And he was 57 years old when this was recorded! I've adored him since the first time I saw him. One of my biggest regrets is that I wasn't around to see him preform in a nightclub with his band back in the day.
I don’t get why this doesn’t have millions of views this is the most fantastic rendition of St James infirmary blues. You can just see how much fun he has singing it and I think if you aren’t having fun singing why sing at all? Sure we have our fair share of sad songs that are good but they just don’t compare to how upbeat a happy song like this is. I think a lot of people have forgot just how amazing Cab’s pitch control is.

What a voice! I love how he differentiates the approach, almost lyric by lyric, to paint a picture of the character's crazy despair and deranged self affirmation. I love how his voice and performance chew the scenery into a pulp, but everything feels in service to the song. Totally unique stylings, totally fantastic.
Cab Calloway was so unique and animated. His music blended so well with cartoons like Betty Boop and The Looney Tunes. He was truly one of a kind, there was never anyone like him, before him and there would never be another like him, after him. RIP King 👑👑👑👑

I gave away many of my great hero t-shirts but this one is my all time favorite. My son and daughter are fighting over this one. lol... ps I truly admire this amazing man. A gift from God.

There was a man in a group I led who reminded me so much of Cab Calloway, and it was so sad that he had never heard of him or heard one of his performances. He was an elegant and handsome man but never knew who he looked so much like.
