How to buy a full face helmet || Bell Sanction Vs Fox Proframe

  • We had a trip planned to Thredbo a couple weeks ago and needed some full face helmets. Luckily we started look a good month before our trip.
We ended up purchasing the Fox ProFrames from our LBS - The Bike Shed Mortdale after going through many online purchases and visits to 99 Bikes. Biggest lesson: Don't buy online and don't skimp out on a full face helmet! Your life is on the line and comfort is key since you'll be in it all day.
ALSO!! Many 99 bike shops are fine, awesome even! Just the one we went to was in the city and they hate on mountain bikers.
    Fox ProFrame Pros:
    A light 750 g for a size Medium
    MIPS technology
    Magnetic buckle
Comes with 3 different pad sizes within the helmet to customise to your head size
Very breathable and easy to drink from your hydration between runs
Many stylish designs to choose from
Let us know if you've got anything you'd like us to review!

Mt Keira is the place to wear the full face kit. Mountain Biker abuse is not to be tolerated!!!! Love that shirt Dave - Almost time to go to Canada. Suggest; More structure on the pro's and cons and then your personal preferences. Keep up the good work. BTW can I have the spare helmets.

I bought a Corolla for 30k but it just didn't have the same power, comfort or features as the 490k Mercedes S-Class. So I took it back to the dealership and told them the Corolla should be just as good for a fraction of the price. They told me to take a hike.
The Bells great for the price...

jamlee344 yeah I hear ya. I should have given it more of a try. Just it really didn’t feel good on my head.
The proframe has been really dependable though. I’m on my second one now. And I ride with it all the time. Feel way better taking on black diamonds in a full face. But feel I can ride all the trails in between with the ventilation of the full face. So I’ve come to wear it way more than I was every expecting. Not sure if that would have happened with the bell?
Cheers for checking out our worst review ever!

I've been using a Bell Sanction for 2 years. I ride very often, more than anyone I know, and I find it to be very comfortable.. even on 8 hour riding days. I do not have any painful spots or over heating issues. AND I am a bit sized down (I'm between a M and L and have the Medium). Some do come with quick release clips as mine does rather than the D-rings, not sure if they make both version each year. Eventually, I may "upgrade" to a different helmet but it would be only for aesthetic reasons. There are certainly helmets that look better. In all. it is a great helmet, especially for the cost. The non-removable pads have not been a issue for me, there are no unpleasant odors. I highly recommend it.

I should also mention that the Bell Sanction is my ONLY helmet. 2 years and it still looks and works as new.

Your Fox helmet is sized too big by the looks of it. It should be nice and snug and press your cheeks. By the way, the Bell Sanction is a good helmet for the price. I'd rather take a cheaper well sized helmet than a more expensive ill fitting helmet. No, I don't have a Bell Sanction.

I got that exact same Fox Proframe, $225 off some ebay store at the end of 2019. I don't know why but Fox must have been dumping that colour/size. It was just too cheap not to take the punt and it paid off. I've got a tiny tennis ball sized head and the small was a good fit.

I just think I’m not used to full face yet, coz it’s easy putting it on, and it feels a bit big once on but I tighten the wheel and it’s fine, but when I take it off, I loosen the wheel and take it off but it feels like I’m ripping my ears off, kinda painful. But otherwise I love my new met parachute mcr mips

Cheers for watching. Only thing is I'm not religious. No God in my life. And I'm not dissing the Bell helmet iit is good value. It's cheap. I was just of the opinion that if you are going to try to ride in hot weather. Then probably invest in the lighter one, that also has ventilation. I didn't intend to offend anyone. Just trying to help people make a decision. There's no way I could ride in warm weather in the Bell helmet. And also we don't get anything thing from bike shed. They are just a local shop

  • @akirahans

The "horse riding belt buckle" is the most secure in the industry. They are used for mx and motorcycles in general. What the hell are you talking about. I don't expect you will enjoy your fancy magnetic clip failing when crashing on the black double double diamond trails you are talking about. Please educate yourself before you spread false information.

Dude I’ve split a helmet in two. I have the helmet still in the garage. But the strap was good. The clip is good. It’s been approved by the Australian standards commission, to be a safe helmet. That’s really cool ya very keen on the buckle clip. Each to there own dude

@@PedalCrusaders to each his own indeed. It's all personal preference. But double d-buckles save many lives. You are entitled not to like the Bell helmet but please be aware that you have a big audience and people must know double-d buckles are safest for downhill and are not for "horse riding". Hey brother, cheers for having a watch. Apologies it was a bit shabby. Too much coffee & filmed before going out riding. Yeah it would have been better if we had planned a little more. Then it wouldn't be so choppy. And I've been meaning to write in the description, many 99 bike shops are fine. But this one was in the city and they some of the workers hate on mountain bikers. Thanks for the comment, just reminded me I had to add that disclaimer!
