That's some unusual landing gear on that trailer you picked up -- apparently, you have to rotate the handle _CLOCKWISE,_ towards the rear, to lift it up, rather than CCW, towards the front, as usual. Someone even wrote an arrow on it saying "UP" in the CW direction (towards the back). I always remember which direction to rotate the handle, depending on the objective, by a little memory device I learned from @Kayla Taylor Trucking a few years ago: Kayla said if you're about to pull a trailer _forward_ (because you're hooking up), rotate the handle _forward;_ if you just _backed_ a trailer into a spot/dock (because you're dropping), rotate the handle towards the _back_ of the trailer.

damn. iv'e been to that dc a couple of times. not too much to say. they aren't bad. the couple times i've live unloaded were was that 2 hour mark. i call it the piss mark. because it pisses me off because after 2 hours you get detention but they get you done right before. anyways. it's cool to see you go to a place ive picked up and dropped off at.

been loving the content recently Dave, looking into getting a cdl permit and got some questions; 1 - how long did you take to get your permit? 2- how long was the Academy Training for your official Class-A license? Again loving the content, drive safe out there.
I’ll answer since Dave hasn’t gotten around too it. A permit you can usually get after studying for a few days. Take a few practice tests on the internet and once ur confident that the info stuck.. ur golden. As far as schooling goes which is mandatory now no exceptions! Learning a manual is not required nor do u get paid more for learning manual. However I can still learn it.. easier to just get the restriction and comeback to it later on and focus on one thing at a time. Trying to back and get comfortable in a semi while not stalling or rocking the truck is a lot. But school lasts 3 weeks to a month. They will tell you to NOT work while in school and most places won’t train u while ur actively working as school takes up the entire day 5 days a week. U cannot drive tired won’t allow it. As road training is apart of ur test and training.. you need 50hrs on the road before u can test!
@@IparanoiaZ thanks man, I've been studying the Permit practice tests online for the past couple of weeks, I've memorized all the questions from the Knowledge Test now working on memorizing both the Combination and Air Brakes test. Hoping to get a permit this month and potentially get finished with schooling for trucking by the end of the summer. But thanks for the information, I'll def use this when getting into trucking. :)
@@NavyOmen77 nice! Your on the right path man! You can do it! It ain’t hard the pre trip will seem like slot but just find a formula and stick with it! Same with backing find whatever works for you and stick with it! Good luck!
@@IparanoiaZ thanks, I plan on traveling between all 50 states from either ground or air by the time I reach 35 and working with the truck industry will def help me accomplish the ground sector. I'll post a update here in a couple of months or so depending on where I am with getting my license.
