    Enfield engines are long stroke engines, so they provide very good torque in the low end

    more number of teeth at the rear sprockets and less at the front will improve lower end power delivery. Yamaha did the same with MT-15 to improve better city riding as compared to R-15

      Changing the sprocket might require retuning the speedometer, depending upon the bike, some bikes measure speed from the front sprocket.

    Ktm sells a dongle to save the settings, so that riders don't need to change settings after every switch off.

    To increase low end torque do decrease 1tooth in front sprocket...it does the job.

    Couple of things I want to mention as people constantly keep confusing what Off-road and Adventure mean.
    1. Off-road is a very broad spectrum that includes: Sand, Gravel, Mud, Snow, Rocks and obviously a combination of these. And believe it or not, you don't need 'Spoke wheels' to tackle most of them, unless you are an expert who rides hard even off-road (basically Rallies and Rally riders)
    2. For amateurs like us, Alloy wheels are perfectly fine even on Rocky terrain
    3. The biggest factors that affect a motorcycle's off road capability: Weight, Tyres, Suspension set-up, Chassis, Ground clearance. Weight is the single biggest factor. A light motorcycle is the best motorcycle when riding off-road. And this is even more critical for amateurs as they don't have the necessary skills to tame a big motorcycle.
    4. Adventure doesn't necessarily mean hardcore off-road riding. It has different meaning for everyone. If you are looking for a purpose built off-roader, you would be better off buying Rally style motorcycle. In that aspect, Expulse is the only motorcycle in the sub-500cc category. Even Himalayan is a soft off-roader and touring machine, similar to the KTM Adv 390. Just because it has spokes makes no difference. Moreover, it is almost 30kg heavier and that is a lot.
    This motorcycle is just perfect for Indian adventure riders. Most of us who even ride off-road, do soft to moderate off-roading. The trail in the video would fall under soft off-road. Just because you find it difficult and dropped your bike doesn't make it hardcore. Having a spoke wheel wouldn't change your inability. Without looking at the price, Adv 390 is better than Himalayan as it is a more capable touring machine and would fair similar or slightly better on off-road trails. Expulse is definitely the motorcycle to buy if you are looking at something specific and purpose built

      1. Having seen how KTM's alloys fare with road riding, I'll choose the "or not" option, thanks.
      2. See 1.
      3. Decent weight, decent tyres. Suspension's mediocre at best. Chassis is pretty great. Ground clearance, nothing to write home about. Powertrain? It's beyond rubbish, you've to rev the nuts off it or slip the clutch to keep going. Ever ridden a CRF?
      4. You're all over the internet saying the same thing. A lot of the litre class motorcycles sold here rarely see the track and most don't do even half the speed that they're intended for. So why don't their manufacturers increase margins and handicap these bikes since "90% are not going to be hardcore riders anyway?"
      With the way you're shilling for KTM India, I would hope you have negotiated a heavy discount. Personally I would settle nothing less for shiatsu or a reach-around from your god and saviour Adam.

      @@cyclegear1403 மோட்டார்cycle வித்துgear 1. I have 2 friends who had their alloys cracked and both of them went through a pothole at 120kmph+ speeds and one of them deliberately did that. That's some another level of stupidity for which one can't blame the component
      2. If you need spokes to ride on sand and gravel, okay. I'll stick to my point that spokes are only needed on rocky terrain provided you ride hard
      3. The ground clearance definitely isn't best in class but enough to tackle most terrain. If I am a hardcore off-roader, I wouldn't even look at the Adv 390 or even Himalayan. I'll blindly do for the Xpulse.
      4. Liter class motorcycles are lifestyle products. They aren't supposed to be practical. There's no comparison here. KTM could have very easily provided spokes with tubeless tyres, but that would increase the cost. The cheapest motorcycle to offer that is the Vstrom 650 and it costs almost 2.5 times this motorcycle. If I have to chose between spokes with tube tyres vs alloys with tubeless, I would gladly go for the latter. I know my limits and the alloys can sustain that. Tyre punctures are out of your control. The last thing I want is to get stranded in the middle of nowhere because my tube tyres got punctured. Also I have never come across a single off-road rider who doesn't slip his clutch. The engine has enough torque beyond post 4000RPM to wade through most obstacles.
      And no KTM hasn't given me any discounts and nor I am a fanboy. It's just most people want features that they will never use or don't know how to use while not wanting to pay for it as well which angers me. Like I said, learn to ride off road first before complaining about not having spokes. We aren't buying lifestyle motorcycles to complain about features not provided despite paying insane money

      @@availablehage Hahahahaha, No, I think it's just fruitless to expect rationality fro a zealot. Where would you even begin! Even though multiple people all over the world have had broken alloys, riding in different styles and different conditions, it is somehow universally their fault. Ground clearance isn't best in class in the most expensive motorcycle but somehow "enough", a 4 lakh INR motorcycle is not lifestyle, and he has never come across someone who doesn't slip their clutch off road. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    Bulu bhai for low end torque You can change the Chain sprocket and check... by increasing the tooth of rear sprocket

    For low end torque issue, u can fix a smaller size front sprocket (one tooth less), when ever it is needed. It is easy will take only few minutes.

    As you said at the I feel most of the people will do 80% highway rides and 20% bad roads. And the trails that you showed in video that one will encounter only in Mustang kind of areas. I think roads in Ladakh are also not that bad now. So it actually ticks all boxes.
    Maximum what one can do is purchase and carry bigger rear sprocket and change it once one reaches locations where high speeds are not required anymore.

    आज मै भी टेस्ट राइड किया सिटी में बाइक स्लो चलाने में प्रॉब्लम हो रही थी
    Duke 200 मेरे पास है उसमे उतनी प्रॉब्लम नहीं होती है जावा 42 में तो बिलकुल ही नहीं प्रॉब्लम होती है
    अब कौन सी बाइक लू मै मैक्स 4 लाख तक की बाइक लेनी है मुझे

    uphill ya downhill chadhai main hamesha seat ki height ground se jyada lagega , normal parallel road se. kyun ki slope badhega to per ka point of contact jo normal shortest point of contact se dur jata rahega aur lamba hota rahega. If I could only draw here 3 simple lines. Just use ur imagination.

Pe halka accelator mein engine stall nhi Kar Raha hai my bike also has slipper clucth so but I don't have a KTM)MERE LIYE BHI YEH CHEESE BAHUT NAYA JAISA LAGA... and I love it

      Kiruba Karan your rite atleast 50000. Test rode the adventure yesterday and honestly nothing good about it. If pure road use then interceptor is any day more refined and smooth.

    this bike has tall gears. I have heard it can go upto 30-40 kmph just in the 1st gear. coming down hill even u get a bit fast, its in the range of 1st gear. with other short gear bikes in lower gear the speed of wheel will be less than the speed of bike which results in sliding. Its just what my brain says to me. BIG BIG MAY BE.

    What is that rear tire/sprocket cage mounted to the rear of the swingarm? I've never seen that on a bike before.

      That's a saree guard, it's a homologation requirement for motorcycles in India.

      I would give on road KTM 10 and Himalayan 8 and on off-road KTM 7 and Himalayan 9 coz Himalayan is heavy machine
