Football is the best game in the world . I used to watch all the home games just to see Rodney. He was fantastic, but more than anything he was a character and made people like me love the game. Love him or hate him, I say we need more people like Rodney who makes football fun to watch just like when he tried to take the ball of the greatest George Best, a joy to watch. Rodney, for me you was the Best ,. only because you played for my team QPR. Another thing , I heard Rodney once say he owed everything to his father. You cant believe everything you hear, it is how it is.

Never really rated him at Newcastle or Spurs. But when he went to OM, he seemed to grow as a player. Similar to Hoddle.

I know just about everybody blames depression for Gary's death but I don't think people should be so quick to dismiss the coroner's thoughts and should maybe consider that he was right to suggest drunkeness, a massive row with his wife and a stupid attempt to try and scare her may have led to his death. Remember, Gary had just come home from a party drunk and still wet from when he was pushed into a swimming pool, which may have made him feel annoyed and humiliated. There then followed this row with his wife, the details of which she has somehow forgotten. I really don't think anybody can sit here now and say with any degree of certainty that, although Gary spent every waking hour with family, friends or colleagues and showed no real signs of being depressed and suicidal to them, he was indeed suffering from deep depression and decided to kill himself because of it. Of the thousands of people who have made a conscious decision to kill themselves because they were depressed, how many did so whilst drunk and straight after a massive argument? As for this old letter which apparently shows Gary had suicidal thoughts when he was a kid because he wrote "I'm going to sleep now and I hope I don't wake up", well although some people claim this can only have been the writings of a child who was severely depressed, I think that's exactly the sort of thing millions of moody, unhappy teenagers have written over the years when penning their thoughts in a letter or in a diary. I really don't think a throwaway line like that can be seen as clear evidence that he'd had suicidal thoughts for over 20 years. As I said, I really think we have to respect the coroner's view. I personally think he was right to suggest drunkeness and the big row with his wife led Gary to do what he did.

Yes it was a violent era,with little protection from the officials,but Denis Law had crossed swords with a great many adversaries on the pitch, but there was mutual respect off it. Players such as Lorimer,Bremner.Ron Harris etc.would probably be on the side lines today,more than playing.That said,some United legends were far from being angels also.

Des walker was a great player. Leave him alone because you'll never be as good as him. Remember, jealousy is not a good trait. Des walker made a few mistakes, but he is still a legend and always will be. He had tried his best and he was a great defender. Can't agree with guy who's txt saying Bruno Fernandez is not in same class as Bryan Robson. Bruno works his socks off for United, and we didn't have him in the present team we'd be in bottom 3 by now. We could do with Bryan in the present team to make them play.

Bryan Robson is the best midfielder I've ever seen at United, along side Souness, Rivaldo, & Bremner. I first saw him play for WBA in 77/78 season at Leeds. They played Leeds of the pitch as they were being rebuilt by big Ron. Leeds were in decline. The score was 3-1 to West Brom and they looked terrific. That was the first time I'd seen Bryan play & I could tell he was one for the future. Can't tell you how glad I was when United bought him. Johnny Giles was the other player I wanted to mention But Bryan dragged United to so many wins, he's a total legend.!
