Maybe to some extent. Tom is fortunate to get a head start as a young version of Peter and have a whole trilogy and other appearances while still being in his 20s. But he’s now caught up to Tobey and Andrew at this stage of their careers. All three actors have played a 17 year old Peter Parker. For Andrew, he was 27 in TASM. For Tobey, he was 26 in Spider-Man. For Tom, he was 24 in No Way Home. In his next film, Tom’s Peter will be a college student. For reference, Tobey was 28 in Spider-Man 2. Tom is currently 28 and the next Spider-Man movie is nowhere in sight.
Needless to say, some people laughed at that one scene in Spider-Man 2 where a bystander looks at 28 year old Tobey maguire, playing a college student, and said “he’s just a kid. No older than my son.” Well, Tom Holland can finally share the same fate as him.
You know… Comic Book multiverse stories prepared me for these kinds of changes years ago. I’m not so bothered by the changes, provided the acting and story is strong. ✨✅✨
People didn't hate Affleck because he was the replacement. They hated him because of the terrible Daredevil movie. When BvS came out a lot of people loved the actor as Batman but didn't like the fact that Batman was killing people and this is the problem of the script. The same thing with Pattinson, people hated him because of the twilight and fell in love at the moment the film came out. Almost a billion dollars box office in post-covid era and this is not some multiverse nostalgic movie. TASM had a lot of good reviews, and the second one got a lot of hate because it was a shitty film. Not because Andrew replaced Tobey. Yes, a lot of fans have compared them, but TASM films are just worse than Raimi films in some things. And we can't say anything about the new Superman, 'cause it haven't came out yet. All this complaining about replacement is just noise, we need to see the results of James Gunn's work. This type of hatred isn't permanent at all. If an actor and a movie are good, no one will keep complaining about replacement after the release. Some folks may, but it won't affect the box office and sequels.
AND This is A BIG Problem to the Comicbooks. none of the heroes really age. But with the movies you can grow with them better and the characters become more adult
You can't compare comics with movies, they are 2 infinitely different worlds even if it doesn't seem like it, both have their benefits and defects, then the writers would decide to make a comic series in where their characters getting old, because there they are all separate worlds and that's the cool thing about comics, you have infinite worlds with infinite ideas
X-men soft reboot with First Class exist, and as I see it, people want to see McAvoy's Charles and Fassbender's Magneto as much as Patrick Stewart's and Ian McKellen's version, I would even say McAvoy's and Fassbender's versions more desiring for people as main version then Stewart's and McKellen's. And I think it's happened because of the days of future past, personally, film made me see different actors as one single version of the character (scene with 2 Charles in particular). And as McAvoy and Fassbender became older they became fit for older Charles and Magneto.
This is something that sucks in the comics, that they refuse to let them age even a little bit. DC have finally stopped doing that bs by allowing Batman to be 45-50
I like the points you made, and I've felt the same way about it ever since Marvel announced that Pedro Pascal would be Mister Fantastic in the MCU despite John Krasinski already being in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and being in a huge fancast for the role since 2019. When Robert Downey Jr. first became Iron Man, he was 41and Marvel got 11 initial years out of his performance. I say that because Pedro Pascal will be 50 by the time Fantastic Four First Steps releases, and should he be around as long as RDJ was, he'll be either 59 or 60 by the time his contract ends. I still think Marvel should've chosen John Krasinski since he's still younger.
This really isn’t as big of an issue as you’re making it out to be, sure aging actors is a limitation but one that the movie can take advantage of. One of the main complaints about comic books is stagnation and always reverting back to the status quo, this wouldn’t be an issue for the movies and if they put the right amount of focus and care when crafting the characters they could prop up the legacy characters in popularity, characters like X-23 and Miles Morales have proven very popular and depending how Brave New World turns out we could have a new Captain America that stays true to the character. It’s more work but it can be done.
What happens once miles morales gets old? Spider-Man 2099? No they should just recast the character so real fans can get more stories with their favorite character. I love miles and Miguel by the way but why not have movies for all three? Just recast Tom when he’s too old

The biggest problem with replacing actors has also to do with actors themselves: they demand a lot of screentime with masks/costumes off. Whereas comics and cartoons mostly do the opposite. If any universe could comit to exposing actors as little as possible, recasts would work much better. I understand origin stories and some character moments need the human face to work better, but I dont know, giving more time to the costume would help me easy in to new people on the role
"if the stories are good" exactly. and at the moment this seeeems ... like a pretty hard task ._. back in the days I too was one of those who were like "this this and this has to be accurate or it cannot be good", but today I think an actor has to be believable in a role that's all :D (not very specific I know)
The whole point of the multiverse and Secret Wars is the huge reboot afterwards. The MCU saw this as an issue years ago, everyone else is just catching up.

@@canebatman0 Well yea that's why the character should die instead of the character being reverted to the status quo like in comics. Is just better and more engaging when you know the characters CAN DIE instead of rebooting them to death It's just worse. That's why legacy characters like Wally West work because Barry litteraly died in comics until decades later brought him back for no reason. If they want to make the characters with new actors then let them be an alternative universe instead of leading the character from a previous actor. Tom Holland as a continuation of Andrew Garfield just dosen't make sense, same for Andrew and Tobey that's why they are an alternative universe instead of the same Spider-Man in a universe.
this is a good example of animation being better for longer stuff. animation is not forced to age characters to keep using them or not use a character if the actor is not usable.
The biggest problem is actually twofold: Absolute incompetence by the movie directors regarding the superhero universe + a total lack of imagination ! Add to that CGI effects made by people who clearly have never been to school and to them, the basic laws of physics are something completely incomprehensible 🤦♂️ These are the biggest problems with superhero movies !!!......for me personally
The problem is how long production takes, so they can have as many characters as they do with no effect. Where as in movies adding so many characters leaves less time for each character
People in charge of the entertainment industry, should realize by now, that actors & actresses age, even though their characters barely age. That is why it’s important to have, new actors & actresses, to play different versions of known characters, for movies, and for shows. But the ones picked, to play the characters, must have the talent, to be able to succeed, in playing that role. In addition i think those actors, and actresses, must be able to get along with others, this way no problems could develop.
Very true no doubt, for an example I would love to see Wolverine vs Hulk with Hugh Jackman after that scene...but that can't happen pretty much It's important to say this truly is a noticable issue now because of MULTIVERSE It creates so many genius possibilities, and while Marvel manages to utilize it for an example with Deadpool vs Wolverine and No Way Home,at the end of the day a lot of those potential ideas won't happen cause the actors are human. Let's just enjoy
As you said people will accept the recasts eventually because these actors won't be able to play their role forever and i believe that's why characters like madame web , aunt may and agatha are being played by a young actors compare to the actual character's age , however people must know that secret wars is the last time we will see a lot of faces in their roles

The attachment to actors playing specific characters is both a good and bad thing in my eyes. The worst case of that attachment going too far in recent memory was probably Chadwick Boseman’s tragic death leading to T’challa getting axed in the movies. Boseman was a perfect fit for the role, I will never deny that, but killing the character he played has always left a bitter taste in my mouth. I remember getting yelled at on Twitter for expressing my wish to see a recasting of the historic role. Boseman’s T’challa still had a story to be told, whereas I would say Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine(s) is basically doing a victory lap right now. I was on a tangent again wasn’t I?
8:46 "If the stories are good, people will accept the changes over time." Exactly, different artists draw the comics or animate the cartoons. Each has their own spin on the set of characters. The same can be done in the movies. Marvel just needs time for two reasons. One, audiences need to know the old actors are no longer going to play that character again. This happens in all actor centric mediums including long-running Broadway plays and even in tv shows sometimes. An actor too far away from the believable age range shouldn't get cast again. The second reason is for the studios to take the time to come up with good, compelling stories. They need to quit throwing bad to terrible content out ASAP like wet spaghetti hoping something sticks. Put out a good story, get an actor who fits the ambiance of the script, and the audience will accept that actor/director/artists with accolades.
It’s like Hue said in an interview, Hue can’t play a wizard but Daniel Radcliffe can play a Wolverine… makes me wonder if Daniel is a real consideration by hue
That Superhero physique including Huge's comes from a carefully monitored PED routine and in the long run, it does take a toll. Hemsworth is not the first to refuse it going further. Tom Hardy also did the same for playing Bane and later said he wouldn't be doing that and that is facing health issues because of that. Robert Pattison refused to beef up for his Batman b/c he didn't want to take part in steroid culture & there is also a principle involved that this is an unrealistic and harmful body image standard that Hollywood sets forth.
I like older characters. I don't want to see 17yr old Avengers. X23 was better as a young girl than where she is now. I don't know what I would be willing to like to be honest.
Older characters are fine, but these actors can't play these characters forever. How long can Hugh Jackman keep playing Wolverine? 5 years, if we're lucky?
@@mrheadcannonWell Hugh is in like his 11th movie as Wolverine in over 2 decades, so it’s actually unheard of normally for franchises to even have this staying power. It's kinda why I wouldn't mind if they decide to animate the entire story or whatever in Animation form, with the same style as What IF series. Since they would just need their voice. If not, imitators. We just need the right actors.
What you say is true. Although, this may not be true in the future. With advances in technology, there may come a point where actors image can be acceptably captured by CGI( CGI Luke Skywalker in _ The Mandalorian _ ). We are already able to digitally synthesize actors' voices. Once CGI technology improved, we can effectively capture actor performances indefinitely.
You're forgetting the specific layer of people who are ok with one to a few specific replacements for a booted character. Like people who complained that John Krasinki wouldn't be the MCU Mr. Fantastic
the next wolverine needs to be Danny DeVito, he is the perfect height for a comic accurate Logan, he is a great actor and would work so well in the role.
Best Spiderman = Andrew Garfield Yup that's us. I can't imagine anyone else other than Hayden Christensen playing Annakin. Best Batman = Christian Bale Best Superman = Henry Cavil Don't ask me how. Know this and know peace.
I’m a fan of the characters over the actors. Yea Hugh and RDJ are amazing and will be remembered for years to come, but they are just one interpretation of those characters. They will always be there for a rewatch. I’d prefer to get new stories with the characters I love instead letting them go forever just because an actor ages out.
I mean who else plays Ironman and Wolverine better then these two?? Making a new actor with these characters just dosen't feel right. They were litteraly born for they're roles. Making a character die is wayy better then making characters never age for the status quo. That's the problem with new stream comics nowadays.
I agree with the conclusion at the end buut how is it posible to replace Superman? Like they take usually someone who's similar to replace with the role and Henry just doesn't have anyone who's even close equal.
That is why i respect Robert Pattinson for his physique in The Batman - it's still good and athletic, but realistic, obtainable and didn't require him to go through torture and crazy training. I think that's the main thing that needs changing - all these actors look like they are chiseled in a marble and they push their bodies, dehydrate and torture themselves just for a few shirtless scenes. Don't get me wrong, obviously actors need to look similar to their comic counterparts, but there's a realistic limit to body that doesn't apply to comics.
Bigger problem than aging is actually death of movie stars. There are no new stars to inherit old ones! People are fine with Caval acting as superman, but you need new star for when he get old

Superhero movies should learn from the James Bond franchise. Different actors doing their own, unique takes on the titular character and all great in their own way and beloved by the fandom.
Nobody really complains when you replace Batman or the Joker. I don't even think Superman will be that big an issue. The problem with the MCU is that it is the MCU. I don't think you need a connected universe, My favourite Supehero movie were the Christopher Nolan Batman movies and they had no connction to an expanded universe. If I were Marvel I would just do an Xmen reboot with new actors. Forget the rest of the MCU. You can reboot that in ten years or so with completely new actors.
Heck look at Ross, William Hurt passed away from old age so who do they pick as his replacement? A guy in his 80s. We gonna be right back in the same situation soon.
Secret wars should be send off to everyone, f4 (both the old ones) , fox x men , norton hulk and older hulk and basically everyone is given a goodbye in the biggest cinema event in the history of the world and the biggest crossover ever (maybe in dc is big enough by then , throw some dc cameos too) and then everything resets and the new mcu as young avnegers , xmen , Avengers, inhumans , thunderbolts and everyone already set up (like what dc is doing) and re cast anyone you want to and keep the same actors where you want

Needless to say, some people laughed at that one scene in Spider-Man 2 where a bystander looks at 28 year old Tobey maguire, playing a college student, and said “he’s just a kid. No older than my son.” Well, Tom Holland can finally share the same fate as him.
In the ultimate universe, he literally dies at 16 😭 Bro was only canonically Spiderman for one year
You know… Comic Book multiverse stories prepared me for these kinds of changes years ago. I’m not so bothered by the changes, provided the acting and story is strong. ✨✅✨
People can't accept Change
but Change is inevitable
Not that they can’t, but that they don’t want to.
don’t forget that we also age
DC have finally stopped doing that bs by allowing Batman to be 45-50
You are 100% right.
Just recast Tom when he’s too old
@@spider-jonah-man7148 you’re talking about something that’s going to happen for decades, outside of a small handful most of the actors are young and healthy enough to play their characters for at least another decade or two if they wish.
@@Andrew-Bastin why wait to replace them when time comes tho? when we can have more stories with the originals which people want and have the successor characters at the same time?

In case of tobey, the "many" is probably 80%😅

@@mrheadcannon i am 25, still have to say tobey is my spiderman. I like Andrew a lot too. Specially outside USA,tobeys movies introduced people with spiderman.

Terminator has this problem. That said, Hugh Jackman is probably the only person I would want as Wolverine.
Terminator sequels have lots of problems, Arnold's age is the least of them.
Honestly I think they best way to go about it just do what James Bind does. Just recast and don't acknowledge it.
"if the stories are good"
exactly. and at the moment this seeeems ... like a pretty hard task ._.
back in the days I too was one of those who were like "this this and this has to be accurate or it cannot be good", but today I think an actor has to be believable in a role that's all :D (not very specific I know)
Yo al ver a criticas cronicas en su nuevo canal:

The whole point of the multiverse and Secret Wars is the huge reboot afterwards.
The MCU saw this as an issue years ago, everyone else is just catching up.

I'll take that as a compliment 😅
I surprised you have only 6k subs.
Lets make it higher.
he's not too old. take a look at him. age is a number until it catches up with your body.
now, he was too YOUNG when they first cast him, but that's water under the bridge...
All of this is so true. I really want to welcome such changes with open arms, I mean it really only makes sense to do so, but as much as i try to welcome a change in actor it just doesn't work for me
Then you not really try
Dock Ock in Spider Man No Way Home was too Old but Sony Using de aging Effect for less age, and This present time actually getting works at digital ages
Bro u deserve wayyy more subs than 2k ! Binge hella of your and as a marvel / dc fan they are good asf. Keep the grinding bro !
People should use AI to make actors eternally a set age, so when they get old they can replace their old face with their younger face, or even when another actor replace them they could use the AI face to continue the movies
They should’ve recast T’Challa, he was in like 2 movies
lol I think you mean 4 (Civil war, Black Panther, infinity war, Endgame) And he made more appearances/cameos in other movies.
Also is there even a point of re casting since they’ve already made the second Black panther?..
@@theoshachi he’s hardly in Infinity and endgame. His total screen time is like 70 minutes being generous including all movies
3:14 Exactly 😭 how can fans move on without him.
becauss the point of the story isn’t about aging, there are many stories in graphic novel format which can and probably has tackle aging
Cavil gonna be the new wolverine like shown in deadpool 3
Tbh i like That The actors Get older bacuase then The directors Can make The charocter age and Get wiser over time , lock at spiderman for exsample
This thing is good until the actors are too old to continue playing the character
@@canebatman0 yh
@@canebatman0And if they're too old to play the character then let the character die in some way and then let a legacy character replace him and not just comic book shenanigans where the characters can never die.
@@LuarIbriqi-qf4fh In reality in the comics the Avengers always change, the problem in movies is that the people who replace the old characters are not famous, they are presented badly and then obviously they don't have a good story,a lot of people complain about the fact that there are too many women, I don't think that's the problem, if a female character is done well it's a good character (as happened with Black Widow)
7:51 🤔👂🏾“…Wezley Snipes…” is crazy 😅😂.
this is a good example of animation being better for longer stuff. animation is not forced to age characters to keep using them or not use a character if the actor is not usable.
The good thing is Wolverine was always drawn old. At least in the 20th century. Haven’t read much this century
Damn, your good at explaining things!
The biggest problem is actually twofold:
Absolute incompetence by the movie directors regarding the superhero universe + a total lack of imagination !
Add to that CGI effects made by people who clearly have never been to school and to them, the basic laws of physics are something completely incomprehensible 🤦♂️
These are the biggest problems with superhero movies !!!......for me personally
Totally agree bout BatFleck. His solo movie is an ideal Batman movie. Manganiello as Deathstroke is a dreamcast
The problem is how long production takes, so they can have as many characters as they do with no effect. Where as in movies adding so many characters leaves less time for each character
4:46 in the comics doctor doom became iron man so its a possibility but an improbabillity.
It not canon
People in charge of the entertainment industry, should realize by now, that actors & actresses age, even though their characters barely age.
That is why it’s important to have, new actors & actresses, to play different versions of known characters, for movies, and for shows.
But the ones picked, to play the characters, must have the talent, to be able to succeed, in playing that role.
In addition i think those actors, and actresses, must be able to get along with others, this way no problems could develop.
Loki n thor are the worst ones. Beings that live thousands of years yet thor n loki aged nearly 2 decades in 2 decades
Or maybe not wait 20 years to show a comic accurate wolverine since his live action debut.
Very true no doubt, for an example I would love to see Wolverine vs Hulk with Hugh Jackman after that scene...but that can't happen pretty much
It's important to say this truly is a noticable issue now because of MULTIVERSE
It creates so many genius possibilities, and while Marvel manages to utilize it for an example with Deadpool vs Wolverine and No Way Home,at the end of the day a lot of those potential ideas won't happen cause the actors are human.
@@haiderraad468 It really depends tho a lot of comic book fans and people with an understanding of comics and the characters in general would mostly accept a recast but most casual and general audience members may not be as receptive towards it

Un momento.... Yo te conozco...
Its not just ageing some actors get into trouble like Ezra and have to be replaced as well so many problems with the real world actors
8:46 "If the stories are good, people will accept the changes over time."
Exactly, different artists draw the comics or animate the cartoons.
Yeah, jensen ackles can NOT be the new batman
I would dissagree about that
That Superhero physique including Huge's comes from a carefully monitored PED routine and in the long run, it does take a toll.
The biggest problem is fanbases however as Marvel tried bringing in younger actors after Endgame and everybody hated them for it. Even moving away from Chris Evans because he was done with the character and giving it to his in universe best friend Sam Wilson fans are already hating the movie declaring it’s trash and they won’t see it all because somebody had to play Cap not named Steve Rodgers and the choice was his best friend and the closest to him personality wise, or a Natzi assassin or murdered Iron Man’s parents.

I don't know if im in the minority, but i miss the days when we can have a story begin and eventually end.
I understand why people want their favorite characters adventure continues. But sometimes, its just more satisfying for a story to end.
Tom Holland's hates started liking him when they saw his character suffering. That says about our society.
Really it’s a problems with Vampire franchise movies n TV shows
You're forgetting the specific layer of people who are ok with one to a few specific replacements for a booted character.
Like people who complained that John Krasinki wouldn't be the MCU Mr. Fantastic
That "chicken and rice diet" is hard to keep up with. 😅
the next wolverine needs to be Danny DeVito, he is the perfect height for a comic accurate Logan, he is a great actor and would work so well in the role.
Best Spiderman = Andrew Garfield
Yup that's us. I can't imagine anyone else other than Hayden Christensen playing Annakin.
Best Batman = Christian Bale
Best Superman = Henry Cavil
Don't ask me how.
Know this and know peace.
Well as long as they look like the characters
I’m a fan of the characters over the actors. Yea Hugh and RDJ are amazing and will be remembered for years to come, but they are just one interpretation of those characters. They will always be there for a rewatch. I’d prefer to get new stories with the characters I love instead letting them go forever just because an actor ages out.
I mean who else plays Ironman and Wolverine better then these two?? Making a new actor with these characters just dosen't feel right. They were litteraly born for they're roles. Making a character die is wayy better then making characters never age for the status quo. That's the problem with new stream comics nowadays.
They should go with high budget anime/animations
I agree with the conclusion at the end buut how is it posible to replace Superman? Like they take usually someone who's similar to replace with the role and Henry just doesn't have anyone who's even close equal.
I don't got a problem with the characters aging. It makes them more relatable. Heroes in my stories do age.
People are fine with Caval acting as superman, but you need new star for when he get old
Honestly Hugh looks better after 2000s than he looked in the oldest X-men films
I have stopped reading a comic when they changed artists, but it’s when the new artist is terrible
Idk there is multiple good artists out there but the stories just aren't the same. Is always characters back in they're status quo and never grow up. THAT'S THE REAL ISSUE. Artists have been carrying the comics since decades now, rarely are good stories in the new mainstream comic books.
@@LuarIbriqi-qf4fh that’s not at all what I was referring to.
I am referring to a change in artist, where the new artist is not good, and so even if the writing is good, the comic is no longer enjoyable. Comics are partly visual art, partly writing.
A beautifully drawn, but poorly written comic can be enjoyable to look at, but a poorly drawn/well written one is not enjoyable to read.
@@dw7704 Sp you're telling me a good Spider-Man comic is a Sins to the Past comic?? The art is good but the story is just 🤮. Look at the new ultimate Spider-Man the art is amazing and the story is good too but that is a rare case. Art isn't even the main issue the stories are.
Even the Batman comics look good but most of them are garbage like the Gotham civil war.
Avengers vs Xmen has good art but the story dosen't make sense is bad.
Zeb Wells Spider-Man comic art is atcually decent but the story is garbage.

So you simply only like the comic based on art more than the story and you are implying that there are not good artists in the new media on comics wich is not true.
Dave Bautista said he isn't going to play Drax anymore, and it's partly because he's 55 and he has a hard time maintaining his body fit like Drax.
i dont think you understand the demographics with most movie watchers and comic readers... its a problem definitely but they have expected it... but this is the formula that makes money for Marvel....
Superhero movies should learn from the James Bond franchise. Different actors doing their own, unique takes on the titular character and all great in their own way and beloved by the fandom.
1) They have a billion other heroes they didn't use, 2) Hulk was recast.
It' more of a problem with superhero comics, not really the movies.
I think Judge Dread is the only exception.
I’m a marvel fan and I don’t care who is who as long as marvel doesn’t die
The thing is Hugh Jackman is actually at the perfect age to play wolverine
AI and CGI are now good enough to put anyone‘s voice and face on a stand-in. If one does not want to do that, it can at least be used to age the actual actor down a few years. Hell, it SHOULD be used to spare them destroying their bodies with brutal training and steroids to achieve a certain physique for just a movie.
It is almost like sophisticated makeup, so if Jackman wants to play Wolverine until he is 90, maybe he can 😂.
