i have watched a few others on the same equipment but you pointed out a few things that others missed, like adding the damper to the gas (not just the brake) and being able to adjust the button position to fit around the wheel you are using. I ordered the pedals and shifter yesterday and, super excited to get them in my rig. i'm using a G920 on a DIY CXC Clone i built with Full motion seat. the logitec stuff was ok for a while but i'm ready to make that next leap :)

      But that's just the servo base, hub, steering wheel, pedals and shifter. You still need a cockpit to mount all that stuff in. The Fanatic cockpit is $1000 not including the $535 racing seat. That's a little over $3000 setup. Holy cow!!!

    Speaking from experience, the shifter is phenomonal. You failed to mention that the stiffness of changing into gears can be adjusted via an allen key at the bottom, and it has mounting points on all 5 sides, minus the top. The thing is super solid, and the one time I took it apart showed that there really is no plastic anywhere on it other than the PCB.
    The handbrake however, I suggest buying a cheap hydraulic and replacing the lever, I couldn't mount mine at an angle and as such the stock lever bent. It's also got that slightly cheap foam handle that seems like it'll disintegrate after time. The opening for the lever is easily big enough to add in a beefier lever and eliminate the problem. Otherwise it works very well, and if you want the HB to be stiffer you can replace the internal spring, though ones not included.

    Yuuuus! Welcome to Team Fanatec! It is good! If you need any suggestions on settings configurations for various games, I would be happy to provide input. The biggest thing is to turn off dampening and put spring force to a very low setting (or use drift mode 1). Also, I would buy the upgrade PU foam upgrade for the CSP v3 pedals. It is a worth while upgrade.
