One of the most talented players to wear the Arsenal shirt. I was so privileged to watch him home and away back then. Will always be a Arsenal legend great player.
In my opinion the best Irish player I have seen, had a great temperament and his professionalism shone throughout his career. Imagine him and Roy Keane in the middle.
Liam Brady announced his retirement from international football after he was substituted in a friendly game against west Germany in 1989. The testimonial game against Finland came later on in 1990 and was largely irrelevant.
Charlton’s substitution was cruel and totally unnecessary. The fans turned up to see HIM ,so to pull the rug from underneath him shows a total misunderstanding of what the testimonial was about.😢
I was at that testimonial vs FINLAND. A low key opposition. I don't think Jack treated it as a full international as he tried to put Liam back on for the last 10 minutes or so, but the referee correctly refused to allow a player who had already been substituted back on. I'm pretty sure such practices were commonplace in testimonial matches back in the day where rules such as those regarding substitutions were more informally enforced. Other testimonial matches tended to involve either international selections, such as for Frank Stapleton or club sides, such as for Packie Bonner.
this is just AI they have showed the Northern Ireland badge three times and obviously Brady being a proud Dublin wouldn’t be too happy about that. I’m gonna unsubscribe this is just bollocks
Bro at 3.03 you put up the Northern Ireland crest up hes no gorge best and again at 9.44 and Jack had style of playing and is was Liam's weakest point he had better ball winners and players who could play high tempo press
Brady was like David O'Leary. Really talented, but only showed up for Ireland when it suited them. When Jack arrived, limited as he was, he brought respect to the national team.
He RETIRED frim international football in 88, so why, just because he made himself 'available' should he be picked?.. this would have meant another deserving player NOT being picked, the team played fantastic, jack was 100 % correct, he was a good player...but, you cant decide to retire...then, when you fancy a trip to the world cup decide 'your available'.....well done mr charlton ..(athletic) ???
He did not retire in 1988 He retired in 1989 after the Germany game. Charlton was limited as a manager, his teams were set up to defend. His treatment of David O Leary was deplorable. His treatment of Liam Brady was deplorable. His tactics against Egypt in WC 1990 was inept, played into Egypt hands, That game in particular cried out for a player of Liam Brady`s skill, as did other games. Charltons tactics did not reflect the talent Ireland had in those days. The vast majority of our player were with Liverpool, Arsenal, Man Utd, the 3 top teams in the English league at that time. Not forgetting Liam Brady won the Italian League with Juventus I was in Italy for all of Irelands games in WC and was at all of our home games during 70s, 80s & 90s.
I was only going by what was said in the clip, 1988, my point was that i dont agree with players retiring, then, when a tasty tournament such as the euro's or world cup is on the horizon they make themselves available again...and expect to walk straight into the squad...at the expense of someone possibly more deserving, its not a fair thing to do.
I was only going by what was said in the clip, 1988, my point simply being i dont agree with any player retiring, THEN, when a world cup or the euro's are on the way suddenly deciding against retirement and 'making themself available' for selection, its not a fair thing to do, expecting simply to be picked because of who you might be, another more deserving player may miss out because brady decided he quite fancied going to the italy for the world cup....i also remember him, hateley, blisset etc etc ALL going to play in spain or italy...if you also remember, both the italian and spanish leagues were in a very poor state late 70s early 80s....they were bringing in anyone from britain in the hope it may help both leagues through theyre rock bottom state.very very poor...it was simply a financial move for these players like china or saudi is now...
Just 2 be clear. Liam Brady performances during the qualification games for the Euros in 1988 was one of the main reasons we qualified. Liam would have missed the first 2 games because of suspension but also got an injury rolling him out of being in the squad for Euro 88. This video a quite a number of inaccurate statements. Also while playing for Ireland Liam Brady did not take a Match fee from the FAI, one of his contract clauses when he signed for Juventus stippulated that he had to be released for all Rep. of Ireland games. Liams loyalty to Ireland is not disputed

Yep, artificial, but not intelligent.
A joy to watch loved watching him at arsenal. Called our son after him loved the guy
Liam Brady brilliant talent but did not do himself any favors in Stuggart at half time disgraceful treatment of a fan looking for autograph.
In my opinion the best Irish player I have seen, had a great temperament and his professionalism shone throughout his career. Imagine him and Roy Keane in the middle.
A truly special player
Brady and George Best - the two best players Ireland has ever produced.
2 different countries
@@TheGeneral_LUFC Giles was better than the pair of them
@@TheGeneral_LUFC one country, 2 statelets- by virtue of brit colonialism.
And Roy keane
@@TheGeneral_LUFCOne island country temporarily colonized in a small northern section!!!
44 seconds in Brady was born and bred and played for the Republic of Ireland not the North
Yeah I don't think Liam played too many International games for Northern Ireland Lads 😂😂😂

Bullshit, Jack didn't want them because they wouldn't just lump it, so he deprived us of two of our most technically gifted players.
