I was riding in the car with my mom, on the way to school. We were on Rodeo Street, coming from Pritchett, when the music stopped on the radio and the station said the World Trade Center was hit by a plane. I had no clue what the World Trade Center was... and didn't even care. I wanted to listen to music, and I turned the station. I don't remember what I had 1st period.. but I do remember the buzz in the atmosphere about everything. Still not understanding the gravity of the situation. I do however remember 2nd period. I was in Mr. Haggard's history class. The lone sophomore in a junior class. Mr. Haggard brought in a television, but it wasn't turned on to the news of the outside world. He was trying to teach. But he was distracted. Almost frantic. Then, he'd leave the room. We would turn on the TV while he was away, and see pieces of what was happening. A replay of the 2nd plane hitting and the collapse of the south tower, hearing that the Pentagon was hit, and another plane crashed somewhere in Pennsylvania, live footage of the disaster and chaos, speechless and dumbstruck newscasters, speculating and wondering. And then, Mr. Haggard would return, and the news would be turned off, and he'd attempt to teach us all over again. He left the room several times. It wasn't until the last time he left, and didn't return, and we were ushered into the history class next door, that we learned Mr. Haggard's son worked in New York, just below the World Trade Centers. Mr. Haggard kept coming back to class, trying to teach us, because he wanted to stay busy until he got word his son was safe. I don't remember the details (whether he hadn't got to the office yet, or his office was far enough away from ground zero that he was able to evacuate safely) but thankfully, at the end of the day, his son was okay. I remember being in the history classroom next door, watching the news coverage, when the north tower fell, on live TV, right in front of our eyes. It wasn't a replay of something that had already happened. It wasn't a movie. It wasn't a nightmare. It was happening, in realtime, and in our faces. I can remember feeling like my stomach had dropped, as if I was on a roller coaster. I remember my mouth started watering uncontrollably, like it does just before vomiting. I remember the knot that formed instantly in my throat. I remember covering my mouth with my hand (whether it was to prevent getting sick, or just reflex from shock, I don't know). I remember tears falling from my eyes immediately, with no warning whatsoever. I remember the gasps and voices in the room around me. I remember silently praying to God, a jumbled prayer of who knows what. I don't remember much else about the school day after that, but I assume it was mostly watching and talking about everything that was happening. I do remember, in 8th period spanish, Mrs. Auvil said we were going to turn the TV off and have class. That the people behind the attacks took enough away from us already, or something along those lines, and we were going to finish the day the way we were suppose to. Eventually someone had convinced her that this was going to be a part of our history, and we SHOULD be watching, and she caved. I remember watching the news that evening at home, and for weeks following. Hearing more and more details of the lives lost, the people responsible, the families directly affected by such an evil act of terrorism. In the years since, I've read books upon books of stories told by those who lived to tell them. I've watched countless documentaries, and movies based on the event. I've listened to hours and hours worth of interviews from survivors, and recorded phone calls from the victims, to their families or emergency services, made in the last few minutes of their lives. 9/11 is a day I will never forget. It was a day full of sorrow and pain, heroism and bravery. It was a day that Americans silently came together, and stood proudly as a whole. It didn't matter if we were young or old; fat or skinny; gay or straight; red, yellow, black, or white; sickly or healthy; Democrat or Republican; christian or atheist; or absolutely anything in between. On that tragically beautiful Tuesday in September, we were One Nation. I'll never forget. 🇺🇸

On 9-11-2021 My 8 year old Granddaughter will be Figure Skating to this song in her Dramatic Showcase Competition in Minnesota. She doesn't care if she places, she said she is Skating not for a medal but to honor the people that Died that Day.

I remember turning on the TV when I got home and I saw one of the towers fall. I will never forget about the 343 firefighters and 60 police officers who made the ultimate sacrifice.

In this video he’s got a voice that’s 20 years older, we’ve all seen two decades/two wars, and now the song is no longer about 9-11…it’s about 9-12. I remember this song. When I went to prison and I was at school they would play music videos while we were working on our work and this is one of the songs but I could swear it was a different version of it.
Into thousand and one I was a freshman when two planes hit the World Trade Center. We stayed in our classes in high school listening to on the radio what was going on in the TV as well till Tuesday I will never forget 911 God bless those soldiers fire department, police department, including the people that are in the world trade center every year when September 11 comes around the only thing I just do I just smile the only thing you can do. I was northbound i29 in Missouri headed to Omaha Nebraska to make a delivery.5 years later I was a convoy driver in Iraq supporting our troops and did this for 3 years. I was too old to go into the military .After doing that I have the utmost respect for our men and women serving in the best military on EARTH

I'll never forget. I was loading mail to start my route. I had the radio on and I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I ran back into the PO and asked my boss, did you hear? My heart still hurts today. God bless America, and thank you to our heroes.
I was on my way to Manhattan. Saw the smoke from the F train (1st plane). When I got off the train and reached the street it was absolute chaos and I was all the way uptown. Second plane had already struck. Had to walk home with a million people over the Queensboro bridge hearing jets zipping by above. At the time about 2pm we didn't know if they were our jets or if we were still being attacked.

I was a child at the time, in school.... I remember the fear. I live in NY. I remember sitting in a gym, hiding out as we all watched the adults and older kids cry. I remember a teacher asking the principle if we would survive. I learned years later that a local and highly iconic company that was considered an American symbol was a target.... as was a reactor not far from were I live. But the brave folks on the plan that fought back and crashed in Pennsylvania saved thousands that day. Everyday, I thank them for saving the innocent children and adults that huddled and waited for clearance to go home and hug their families. NEVER FORGET

I don't mean to make light of 9-11 because those poor people went through Hell. I'd never do that but the name of this song has a new meaning to me. My daddy died right in front of me on September 4th 2021. Every time this song comes up on my TH-cam, i think.. I was sitting there waiting for the hospital to release my dad after double bypass surgery. He was ready to go home and he just died. All the doctors and nurses couldn't save him and believe me, they tried. I'll never hear this song again without thinking of that awful September day.
Special special song. Was in Germany on 9/11. The locals invited us visiting Americans outside the next day. We stood outside in a circle holding hands and weeping. I remember watching when he performed this for the very first time at the AMA or AMCA awards show... 20yrs later and his voice and message is just as strong as it was back then. Many songs came out after 9/11.. but this one in my opinion is by far the best. I think everyone that was old enough when this happened, knows exactly where they were when the world stopped turning on that September day.. I was at home with my wife we just got our son on the bus, after the 2nd plane hit i went to the school and got son out of school knowing we was under attack. The days that followed was weird not seeing one plane flying, i still today stop and watch planes when there's one flying. above. Sad day.

I remember this song. When I went to prison and I was at school they would play music videos while we were working on our work and this is one of the songs but I could swear it was a different version of it.
Into thousand and one I was a freshman when two planes hit the World Trade Center. We stayed in our classes in high school listening to on the radio what was going on in the TV as well till Tuesday I will never forget 911 God bless those soldiers fire department, police department, including the people that are in the world trade center every year when September 11 comes around the only thing I just do I just smile the only thing you can do. God bless stay safe out there and keep your kids safe.

I was northbound i29 in Missouri headed to Omaha Nebraska to make a delivery.5 years later I was a convoy driver in Iraq supporting our troops and did this for 3 years. I was too old to go into the military .After doing that I have the utmost respect for our men and women serving in the best military on EARTH

Was at work listening to the broad cast and hard to figure until I got home and watched it air again. Oh the shock of disbelief in what was going on in our world.
No matter how many times he sings it, no matter the audience...no matter the occasion...the emotion is always there. This is our anthem for that day...the most powerful song probably ever written.
The fact that 20 years ago brave men were running into the towers as they collapsed, demonstated to the world and the nation that the greatest thing they had was faith hope and love!

I can’t hear this without crying or almost crying
I was on my way to Manhattan. Saw the smoke from the F train (1st plane). When I got off the train and reached the street it was absolute chaos and I was all the way uptown. Second plane had already struck. Had to walk home with a million people over the Queensboro bridge hearing jets zipping by above. At the time about 2pm we didn't know if they were our jets or if we were still being attacked.

I love this song I heard this song after September 11th in 2001 and it’s one of my favorite songs on 9-11 it really makes me remember. The lives that were lost on that tragic day Alan Jackson is an amazing artist.

I was a child at the time, in school.... I remember the fear. I live in NY. I remember sitting in a gym, hiding out as we all watched the adults and older kids cry. I remember a teacher asking the principle if we would survive. I learned years later that a local and highly iconic company that was considered an American symbol was a target.... as was a reactor not far from were I live. But the brave folks on the plan that fought back and crashed in Pennsylvania saved thousands that day. Everyday, I thank them for saving the innocent children and adults that huddled and waited for clearance to go home and hug their families.

It's a day I'll never forget.
I don't mean to make light of 9-11 because those poor people went through Hell. I'd never do that but the name of this song has a new meaning to me. My daddy died right in front of me on September 4th 2021. Every time this song comes up on my TH-cam, i think.. I was sitting there waiting for the hospital to release my dad after double bypass surgery. He was ready to go home and he just died. All the doctors and nurses couldn't save him and believe me, they tried. I'll never hear this song again without thinking of that awful September day.
Special special song. Was in Germany on 9/11. The locals invited us visiting Americans outside the next day. We stood
outside in a circle holding hands and weeping. What a horrible day and this song captures it as well as any. Also love

I remember watching when he performed this for the very first time at the AMA or AMCA awards show... 20yrs later and his voice and message is just as strong as it was back then. Many songs came out after 9/11.. but this one in my opinion is by far the best. I think everyone that was old enough when this happened, knows exactly where they were when the world stopped turning on that September day.. God Bless America & God Bless all the lives that were lost and continue to pass away due to the after effects, and God Bless ALL the workers and survivors.

I was at home with my wife we just got our son on the bus, after the 2nd plane hit i went to the school and got son out of school knowing we was under attack. The days that followed was weird not seeing one plane flying, i still today stop and watch planes when there's one flying. above. Sad day.
