Here's how I'd "fix" the anime. The first thing I'd do is give a good reason for why all the boys are obsessed with Ema. I'd have their biological father die horribly in an accident. Then Miwa, being so stricken with grief, goes into overprotective mode and isolates her and her sons in a mansion in the middle of the forest. They would have all of their food and supplies delivered to their house, be homeschooled, and have all of the staff be men to give the sons some semblance of a male role model. Then, once Miwa meets Rintarou, and allows her heart to love again, she allows her sons to have more freedom. Little did she know, the damage had already been done. Since Ema would be the first girl that the boys meet that's their own age and isn't their mom, they'd all go feral over her since they've never been socialized around other girls. I'd also have all the boys be teenagers. Like 2 sets of quintuplets and 1 set of triplets. That way, at the very least, their age ranges would be 14 - 17. Isolation plus raging hormones that they don't understand would also explain all of their irrationally horny behavior. I'd also have them only know love and romance through anime and manga. I'd also explore the ramifications of having so many siblings, such as parentification. That's sadly a common thing with large families, especially if the oldest sibling is a girl. There's no way a family that large, with no visible nannies, wouldn't have the oldest siblings be parentified to hell and back. So exploring how their conflicted emotions coupled with the burdens of being the oldest males in the family would make for interesting storytelling as well as further justify their irrational behavior. Most of all, I'd have the finale be that Ema helps all of the brothers get their own girlfriends by teaching them how to behave around girls. That would give them all a reason to bond by having Ema get to know all of the boys and their wants and personalities. Then it all ends with everyone in separate relationships, and Ema is happy staying single and surrounded by people who love her as family.
Make them all adopted with an age range from 14-17 instead of being blood related to each other and let Ema be a young adult who is 21(can legally drink) and give her a strong personality with a moral compass of knowing what's right and wrong. Let her be quick witted and brutal when needed. She is to babysit the boys while her dad and step mom go on a honeymoon then everything you said. That would make for a great show!
Why not have the brothers be half brothers and their dad be a player, who just wound up impregnating too many women before he realised how careless he was and decided to take care of them the as best he could... as many of them got abandoned by mothers unable to take care of them, or their mothers died because of a difficult birth (maybe just having so many kids at once and already being of a fairly weak body did a number on one of them, another one was young and scared, etc). This way they could all be even closer in age, with some being just weeks or months apart, if the father was a major player. The MC could also be college-aged instead - like 19 or 20 -, and the brothers all would range between 18 and 25. Feeling rejected by society because of living their early lives basically as orphans until their dad finally took them in, and also because they developed their own... quirks... which further isolated them, they became very close deciding to rely only on their family. They'd also have been homeschooled for a chunk of their life, resulting in socialising outside of their family being, again, more difficult for them. Instead of their father being the dead parent, their mothers would've never really been much of a part of their life, and instead of the MC having a father, she now has only a mother. Never having had a mother, but always longing for one, the boys take to her easily, finding her intriguing and craving her motherly affections, when the father brings the woman into his house. Finally deciding to settle down, the father marries said woman, and so the MC moved in along with her mother into her new brothers' house. But shortly thereafter, her mother and new father die in a car crash and that shakes all of the siblings, bringing them together, but also eventually creating this weirdly clingy environment where emotions get confused and the mixture of hormones (since, I mean, even young adults can be impulsive and hormonal, brain development doesn't stop until like 25) and grief turns it into something else. This is made weirder and less healthy by the fact that given the first mother figure the boys had died, they moved their feelings subconsciously onto the MC, mixing up several different kinds of feelings with romantic love and lust, because they're young and grieving. And the MC is confused as heck, but being young, she's not exactly experienced enough to know the difference that well either - and we could say she was sheltered. She doesn't know how to react to their advances and so just gives in, unsure what to make of it herself, until later when during her time at college she makes friends who make the point that her relationship with her "brothers"... is not normal. And similarly, through being around her college friends to be with her, the brothers also start meeting people who bring them out of their comfort zone and have them face the facts that they need to move on from this (and that you shouldn't go around acting like a boyfriend towards your sister, even if you're not related by blood). It takes a series of events for them to move on from that grief and realise that what they've developed during that time of social isolation and clinging to each other wasn't the healthiest and wasn't really love, and from them on they all drift apart and start living as mature adults with their own, healthier, romantic relations.
Yusuke is the only one of the brothers that is interesting, because we learned he loved Chi before her being his sister, so him going through the "conflict" of, "this is my crush" vs "this is my sister" makes a hell lot of sense and they should have focused on it. Because it takes time to turn the page, even if you are flat out rejected, but the fact he didnt even get to confess make it likely worse. Seeing him struggling instead to try to be a brother, but having part of the crush part coming out... and ask the brothers (especially the older ones). It would have been a better story.
This, also how he went from having no competition to having to fight for Ema's love against his bunch of brothers 😂. I always thought he was wasted potential, his feelings were solid but he is easily one of the least favorites 😢. Even in the manga adaptation he didn't have much of a chance.
The way I forgot everything about this anime except for his story, like he is the only one that make sense to me. They could have made things more interesting if they focused on him. He was such wasted potential,
@@hamfromhisoutenhonestly same😭 tho I also like Louis, he's very sweet. Fuuto isn't this bad in the game, in fact he's not even that demeaning or harassy and wants to just do his own thing💀 I was shocked playing his route in the game but the dynamic was actually enjoyable I'm still livid Subaru is the canon "end game" of the series tho, HE'S SO BORING AND UGLY BRO😭 JUSTICE FOR YUSUKE
The scene where a fan asks “can you say hi to my mom.” And idol boy says “can you be quiet.” Has the potential to be funny as an abridged series joke. Or possibly if idol boy actually had redeeming qualities.
I think the age gap romances and SA in this anime are bigger issues. Only two of the love interests are her age, and one of them's a creep. One of my personal issues is the fact that her father thought it was a great idea to leave her in a house with a bunch of strange men that she and he for that matter don't know. That is the stupidest most irresponsible thing he could have possibly done. Also, Yusuke is the only one with a brain in that house. Completely understandable why he's upset, but at least he's still nice to her and doesn't take advantage of the situation. Sad how a good character got stuck in a bad show...
When even the Wattpad fanfics, where your mom sold you to a boy band and you're now working as their maid/secretary/$*x slave, are less problematic than your reverse harem anime premise, you gotta do some soul searching... Like, seriously. What were the writers thinking?
I Literally read a Romand mange about someone getting kidnapped by a serial killer (not killing stalking) and it was genuinely less toxic and had more respect between the characters💀 Craaazy
@@aikotitilai3820 I remember the ending or an event with the kid, that have grown up and being like "thanks for waiting" or some shit like that. It was hella weird and sus.
Honestly, even leaving aside the whole incest thing (because you could have literally have had the same plot making her father just send her to live with them for X ridiculous reason, no need to tie them legally like that😭😭), it's very hard to make a good story with soooo many main characters, all attracted to the same person. There's just not enough screen time to develop so many different personalities in a good way AND make them grow throughout the story. To me the best has always been 2 male leads, maximum 3, but even then, it's very hard to handle the story without it being so obvious eho the protagonist/story is actually leaning to, grow them both with good chemistry with the FL, AND satisfy the audience of the 2 sides.
I 100% agree. 12 love interests (not including the 10 year old because that's weird), are hard to equally establish in a story, especially when you only have 12 episodes to do so. All the individual subplots that would need to be introduced to help give these characters depth and have them go through character development, would be almost impossible to pull off because things would just start to get so messy and hard to keep track of. The fewer characters you have, the less mess when it comes to writing. I think the reason why so many otome game anime adaptions end up being so messy or just mediocre is because otome games usually have about 5+ love interests in them and that's just way too many characters to juggle, especially when you also have to consider the main storyline (outside of the romance).
This is what happens when they make otome games animes and try to make it so much like a game. They want you to self insert and pick a favorite but like that only works for games cuz you have the option to get closer with a singular character, which you don't with the anime. This makes the anime like trash disregarding the fact it's legal incest
Well. . .that's what usually happened when you adapt otome games with many love interest. Though even if theres only two or three love interest, the end product still can turn out shitty, with mc having bipolar disorder from jumping between different routes developments(cough, school days)
As a victim of grooming by family, hearing stories from victims having forced romantic/sexual relationships with their family, and seeing the part of the pregnancy, one of the brothers want to have relationships with their daughter. Being handled like it's normal and not fucking wrong make me feel sick.
Their mom literally bought a whole apartment, so each siblings get their own unit if I'm not mistaken. So, unless they're planning to have more privacy or something, there's really nothing wrong with them still living together. Not to mention some of the siblings are still underaged and their mom are always absent, so I guess the older siblings act as the guardians in place of their mother. But one of the character, Natsume do have his own place. MC stayed there when she found out she was adopted and was upset.
Ok, this anime seems like absolute garbage and I genuinely feel bad for Chi, but "can you say hi to my mom?" "can you be quiet?" is the funniest thing I've ever heard
Well, now i just noticed i never really left my reverse harem phase, and for fun and jokes i watch all kinds of stupid reverse harem shenanigans. If you don't take it seriously, it can be so much fun- But yeah Brothers conflict is so comically...insane.
I do the same lol. Me and my sister purposely read and watch trash romance anime, mangas, and movies together just to make fun of them. It's entertaining and also helps to distinguish good executed romance from bad executed romance.
All anime in general gets much better when you don't take it seriously or politically. I don't even sit and seriously discuss anime like BroCon because it's so farfetched and exaggerated.
I usually don't like harem anime, but I love the "self aware" harem anime. Like, Ouran, where Haruhi basically goes "that's weird" once in a while is my favourite kind, lol. Sadly, I can't find a lot of those
@@JDM-is-my-nameHaganai is a great anime for that tbh, the protagonist is super self-aware of the situations he's in lol. Nisekoi too but to a lesser degree. Both 1 guy + many girls, but reverse harems in anime form are rare as it is.
Haven't watched it, will not watch it. But seriously, if any alternate universe where Ema and these guys aren't siblings, only yusuke somewhat seems to be an okay love interest, given they probably know each other from before.
Yeah definitely don't watch it - you really aren't missing out on much by not watching this garbage anime. I agree that Yusuke was the only brother that was decent. The whole sibling thing is still weird and uncomfortable but he gets the benefit of the doubt as he liked her BEFORE he knew they were gonna be siblings. He really got the short end of the stick in this anime lol. Thanks for watching the video!
@@CHABIIICHABIII Yeah, I liked his character. Maybe the reason is because of his hopeless situation too. And no problem! It was a fun watch and I liked it very much.
Can't get over how its called BroCon 😩 Least they tell you straight up what it is. This came onto my recommended and was a fun watch/listen during a drawing sesh! I love long vids that infodump about media I haven't heard of in a fun, casual poking fun way~ (Skipping over the 10 year old was a wise choice.) But frankly, this reverse harem scenario didn't surprise me much. Cuz there's a manga called Me and My Brothers/ Oniichan to Issho, where the little sister is 14 years old and the endgame is 25. And they're her *half*-brothers.
Thanks for liking the video! The trash talking material with this anime is enormous as with a lot of other reverse harems- and yeah I just wanted to pretend that the 10 year old never existed, because the writers just went too far by putting him into the story. I never heard of Oniichan to Issho, but that description sounds horrifying! It really is baffling trying to rationalize who these stories are even written for - they're just so gross and uncomfortable.
Actually, I remembered they weren't half siblings either. The mom was with a different person at the time (I think he's alive and there's a chapter of him reuniting with her) and the girl was so sad she wasn't related to them NOT because she wanted to Alabama them, but because she always thought she was alone since her grandmother died. She didn't have other relatives, so she got scared that as soon as they find out she's not their half sister, they'll leave her. The oldest, who at the beginning actually wanted to be her MOTHER figure because he decided to take care of his entire family, told her she was his sister even if they weren't blood related. (This part I don't remember, but I think either he had a crush in his stepmother, but kept it to himself, or he wasn't sure he wanted to accept her as his new mom) He remembered fondly of the girl's mother after some misunderstanding, but I also think he thought his dad moved on too quick after his mother died. Still got disappointed that he knew her as a little girl and they bunny dropped now that I found out she fell for him instead of some other guy at school. Kinda wanna read it again if the stuff I said was true. I just know they aren't half siblings, but I'd hate to make a mistake because I didn't remembered well. Faster than A Kiss was a mistake too. A teacher married an orphaned student with a baby brother, because she refused to go to school due to how bad her extended family was and she joked saying he needed to marry her and he took the joke seriously and made them wear weird cosplays everytime he goes home. Yeah I don't want to justify that, but my dumbass kept reading it without feeling grossed out when I was younger and the same as her at the time. Didn't help when the principal and two teachers caught wind and the former two joked they needed to hide it better because their wives were students, while one teacher, who was portrayed as the bad guy was the sane one. It's a shojo manga and rumors I read that the author is a man.
@PotatoGurlSasha You're right! I double checked after the fact and around the second volume its revealed that they aren't blood related. Still, the love triangle between her classmate and the endgame was Usagi dropped HARD: 5 volumes in/ pretty much half the series had passed! (They vagued on the third oldest having a thing for her as well but that was quickly dropped as far as I remember) Still, I have a soft spot for it because it was the first manga I read and the relationship she had with her other brothers was actually really sweet. The familial relationship with the endgame as well, despite it being very questionable in hindsight xD Granted, I haven't read it in a long while. Honestly, that second one could work with a bit of retweaking as an unconventional family deal- add an 18 year old son for the teacher to marry off to save the teenage girl from homelessness and you got yourself an arranged marriage to genuine lovers tale with some paternal love in the mix. ┐(‘▽`)┌
@TheTalkingWave Yeah, I like the beginning of the manga too and I read it in high school through a friend who constant buys manga when they get released. I stopped when I stopped seeing that person, so I guess a fade out worked it save me the time XD. Yo the second one I would be so down to draw a one shot. You just reminded me of a manga I read on Kindle. I found out Amazon started licensing manga, first two shojo Mangas I read were nice, third one was total shit my high school self would have liked. I couldn't read past chapter 2. Fucking girl married a teacher who has a son her age and they are in the same class and I betcha its gonna be a love triangle. I stopped caring lmao.
Here's the plot now, Orphaned girl has to take care of her siblings, drops out of school. Teacher who is concerned since she's one of his best students (also the one he knows his son has a crush on) finds out her situation. Gives her an offer to stay with them. Some hijinks go on that none of them can legally adopt the girl and her siblings because greedy relatives wants to take their money and the FL and ML get engage/married to stop the relatives stealing from her, and the teacher's wife takes care of them because she couldn't have kids anymore. FL starts to fall for the guy because how much he helps her in school and with her siblings. They become a happy family lol. Sorry, I'm not the best writer.
Nah, it's still 13 candidates. The squirrel was included in a dream. I also like the twins who were actually triplets but abandoned the third for his mole being in a different place. I'm still a bit confused about their relationship to each other. I thought that they all had a different mom, but it seems they're all from one woman and plenty of different dads. The only exempt ones being the heroine and that one guy who's adopted in. I'm still confused. Cause God dang that's a lot of kids, the mom's the heroine of her own harem. I'd say the only one I felt bad for was the red haired guy, cause he had feelings for the heroine prior to the whole we're all sibling debacle. And still managed to fight back his emotions compared to the majority of his siblings.
Damn red-haired boy is actually the only good romantic interest in this série. Poor boy though. Imagine having a crush on a girl, wanting to ask her out, then she became your stepsister so you're conflicted about the morality of your feelings, thinking that it's really a forbidden love that could never happen. Meanwhile all your brothers only think about their dick and all try to get in the pants of the girl you were pinning for for YEARS when they only know her as THEIR STEPSISTER, and at the end your older brother fucks her.
I was addicted to ouran high school host club back in the day and that led me to searching for any reverse harem and this anime felt like a fever dream. The only reverse harems I can still watch back and not hate are ouran and the wallflower
You should try My Next Life as a Villainous! It’s technically a reverse harem, but the main character is completely uninterested in any of the romantic prospects, and it also includes both men and women as part of the reverse harem! Most of the anime’s focus is on her making plans to try to survive in her new environment rather than the romance lol
@@QueenCloveroftheice Wait that sounds like a good show. I've been meaning to watch that actually but I never knew what it was about. I'll watch it next
I watched this anime when I was around 15 y/o (so prime demographic for this) and even then I just felt soooooo uncomfortable upon seeing fully grown adults wanting to date a 17 y/o, to the point back then I didn't even consider them actual possible romantic leads, I fully believed the male lead was going to be Yusuke given that he was the only one who a) liked her before they were legally related and b) he was her same age. The disapointment I felt when I realized he wasn't even in the race and the groomers had more of a chance...truly garbage fire
so glad i never got into this show during my anime phase 💀 i also started REALLY getting into anime around 3/4th grade, but i grew up watching sailor moon and tokyo mew mew. i’m thankful that i was more into shounen.
You really dodged a bullet that you didn't have to come face to face with reverse harems! - God must have been punishing young me 😭 I grew up in a city where there was like zero anime and manga related stuff, so I really didn't have a reference for what series were actually good. I wish I had known what I know now 💀 Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much! I have like zero experience editing videos, so I'm learning with every video I make lol. Your compliment really gives me encouragement!
I had a pretty strict upbringing when it came to media so one time I asked my mom if I could watch this thinking it was about family not romance. So my mom looked into it and was like hell no, then I talked to one of my sisters bout it and I haven’t been able to live it down her reaction to me saying “I asked to watch brothers conflict” she was laughing saying not brothers conflict so I must live with this shame thank you for listening
Your voice is really pleasant to listen too and I had a lot of fun listening to you trash talk this anime. As someone who is a big fan of otome games, I was thinking about how the otoge Variable Barricade manages to make the silly premise of someone living with their harem actually make a lot of sense (the MC is an heir to an old fashioned family a huge company and her grandfather is trying to force her to pick a fiance) and actually manages to have a lot of really sweet found family moments with the one you end up not pursing a relationship with because all the suitors come to love the MC as a person. I highly recommend it if you have a switch!
Thank you so much for enjoying the video. I'm also a big fan of otome games but I struggle to find good recommendations. The one that you mentioned sounds interesting and I'll definitely look into giving it a try!
@@CHABIIICHABIII thanks for both your replies to my comments! I look forward to seeing you grow as a creator. Your editing is already great. Just wanted to give you a heads up that Variable Barricade does have age gaps with 3/4 LIs so it's definitely not going to be everyone's cup of tea but I feel the way they address the age gaps to be better than a lot of other otome.
I remember two of those triplets were kinda touchy with each other? idk, my memory is all scrambled and, I thought she'd end up with the red head because they knew each other before being siblings anyway, this anime was complete trash.
@@YoosungsMoon nono, I was just trying to recall myself about it. I did watch it a day or so back so I don't remember much of the details but it must've been mentioned in the video. This comment was solely to express my disgust and my opinion on the series.
If it were me, I'd just transform this anime into a romcom more focused in comedy and actual family situations, being dramatic or wholesome. If one of them were to have a crush on her, I'd choose the red haired dude, since they're at least about the same age and might have more in common. Dunno about his actual personality, but he'd of course have an internal conflict about having feelings for his step sister, being confused, maybe a bit agressive sometimes. I'd make Chi more assertive, also.
Not really sure id call Kamisama kiss a reverse harem. There’s only one clear choice that Nanami pursues, though there’s a bit of a love triangle between her, Tomoe, and Kurama since Kurama and Tomoe are both Tsunderes, and then Mizuki’s a simp but he’s never taken seriously as a romantic possibility
I guess Kamisama Kiss can be categorized as you want it to be. It really depends on your own definition of reverse harem. I guess I personally consider it a reverse harem because although the main love interest is obviously Tomoe, it kinda still fits into the trope that most reverse harems have which is the whole one girl surrounded by a bunch of hot guys that the audience could ship her with thing. It really just depends how you see it, I personally don't think that all the guys need to be serious love interests, just characters that the audience can ship her with.
WHEN YOU MENTIONED UTAPRI I FELT SO OLD LMAO AND THIS HORRID MESS OF A SHOW TOO (loved the vid btw) . Also, it'd be so cool to dissect Utapri and how the writing team changed in season 4 lmao (how the writing in seasons 1-3 was full reverse harem, then season 4 went into just an idol show)
Thank you so much for liking the video! I definitely want to make a video dissecting UtaPri, and all the other reverse harems I mentioned in the video! The writing of utapri went into a really strange direction and I remember that's why I stopped watching it after season three. The anime was first marketed as romance and then in season three when the other idol group got introduced the plot just got further and further away from romance and the main girl was pretty much a side character in her own show lol
Dude idk why some shojo out there tries to make us accept these weird grooming tactics as cute and swoon worthy. I remember I used to read Dangeki Daisy as a kid and thought that shit was so cute until I read it again as an adult and wants to call the cops lmao. I’m turning 30 soon and I absolutely feel you on the trial and error bit. It was WORK to be an anime fan back then. A lot of the recommendations I got were directly through friends, whatever was available at blockbuster, and then eventually whatever AMV’s were popping off. You know, IF you could find all 12 parts to a single episode online. I’m so glad streaming is a thing now. Less chances of getting bamboozled like this
In reverse harem, you know the main love interest is absolutely despicable when you're rooting for MC to hook-up with her older brother instead aka Hot Gimmick. In short, Hatsumi is blackmailed into dating Ryouki when he threatens to expose she was secretly buying a pregnancy test (granted for her little sister), and ends with the logic "I'm sure he'll get nicer once we get married". And that's not mentioning all the other emotional, verbal abuse and sexual blackmail he puts her through. In short, the ending pissed off so many fans that the creator approved an alternate universe novel where she does shack up with her brother (granted *SPOILER* he's adopted)
my experience here: looking at the character lineup: ***IS THAT ALHAITHAM?!??!?!*** and busting a lung at the words "Your options are either incest or the squirrel"
Fun (or not so fun depending on who you are) fact, there's an ending in the game where you can get with Azusa and Tsubaki at the same time, and the twincest is *heavily* implied throughout the whole scene Honestly this show feels like a fever dream, but I can't bring myself to hate it because it reminds me of my teenager years 🤣
@@Sonamyfan92 I just saw that one clip of pink haired guy saving/hurting Yui by pushing her to drown then going back for her and it confused my child brain so much. So for a week I kept on replaying the scene over and over again in my head, but this time I'd edit it so he'd never have pushed her in the first place. I looked up more clips about the anime on TH-cam to see if she had other men who'd treat her better and she didn't. I was basically just getting more and more scared with every TH-cam clip and so I'd make fanfiction in my head of them treating her well. I was definitely too young to be watching the show lol.
The only brother I generally was rooting for and understood was the red head bc he liked her before his mother married her dad and if it was me I would’ve said fuck my mother bc why would she do that 😫 REST OF THEM THOUGH EXCEPT FOR THE 10 YEAR OLD : “ur not going to jail, ur going to PRISON!!!” (also I did indeed have a crush on the monk brother for a while 😭)
Like I can see why the 10 year old would have a crush on her it's the fact you can date them in the game which is suspicious af. if it was just a one sided crush I'd let it pass as kids having a crush on someone older is normal. An easy fix would been multiple sets of triplets or quadruplets back to back so they're all within the same age range or make everyone over 18
It was a STRUGGLE to finish this show… but the brother that was in love with her as his classmate first is the only one that made sense & the only one I wish they explored more. The rest were so creepy (esp with the oldest bros) or just uncomfortable.
Wait wait wait. I ran away from romance anime like the plague and when all the fellow girlies of my anime club mentioned Brother's Conflict, I always just assumed the dudes were brothers and that's it. You're telling me the main character is THEIR SISTER??? I just had a very physical "Oh NOOO" moment ngl
I also watched it when I was like 12, and I didn't really watch age, I also I didn't really care, but I think Yuusuke was only a good one. He liked her before they were step siblings, and they were the same age, and I kinda feel bad for him because he didn't do anything(I think so) and liked her before but still his now her step sibling but I think opening rocks
Ouran highschool club was kinda... homophobic and more(ahem, hikaru and kaorus relationship) but hey, it was gold, y'all can't deny it, the author was probably on crack back then. the (pansexual)female lead awoken something in me.
@@matchaleche OH WAIT, SORRY I MEANT A CHARACTER IN THE SHOW LIKE THE BOY(The damn middle schooler aka "bad boy") WAS THE ONE HOMOPHOBIC, NOT THE SHOW, SORRY I DIDN'T MAKE IT CLEAR😭
@@isayshiz3469 haha, it's alright, even if you said the whole show was a homophobic mess, I'm always very open to criticism, even about the stuff I love. And that be said: in the anime series was a nod to the 3rd Reich and the Hitler greeting which really didn't sit well with me (I'm living in Germany and it really didn't sit well with me, because here that is forbidden by law)
Actually, in one of the endings of the game where Chi is pregnant, Tsubaki actually fantasizes about if it's a girl he could date her when she's older (forgetting that this time they ACTUALLY are blood related)
If I had 13 sons or well 12 since the kid is a kid 😂 I would not let my step daughter live with them, same if it was my daughter living with 12 guys like heck no ☠️
I don't seek it out bc even in the best of circumstances it still squicks me out, but I have seen step sibling romances before where I was (mostly?) okay with it because the characters did NOT at all see each other as siblings. This anime time and time again reenforces how Chi immediately sees them as her brothers and WANTS them to be her brothers, and the brothers specially refer to her as family. I don't think I've ever seen another romance that does this??? What a wild decision.
I didn't get to the end of The Wallflower but I remember liking it as far as I did get into the anime. It has it's issues and plays into certain tropes but I think the thing that makes it work is that it didn't take itself too seriously (kinda similar to Ouran High School Host Club). I think that reverse harems that are more on the less serious side and poke fun at themselves are what work best because reverse harem as a concept itself is pretty messy lol. Brothers Conflict was definitely trying to take itself seriously which just made it so awful, especially when you take into consideration what the main plot of it is.
@@CHABIIICHABIII I haven't read the manga of The Wallflower, but I watched both the anime and the live action drama of The Wallflower. I enjoyed both versions of the story because I really liked the comedic scenes and dynamics between Sunako and the rest of the cast. Personally, I liked the live action version more than the anime because it included more character developments/growth among the main characters; it shown extra heartwarming & tearjerking moments that strengthened the bonds between friends and even family members; and reduced the screen time of the The Goth-Loli Sisters (changed to four different ladies/stalkers in the live action) that only appeared for about 2-3 episodes. If I remembered correctly, I think only Kyohei (out of the main male leads) experienced a romantic interest to Sunako. While the rest of the guys treated her as a friend and helped her improve her self-esteem. There were flaws in the live action (few examples include the acting that was exaggerated at certain times, and the misunderstandings in some episodes), but it didn't bothered me that much.
Is that still a reverse harem? Because Kyohei is the only one romantically interested in Sunako (even if the manga ends with both of them still in denial), the other guys all have girlfriends and none of them has feelings for Sunako, on the contrary they ship her and Kyohei really hard 🤣
So, 100% agree this is a trash story. However there is cultural context: in many countries women are to be seen and not really heard. Like the number of time I listened to a full grown woman tell me “ My man best keep me in my place or he isn’t a man!” (Me: “WTF!?!?”) or “I’m to be his backup not his leader. You’ll never find love if you emasculate your man by being strong around him.” (Me again: “WTF!?!?!”) And we’re not just talking about Asian countries…. We’re talking about all over the world! Also age of consent…. Is different world wide. Understand that most Red states have their age of consent as low as 14!!!! Oh and divorce can only be done once the 14 year old (often a girl!!!) is 18!!!! So they have to “deal” with a marriage for 4 YEARS with little to no consent!!! This is a response to male gaze sister lover manga and anime…. Not cool…. But ya… trash.
Hikaru: extremely femme presenting, full on wearing women’s clothes, lipstick, long styled hair, pearls, etc Anime title: BROTHERS BOYS MEN CISGENDER BROTHER MEN MANS MEN there were so many dubiously transphobic “crossdresser” characters in early 2000s-2010s shoujo manga and anime, and they’re NEVER treated as the gender they want to be perceived as or present as, even by friends and family. Really just makes me mad
BRO brothers conflict is literally what turned me off from harems and reverse harems 😭😭😭like i was going for YEARS loving these categories but then this??? nah i was done💀💀
I remember when I was still elementary school that I really enjoyed this anime that I even made my own version of it. The difference was that there were 16 dudes that were not brothers or related to the heroine and she was a dog-walker who cared for their dogs. The premise was that she had some weird curse and each one of them have saved her from some tragedy that altered their life despite no one dying. Even back then, I thought the whole brother thing was weird. It was my first introduction to the reverse harem genre. Then I watched Ouran Hostclub and Kiss Him Not Me. Also My Next Life As A Villainess. Those were the only reverse harems I watched and I realized that the quality of Brother's Conflict was really bad and the art tricked me into thinking it was good.
I also remember making the characters all the exact same age. Like same birthdays and everything because their "fates were intertwined" or some angsty stuff like that. I do remember the blonde monk guy being weird to me because he was older. However I brushed it off because the main character being older than me made me think she was an adult.
Lol, nah. The story really bad and angsty. It was basically a slideshow with really bad bursts of color and no writing. Lol it was very cringe but luckily I lost the drawings because I broke my phone. Trust me, fate did the world justice by completely destroying the evidence
I feel so sorry for the voice actors I will now have this show haunt me for ever finding out this show exists. Also, y'know the kid, the 10 year old....that's Bryce Papenbrook's voice.....I am so sorry
Came across this video during one of my drawing sessions and I loved it, would love to see you make more commentary style videos like this with your humor!
this video was such a fun watch and my god brothers conflict was so much worse than i thought it was. i really thought it was about a bunch of brothers who just so happened to all be interested in the same not-their-sister girl. but no. i was wrong and i wish i wasn't. also, it's genuinely so refreshing to see a video about a series like this and not have the video maker excuse the incest because 'they're not biological siblings so it's okay' so thanks for that
I thought Ouran Highschool Host Club was good. Sure, some of the jokes didn't age well and there are some scenes that are questionable (I'm looking at you kyoya and that stunt you pulled during that bedroom scene 😒), haruhi's personality was a breath of fresh air.
@@eli-jah_ayon I agree. I saw it when I was younger and I can say I truly enjoyed it. It was very fun and ligh-hearted. It's not perfect as you said, but I agree it's at least good. That might be the only one and it's been so long since it came out, I don't know why animation studios or even the mangakas don't see the potential in this type of content.
can we note the mom should chill ? She popped 12 kids and got married again, i swear to god they'll get an additional sibling sooner or later with how easy it was for her to pop 12 kids already (1 is adopted so she only had 12 )
god i love your video. Im not gonna watch this anime, i watched funny edits, but it does remind me how anime; among many other media; tries to convince girls that coercion and humiliation are hot, and that being completely numb and submissive to it it's supposed to make you attractive. absolutely disgusting
I was thirteen watching this for the first time bc I also went through a long reverse harem content phase (still comes out sometimes with manwha) and I just couldn't help but feel bad for the mother who is just looking for a stable relationship and when she got one her son's fall in love with her step daughter 😭😭 bro I'd be so mad The only one I was okay-ish with was with the red head boy because they are classmates and he liked her before knowing they were going to be step siblings
I watched Brothers Conflict when I was newish to anime and it was the first time I had to drop a series. I was sooooooo icked out by the whole thing, especially since multiple of her brothers were too old for her. Like, it's AWFUL that this girl isn't safe in her own home! The only person I liked was the brother who already had a crush on her beforehand because BOY that's depressing, poor guy! Didn't even get to confess before shit hit the fan with the marriage. (Now that I think about it, why weren't any of those brothers married? All those adult sons with jobs and NONE married yet.)
Truth be told, my start in anime was more of shonen, the classic DBZ and Pokemon that aired on tv. Running home to catch the DBZ Kai marathon is a memory of mine. I didn't touch other genres until I entered highschool and I enjoyed most of them, whether they were mainstream or underrated, I liked many. Now, I would only watch the anime once I have a grasp of what to expect from it, mainly watching clips from TH-cam then deciding whether to give it a try or not. Heck, I got into Love Live and Utapri from playing the rhythm games. So, my introduction to this anime was through TH-cam. And I am glad it has no part in my childhood. It would definitely have warped my growing baby brain in the wrong way. Now don't get me wrong I have a few reverse harem anime that I like, Uta No Prince Sama and Ouran Highschool Host Club for example are my top two. This one however gives the genre a bad name. Incest, SA, age gaps, all very disturbing for me, hence why I've never even thought of searching for the episodes to watch it. There's many of other anime that are much worse than this, but just as how I've never tried to search for them, I'll never sit down and watch any episode of this anime. I'll stick to crack videos, summary videos and reaction videos of this, but I'll never watch it on any website. TLDR; This will never be on my browser.
I know this anime sucks but i watched this anime when i was 13 and it holds a special place in my heart 😂 i remember how cringy the plotline was but i cant bring myself to hate it. Its the nostalgia for me!
Hear me out I was 12 when i got to know about this anime and I HATE to say this but i loved it so f much 💀 i loved it sm that i used to draw fanarts most of the time(i still have them), i even memorised the opening and ending.. Okay but…I did too 😭😭 Subaru was my favorite character at 12 too, so I ALSO shipped him with Ema 😭😭 the show was recommended to me by one of my friends lol. Looking back, I wonder why I liked this show at all 💀
Thank you SO MUCH for making this video!! I got so traumatized by animes like diabolic lovers, maid-sama, amnesia etc., so watching someone else point out the weird ass behaviors in infamous animes like Brothers Conflict is so healing to my inner child. 🙏. I can’t believe shows and manga like these were made for middle schoolers and high schoolers, and the fact that I read and watched them at those ages despite not even liking them that much is so sad, looking back😓
Haha, I always regarded this anime not a romance but something to watch exclusively to tell others about how horrible it is. Even if you take out the morally questionable premise, the anime is super boring and the FL is a complete blank slate. I don’t think I liked anyone, maybe louis(?) a little bit, but for the most part the romance was forced. I never understood how and when the doctor, lawyer, basketball player, long haired crossdresser and the youngest fell in love with her. And how tf her squirrel turn into a guy in her dreams and fall in love with her???
I Didn't get into anime and manga till sophomore year of high school. I love Ouran High School Host Club, The Wallflower, Fushigi Yuugi, Uta No Prince Sama, Kamisama Kiss, Kiss Him Not Me, and unfortunately...Diabolik Lovers...ugh....I know. I actually bought Brothers Conflict on Blu-Ray, curious about how bad it is, but I haven't watched it yet.
Love the vid btw!! For the past few months I've been working a rewrite of Bros Con. Number 1: Ema is raised by her aunt rather than rintaro, so that the brothers come from the same father but have different mothers. Bc my god aint no way that women birthed 12 kids! 2: Other girls are going to be living in the apartment with the brothers bc in the anime all of them act as if they've never met a girl before, let alone live with one. 3: where they live is an apartment complex that his owned by their family but the exception for outsiders is that they have to put an application to live there. 4: Brothers like Masaomi is in fact married at the start of the show and is expecting their first child but due to his work as a doctor and he's not living in the apartment the commute is far so sometimes after his night shifts he crashes at the apartment. 5: Hikaru is canonically queer. 6: there is an endgame. 7: Louis is canonically gay and acts as Ema's guide and main source of support. 8: Fuuto starts off toxic but changes throughout but his past actions aren't forgotten. 9: Wataru is female and NOT a love interest. 10: any brother above the age of 20 has no chance. 11: (most important) Ema speaks up and stands up for herself instead of just letting them do or say what they want. ☆Bonus☆ 12: change Julie to a rabbit. (Him being a squirrel was so random 😂) That was just the main stuff I'd change. But the flirting and pushing boundaries being out of the show was a given.
Damn..you watched this when you were 11?? I feel sorry for you. I watched this in 1st year in college and I feel scarred. I can only watch the first 2..3 episodes and I can't watch anymore it's too weird. And hearing the ipening song just jow just re-created the cringe I had at the time watching it. Thanks for that. Your video essay tho, french kiss so good so entertaining. I love it! New subs here, keep up making great vid, sis!!
✨Not going to lie about this anime; I was and is still intrigued. I think being a Hopeless Romantic has something to do with it, but at the same time it was some really questionable and messed up going-ons. Yes, the brothers knew better, but they just didn’t care. But was really annoying was the should I should I not feel bad for Ema. But at the same time it was like; she just let them do whatever to her. Like girl, kick them in the nuts. Then maybe they will get the message. Now; I realized that whatever she did or didn’t do wouldn’t have mattered because the brothers would just continue trying to pursue her. It’s one of those anime where you want someone to pay. Maybe the Creator and Writer knew what they were doing and wanted this kind of reaction. Love it or hate it. This is an anime that will be talked about for years to come. ✨
I saw this with a friend drunk a few years ago, and I gotta say we were losing our minds about the house layout. It’s very inconsistent, to the point we decided it had to be magical or at least sentient.
I don't know what this says about me or anime but this series does not come in the top 20 of worst/most toxic romance anime that I have ever watched. If you want a good reverse harem story then I recommend Men of the Harem. The novel had me laughing so hard, there's action, zombies, vampires, she's actually married to all of them and the reason for doing so (at least in the manhua where it's for political reasons) makes sense and none of them try to assault her. It's one of the few stories that I am actually torn between the men because they love her and treat her well, also they're married so age and consent are not an issue. The manhua has beautiful art but the novel is so much funnier Also I love Yona of the Dawn
I remember watching this show many years back and I rewatched it with some friends a few months back, since we like watching bad stuff and both feel gross and get a laugh through it. And I still have the same opinions that I had when I watched this anime when I was younger. And that it is gross and give these boys class about dating siblings and love and whatever the hell was going through all of their brains and also the people behind this anime.
Yeah romance is one of those genres that's hard to execute without coming off as either cringy or problematic. I personally tend to gravitate towards stories that are more focused on plot rather than romance- or ones where the romance is a cautionary tale or more realistic (series like Paradise kiss)
Really great video! Please do more trash shoujo content, this is such a weird way of going down a memory lane. I remember my friend recommending this anime to me but I never got to watch it. This is the first time I'm glad I procrastinate a lot
i admit i only watch it for the cringe love story, but i will never ship chi with any of her brother who way too old and too young, to be honest the only one i do feel bad is Yusuke because he actually did like her before founding out she was her step sister and the fact they in the same classes together must hurt him, also i never saw Wataru the little brother has a crush, i always though he was just excited to have a sister then a brother and he just love her like a sister
This is why, office girl reverse harems is the way go! (I forgot the name of the otome game, it was on mobile, and it might not be in the store anymore. 😢)
Ngl, I'm really loving watching your videos so far and think they're really good! There's some people on TH-cam that I can't sit and listen through, but you make it funny af. Keep at it dude!!

You should be a writer bro:)
Guys stop. Why're you giving them ideas? ༎ຶ‿༎ຶ
@@js66613 The ending is good. I like it.

Honestly i can see that happening. But the problem is, much like this pice of sad garbage shouldn't neither of them see the light of day. Ever.
That's honestly what it felt like tbh.
It already is

He was such wasted potential,
Yusuke was the only guy I liked tbh because he wasn't a massive red flag.
@@hamfromhisoutenhonestly same😭 tho I also like Louis, he's very sweet. Fuuto isn't this bad in the game, in fact he's not even that demeaning or harassy and wants to just do his own thing💀 I was shocked playing his route in the game but the dynamic was actually enjoyable

The scene where a fan asks “can you say hi to my mom.”
And idol boy says “can you be quiet.”
Has the potential to be funny as an abridged series joke.
Imagine a teenager having more brain than his adult brothers. Well is admirable if he actually try to act decent not like his half brain brothers.
And yet nobody brings up the 11 year age gap between Kenshin and Kaoru from Rurouni Kenshin.
The popstar brother was really creepy, I really felt for Ema. Yusuke was indeed the best.
Eh, i get the father. Like it's pretty crazy to think your now son's are pedos and creeps. However he should have atleast BEEN THERE.
and louie he was least creepy
When even the Wattpad fanfics, where your mom sold you to a boy band and you're now working as their maid/secretary/$*x slave, are less problematic than your reverse harem anime premise, you gotta do some soul searching... Like, seriously. What were the writers thinking?

It's fucking disgusting, what was going on in the writers' head ? I'm sorry it happened to you, I hope you feel better.
Did that actually happen in real life?
why are all these adult brothers still living with each other especially the ones who are a doctor and a lawyer wtf😭
Their mom bought them like an entire apartment building so they live together still bc it's so huge it's called Sunrise 🌄 Building I think 💬🤔
Yeah like they’re already rich to begin with they could all easily afford their own separate homes, multiple homes probably

(They vagued on the third oldest having a thing for her as well but that was quickly dropped as far as I remember)
Still, I have a soft spot for it because it was the first manga I read and the relationship she had with her other brothers was actually really sweet. The familial relationship with the endgame as well, despite it being very questionable in hindsight xD
Granted, I haven't read it in a long while.
Honestly, that second one could work with a bit of retweaking as an unconventional family deal- add an 18 year old son for the teacher to marry off to save the teenage girl from homelessness and you got yourself an arranged marriage to genuine lovers tale with some paternal love in the mix. ┐(‘▽`)┌
@TheTalkingWave
Yeah, I like the beginning of the manga too and I read it in high school through a friend who constant buys manga when they get released.
Here's the plot now,
Orphaned girl has to take care of her siblings, drops out of school.
- God must have been punishing young me 😭
I grew up in a city where there was like zero anime and manga related stuff, so I really didn't have a reference for what series were actually good. I wish I had known what I know now 💀
Thanks for watching!

The fact that Diabolik lovers and brother's conflict was on Hulu at the same time
What
Bruh what?
Just wanted to say that your editing style is really great! I’d love to see more like this from you!
You had a good mother
Your mom is smart.
Yeah. I’m just surprised I wasn’t grounded and she believed my innocence
I remember two of those triplets were kinda touchy with each other? idk, my memory is all scrambled
and, I thought she'd end up with the red head because they knew each other before being siblings
anyway, this anime was complete trash.
I'm pretty sure it was mentioned in the video? Or were they not the triplets?
@@YoosungsMoon nono, I was just trying to recall myself about it.
I did watch it a day or so back so I don't remember much of the details but it must've been mentioned in the video.
This comment was solely to express my disgust and my opinion on the series.
@@ice........... Don't worry you're right, this IS ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. I thought you were trying to add an extra point to the video ^^
I think that he actually have crush on her before she became their stepsister
THERE WERE 4 SEASONS OF THAT SHOW?!
This anime would be a good psychological horror
my experience here:
looking at the character lineup: ***IS THAT ALHAITHAM?!??!?!***
and busting a lung at the words "Your options are either incest or the squirrel"
Fun (or not so fun depending on who you are) fact, there's an ending in the game where you can get with Azusa and Tsubaki at the same time, and the twincest is *heavily* implied throughout the whole scene
Honestly this show feels like a fever dream, but I can't bring myself to hate it because it reminds me of my teenager years 🤣
I didn't hear about this but def remember when diabolik lovers came onto the scene - a truly dark time
I was introduced to diabolik lovers through TH-cam clips of the anime lmao, and yet it was still my hyperfixation for a solid week.
@@ettaetta439 oh my sweet summer child. At least you enjoyed it for that week? Lololol
27:58 bestiality naur not the damn rodent 💀

That made me vomit!
The talking squirrel is the ONLY character I'm rooting from that hellhole and believe me he acted more 'human' than the brothers.
An easy fix would been multiple sets of triplets or quadruplets back to back so they're all within the same age range or make everyone over 18
@@ayajade6683 the easiest fix would’ve just been going with the neighbor trope instead of them all being related 😭

It was a STRUGGLE to finish this show… but the brother that was in love with her as his classmate first is the only one that made sense & the only one I wish they explored more. The rest were so creepy (esp with the oldest bros) or just uncomfortable.
You were literally me when I was younger I've seen so many weirdest romance animes and I ate that up

THE HIT AFTER HIT
Literally there is no break from the illegalness.
I still watch The Wallflower. Hardly anyone speaks of it 😢 It's a beautiful work of trash. I love it.😅
I didn't get to the end of The Wallflower but I remember liking it as far as I did get into the anime.
At least the main heroine in The Wallflower has a personality lol
I love wallflower its so funny😭
So, 100% agree this is a trash story.
However there is cultural context: in many countries women are to be seen and not really heard. Like the number of time I listened to a full grown woman tell me “ My man best keep me in my place or he isn’t a man!” (Me: “WTF!?!?”) or “I’m to be his backup not his leader. You’ll never find love if you emasculate your man by being strong around him.” (Me again: “WTF!?!?!”)
And we’re not just talking about Asian countries….
Hikaru: extremely femme presenting, full on wearing women’s clothes, lipstick, long styled hair, pearls, etc
Anime title: BROTHERS BOYS MEN CISGENDER BROTHER MEN MANS MEN
there were so many dubiously transphobic “crossdresser” characters in early 2000s-2010s shoujo manga and anime, and they’re NEVER treated as the gender they want to be perceived as or present as, even by friends and family. Really just makes me mad
It's a shame that the main character's design is actually really cute. It deserved to be in an actual good romance anime.
Better story. You should publish it👍

My biggest dissapoinment in life is that there is not one single good reverse harem
It's not perfect as you said, but I agree it's at least good. god i love your video. Im not gonna watch this anime, i watched funny edits, but it does remind me how anime; among many other media; tries to convince girls that coercion and humiliation are hot, and that being completely numb and submissive to it it's supposed to make you attractive. absolutely disgusting
I was thirteen watching this for the first time bc I also went through a long reverse harem content phase (still comes out sometimes with manwha) and I just couldn't help but feel bad for the mother who is just looking for a stable relationship and when she got one her son's fall in love with her step daughter 😭😭 bro I'd be so mad
The only one I was okay-ish with was with the red head boy because they are classmates and he liked her before knowing they were going to be step siblings
3:36 I got a mini stroke right here. Whenever I remember that anime, a Microsoft Windows XP shutdown can be heard coming from my brain.
It’s sadly not the worst anime I’ve ever watched, but it’s definitely on the list. I can’t believe I watched this at 12 😭
Truth be told, my start in anime was more of shonen, the classic DBZ and Pokemon that aired on tv.
This show felt like such a fever dream to me. I’m so grateful I can share this sorrow with another person. Thank you. 🙏🏻

every now and then i get the op in my head and im like “oh this is fun! what was this from again?” and Then I Remember.
Because she is pretty and nice. As simple as that💩
Japanese dudes confess to me in just within 1 week💩
☆Bonus☆
12: change Julie to a rabbit. (Him being a squirrel was so random 😂)
That was just the main stuff I'd change.
Fushigi Yuugi was the first anime that my parents introduced to me and my sister, and yeah i was 4 at that time
I remember watching this show while being 12 or 13 and getting the creeps...
The manhua has beautiful art but the novel is so much funnier
Also I love Yona of the Dawn
I felt bad for that red haired one, he liked the mc before their parents got together
I feel the same about super lovers, I'm ashamed I know anything about but I check the wiki page to see how it ended
Just wait until she hears about Vampire Knight
I remember watching this show many years back and I rewatched it with some friends a few months back, since we like watching bad stuff and both feel gross and get a laugh through it.
And I still have the same opinions that I had when I watched this anime when I was younger. And that it is gross and give these boys class about dating siblings and love and whatever the hell was going through all of their brains and also the people behind this anime.
Ngl i skipped the series because some of the age gaps gave me the ick. I never realized she was THEIR STEP-SISTER. MAJOR YIKES
I can’t really watch romance toooooo cringy and I’ll start hacking if I listen to sentimental screens even in contexts
Yeah romance is one of those genres that's hard to execute without coming off as either cringy or problematic. I personally tend to gravitate towards stories that are more focused on plot rather than romance- or ones where the romance is a cautionary tale or more realistic (series like Paradise kiss)
Romance you said? Is it not a horror? how to distinguish predators?
Omggg I want ittttt 😭😭😭 are you sure you don't remember
Ngl, I'm really loving watching your videos so far and think they're really good! There's some people on TH-cam that I can't sit and listen through, but you make it funny af. Keep at it dude!!
