Welcome back! The steering column should also telescope as well as tilt. I had a Volvo day cab for a little bit, and one thing I loved was when you pull the brake knobs it automatically puts the trans into neutral. I have a lot more seat time in many different Volvos they are my favorite trucks.
Do the volvo trucks in europe have a different stearing set up. I watch trucking shows from all over. The volvos on european trucks lift up and forward. When the driver sits down they pull the wheel to the driving position.
My day cab is a 2016 Volvo. I love it.. fun ass trucks to drive
@@charleshoward2685 yea the steering wheel is fully up u can tilt it down how you want my dad drives in a position where the stering wheel is in his lap also when its fully tilted down ur wrists aint hurting beacause steering wheel is perfectly vertical.{cant explain but if you look european trucking videos u can see what i mean}
One thing you probably didn’t know about these Volvos, there is a button on the right side of the driver seat down by the seat belt buckle that when you pick it turns on the lower back massage. You can see it right at 12:22

I left CFI after 6 months, came back home working a local gig, pays more, more hometime. Home everyday, two days off a week. Gotta unload the trailer myself but still.. more pay, more time off lol

Congrats on the new gig! I have driven Freightliners, Mack, and Volvo. Personally I like Volvo the best for comfort, visibility, turning radius, and so forth.
Congrats, Dave!! that mattress looks like a tempurpedic. I have never seen such a nice mattress in a truck! The straps on the upper bunk are cargo straps for securing stuff up there so stuff doesn't come flying down on you if you stop suddenly.
I’m a local tanker driver. I drive a day cab 2023 Volvo. And let me tel you. It’s like a damn Cadillac. I love it sooo much. Very spacey/relaxing and just a smooth ride. It pulls just fine too! I used to drive a mac and let me tell you. The Volvo is a wet dream everytime i drive it. The seats aren’t the best tho lol. Holy smokes what a difference.
Yeah. I switched companies recently; making 80cpm now and dedicated home weekly. I like the dedicated and regional routes a lot more than I did OTR!

My day cab is a 2016 Volvo and I love it. Our fleet is all Volvo from 2015 to 2024. I was just in one of our sleepers 2024. Fun trucks to drive. Enjoy man
I remember my first truck at CFI was your 1st truck and it still had 2 or 3 go pro mounts still stuck to it, and a purple memory foam mattress still in it. I got me a purple when I left cause it was actually really comfortable

Glad to see you back! Some Volvo models have it to where the bottom bunk can transform into a table sitting area with 2 seats, my dad had one of those and it was actually dope.

Edit to add: Not a bad looking truck. Sucks you dont have a fridge but you can grab a cooler or two (that can be plugged-in, like a micro-fridge thats the size of a cooler) to store stuff that needs to stay cool.
Also, in regards to the space behind the tv-mount, that could be a good spot to put a dvd/bluray player and/or a gaming-console. Just a thought.

I’m sure you’ve figured it out by now, but I don’t recall you mentioning it, but the latch to pop your hood on the Volvo’s are underneath the steering wheel. Good to see you’re back out here in the suck with the rest of us, I’ll have to remember the name of your company and keep an eye out for you.

After you got 2 yrs done & live in Michigan I know a good small company to drive for! Don't have to live in Michigan but they only have the 1 terminal. Lol.
I was a driver for a fedex contractor and I had the same gig home every weekend. Figured out that I hated driving trucks long distance and quit after a week and a half. Thank god I did too bc I found a really great job that I can use my CDL at and I get to watch planes take off all day so I can only say that was the best mistake I ever made.
I drove a volvo for a few years before I bought my own Kenworth and I hated it lol It's very comfy and roomy inside but I hated driving it

Dave you ever thought about getting into car haul? Company I work for delivers in all the states you listed. No force dispatch, you can be home any time you want! Every weekend off, in a hotel whenever you are gone during the week (usually 2 nights on the road). Free healthcare and you pick your routes. $1200-$2300 a week. $1200 is being gone maybe 1 night. $1900-$2300 is 2-3 nights gone.
