    About 5 mins ago DICE clarified these changes due to the massive freakout from people lol. DICE said that your reticle will always be where your bullets are going, so these changes are likely just visual now. Thankfully they did clarify quickly.

      @@primemachine146 BF1 was not always a masterpiece, though. It had growing pains, and bullet deviation was wildly unpopular and led to many leaving the game.
      I agree, though, that BF1 is a masterpiece of a game (I think it's the best of the series, but that's my opinion), even with some of it's flaws.

      @@verenov77 bf1 at launch was for me very very fun, the bullet deviation was abit annoying but it felt right in the game, whereas in bf2042 when you experience bullet deviation it just feel wrong and I can stand it in this game

    They're clearly using BF2042 as a testing platform for the next Battlefield, it's so obvious. That's why they're testing random core features modification so late into the game's life.

      Yup. And I get feeling that the DICE devs noticed how popular are those "mil-sim" servers and decided to pivot the gunplay into something like CSGO or something like that.

    Feels like bfv all over again. Hey guys we released pacific and people seem kind of happy and we promised not to mess with ttk again but we decided to change all ranges and damages around, hope you enjoy this change no one asked for.
    Making it more random will not affect the casuals, only the precise players will notice everything f ing up their aim.

      i don't that's something that can be fixed sadly, at least not in this game. Hopefully next bf (if it doesnt flop} will either be on an new engine they build from the ground up that isn't a pain in the ass the work with in terms of coding. basically its like the game for it to good ie optimization runs just flat not better with higher fps bc we don't get the fps we should, maps not baren textureless wastelands stripped bc 128 player push that the servers can't Even handled properly (they had to reduce tic rate from 60 to 45) either let alone an engine that should've been retired long ago

      @@michaelc5027 what makes you so certain? not that i disagree as in it Wouldn't surprise me but the engine with idk overhauled (idk how much longer they can do this as the engine it just far to old) with at least decent net coding and game optimization across the board, like BFV imo shit hated it but the beta compared to bf2042 beta(really was still alpha status as something actually worked better, and were balanced better in that that Then official lauch an ex would be borris turret " no its fine doesn't leave it" and then they were like "um or lets just buff it yeah no year lets makit it a 4 shot will more health" but my real point was in bfvs beta i was geting idk 144-200+ fps in it and bf2042 was 100 sometimes get to 110/120 Max and dip to idk 80ish so i hope the 128 implementation was why and it is a core reason so hope designed around 64 players again will be enough. bf has always had bad launches any bf player knoww this but dude 2042s launch state rival's how bad cyberpunk was its in that how can this be that bad unbelievable category

      @@iDeparture I work in game dev and have friends that either currently work at, or have worked at EA studios. EA has invested a great deal into Frostbite and it has become EA's house engine which they push on all their studios as much as they can, as this allows them to avoid having to pay licensing fees to the likes of Epic (Unreal) for example. Also, DICE is Frostbite and Frostbite is DICE, and even though it's a massive pain to work with (especially for other non DICE EA studios), DICE calls the shots and changes on that engine, it's their baby. Finally, it takes around six years to build a new engine from scratch, so I would strongly wager on the iteration and updating of the Frostbite engine rather than all out replacement.

      @@michaelc5027yeah i didn't expect them to. like you said its not like they can just throw one together from scratch like a quick patch or even a rushed game and definitely don't wanna spend to use a third party's engine i agree, they'll use frostbite. i guess well see how it turn out since that only one of the main factors that will determine how the next title turns out.

    Disagree with you that every weapon needs to behave the same.
    Every weapon is different so it’s logical they would behave differently.
    I think what you meant to say was that they need to make sure each weapon behaves consistently

      i think this is a response to criticism. i remember seeing a LOT of complaints saying that all of the guns feel the same, so i think this is dice trying to make them unique. its that simple.
      Enders says not a single person asked for this - which is technically true - but a WHOLE lot of people indirectly asked for this

      Bf1 didn't have rng bullet deviation lmao. It had set and predictable spread values. Only retards who didn't understand spread and spread increase per shot thought it was "random". The thing bf1 DID have however, was awful visual recoil. Luckily, you could run an overlay to ignore it. Not the case in this game because the bullets follow the reticle.

This is a big step in the right direction. Anything to make the game feel realistic compared to what we currently have is a win. Should have been in the game from the start but better late than never!

      ​@@KirklandShunk the visual recoil in bf1 was one of the worst aspects of the game... but at least your bullets were center tied, so you could run an overlay and ignore it. In this game, the bullets start center tied, but they follow the reticle. So if the reticle is bouncing all over the screen, it's going to be cancer.

      Doesn't look anywhere as bad. BF1 recoil tricked you into thinking you need to control your weapon but it was mostly spread. 2042s still has a recoil pattern to control

      I'm sorry I can't see the connection, in bf1 you could at least notice the visual recoil, here I can't tell on the smgs. Plus it takes some focusing to actually notice the lmg visual recoil as it blends in with the recoil.

    Decoupling from screen centre is baaaaad news. It’s BF5 all over again.
    This is an awful change.
    Next they’ll bring back randomised recoil (don’t you dare DICE!)
    Still nothing about fixing the mouse and controller input either.
    So they make changes like this, yet they can’t be bothered to fix the broken input after 2 years!
    I wouldn’t be surprised if it ends up being reverted like the ADS changes with the extended and drum mags.

    With spread, sometimes the reticle is where the bullet will hit and sometimes it won’t. That’s just how spread works.

      Visual recoil isn‘t spread. They are two separate mechanics.
      Spread adds random bullet deviation but still uses your crosshair and reticule as the main point of reference, so in general your accuracy still benefits from having the crosshair locked on your target.
      Visual recoil adds a random element to the visual representation of your crosshair which is way worse because you cannot trust the point you are aiming at anymore.

      I know the difference, but you cannot use “the bullets land somewhere different than the reticle” as an argument against visual recoil when literally the same thing applies to spread.
      Personally, I hate having high spread and low visual recoil cause it becomes trivial to keep reticle on target but bullets fly elsewhere.
      At least now I’ll be able to “see” more recoil, which helps justify the bloom that they are actually using to hit their engagement ranges.
      High bloom alone just feels awful.
      To be clear, I’d rather have high recoil (real random recoil), but we don’t have that coming any time soon.

      Adding fake visual recoil and keeping high spread isn't a good solution.
      We need actual recoil, less spread (but enough to make burst fire viable) and barely any visual recoil.
      But yeah, probably won't happen because they don't want to screw over controller players.

      I agree. They're just adding a look to something that I feel shouldn't be in a game.
      I think it would be cool to get a game where there's no randomness to where your bullets go when firing.
      Wether you're ADS or not, moving or not, your bullet is going to go in the direction that the gun is pointed when fired. The projected crosshair when not ADS will be a dot that shows where the barrel is pointed.
      I know that probably won't happen, and that's fine. It's a game and it doesn't need to be realistic, but I think it'd be cool.

    Before judging I'm looking forward the release of the Season 7 (if it ever releases), to test how far these changes will impact the game, something for sure is that the time they spent on this could've been allocated to season 7 content and maybe we could've got the season 7 out already, instead of putting resources into such/major change that don't know who asked for.

    Let me start with this: NOBODY ASKED FOR THIS.
    - This is not why the guns feels like airsoft guns most of the times. One of the problems is the lack of proper recoil and the other problem is the sound that is really bad, very mushy, dry and they have no weight on them physically.
    - Look COD for example, most of the guns feels great to shoot when you pull the trigger because they sound big, it's almost like you can hear every piece of the gun moving in a slow motion video but all at high frame rate, it's punchy. But the visual recoil still the worst part of the game... well 2nd to the aimbot assist
    - Some of BF4 guns had the same problem. Was an overlooked problem because the gameplay was a big success for everyone. BF1 they nailed down the sound, BFV was horrible apart from a few guns, BF2042 the SCAR and the SWS are the only good ones and the rest looks like you are shooting plastic bullets.
    - Now, in BF2042 we gonna have guns the sounds bad and shake bad while shooting. And why they show in iron sights when you generally feel less the visual recoil? SHOW IN WITH A PROPER LOADOUT!
    - The worst part is seeing some of people praising them for it. And they will choose these little ones to show how success it was the implementation of a visual recoil and how the community "REALLY" asked for. NO. NOBODY ASKED FOR. These same people that is gonna praise visual recoil now where asking for other things previously, they were not even thinking about visual recoil.
    - They were like: "Oh man would be great to have Op. Metro again. Would be great to have the FN FAL from portal. Would be great to have the BF4, BF1 maps on Portal"
    - Then DICE give something that they didn't asked, they like the change because "muh immersion" and they will be hit things anyways because aim assist or will not hit a thing after fire 200 round proned LMG and goes: "Yeah much need change, make the game more realistic. When i fired my PKP back in the range was just like shaked all over the place and i didn't put bullet on the steal target"
    - Reality reality =/= arcade videogames
    - "MUH IMMERSION" options on the configurations settings so i can toggle on or off.
    - Day in and day out and i don't have patience anymore.

    What's funny about the season only having two new maps, is that there really isn't any "more" content than we've already had. It's been 4 maps a year (1 per season) and season six has lasted pretty much half a year.... So it's not like we're getting "more" content, it's the same amount of content....

    This is a positive change, guns in this game feel like airsoft toys and it's way too easy to spray targets at long range. This isn't a hyper-competitive twitch shooter, plus bullet spread is already in the game like you said so it's not like your gun will be any less accurate.     The spread never got fixed in the first place, to be fair. At random moments after not having fired any shots for a minute or two, I can stand perfectly still, be crouched, look at the torso of a target who is perfectly still and doesn't know I'm there, hipfire on a gun that I know can hipfire decently within 10m and not be able to hit the broadside of a barn.
    Gotta be honest, more spread is the solution to the gunplay. Even after implementing "bursting" in 2042 a few seasons ago, you never burst fire outside extreme distances. Everyone is still magdumping. And no, microbursting isn't skillful or in-depth. It's braindead. BF1's gunplay should be the model for how the next Battlefield game handles weapons, at least as long as there's a high TTK and bipods can't laserbeam you to death very quickly from a long distance.

    battlefield 4 fixed the problem, shake the scope frame a bit, and add a touch of smoke and muzzle flash, and recoil but keep reticle dead center.

Clearly they are trying and actually acknowledged the fact that all guns should feel unique and not the same. This is a big step in the right direction. Anything to make the game feel realistic compared to what we currently have is a win. Should have been in the game from the start but better late than never!

    The devs don’t appear to be connected with what the community wants.

    Definitely a good thing in my opinion. The slight jittering isn’t something I feel will reduce my actual performance if they aren’t changing actual recoil patterns. This is a great thing for making the guns actually feel like a gun

    Why can't they find a decent weapons designer for an FPS game?
    Are all FPS designers this braindead? Even a 16 year old sweatlord would do better at this rate.
    - IRM
    - Bugged spread on launch
    - Awful balancing
    - Recoil bugs (fixed entirely?)
    - Weapon sights not tied too screen centre properly
    - Added extended ADS times for drum mags (was reverted)
    - Buffing the VHX unknowingly (was reverted)
    - Added spread / bursting so poorly that the game was better without it
    - (YOU ARE HERE) Adding visual recoil + whatever else they have done when nobody asked or wanted this

    Love it, anything that makes Johnny the lvl 12 sitting on a cliff with an LMG from 180 meters away harder for him to aim is a + for me. The game is mid, I've said it for such a long time.     I welcome this change if done right. 2042 did not have enough. BF1 had good visual recoil. If there is one thing i like about COD is that guns feel better. MW2 has way too much but mw3 feels good. Im pretty sure they will have a off switch anyways like the run shake animations. How will this affect jumping while ADS ? . I hope badly. Two type of players in BF. I am on the no bunny jumping sliding grasshopers team in BF. If it really make the guns better and unique and adds a learning curve. Why not? If it discourages beaming people across the map on full auto. Why not? It may just bring 2042 closer to previous titles.

    They dont make updates to dead games.
    I dont know why they don't look at other things that affect gunplay.
    Weapon weight having a modifier on movement for example. I know an LMG shouldn't be as easy to run and gun as an smg. But currently is.
    Classes could mitigate a weapon's downside modifier, but not completely negate them.
    Audio improvements would also be a welcome change to the uniqueness.

    This disproportionately effects mouse and keyboard because mouse and keyboard players have to intentionally adjust their aim in order to aim at targets whereas you do not need to do that as much with controller because controller has aim snapping aim assist and rotational aim assist so the game will follow the target for you instead of you needing to manually move your mouse. I think DICE did this because one of their lead devs got smoked a few too many times by skilled mouse and keyboard users and is mad because they are a controller player and cannot handle real displays of skill

    One thing I wonder is, of the people at DICE that play the game and those that test changes, are any of them good at the game? I don't mean like a 4+ K/D demon, but like is anyone even like a ~1.5 K/D? I feel like changes like this seem like they'd be cool for players that are like 0.7 K/D - those players don't notice because their mechanical skill is too low to matter. For those who have competent gun skill though, the very description of this seems so obviously negative for gameplay integrity and feel unless the changes are so subtle that they're essentially meaningless, at which point why bother?

    Change for change's sake and nothing more. I'd like to say let's see how it feels in live play before jumping to an extreme conclusion, but this is clearly an idea that is polarizing at best, and likely to be overwhelmingly negatively received at worst, and something that I highly doubt any actual player of 2042 was asking or hoping for. Extending season 6 by so long, you'd hope to be blown away by every aspect of season 7 - instead, it's.... super exciting changes to visual recoil lol. (I know S7 will be more than just that) Anyone ever hear someone suggesting their favorite FPS or 3PS game to their friends because of the recoil being super immersive? I will NEVER understand how so many game developers can be so out of touch with their own games and the people who play them.

    idk man I like those changes. Visual recoil and shooting animations are a huge part of weapon immersion, to the same degree as sound design, even if it makes shooting your gun seemingly more random. Of course the sweatier players won't like this change because it could destroy their 5.0 k/d but the filthy casual player (the majority of the player base) who doesn't care about perfect recoil control, every bullet connecting and headshot streaks will appreciate the change.

    2042 guns got no kick, they need to be changed. it will have no negative impact to most because the game is not meant to be competitive in the slightest, and any change geared toward making the game feel more competitive instead of more immersive is heavily misguided. The feel of weapons has sucked since day 1. if they could get weapons to feel like they do in MW, that'd be great.

      Borderlands guns feel somewhat immersive to shoot because of their sound, mechanical and visual design. They're definitely not realistic though. Shooting the Bastard in Metro 2033 felt immersive because the insane muzzle flash lit up a dark tunnel while it blocked your whole vision, even though it wasn't realistic.
      Milsims are realistic, not necessarily immersive.

    Idk this seems like a good change, I think they are preparing for the next battlefield release and using this as a test. I recently played Battlefield 3 and every gun in that game feels very distinct and the recoil and bullet spread is very high which means it takes more skill to take someone down and engagement times increase which I prefer. In 2042 the issue with the gunplay is the weapons all feels like lasers it’s basically Apex Legends 2.0

    I agree that the way this game's gunplay is doesn't fit this change. However i always hated how every gun feels like im shooting in apex legends. and static and weak, especially with the audio being weak like u mentioned, but still this game def needed more improvments like this. Its just that almost everything else about the gunplay needs to be addressed first. BF1 had a similar and VERY satasfying visual recoil where the bullets still always went center with the reticle dispite the spread in the games machanics. Guns were mostly balanced in bf1 more than every other BF game, and if im not mistaken you said the same thing a while back in a video about a reticle centering bug, but yeah i say this is a step in the right direction, but AT THE WRONG TIME. Lets hope they do this right even tho theyve proven time and time again they can easily fuk it up. Even in previous games.

    This was the whiniest thing i ever heard. All the guns feel the same right now. They all fire like it was laser weapons, you cant miss. And the accuracy is ridiculous. I mean you should not be able to spray a sniper with an Smg at 200+ yards, but in bf 2042 you can. The aim punch is zero. Maybe you should play OW2 instead if you want weapons with zero recoil. I welcome these changes. This way you actually need skill to kill someone instead of just being good at tracking. They should also increase the accuracy penalty when jumping and shooting, seeing all the sweaty infantry players use this to their advantage.

    All of the guns are so easy to use and are just laser beams. We make the gun play require a bit more skill, and actually try to balance out the weapon stats. Bf4 and BF3 had great balancing between weapons, and there were pros and cons to every weapon, which was balanced and it worked out fine.
    900rpm? Less accuracy, more recoil. 600rpm? Better accuracy and less recoil.
    But in 2042, you’ll get a high rate of fire, high damage, and low recoil. There is literally no proper balancing to that. No point in dmr’s and “medium range weapons” if I can just fully automatically, 1000rpm, laser beam a person who’s unfortunate to run across a field with no cover.
