Painted my bike white with glow in the dark pigment that glows blue. The idea was cool, but the only time you could see it glow was on dark highways where there weren't cars headlights shining on it.
I did a set of 1st gen Tiburon wheels in white and then painted them with the Glow-in-the-dark paint a few years back. Didnt turn out bad, definitely different but cool idea
Lit or hemway works well, ceya in blue glows but not so brightly, Reynolds advanced product has glow worm they work well for the pricing 6 oz of powder .. try on top of white primer and do a clear coat glow top coat then top coat it should work better .
Those "hot spots" arent from the LED charging an area more. Those are where the glow in the dark clear is thicker. I have ran into this before. just recently did a set of Glow in the dark wheels.
The wheels look great Dave. What color are you going to paint the car? Can't wait to see the finished product. Just chuffed to see what you do with the motor, engine compartment.
UV LEDs would charge those wheels really fast. that and a purple laser but I am not sure what effect it would have on the pigment in terms of longevity

sun give very wide range of wavelenght from ~260nm to ~2500nm with some hole due to the atmosphere(like ozone block UV below 250nm) while white LED, depending of the colour and jonction is verry narrow from 400nm to 700nm spiking at ~470nm and from ~550nm to ~625nm... nothing in the UV and the IR, let them take some sun! But those wheel look very nice and well choosen for the car!
The glow in the dark doesnt show up well on cameras without adjusting the iso or exposure way up. It just isnt usually bright enough for cameras to pick up. I know this because I painted my bike entirely blue glow in the dark over white pearl. We had to shine spotlights all.over it and use a nice dslr camera we could adjust exposure settings on to get it to show up in a picture. I used to carry around a uv laser pointer and let people write and draw on it when i stopped places.I have a few photos of it I got with my cell phone but that was in the pitch black. Also white led lights dont charge glow in the dark stuff well, it isn't about power, it is the wavelength of light they put off. Incandescent or uv light works the best. Get a uv flashlight, they are cheap

Hey dave i have a couple questions about the powder u used for the glow in the dark. My name is frank and i have a sandblasting and powdercoating buisness, we normally use tigrel paint but what do u think itls the best powder to use for big crhome rims

I'm not personally a fan of the color, but I love the idea of glow-in-the-dark. It'd be cool if you were able to get a gunmetal powdercoat and then apply a glow layer to that, but I have no idea if the material is translucent like that. I wonder how well the glow lasts--sure you charge it with sunlight, but then the sun sets and there's a good what, hour or so of dusk before things get to a point where the glow would really shine? Hope it works well, gonna be hard to capture on those little hand cameras you're using--you need a very fast lens to capture any of that light.
This has been an interesting project and I enjoy your builds, but you talk way too much and you tend to ramble. I have never used the forward skip so much!
take the old window tint off from the back window and the rims look good on the car
Use UV (black light) LED or fluorescent lights to charge the paint on the wheels. It'll work much faster and more consistently.

Not getting much of a charge because LEDS don’t emit UV like incandescent or halogen bulbs. 👍🏼 try a fluorescent UV bulb.
also he could get the camera to see what his eyes sees by changing the fstop

It may be tacky but get a set of those wheel lights that go around your brakes so you can charge them up from time to time at night. Just an idea

UV light is what best charges phosphors. Any bulb with UVB would be your best bet. Or our star as it contains the entire (observable) light spectrum.

Alley Builds Montego Blue Pearl would be kinda crazy. Blue and highlighter yellow compliment each other well.
