The sculk only spreads when creatures or entities are killed near it, and it converts the blocks into sculk. Suggesting it feeds on the life force (Exp of other mobs). It is consuming the overworld, this dimension in essential slowly hunting and killing the overworld. It is a parasitic realm seeking to spread and ingulf our own, and like most living things it has a means to defend itself aka the Warden. The Warden is merely the sculks self-defense mechanism and a form of feeding itself. The souls in in its chest are the mobs the sculk consumes, reused into a type of energy that gives life to the warden. Now although this is all very scary there is one important thing to keep in mind. To the luck of the overworld these sculk growths appeared underground in caves places were there is very little to feed its growth. It would take a long period of time for sculk to spread to from a cave system to the surface. This does present players with the opportunity to find these sculk breaches and eliminate them. That is if they can bring down the warden first…. (Sorry about all the text I get really into this stuff o-0).

Hes right the sensors will revolutionize Redstone builds. Imagine having piston doors open and close just by proximity to the door. Or mob farms that activate only when mobs are present. One thing I would like to know is if plants growing is considered making "noise". Kind of like how observers see sheep eating grass and changing the block.
you can use it to detect sheep eating with a comparator output of 8... This sensor is awesome! with it now you can just put the dispenser on top, and have grass all around the sheep. =)
This is old sculk shriekers. The updated one lost the ability to spawn warden once picked up. Also shriekers generated by catalyst also cannot spawn a warden. Only naturally generated can do it. They also have different texture. Shriekers that imbued with an ability to summon has brighter texture of spinning souls in center, and they spin faster. Shrieker that cannot summon has pale texture of spinning souls and they spin slower.

So, when I read about the warden and how it gets summoned by sculk sensors and shriekers, even just reading it made me terrified tbh. I'm very easily scared, even a zombie freaks me out if it's early enough in the game. Now, seeing how the warden is summoned, and the creepy crawling out of the ground shit it did, I'm even more scared. I hate everything about that part of the update. All of it.
I absolutely will not be going to the new ancient (I accidentally typed 'anxiety' but that works too lol) city in survival mode. In creative mode though, especially with a night vision potion, it's a lot of fun to explore. The warden does still make horrifying noises though, so that's less than ideal🙃
hmmm, im wondering if the ancient cities are connected to the nether. soul lanterns are everywhere, theres obviously a connection to the existing items in the soulsand valleys, with the bubbles and exp, and the animated ghost textures. perhaps the big portal in the middle was to the nether, and the reenforced deepslate was put there as a precaution, possibly to keep the warden as contained as possible
I just discovered my first ancient city last night (luckily on a creative world, because I'm terrified to go in survival lol) but I was wondering the same thing. They have soul sand, they have the soul lanterns, but its odd to see a nether portal not made of obsidian. Perhaps the branch of people who were living in these cities were not agreeable to the others who used the regular gates. Maybe they were intentionally trying to access the nether without using obsidian (maybe because theyd been banished from society and maybe from using certain materials) and they accidentally accessed a different, worse dimension. One we can't access because as far as I know we can't activate the portal in the city. One the sculk/warden escaped from into our world and they destroyed everyone they could reach. No clue, but I am interested to see theories come out as more people check out ancient cities and develop ideas of their own.
Im like 2 years late but it reminds me more of the end. Skulk catalyst look similar to end frames, and then both them and the normal skulk looks like the end portal itself
Thing is all of the blocks are interactable with redstone Sensor,, Shrieker, Catalyst - self-explanatory, sets off charge when activated Observers can detect spawn ins like all of them (minus catalyst) so if a Sensor, Shrieker, or Vein spawn on top of Sculk it will set off the Observer, the vein by means of spreading to the observer which like a ladder or glow lichen its actually the block above the sculk so it's a wired mechanic. also with Shriekers if you get many lets say 4 for now and set them equal distance from a 4 redstone repeater clock with 3 slowest and 1 2nd slowest, it should alternate, like say if you want to alternate counter clockwise, the signal should pass ahead right before reactivation. also found it hard to find a perfect way to remove observer veins and just settled with pistons on the observer perhaps powered by same observer via redstone or/and sculk sensor or the catalyst (since it's centered around the catalyst both should work). And this is just me messing around and not really putting use to them and just want to see all the functions played out by a professional.
I am so excited for the deep dark and ancient cities its going to be so fun to explore. I bet theres some hidden mechanics that remain to be seen with making a skulk farm. You could funnel tropical fish like you did but in survival in a lush cave it wouldnt be as fast but still. Great Video Eye!
@@rompevuevitos222 was really simple was a jaw like texture in a sculk block that dealt a small amount of damage but would stop you for a few seconds. Only would have been an issue if being chased by the warden and it gives you blindness and you couldn’t see it
glad this video is up because im playing solo in hardcore mode and ran into the sculk so i looked it up and ur vid was the most recent, im literally trying to find my way back out because it alarmed the warden and well... I'm not dead but i did get off the game for now because im tunnelling my way out right now is devastating after watching this video sheeesh since when did minecraft turn into a horror game man

it turns out that even if you get the shricker or the catalyst with a pickaxe with a silk touch (or even if you build a "wire" for infection with blocks from the dark dark to the surface, the warden will not appear in the upper world?

oh and also the monsters down in the deep biome can inflict more damage as opposed to a monster thats not in the deep dark, gally, im glad the warden didnt actually summon because if it did, i'd have been dead, my diamond armor doesnt have all the best enchantments yet haha
I think sculk will be very useful on Bedrock for mending items, since you can't offhand items you want to mend. It can be very awkward trying to mend something like a shovel or hoe, since you have to kill something or mine something, and try not to pick up the experience until you have the item you want to mend in your hand. Especially on pocket addition as I usually play, since it can be hard to click the item in time for the XP to actually mend it. It can take a while, and be pretty annoying when you waste XP by not switching to what you want to mend in time. But with sculk, you can just hold a damaged mending shovel, or trident, or whatever and probably mend it much quicker, and since it doesn't require any one tool to mine, you don't have to worry about accidentally picking up XP before you have your item selected.

What does it look like?” *Later.* “……I think you need to run away from it.” Me: “…….Nah.” *Farms XP.* Present Day - *These things can spawn incredibly dangerous enemies* Me: “……I was very lucky that day.”
To any n all bedrock players who want to get away from the autosave that will kill you via lag damage when you stack up Simply save n exit n then reload, its aggravating to have to do it at all but it will give you the time needed to stack up n out of where ever you are, but it wont last long so ya best hustle

I find 3 shriekers next to a chest and didn't see any sensors so went to destroy one of them and they got a signal. There was an sensor above me. So I go to destroy that and guess what? There was a sensor below me. Now 1 warning left and warden is summoned 😀
As bedrock player, killing wither is the last thing you want to do after killing ender dragon. With these deep dark biome, I just hand the work to the warden and make him work as my wither farm

I’d be interested to see someone like ianxofour make a new xp farm with the sculk catalyst, and bringing up the tropical fish that does give me the idea that you could set up some sort of nether portal link and funnel in spawning fish

Combine the two. Something grows, observer activated by growth which causes noise, sensor senses noise and then causes x to happen

Do you have to trigger the same screamer 3 times? or can it be 3 different in same vicinity?
The warning levels are per world, not per block, so 3 times anywhere at all will do.
