Eric Carr, real name Paul Caravello, was the nicest guy. What a sweetheart! He was the perfect band mate. He was a true professional, he never complained, always showed up on time and played his ass off. I, literally don't know of anybody that has anything bad to say about the guy. People like Eric Carr only come around once on a lifetime. I don't think he gets nearly the credit which he richly deserves. I wish I met him, but alas we only have the music and the memories for which I'll always celebrate.
I saw the revenge tour in worcestor the floor was only 3/4 full and there was nobody in the risers or balconies. My friend and I were literally the only 2 people in our whole section stage left balcony so Gene came up the ramp and pointed at us gave us a thumbs up because we were rocking so hard all by ourselves lol
I can care less about every excuse Gene and Paul make about bringing Eric Singer in to take Eric Carr's place in the band as he was in the hospital. It doesn't matter if he was terminally ill or even going for a hernia operation. You don't discard a band member just because you want to record the next album. You wait until he recovers or if he passes away before starting a new album. That is just an example of absolute greed and disrespect. Gene and Paul truly had it coming to them at Eric's funeral.
They dont really need an excuse. They were workaholics, especially Paul. So they went to work like any other person. They could have waited for Eric and in retrospect they admit that. But if they weren't famous, nobody would have cared.

I was 26 years old in ‘91 , and I was on my way to work listening to the radio in my car , then they made the announcement , and on the interstate I had to pull over after I heard Eric Carr died. I cried like a baby sitting on the side of the highway for about fifteen minutes , maybe longer. It crushed me , like many others I’m sure. I never got over it when they brought in a blonde headed guy to play drums. I liked some songs on Revenge , and I seen the live shows. But I hated the drummer. And now to this day , because he wears the cat makeup , I still can’t stand Eric Singer. Or cheater Criss as Dr. Fuk calls him. I don’t have anything for Tommy either. The only thing that brought me back to being a KISS fan was the reunion. And I feel the reason they wouldn’t give any information to Paul and Gene was because they treated Eric like someone they didn’t really care about. And I’m sure Eric was telling the truth. Hey, you left out the fact that, as Gene or maybe Paul admitted in an interview, I think from the 2010s I saw on youtube at some point, that they literally cut off Eric's insurance like a few days before he died; consequently, Eric's family was upset at Gene. There is a part of me that still wonders if Eric Carr would have been able to recover if he had not been given reason to feel that his job wasn't safe. While I believe Gene is as loyal as the day is long, I have never seen anything from that suggests that he is loyal to anyone but himself, and I know he and Eric Carr had been having challenges throughout the HITS tour. I think this is why Eric's family to this day has not allowed Gene and Paul to use Eric's likeness or to produce any kind of a tribute to him. The Elder is one of their best sounding records. I would have loved to work with Ezrin back then. I always liked The Elder. I bought it when it first came out. I dont agree.. For me after the elder , Kiss had 2.5 really good albums. Creatures of the night and Revenge and the .5 goes to smashes thrashes and hits. The new songs they had put on that greatest hots album were awesome.. All the others wee good albums. I know its not the popular thing to think but hey , im a guy who actually loved the Elder... `And every album before then as well.
Love the Revenge album. I personally think it's the last great KISS album a 10/10 for me. Sorry for the Reunion era but Psycho Circus it's fine but not what it could be.

No, grunge did not kill rock n roll. It was another form of rock n roll. You could continue on, Gene--and say the years between 1995--2001 were another downward spiral, with Korn, Limp Biskit, etc. But along came Marilyn Manson, Slipknot, etc. Talk about how rock was partly dead because of stage wardrobe, makeup..Look at Manson. He brought that back in his own way. And no way would the Kiss makeup characters compare for shock value with the masks of Slipknot. Scariest I had ever layed my eyes on..but you couldn't turn away. These things being sad, I still like Kiss, and I like grunge and I like Slipknot, musically. Do I believe Kiss is on its true farewell tour? Dunno, one thing is clear--most everyone survived grunge. It was survivable. And Dave Grohl would come up onstage (if asked😯) for the last Kiss show.

Which was a good thing. That scene was the purest form of rock at that time in the mid-late 80s. Say what you want about it, the fans were rabid, the players sweated and bled and gave it their all. But it was a niche movement that no one else could understand. I would expect the guys in KISS to understand the NYHC movement since they were from New York and were only 10 years ahead of the guys that made that scene what is was. Anthrax was on the fringes of the NYHC scene. Just listen to the S.O.D. album "Speak English Or Die". It was an Anthrax side project and is still one of the hardest albums I've ever heard. It was a mix of punk and thrash. It's pretty much Anthrax with Billy Milano singing.

It is really trashy how they talk about Eric, it is hard to like the two main guys after learning about how they handled the whole situation (for instance saying completely unnecessary things about his dead body at the funeral meanwhile he is worried about how people are looking at HIM during the funeral), and Paul talks so much shit on him in his book, it is kind of shocking that someone can be such a dick to someone they were in a band with for over a decade, and who tragically died. Like it is one thing to say these things privately, but to put all that shit talking in a book???? That is gonna be around forever and Paul is really not going to look......already does not look good! Paul....get some damn self awareness, even at Eric's funeral you think you are the center of attention like WTF. I do not like this band anymore.

No, grunge did not kill rock n roll. It was another form of rock n roll. You could continue on, Gene--and say the years between 1995--2001 were another downward spiral, with Korn, Limp Biskit, etc. But along came Marilyn Manson, Slipknot, etc. Talk about how rock was partly dead because of stage wardrobe, makeup..Look at Manson. He brought that back in his own way. And no way would the Kiss makeup characters compare for shock value with the masks of Slipknot. Scariest I had ever layed my eyes on..but you couldn't turn away. These things being sad, I still like Kiss, and I like grunge and I like Slipknot, musically. Do I believe Kiss is on its true farewell tour? Dunno, one thing is clear--most everyone survived grunge. It was survivable. And Dave Grohl would come up onstage (if asked😯) for the last Kiss show.

@@DrJ-hx7wv In a way. Punk finally found it's way like a Tetris piece. The NYHC/Straight Edge scene was NEVER going to go mainstream. They didn't want it to...and gatekept it for years. Which was a good thing. That scene was the purest form of rock at that time in the mid-late 80s. Say what you want about it, the fans were rabid, the players sweated and bled and gave it their all. But it was a niche movement that no one else could understand.
I would expect the guys in KISS to understand the NYHC movement since they were from New York and were only 10 years ahead of the guys that made that scene what is was. Anthrax was on the fringes of the NYHC scene. Just listen to the S.O.D. album "Speak English Or Die". It was an Anthrax side project and is still one of the hardest albums I've ever heard. It was a mix of punk and thrash. It's pretty much Anthrax with Billy Milano singing.
