I don’t get why this doesn’t have millions of views this is the most fantastic rendition of St James infirmary blues. @tonyc... I was just telling someone on another thread that I first saw a cartoon version of this song that mimicked all Cab's dance moves. I forgot it was actually a Betty Boop cartoon lol! The cartoon is amazing and Cab in his prime was an incredible performer!
What a voice! I love how he differentiates the approach, almost lyric by lyric, to paint a picture of the character's crazy despair and deranged self affirmation. I love how his voice and performance chew the scenery into a pulp, but everything feels in service to the song. Totally unique stylings, totally fantastic.

There was a man in a group I led who reminded me so much of Cab Calloway, and it was so sad that he had never heard of him or heard one of his performances. He was an elegant and handsome man but never knew who he looked so much like.
