Of the helmets mentioned, my partner and I had the Fox, IXS, POC and Smith here. The POC didn't want to suit either of us. One size was too small, the other too big. In terms of quality, however, I found it to be non plus ultra and would have taken it immediately if it had fitted.. The IXS didn't seem to me to be of high quality and not very stable. The Fox is simply super expensive but couldn't really convince me with the wearing comfort. We both ended up buying the Smith Mainline because it fit super well. He sat tight without pressing. The only drawback for me is the safety lock. That's always a bit fiddly with gloves. But it is super ventilated and was very convincing when pushing up and driving up the trail. Please check out the FLY Werx-R w/ AIS - adaptive impact system & Rheon impact energy cells. It's super light carbon fiber love this helmet. Would like your thoughts though. Great work y'all. Keep it up
Wat color is tge trigger ff on the video
Can’t believe some of the best aren’t on there. Fly and Bell
I have the POC in a medium and yes it's really tight at first but after wearing it around the house and rides it down fit lot better
😢i have a medium too just arrived today wow it fits tight and im size 56, hopefully it becomes more comfortable hust like you said
@@NoahPARK82 it will. Take the cheek pads out and wear it around
@@kmsbailey405 thanks for reply, can i just ride with this without the cheek pads? i just tried the thin chick pad and its stil too tight and hard to get in and out😢
@@NoahPARK82 is it tighten? Try to adjust the thing at the back of the helmet and make sure you push that black thing down that cups the back of your head/lower neck
@@NoahPARK82 and yes you can ride without the cheek pads. I did/have especially during the summer months
are these helmets good for use on a surron/ talaria style riding?? any recommendations?
We'd likely suggest at the minimum a full on DH helmet, but likely a moto/DOT helmet would be a better choice.
Does the 7IDP allow for goggle to get tucked in under the visor? It seems to have such little space there.
Thanks for this list, but what watch is that on your wrist with the nato??
Thanks for watching. It’s a 90’s era TagHeur.
Fantastic video!! Curious, what conditions you found the Smith Mainline warm in? I find the Smith Mainline to be pretty good at cooling. I've worn it pedaling through the summer here in the humid southeast USA.
You totally forgot the Dainese linea 01! Lightest DH helmet,(like 570g) I love mine, ill check out that newer fox though.
There's still not many NTA 8776 Rated full face helmets yet.
Poc otocon and smiths mainline (updated/Cert ) are nta8776)
@theloamwolf could you guys do a review of the fox racing 2024 rampage full face helmet 🫶😁
There’s one live on our site! Www.theloamwolf.com ✌️
Does this list still stand today or are there new contenders?
Some of these helmets look great. My main issue is there is limited choice for me. My head size is 64 cm. So most of these will succeed in squeezing my skull. Stinks though. Would've loved that Leatt one just to be able to take the chin guard off.
TLD fan but the Fox looks good.
Yes, where would you rate the TLD within this batch?
@@rrolleman4879 they did it last time. It's more of a lightweight use it for every ride kind of helmet if you wear a full face no matter what.
Can I use my motocross helmet for downhill
Technically, yes. It just may be a tad bit heavier and warmer than a DH full-face.
why TLD Stage helmet not in the list?
No Troy Lee?
A nice helmet would have built in speakers for music, calls, notifications from my garmin indicating heart rate, upcoming turns, and a walkie talkie option with friends amdof course mounts for a night light. All that under 800 grams. Maybe a there is a market for this since ebike is the future
I bought a Smith and love it.
Awesome to hear and thanks for sharing.
Any noise from the liner ? Thinking about getting the Smith but lots of reports about annoying ‘squeeking ‘ ?
No Specialized Gambit?
We're not fans of that helmet and opted to not include it. We enjoy lots of Specialized products, that helmet, sadly, isn't one of them...
@@TheLoamWolf Curious as to why? I have had/tried a couple of helmets on the list and felt the Gambit blew them all away.
@@TheLoamWolf That's unfortunate. The only thing I was able to gather in the comments is that everyone in the crew had a difficult time putting the helmet on/using it? Could you give more clarification, please? I will be goin to a LBS to try on the Gambit. My second option would be the Proframe RS. Anyway, thank you for your time and your great videos!
I ended up getting the Fox Proframe RS, based on your review. Cheers!😀
Where's the Bell helmet?
Can you please give me a link to the cheapest one
Great video Drew. Your knowledge and comfort in talking about the products make this interesting and informative. Also loved that you had negatives to talk about. Does POC stand for Piece of Crap? haha jk
I'm looking for a minimalist urban full-face helmet for an e-bike. Everything I found so far screams downhill while what I really need is something sleek that still gives me the extra protection e-bike that goes fast and zips in traffic (in my mind) needs. Any ideas?
I am in same situation, what did you end up getting?
Why can't they make any good hybrid helmets where you can take the face part off when you want to pedal, and put on when downhill?
My poc otocon says it has mips Integra
Great review, thanks. I need a warmer helmet for cold weather, what would you recommend?
Leatt would probably be the best there! Followed by Smith
@@TheLoamWolf Thanks Drew. What about others not in this review? Would the Leatt still be a top choice?
I like that helmet a lot. Super comfy so yeah probably would. Maybe the Giro switchblade also.
@@TheLoamWolf Ok, thanks. Keep up the good work I appreciate it.
@@TheLoamWolf Ok, don’t laugh, I decided to use clear packing tape and I taped up the vents on my Fox Proframe. 😂 I’ll give that a try with my biking beanie. That’ll save me a a lot of $.
Uhhh Troy Lee Design Stage????
Dude, do you use hair spray or is it because of the helmet? That hair style is 🔥
Haha. Murray’s hair pomade. $4.99 a can and stays in your hair for at least a week. Been using it for 18 years, I think my hair is officially trained.
Hey, would you recommend any of these helmets for BMX? I understand that that's not their intended use, and that's not what your channel's about, but a lot of BMX riders wear downhill helmets, and I see that these ars DH certified
If you're talking BMX racing at a track, the Giro or Leatt and 7iDP would probably be my top picks for that.
The problem with leatt is the size, they use south afeican size chart and to be a M size as an north american, prob that helmet fit is an XL or so
I also use the 7iDP Project 23 with serts. I’m normally a medium too, but a small in this. It’s a great helmet. Super comfortable 👌
Thanks for sharing!
at that high price, must be super premium
just in time :D
Kali Invader 2.0?
We had that helmet on the first one we did. Great for those looking for very ventilated helmets
I have same size head as you and i can’t find a helmet that fits well with goggles. They all seem to push down on my nose.
Have you tried different types of goggles? I don’t have that issue but usually ride in Oakley, Smith 100% and Leatt goggles. Although I’ve recently started running Fox goggs and pretty impressed!
@@TheLoamWolf just oaklies and poc with fox dropframe pro
Hola mi cabeza mide 58.5 cm y casco Oneal Sonus de downhill dice q de 57 a 58 es M y de 59 a 60 es L jaja. No tengo como probarlo ya q es venta online. Cual deberia elegir?
Hola Francisco, disculpa nuestro's espanol!
Drew
@@TheLoamWolf Hola! Jaja esta muy bien su español, gracias. Que significa "7iDP{"?
Specialized Gambit 640g in M
Too bad i did not see TLD D3 or D4 helmets.
Dainese Linea 01
I have this helmet and am loving it! It’s the lightest full-face helmet you can get.
interesting why MET is not listed here, not the worst helmet either
also, if you ride with your buddies, the chin grill is a must, as some staff can be flying into your mouth from the buddy's wheel. Just good if you have an option to equip one
thanks!
