I find this absolutely hilarious. Two spiders of different size, both blind as a bat, the smaller one stealing from the bigger one and the bigger one doesn’t know it 😂 how is this not comical
This was my favorite spider that I have ever caught as a kid. It was practically twice the size of my hand back then. I was deathly afraid of it at the same time I was fascinated by it; I was shivering while holding the bottle trying to look at it. It was quite docile but very intimidating. The one I caught was black all over and had the same colors as the one on the video except the abdomen was black with stripes running its back.
This is pretty much the human equivalent of someone deciding to steal from the workplace fridge; only, the person who's food is being targeted is standing right there in the room as they're doing it.
Its incredible to think how much time, money, and footage, and analyzing everything to come up with these videos. Really cool stuff. Was fun to watch. Great video.
I was not expecting cuteness from watching a tiny little spider tug at web filaments. "Hmm, is it on this string? Mmmm wait, let me double check.... no, maybe not... how about THIS one? Wait no maybe it WAS the first one after all."
Spider on spider violence.....when will it end 😳 All jokes aside, spiders may look creepy as hell but they are some amazing hunters They rule the bug world imo
Philosophers like to assume animals are mindless, but why remember and return to an in progress meal, when a fresh one is before you? What's underlying their behaviors? Their interactions are fascinating.
Philosophers don't assume they are "mindless", they have arguments why the animal lacks a will and intellect. It is fascinating nonetheless seeing animals and what they are capable of without either.
Good cinematography has been around for many decades (both for fictional works and non fictional works.) Some of my favourite moments of cinematography are from the 1960s.
I walk through the forest with my dog daily, over paths that no one else takes, so this happens to me atleast twice a week.. Thankfully spiders here are tiny..
Never goto Okinawa then. Moved into my first house had to kill 4 of them. Biggest one was the size of my hand. They make webs between the houses and the females are huge. Look up Golden Orb Weavers. That’s what they are.
What if this is some kind of interaction that nephila deliberately tolerates because it doesn't really harm either spider? There's more than enough food to go around for both of them and quite frankly most flies are quite a small meal to actually digest and not worth a whole lot of effort on nephila's part. Maybe she actually knows there's another spider there but is genetically programmed to ignore it due to it's vibrations being similar to male spiders of her species that are trying to mate with her? "Oh, that sounds like the vibrations of a potential mate, I wouldn't want to eat him prematurely!"
More interesting is how even 2 spiders from the same brood can have significantly different "personalities". One example would be differences in how they will attack prey. One sibling may bite once and leave the prey to the venom for a bit while the other sibling will repeatedly bite the prey and start eating soon after. I also observe what appears to be food preference, which just seems unusual for the types of spiders observed.
@@lawrencecarr4973 Thanks I actually have a couple more videos I need to upload including a 13 minute parson spider going after a mealworm. Bit of an unpleasant story to go along with that one. Poor mealworm... Maybe I'll try to have them up before May.

I think that this video needs mission impossible's soundtrack, lol.
after reading this i literally just mourn the soundtrack with small pitch and recorded it lmao
The camera work from these documentaries will never seize to amaze me. Absolutely quality work.

@@kushpaladin I’d beg to differ. Especially jumping spiders.
Amazing how clever spiders can be...
The music sounds so retro, like a horror level of Zelda or something =P
Brilliant footage as always, amazing how they get it.
When you max out stealth and agility vs. power and defense
I would have just saved the hassle and gone to the nearest mcdonalds
You could literally shit out a more nutritious meal. Doesn't cost anything, it's free and would taste a lot better.
rip to spider thief but you're different
The intelligence of spiders is truly breath taking
Fly: hello you my UBER
UBER spider: yes I can give you a lift
😱 thats a smart little spider.
Yup😂😂😂😂
Wow!! Talk about 1) a
smooth criminal and 2) the blind stealin from the blind. Amazing!!
Why can’t I stop watching these

What a gorgeous Nephila Pilipes. Such a pretty lady

small spider, "you weren't planning on eating that were you?"
*Casually steals a fly and starts humming*
"Spider-Thief, Spider-Thief. Thieves whatever a Spider-Thief can steal..."

Tragoudistros.MPH freash one hasn’t been digested yet, so she returns to original one to finish it.
yusupovm which proves the spider has at least short term memory
TheLewisma not necessarily, they could be working on scent or heat signature of their food.

I wonder if the little spiders ever get caught in the act by the large Nephila Spider, and if so, what happens.
David mentioned it. If they are caught they can end up as a meal too

thank you for showing the details of tiny animals 💖💖💖💖💖
Cute sneaky little spider. 🙈

Amazing how the smaller spider's vibrations aren't felt on the web.
These spiders are sometimes smarter then me. I would've be like: nah, she to big. and then would search for my own meal.
