So, I know this is kinda a small complaint in the grand scheme of a show about incest, but I really hate the fact that they added the whole "oh, she's adopted" and "oh, they're just step-siblings so it isn't incest." Beyond being just wrong, it sends the message that adopted family members or step family members don't count as "real" family, which is super fucked up. As someone with adopted and step family members, they're absolutely real family.
Like, this show is already about incest. There's nothing that's going to make it better, so adding all of this insulting "but technically" stuff doesn't make any sense. Just lean into the premise instead of trying so hard to justify the messed up situation. Cause if you're going to do all that, then why not just make it so no one in the show is related at all?!?!
