8 years ago i was given 2 months to live and was rejected by a detox center because of how high risk my detox would be . I was a heroin addict. Was in septic shock at the hospital. When I overdosed and died I repented when i saw blue like a fire , not light and peace or whatever people say they see. "even in the depths of Sheol you are there" Hashem told me id need to choose t be clean and continue to my life. I came back to life, and everyone mocked me as i kept saying Hashem would save me. Feb 17 2017 I simpy never used again Baruch Hashem. I earned my Ba in Psychology. I remember when i was using and I felt barely human there was only a spark that kept me alive. I placed all my hope in that spark. I knew it was not mine.
It is good for my that I was afflicted for I have come to love Hashem's ways. Now i know that spark was the piece of Hashem. I tell you the rest of me was totally destroyed. And somehow. HE restored my soul. I am now raising my little Jewish boy, who knows that every morning we only made it to this moment because Hashem had compassion on me. Bless you rabbi and Meaningful People podcast ❤

I’ve had major depression and anxiety attacks since I was my early twenties. I’ll be 84 next Friday and have been on meds most of my life. The dr said his wife took Valium so it wasn’t addictive. They really didn’t know then. I went to groups, different therapist’s and did talk about it. My mother didn’t have time to be a mother because I lost my father when I wasn’t yet four. My grandparents were murdered in the holocaust so I never had anyone to really talk to as a child. We lived in different homes and orphanages until I was 10. My mother loved men so she was only home on Sunday. She wasn’t affectionate with my brother and I . I blame her for the terrible childhood we had. Constantly getting evicted from apartments in ca. we lived in Brazil where I was born because they left Germany in 39. She verbally abused me so badly and people told me to forget about it. I couldn’t. Maybe I’m wrong but how do you forget it when your own mother says “ I wish you had gotten kidnapped “ when I begged her to stay home when someone had followed me from a movie. She got mad at me after my stepfather died and said she wished I had died and buried next to him. I didn’t go to her funeral because she was buried next to him where she wished me to be.maybe she didn’t mean it but it really affected me in the worst way. Funny thing is I never told her I hated her because I didn’t. I needed her. I always tried to please her but it never worked. I’d buy her a gift I knew she wanted and she’d exchange it. She was in a bad accident when she was 99. I didn’t have the heart to put her in a home so I brought her to my house. There’s more but can’t keep writing. Thank you for this program and I hope to hear from you so I can see if the last chapter of my life could possibly be happier. Shabbat Shalom! ❤️🇮🇱

You are so special and the fact that you are listening to classes and growing at 84 says so much about who you are
That is a very rough childhood. One thing I learned that helped me a lot, and I'll share it in case it might help you, too: "It's never too late to have a happy childhood." That means that you can now give yourself everything you wish your mother had been healthy enough to give you. There are therapists who do that kind of work, and there are workshops/seminars. It doesn't matter how old we are, the healing we do lifts the world around us and makes a difference. Good luck! I hope you find the strength to heal that pain... it's really possible! (Ask Gd to help you... it's amazing how that works.) Big blessings!
Dear Silvia, I do hope that you can
become free of all the pain inside. And I believe it is possible. In the Bible in the book of Psalms it says that the Words of God are medicine. That they can heal us with peace and rest and joy. Take His words like you would take 3 times a day .
Fear is the tool of the enemy, to prison you.
But God is there to set you free❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
In His love their is no fear. Look to Him, speak to Him, read His word and ask for His Holy Spirit to help you.

Our community is under tremendous un sustainable financial stress due to our lifestyle everyone has tremendous anxiety due to the financial stress. Nothing will ever change if we dodnt change anything to address this problem!!

What the rabbi said was beautiful, but, our generation focuses more in mental health than any other in history, and it's made us more damaged. Therapists want you to stay forever to make more money when studies show 7-10 sessions is the most ideal. Antidepressants in a recent study were shown to work as well as a placebo in 80% of cases.
When I was depressed I was determined not to be. I got sunlight and exercised and tried not to focus on myself so much and with the help of 4 or 5 therapy sessions, it worked.

'Yiddishkeit' is a warm, loving old world term that connects our past with our future.
Right. But our future is not being in Galut and our mindset must get used to living in a Jewish State, a homeland, not a cosy congregation. For sure we are living in a time of transition, it's not easy. But that is the ingathering of the exiles. That can give so much to all our personal struggles. That is the truth.

The the homosexual-there needs to be a practical side! This person cannot get married because it’s not allowed! You’re not mentioning that. And that needs an answer. I would love to know what the rebbe would have answered to that.
I was thinking the same thing. The brochur is a homosexual and that is the reality of the situation. He did not really answer in a practical way of what this boy is supposed to do. “Overcoming his challenges” is not an answer.
There's a book, Judaism and Homosexuality written in 2004. I ordered a copy. The author is knowledgeable Rabbi and is very empathetic and not judgey on the topic. There's also a very good podcast on the topic by Dr. Michal Prins but it's in Hebrew. Also, Intimate Judaism deals with it.

A true Rabbi or Torah Jew will look right past superficial looks, the core of the Jew (EVERY Jew) NEEDS and even automatically owns a connection to Torah. Woe to the Torah being reduced to superficial assessment. Earth eyes see NOTHING about holiness and closeness to G-D. Tanach teaches us that Even Shmuel haNavi was unable to see via looks. The Rebbe was,and this talk is almost exactly about this point.

There should be proper respect given, specially to a guest Rabbi. This idea you can be casual in any setting is part of of degradation of society we have been experiencing. The Rabbi is not your buddy, he is a representative of Hashem and Torah.
@tomjohns8691 I wouldn't justify disrespect, but if we as mortals would really appreciate the greatness of G-d and His Torah then there is no dress code or setting that is adequate to match the value of His Torah ever. The sages teach that Tirah was given "...with shuddering and sweating..." and that is also therefore how one must learn it now. Those levels are amazing and bring along the fire of Sinai and the entire enterage of Heavenly hosts along with it as the Torah was originally given at Mount Sinai... but even those who don't own a suit or formal wear can and should learn Torah. An interview with casual wear (not swimwear or beach outfit) I feel is not disrespectful for the register here. They aren't opening up seforim in a Beis Medrash) and it certainly allows the un-uninformed Jew to feel welcomed and belonging into G-dly/Torah/Rabbi discussion. Which I think is the whole point of G-d/Torah/Rabbi = EVERYONE NEEDS Torah connection their life, Torah IS life. And Torah speaks to every Jew. But lack of 'frum' garb is (for my understanding) such a non-issue. And I'm sure the greater the Rabbi eg. The Rebbe himself and Rabbi Jacobson etc... the less the garb is even noticed. And certainly Hashem, sees straight to the heart, and no amount of dressing up can cover the sincerity or deviance from G-d or from the truely G-dly. But absolutely, I agree, intentional disrespect is not good, but I see zero of that here.

The idea that you should lower the standards to accommodate the masses is a failed experiment. It's called reform Judaism. Sages state "Derech eretz kadma l'Torah.
HaVaYaH is not God. God is not mentioned anywhere in Torah because God cannot be referenced. Even now I am referencing your notions about God.
HaVaYaH is the highest level of holiness in the Creation, not God. You've been worshiping HaVaYaH as an idol because you are removed from holiness. I'll show you in the Hebrew response to this message.

This is not apikorsut. These are among the correct revelations of the Name HaVaYaH and the Name Elohim that, when realized, make Holiness really real to us in Creation and allow us to enter a world that is entirely Shabbat as we live in our Holy Bodies.
