After many years of back pain I was diagnosed with degenerative discs at L4 - L5 and L5 - S1. Recently the pain has been unbearable. I discovered this video a couple of days ago and tried the exercises more out of hope than expectation of any improvement. I am now virtually pain free after a couple of days. Thank you so much for uploading this video.
Omg same here. I have herniated discs in the same areas you mentioned and recently my sciatica has been just on and off non stop. Before I used to get sciatic pain once in a while maybe two or three times a year. In the recent months is almost weekly. I go to acupuncture, get biweekly deep tissue massages. Do stretches, and even bought a massage fun to massage the areas that are tight. I use a tens unit when I'm sitting down at work just so I can work comfortably. I don't know what else to try anymore. I'm gonna try these exercises but what else have you tried or helped you.
@@Nana-1908 if you can afford it, a spinal decompression machine twice weekly has helped me tremendously. I use it at a chiropractor‘s office. It’s not cheap, but has helped my sciatica that goes into my toe. I have scoliosis and driving is the worst. Make sure you use a wedge in your car for sitting also.
Came accross your video. I’m a nurse for 17 years and recently started to have back pain, currently on physical therapy which help minimally. Your exercises gave me instant relieved from my back pain. Thank you very much!
Your visual demo's and verbal advice has given me more hope in 9 minutes than any amount of health appointments I have had in 12 months. I am deeply grateful 🙏 thanks doc 👍
Totally agree with you Anita. Years of meds, injections, infusions, acupuncture etc and zero improvement. Following these demos has improved things in just a few days.
Thank you SO much folks. At age 82, and having back pain treated since my early twenties, I’ve never seen such a variety of stretches that REALLY work. After all these years....that feels SO good, and has given me such relief. Bless you!
Oh my God, oh My God, I discovered your video yesterday after my mom had been seriously in unrelenting pain, I sent her the link, because I just felt so useless. I'm a bit of an exercise head so I took her on her first session according to your videos. And she's making comments of immense relief! I'm smiling like a child. We're going to continue for a while to really assess progress. THANK YOU SO MUCH. THANK YOU THANK YOU.
I looked this up out of desperation because sometimes I injure my lower back (caused by improper movement or lifting). When this happens, it's difficult to sleep. When I did the last stretch in this video, my lower back cracked and I FELT that in my whole body. WHAT THE F! Instant relief! I did the rest of the stretches as well and I feel SO much better. I will add these to some of my regular routines. I see many others you've helped with this video too. Many thanks!
I’ve been diagnosed with Sciatica since 5 months ago and recently with lower back pain. I did physical therapy, acupuncture which none of them help much. I started using these techniques in this video and I can see improvement! Thank you so much 🙏
Thank you so much for sharing these stretches! I have middle back pain and when I stretched with my arms extended from the arm of my couch my spine released on the pain spot. Instant relief!
Sir. You are the BEST. You bring information and techniques that I've never heard or seen before. And it is relieving my lower back sciatica pain, that I've had for 2 yrs. And you do it in a open forum. THANK YOU SO MUCH. And God bless you.
Thank you Dr Rowe. i was convinced i had piriformis syndrome (sharp pain in center of my buttocks down to my foot)and worked on those stretches that you recommeded for about a week but the sciatica presisted. so i tried your home decompression therapy techniques and all i can say is WOW! pressure was relieved almost immediately. tried it right before bed and was able to sleep thru the night without the discomfort.
I am having back pain this week and just sitting crosslegged in bed and slouching while reading my phone my lower back pain developed a tightness in the middle of my back. I have trouble moving to lie down and I was worried I wouldn't be able to sleep and have to head for the ER tomorrow morning but after doing this it brought relief. I think I can wait out the weekend and see my physician next week. Thank you.
I've had lower back pain since we were forced to work from home during the pandemic (no home office so bad chair and desk), and bulging disc with pinching nerves on right side of butt and leg since last november until februari. Now only lower back pain remains. Searched and tried a ton of exercises since then but nothing really gave relief. Found this video about 2 days ago and the last exercise works like magic.... lower backpain is significantly reduced... i can even bend over again. Huge thank you ❤ i thought i was gonna have to live with the pain forever
Awesome video. I did all the exercises and it gave me a very nice stretch on my lower back and it's literally gone. My pain is very mild so I think this will help speed up the healing process. 👍
Thank you, thank you so much for this! I’m struggling so much with this right now and no physio or doctor even mentioned spinal decompression! It’s really relieving for me
Doc - your videos are so helpful! All those exercises help me in easing the severe pain I get due to Spinal Stenosis. Some nights I wake up due to severe pain radiating to my left back, calf muscle and my ankle. These exercises help me. Thank you!
Thank you for sound practical exercises that are effective without needing to invest in expensive equipment or trips to a therapy center. Something I discovered on my own which doesn't get much mention in any channel is to simply stretch my legs to maximum extension while laying in bed (don't do this on a worn out mattress - firm or extra firm is good) and hold in that position for a while. This provides an incredible amount of relief (at least for me - YMMV). You do apply this concept in some of your exercises. I just wanted to point out this simple in bed stretch as it yields a lot of benefit and has the same advantages as your exercises.
Your are amazing I am suffering from Lower back pain since many years and doing my exercise but you are amazing I am much better thanx a lot regads from Pakistan
I Suffer from degenerative scoliosis and have had lower back pain for pretty much the past 10 years or so. I wish I had known about spinal decompression then! It’s a god send. I’m kind of a nerd and love reading how things work. I was wondering if you can do a video explaining HOW this works in layman’s terms. I know it takes pressure off so that blood and nutrients can go between discs or something to that extent ??
Hi Doc, recently I've been lying on my back on the ground with a foam roller placed under my sacrum (Legs bent with their weight acting down on to my feet). It feels great and looks a lot like the kind of stretch you would get from the last position in this video. My question is: Is this safe to do? I haven't seen it recommended or discouraged but I am relatively inexperienced. Love the vids, they're great help. Thanks.
I’m currently in a bad way . I’m can barely stand up and when I do the pain is intolerable. I’ve been trying techniques to alleviate the pressure in my back to help with the pain in my right buttock and right leg. Yeah be finally found a position that is proving to work for me today . I’ve propped my self up with pillows on my bed. I lean onto the pillows with my legs hanging directly down to the floor. With my knees off the floor and my feet touching the floor. Relaxing my hips muscles and you feel the relief minutes after . I’ve been in this position for 5 minutes at a time . Yeah t really workx
It was osm. I got instant relief. Thank u so much sir. One problem with me is whenever i do kitchen work for more than 30 min. Or walk fast more than 10 minutes i feel pain in my thoracic region.and it become severe if i dont take rest at that time. Othervise i m very active person .daily do yoga . Walk etc. Did strengthening thoracic ex. But no improvement. No medico diagnose my problem till now. All test x rays normal.

Here's an idea for a future video, doc. Can you teach the way a person who's got lower back pain and do walking every day should walk properly, so as not to cause more pain to the back?
I am elderly and weak and am unable to safely get down to the floor and unable to get back up at all. Could you recommend some modifications to your recommended exercises for someone like me?
This is a really informative video. My mom is suffering from disc bulging and pain in right leg. Going to start these stretches for her. I have a quick question. I have got degenerative disc disease, majorly impacting my cervical spine. I feel discomfort in upper back even if I sit for a minute without any support. Could you guide something on same if you have any video on this issue, that will be really helpful. Thank you.
Thanks for all the videos! I’ve had lower back pain for 3 years… it’s the worst in the morning and gradually improves throughout the day. I have good days and bad days.. even good weeks and bad weeks. I recently invested in a firm Tempur mattress (expensive) but still got the pain 😔 we recently went on holiday for a week and the pain doubled in that mattress. Will this pain ever go away? I dread going to bed and it’s very depressing waking up in pain every single day… I’m currently doing extension exercises every day to try and improve posture and decompress.. I have a sitting job and I know sitting and flexion of the spine is the cause of my back pain Please help! Thanks
Notes: Feet up with McKenzie Method driving the hip, modified child's pose, sciatic nerve floss with toes pointed, traction stretch with upper body lower than lower body
I'm barely over 4 feet tall, so when I lean on the couch like that, my knees are nowhere close to the floor. Is that an issue? Should I use the coffee table instead?
Thank you so much! Here’s a testimony. In the last 3 months I’ve had a mostly desk job and noticed in the last 2 months lower back pain that’s achey, not sharp and no sciatica. Just weird, painful sensations to my lower back. after laying down flat and inability to bend over without a a lot of pain. I did all your exercises last night and this morning, no pain! I can’t thank you enough! I ordered a lumbar roll for my desk chair hoping this will prevent this from happening too. I’ll do your exercises before bed.

Thanks.
Interesting. You may find that putting a pillow or towel over the foam roller will help with comfort too.
Thank you so much, your videos and stretches have really helped!

@@DrRowe having fused vertebrae of L5 with S1 on left side. Feeling back pain, constant struggling in balancing the body weight equally on both the sides when sitting walking standing, even when lying down. And common stretches and strengthening exercises of lumbar, hip and glutus muscles are not applicable for our conditions. Please make series of videos only for incomplete lumbo sacral transitional vertebrae. 1.sitting 2.standing 3.walking 4.sleeping positions 5. Lower back and glute stretches 6. Strengthening 7.training of proper use of back and abdominal muscles to help in keeping the back muscles flexible and strong
Here's an idea for a future video, doc. Can you teach the way a person who's got lower back pain and do walking every day should walk properly, so as not to cause more pain to the back?
Thank you for the suggestion, I'll add that to the list!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and expertise through those exercises. They've been helpful. 🙏🏾
Happy to help, and thanks so much for watching!
Thank you.

Hypolordosis. A good first step is to work on improving posture of the lower back: th-cam.com/video/kxOT_sxSa4c/w-d-xo.html
Magical! I had pain in my upper back and gave these exercises a go and it worked like a charm! :)
GREAT to hear that! Thanks for watching.
Excellent this is, thanks for posting this video

Thank you for the exercises! How soon after injury and acute pain can one begin these exercises? Thanks again!
That's something you'll want to ask a local doctor or chiropractor that knows your condition firsthand. Thanks for watching.
@@DrRowe Thanks very much, I'm getting an MRI on Friday. Appreciate you responding to my message and keep up the great work!
Is this good for pudendal neuralgia symptoms? Thanks
How often can do spinal decompression ? Thanks
Hi, thank you for the help. Is it common to have groin pain with SI pain?
Thanks for all the videos! I’ve had lower back pain for 3 years… it’s the worst in the morning and gradually improves throughout the day. I have good days and bad days.. even good weeks and bad weeks. I recently invested in a firm Tempur mattress (expensive) but still got the pain 😔 we recently went on holiday for a week and the pain doubled in that mattress. Will this pain ever go away? I dread going to bed and it’s very depressing waking up in pain every single day… I’m currently doing extension exercises every day to try and improve posture and decompress.. I have a sitting job and I know sitting and flexion of the spine is the cause of my back pain
Please help!
Thanks
I just love your video, Awesome!!
Thanks again for watching!
Notes: Feet up with McKenzie Method driving the hip, modified child's pose, sciatic nerve floss with toes pointed, traction stretch with upper body lower than lower body
would you recommend spinal decompression therapy on a pulling table?
I'm barely over 4 feet tall, so when I lean on the couch like that, my knees are nowhere close to the floor. Is that an issue? Should I use the coffee table instead?
Thank you so much for the help! Do you recommend routine yoga to help long term lower back issues?
Yoga has a great record of helping lower back issues, just start off with beginner poses and progress from there. Thanks so much for watching!
@@virginiagross5836 That's FANTASTIC. Keep up with the exercises!
