i can feel the actual pain these people who got insane parents as someone to live with for halfway most of their life's. having parents that doesn't support a dream is actually stressing, and i'm not even at the age of 18+ and all i can do right now is dream of my future. my mom is really desperate of me being a doctor one day and kept saying that I would be good at this, good at that bla bla, but i just think that dream isn't really fitting from what i like. i personally want to work on art and music, but my mom isn't even likely to let me play an instrument (she bashed my guitar once, and i currently don't have the money to replace the old one) so if people has the experience of not having a current supporting role model. But usually, staying away from toxic people is the best thing you can do (I mean if they were able to handle conflict like a grown-up, they wouldn't be toxic, right?) Maybe you can ask your therapist what's their reason for pushing you
Quick insane parents story : my mom took in a 19 year old girl this winter, because when she came out her parents turned batshit crazy, her mother wouldn't even walk by her in the corridor from fear she might "catch the lesbian disease", and her father, who'd always treated her like a punching bag, became worse and threatened multiple times to hang her by the ankles in the cellar to "cure" her. They're not even religious. They don't even have that as an reason for their behavior. So the girl called child services and lived with her aunt for a few months before her aunt threw her out, two weeks before Christmas, because "Christmas is a family holiday and you're not exactly family anymore". Fun times.
I hope she's in good hands now and that things would get better for her. She doesn't deserve all that, and I could only wish that she's being supported and loved in the place she's in now
@@vc_whatever She lives with us now, she's in her final year of high-school and she just got accepted into the university she applied for. Her girlfriend came by yesterday, they're both super sweet. She'll probably leave my mom's house this September and it's going to be hard because the three of us get along really well. I can only hope that other people who were in the same situation as her manage to find a way out.
@Micayla Yeap She's definitely better now, she still has to get used to not apologizing for everything and not putting herself down all the time, but there's definitely progress. It's hard to come back from traumas like these but it's fortunately possible.
I went to a silent auction with my mom once (probably about 2-5 years ago) and the large crowd of people majorly overwhelmed me. My mom continually asked me to go into the crowd and check on an item she wanted and to compensate, I started digging my nails into my palm because it gave me something to distract myself from the large number of people around me. I've suspected for a while that I may have anxiety of some sort because I've always felt panicky in large crowds and was very hesitant to do this. My mom's response was "It's not that bad." A family friend sitting at the table (bc it was a silent auction with a dinner after and then a normal auction) saw it after the fact and I told her what happened so she tried to recommend some things to help. When my *mom* saw l, because the friend was trying to make her aware of the problem, she fucking laughed at it and jokingly showed my grandparents (her parents) and my uncle/his family that was there with us. Safe to say that's one of the last times I tried to open up to her about mental illnesses that I might have.
Funny story: My dad climbed half way through my wondow while i was on Instagram to record me and tell everyone im insane and show it to "the court". This happened because i woke up to him trying to kick down my door because we had gotten in a fight the night before over the fact he thinks he can control how i wear makeup

I don't know about these kind of things, but the smaller, less known countries tend to be more underground, or even smaller, less known towns/villages in large, well known countries. They chase each other around holding farming tools until they're sober again.

"Herd Immunity" is legit needed, but like many good things in life it can't be rushed. At the fast end a virus that has basically no negative effects but spreads quickly you could probably get it in a couple months, but CV requires so many resources to keep people going through it that it' be better to take, like, at least a couple years. My teachers took an entire hour to figure out that I wasn't lying about my condition to get attention. I was in a rush that morning and didn't take my painkillers. If I don't take my meds, the pain is so bad that I throw up anything I eat and can barely walk. I had to walk to lunch while being in terrible pain, and only when I went to the bathroom and threw up my whole lunch they sent me home.

Georgie A Sorry, I’ll quickly elaborate why I think that’s so insensitive. When ever my mother yelled at me or threatened me with physical and emotional violence I felt like my own life was in danger. I felt so scared. I couldn’t even lock myself in my room because she threatened to break my door in and I was very close to calling the cops, because she actually tried getting in by force before. I am very much against violence as I do not want to end up like her (one of my greatest fears) I hope you understand why I thought your comment was kind of hurtful as it kind of triggered an old memory. Like I said, I have ptsd from my mother.

@@925263 the weight of it made an impact on me as a kid. My uncle showed me a revolver to teach me about them, and I was like “cool like a cowboy gun” and then I held it with my hands. Hands, not one handed like the guys on tv, but I had to grip it with both hands to keep it diagonal towards the ground, and that sort of gave me the “oh crap, this is real” experience. Teaching kids to be responsible and yet COMFORTABLE around cars is the same thing, they ride in one every day, you let them sit in the drivers seat, but you also teach them that they are dangerous, even when not moving “fast”
I remember my first trip to a mental hospital. I was extremely suicidal, and very scared of everything and everyone. So my grandmothers first thought when picking me up was to scream and make everything about her. She would be in the room at all my therapy sessions and she would even drag me out by my arm whenever she was brought up as a problem, and would even tell me to genuinely try to off myself whenever she got pissed and then blame it on her "temper". People like these parents make me sick to my stomach, when something extreme happens in your child's life and they keep telling professionals that your the problem, that means your the fucking problem. Don't make it worse.

Quick insane parents story : my mom took in a 19 year old girl this winter, because when she came out her parents turned batshit crazy, her mother wouldn't even walk by her in the corridor from fear she might "catch the lesbian disease", and her father, who'd always treated her like a punching bag, became worse and threatened multiple times to hang her by the ankles in the cellar to "cure" her. They're not even religious. They don't even have that as an reason for their behavior. So the girl called child services and lived with her aunt for a few months before her aunt threw her out, two weeks before Christmas, because "Christmas is a family holiday and you're not exactly family anymore". Fun times.

@@vc_whatever She lives with us now, she's in her final year of high-school and she just got accepted into the university she applied for. Her girlfriend came by yesterday, they're both super sweet. She'll probably leave my mom's house this September and it's going to be hard because the three of us get along really well. I can only hope that other people who were in the same situation as her manage to find a way out.
@Micayla Yeap She's definitely better now, she still has to get used to not apologizing for everything and not putting herself down all the time, but there's definitely progress. It's hard to come back from traumas like these but it's fortunately possible.

I went to a silent auction with my mom once (probably about 2-5 years ago) and the large crowd of people majorly overwhelmed me. My mom continually asked me to go into the crowd and check on an item she wanted and to compensate, I started digging my nails into my palm because it gave me something to distract myself from the large number of people around me. I've suspected for a while that I may have anxiety of some sort because I've always felt panicky in large crowds and was very hesitant to do this. My mom's response was "It's not that bad."
A family friend sitting at the table (bc it was a silent auction with a dinner after and then a normal auction) saw it after the fact and I told her what happened so she tried to recommend some things to help. When my *mom* saw l, because the friend was trying to make her aware of the problem, she fucking laughed at it and jokingly showed my grandparents (her parents) and my uncle/his family that was there with us.
Safe to say that's one of the last times I tried to open up to her about mental illnesses that I might have.

I don't know about these kind of things, but the smaller, less known countries tend to be more underground, or even smaller, less known towns/villages in large, well known countries. Stuff like this can't be attributed to many well known countries, so wherever Mea's mother lived, they probably didn't have many laws.

Luckily their grandchildren (my cousins) aren't but my mother's cousins are kind of like that. My mom once mentioned some brothers that (unsuccessfully) attempt to kill one another when drunk. They chase each other around holding farming tools until they're sober again.

"Herd Immunity" is legit needed, but like many good things in life it can't be rushed. At the fast end a virus that has basically no negative effects but spreads quickly you could probably get it in a couple months, but CV requires so many resources to keep people going through it that it' be better to take, like, at least a couple years. My teachers took an entire hour to figure out that I wasn't lying about my condition to get attention. I was in a rush that morning and didn't take my painkillers. If I don't take my meds, the pain is so bad that I throw up anything I eat and can barely walk. I had to walk to lunch while being in terrible pain, and only when I went to the bathroom and threw up my whole lunch they sent me home.

Sorry, I’ll quickly elaborate why I think that’s so insensitive.
When ever my mother yelled at me or threatened me with physical and emotional violence I felt like my own life was in danger. I felt so scared. I couldn’t even lock myself in my room because she threatened to break my door in and I was very close to calling the cops, because she actually tried getting in by force before.
I am very much against violence as I do not want to end up like her (one of my greatest fears)
I hope you understand why I thought your comment was kind of hurtful as it kind of triggered an old memory. Like I said, I have ptsd from my mother.

@@925263 the weight of it made an impact on me as a kid. My uncle showed me a revolver to teach me about them, and I was like “cool like a cowboy gun” and then I held it with my hands. Hands, not one handed like the guys on tv, but I had to grip it with both hands to keep it diagonal towards the ground, and that sort of gave me the “oh crap, this is real” experience. Teaching kids to be responsible and yet COMFORTABLE around cars is the same thing, they ride in one every day, you let them sit in the drivers seat, but you also teach them that they are dangerous, even when not moving “fast”
I remember my first trip to a mental hospital. I was extremely suicidal, and very scared of everything and everyone. So my grandmothers first thought when picking me up was to scream and make everything about her. She would be in the room at all my therapy sessions and she would even drag me out by my arm whenever she was brought up as a problem, and would even tell me to genuinely try to off myself whenever she got pissed and then blame it on her "temper". People like these parents make me sick to my stomach, when something extreme happens in your child's life and they keep telling professionals that your the problem, that means your the fucking problem. Don't make it worse.
