    21:30 Seeing the ridgeline and windfarm in the background, I have a pretty good idea of your campsite location. 😊 Thanks for the review.
    Edit: The outro confirmed it. I hiked that ridge (next to the paved road) in June. Amazing flood terrain.

    Finally a review were someone takes it on down the road and little off road...kudos!
    And laying down inside with a medium size dog really showed me the room this had... much appreciated!

    Great review and I appreciate your honesty. I am considering this or the Boreas XT. At 62 years old I'm tired of sleeping on the ground and spending a lot of time setting up camp. This type of camper would be perfect for me.
    BTW, as a person who has had dogs their entire life, you can tell Charlie loves you.
    Thanks for making this video and sharing it with us.

    • @OFFTHEGRIND
      @OFFTHEGRIND  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both are solid choices! I will say that the Boreas' interior seems to be a little more put together, but I think with the stuff that mammoth has added to the interior they are rivaling it now. But I love my Mammoth and would do it all over again for sure.
      The feeling is mutual for Charlie! He's such a great dog. And thanks man, I am glad you liked it. I hope it helped you.

    Nice vid! Like the relaxed atmosphere of the presentation. Noticed that Charlie likes being part of the action around the trailer. I just got an Escapod this winter and waiting for the snow to leave and places to open up. I tend to be a minimalist and don't have very many bells and whistles on mine. Just finished packing the thing. I'm kind of an old guy so I tend to like a little warmer weather than you young whipper snappers. Really enjoy you perspective on overlanding!!!

    • @OFFTHEGRIND
      @OFFTHEGRIND  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Escapods are pretty sweet! And yeah, Charlie definitely likes being part of the action in any situation haha. I just like getting out whenever I can, but I am definitely ready for some warmer weather. I have not been kind to my body with the years I have on me so I feel the cold for sure.

  • @slandshark

    Awesome review, thank you! We are a family of 6 looking for sleeping/storage solutions for overlanding. We'd consider an overlanding trailer plus a big roof-top tent (parents in the trailer, kids in the tent). I love the swing out kitchen, I've been shopping for similar setups on a hitch, so I like that idea transferred to the back of a trailer.
    Are you still enjoying the trailer? We are also live on the west side of the cascades. The main concern I have with a trailer (something you mentioned in the video) is the ability to turn around on narrow roads.

    I had to go back and watch your trips with the HV and this main review of it. Love the new tallboy, however the weight of it towing with our Jeep and Bronco is unfortunately too much for us to wrangle with. I think… this is going to be our go to trailer soon. It’s just enough, with a perfect size, weight and options. ❤

    Great review, best looking trailer I have seen so far. A price that makes sense and equipped fit for purpose rather than a pimped up machine.
    I suspect the design with limited flat surface may assist with cross wind.
    The only thing that baffles me with most off-road trailers is the tyre choice.
    Unless it’s your desire to match with the tow vehicle, agressives treat patterns bring zero advantages in terms of traction, while increasing rolling resistance, unsprung weight and fuel consumption
    The counter argument is puncture resistance.
    Commercial truck tyre in LT construction are robust with equally high tyre walls.
    Am I missing something here?

    • @OFFTHEGRIND
      @OFFTHEGRIND  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s an excellent trailer for sure and I think the shape does help with crosswind. As I said, I didn’t experience the trailer being pushed by the wind like others I’ve towed.
      As for the tires, I’m sure puncture resistance has a lot to do with it. But I know I have had the trailer and some decent off camber situations and I would imagine that aggressive tread pattern has helped in those situation. Not to mention these tires are a lot better at not collecting rocks and mud like other tires so they are less likely to get caked and lose traction that way.

    I just stumbled upon your video as I'm researching overland trailers; thinking I'll put Mammoth on my short list. Real nice job on your review, the trailer features were well covered and your choices of outdoor background shots were exceptional. One question re the small upper windows on each side: Do they have privacy shades or are they essentially boat type portholes? Lastly, nice choice of single malt scotch for your evening cocktail. Glad to see you didn't pull out a blend and ruin the ambience! 😄

      Hey Ross, I’m glad you found this video helpful! Honestly I love the mammoth and the team behind this amazing product makes it that much better. They were amazing people to work with. The windows do not come with privacy shades. But I build some using sheet plastic and a spring loaded rod to hold it up and il that was perfect.
      Also, I hope you stick around the channel! I could use a man like you here with good taste in whisky!! Lol

    Hey great video! So its been 2 years and i was wondering if you have been having any of the issues with your trailer that others are continuing to have even on the new units.
    Bad rust on steel aspects and i still dont think they powder coat.
    Camber and allianment issues with Timbrens. No crossbar being used
    Condensation issues
    Leaking gaskets
    Strange heater that is only rated to 5,000 feet of altitude

    • @OFFTHEGRIND

      I actually sold mine, but have been in contact with the owner ever since. He had issues with the timbrens, but to my knowledge that is the only issue.

      @OFFTHEGRIND you seem like a straitfoward guy! I would read through the FB group before you get another one unless it's for free. My guess is that TL is going to be a hot mess. I bet if you ask the guy you sold it to thier will be rust

    • @OFFTHEGRIND
      @OFFTHEGRIND  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @bartman1857 I was actually allowed to take the tall boy out recently and it was awesome! Has some electrical gremlins to work out, but they are busily figuring that out before production begins. They have been really open with me about the challenges that they’ve faced in production and are constantly trying to get better. With the hub issue, they even sent a tech out to someone on the road to fix it.
      I had the AC unit on mine and it wasn’t sealed properly so it leaked. They took it back (met me at work to pick it up and brought it back to me) and fixed it. It was flawless after that. My water heater also burst over the winter as water in the lines froze. While that was my fault for not purging the lines, they paid for a new one for me as they “didn’t provide instruction that I needed to, or how to”.
      I’m not going to say they’re not issues with the trailers, but these guys stand behind them, will make it right, and will constantly push themselves to create a better product.
      Curious what the experience people are having with the newer HVs. Mine was trailer 5 off the line so some kinks were being worked out. I’ve personally only heard of issues on the earlier production runs but I don’t know

    • @bartman1857
      @bartman1857 หลายเดือนก่อน
