Here’s my Mark St. John story, it’s in six parts. (bear with me, it’s long, but it’s a trip.)
    1) 1978-ish we were starting a new band with a guy named Shannon Anthony on drums.
He kept saying he was going to bring down a friend who shredded a well as Eddie Van Halen
“the dude can play 64th notes” he said! Well, he brought him to a practice and the dude was crouching in the corner listening, he gets up, WHILE WE’RE PLAYING, and walks over to our bass player and proceeds to turn one of his tuning pegs about a quarter inch WITHOUT EVEN ASKING
as if to say “ahh, now it’s perfect.” That story got a lot of laughs over the years, THE AUDACITY!
    2) About 1984 my mom, who worked at Interstate Electronics, asked me if I knew of a band named Kiss. “Haha, of course I do, mom.” She says “well, a man I work with, his son is in Kiss!
I said “really, what’s his name” and she says Mark Norton. I laughed and said “I don’t think so,
there isn’t a “Norton” in Kiss.” “Maybe he’s pulling your leg.” We left it at that.
    3) Early 90s I was at a friends house in Garden Grove, he says “hey, Mark St. John from Kiss
is coming over" and I said "OH, COOL"! I was sitting on the floor of a bedroom playing a Flying V and in walks this dude who says “hey fret-man” kind of cocky and I look at him and point, he kinda straightens up and gets ready for me to “geek out” but all I say is “whoa, do you know a guy named Shannon Anthony”? Haha, after the wind goes out of his sails he says “boy, that’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time.” I proceed to tell him the story from part 1 (the tuning incident) he laughs and says “yeah. that sounds like something I’d do.”
    4) Two weeks later I’m over there again and my buddy says “Marks coming over” I say cool. We’re all talking in the kitchen and it hits me, I point at him again and ask “HEY, does your dad work at Interstate Electronics”? (see part 2) Mark just looks astounded, shakes his head and laughs and says “YES, he does.” I can tell he’s thinking “who the F is this guy.”
    5) A couple days later I’m over there again and my buddy says “come on, we’re going over Mark’s.” So we go over there and we’re hanging in the garage BS-ing and telling stories, I ask him about all the Kiss stuff and what they’re like ect. Then he says “hey check this out”, he brings out this box FULL TO THE BRIM with photographs (a good size box.) The FIRST PIC he takes out, he says “here’s a weird one, this is me at the NAMM show with (someone)” (I wish I could remember who it was) he hands it to me, I look at it and I say “hmm, that’s not what’s weird about this pic, what’s weird is THAT’S FREAKIN’ ME STANDING RIGHT BEHIND YOU” ! He grabs it away, looks at it and says “OMG, that IS you. Our minds were blown, out of thousands of pics, he grabs the one that I’m in. Like our live have been paralleling each other for twenty years.
    6) Sometime in the 2000s, I’m now an avid vinyl record collector. I have ads out that I buy record collections and I get a call from Garden Grove to look at a collection. You guessed it! The neighborhood looked real familiar and I already knew..kinda. The garage is open and there’s this rocker looking dude standing there, it’s Mark’s brother (his bass player.) Mark had passed away and they were selling some stuff. I bought his records and got to play his BEAUTIFUL Taylor guitar. I would have loved to buy it, but it was just too much money. Of course I told him this whole story and he was astounded, and low and behold, his dad was home, so he called him to come out and I asked him if he remembered my mom and of course, he did. Hope this wasn’t too rambling.

@@ocdigger I love stories like this. The ones where it’s almost serendipitous, where things just happen; you just never know. And years later, in the retelling of the story, everything seems to fall together and click and a person like me gets to hear a little piece of unknown history that never would have (or should have) been known by anyone outside of a very small circle of people, but here I am, knowing this! And it doesn’t give me much, other than enrichment…lol…and I like it a lot thanks brother

Hello fellow KISS fan! Before I forget I dig the hoodie or I think it's a hoodie. That album is kick ass all the way through. Their was an enormous amount of soulless 💩 released in that era but there was also some funky, dirty, sleazy, gnarly rock with LA Guns first album being some in my opinion anyway. I became a KISS fan when Asylum was the current album. My mom let me pick out a cassette tape in the like $1.99-$3.99 section at Roses store and it was Love Gun. I got home, grabbed my walkman, jumped on my bike and when the 4th track played my life was forever changed! Ace Frehley took Motley Crue down to my second favorite at the time and I had to get a guitar. Animalize was probably the 3rd KISS album I had. Around that time I got an Animalize flag in New Orleans ( I wrote RIP Eric Carr on it after seeing a MYV News clip saying he died, before the Internet days) I kept until I lost everything in a house fire January 2017. It's hard to think about everything I lost but I had the Epiphone Ace Frehley cherry sunburst, a white page poster intact 1977 KISS Marvel Super Special blood in the red ink and literally several huge plastic totes of KISS items. Over 3,000 original pressing, limited pressing you name it vinyl records. Fire got so hot it melted my mom's urn and I couldn't find a trace of it. Anyway I'm just blabbering now, I'm learning some things I didn't know about Mark. Cool video. I will hit the subscribe button. Merry Kissmas to you!!

Cool. The most comprehensive account of Mark's life is his best friend sitting in on the weekly webcast show Three Sides of the Coin for a good hour and a half. Eddie Coralnick.
He was exaggerating a lot. And M. Brandvold asked maliciously:
"Oh, Mark St. John saved KISS?"😂.
I still wonder about Eddie's reaction to the Peter Criss accusation. They asked him. But as if it was nothing special to him.
He only said Mark was in "bad company".

"Creatures" weren't promoted to the extend it deserved, because Mercury had just signed the band after they left Casablanca Records, and had a policy of not funding the necessary promotions of newly signed bands, irrespective of past history. That's why it initially did so poorly, since a lot of fans, (myself included), didn't even know it had come out, until coincidentally stumbling over it at the record stores, much later. Thought you'd might like to know.

Is this still in Peter's book?
I would expect Mark's brother, who was with him in The Keep, to sue Peter to delete it. One explanation can be:
There are other witnesses! And Mark's family doesn't want publicity about it when they threaten Peter with a lawsuit.
In an interview they asked Mark's former manager Eddie Coralnick about this accusation.
    His reaction was very avoiding.
The Keep demos are not a "disaster"!
Mark and Peter wrote a fantastic song "Between the Lines". And Peter sounded very positive in the talk after their live performance. In 1990.

The Keep was basically White Tiger rebranded with Peter Criss. Mark St.John (Norton), his brother Michael & Dave Donato were the core line-up of both groups. On the contrary regarding Norton's prison assault, it's been widely reported that he was attacked because he stole food from other inmates. But perhaps he was too embarrassed to admit the truth to his then-girlfriend & the "snitching on a drug dealer" story sounded noble & justified. Unless it was his own crack-dealer he dobbed in as some type of plea-bargain to reduce his own sentencing? That is plausible. But I don't believe for a second that Peter Criss would have ever flushed an 8-ball of cocaine down the toilet. More like up his nostrils! It was such a waste of talent. Methamphetamine destroyed Mark in the end, addicts lose their souls to that junk & it was a very sad demise for him RIP. I have the Poughkeepsie 'Off The Soundboard' disc too & it should be noted that the awful 'guitar solo' section features Paul Stanley playing, not St.John. Paul blames everyone else & was just as disrespectful as Peter was in his own autobiography, especially in light of the late great Eric Carr, who Paul & Gene Simmons treated horrifically immediately before he tragically passed away RIP. That alone made me lose respect for them, however I would recommend reading Paul's 2nd book instead of his 1st as it is a much more positive experience.

    • @HappyMachorino-bd8no
      @HappyMachorino-bd8no 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

The manager Larry Mazer took the responsibility for Eric's treatment.
It was him who didn't want Eric's drum solos. And he feels sorry for the criticism Paul and Gene get because of his decisions regarding Eric. The interview was on Three Sides of the Coin.
The story about stolen food may be true. But why such an extremely brutal attack? It would be more plausible: They found child-photos. This would explain the brutality.
      The truth we'll never know.

So you claim you have no respect for Peter Criss because he blames everyone but himself for everything … and you quote Paul Stanley unironically in the same video? 😂😅😂

    • @HappyMachorino-bd8no

Paul once said, he wants to make his own decisions. Then he knows his own mistakes.
Bill Aucoin confirmed The Elder was a Bob Ezrin project. Bob Ezrin took the responsibility for the "failure" in an interview with Eddie Trunk. Do you blame Paul?
Paul even wrote about his first marriage that he had wrong expectations.
Most of all, if he was not able to realize and correct his mistakes he never would have been successful. So what's your point?

How did MSJ afford heavier drugs if all he did was odd jobs (mowing lawns, etc.)? He must have had a drug problem already??

As much as I love animalize Mark‘s playing on just about anything else is somehow terrible. It’s not focused. It’s not memorable.
